Hi everybody,
not sure whether I can post this within the clone phone threads since I do not know the processor nor the manufacturer.
Phone is a pseudo iPhone which runs some kind of Android which is disguised as iOS (really bad quality).
Unfortunately this Android is really instable and phone does not work reliably.
Now I am trying to find out whether there might be another Android version which I could flash instead. Already identified Needrom as possible source but need the real device manufacturer and processor before.
Any idea how I could proceed here? Just still trying to avoid to connect to PlayStore on this phone since the Chinese ones are known for their spyware.
Recoveryis accessible.
From backside: A1660FCCID;BCG-E3085AIC59C-E3085A
From About: Modell: MNRJ2CH/A
Which other information do I need to provide/identify the phone and how do I get it?
Any help highly appreciated.
Bye
First things I identified are that it seems to be a Lenovo using MT65xx - at least this was shown during driver installation when phone was connected to Win PC.
After connecting to Win10 Laptop YunOS ACB Interface has been installed. MTKTools tells about the already known fake and says its an MT6582.
So how can I provide a suitable stock ROM onto it?

Hey Renth,
I am afraid I got one of those too. It looks like an iphone with 250GB memory, but in eality it only has less than 50 MB.

I a wondering also if I can wipe out whatever it has installed.
Sorry for the late reply. I also raised that topic within China Devices Forum back then. There I documented all my activities (hopefully did not forget anything).
Do not know whether cross referencing is allowed, so just send me a PM then I can provide you the link. Alternativly you can ask google for "How to identify real device (Clone phone)?" and then follow the link with the same topic at Chine Devices forum.

I've used the search but only found one reply about the Herotab MID816 (and all its equivalent 8" Samsung S5VP210 tablets).
My question is this: anyone building a custom rom for this tablet maybe?
There's quite a bit of discussion on tablet firmware/roms over on slatedroid, the MID816 included.
http://www.slatedroid.com/index.php?board=168.0
Can someone please help us get full root? Thanks.
I am only posting here because I can't find the thread that addresses my prob.. I need help with my Herotab MID 816. I can't get rid of the original owners Google account which means no access to Google apps. Can anyone please help?
Thanks!

Did you try to add another Google account first, let it sync, then remove the owner's one?
On my 816 tablet this works.
Another way is to re-flash the tablet and then add your account.
I tried the first suggestion about adding another user.. The new user was added but still could not remove the initial user so I ended up upgrading to the new firmware and erasing the existing data. Thanks for your suggestions!
Hello again guys!
Ok after some (Lots) of searching i finally found firmware update 20110311 i think this is the latest (please feel free to correct me) and i even managed to get into the update firmware menu (power and menu button) now even though i can use ADB to reboot my device, i can connect the usb and transfer files to/from my computer when the tablet is on, the firmware update tells me that there is no driver for this device.
Went into device manager and there's the yellow mark, (cant update driver tried that) here's where it gets odd, the Yellow exclimation mark on the driver in device manager says Android 1.0 Yet i am running Android 2.3.1 maybe thats why i cant get the driver to work (Except for files tranfers) found a driver package but at a loss on how to install them as its a winrar file.
ANYONE who can advice on this, or has had the same issue please post a response

theres a thread that explains how to root TVpad2 OS but also installing android but unfortunately Im still confused to where to begin...
Since I can't post outside links, I'll post the replies here:
this seems to indicate tvpad has onboard storage of ~4G which runs the applications, though i'm not sure about the function of each partiton. it doesn't seem to be easy to put a custom os such as 'openelec' into the storage through telnet. i think in order to do that, one needs to tether the box with linux machine first...
here's the guide that i'm trying to follow:
REMOVED
^You are correct. Not going to be easy. At least I had many sleepless nights trying to find a way to put Android on TVPad1/2/3. Probably not going to help you with your Openelec project, but for Android I found an interesting article which is mostly related to TVPad2/3 (tcc8925 chipset): REMOVED . Never got much further with it since I never figured out how to put the TVPad2 into FWDN mode (bricked a perfectly working unit trying to figure that out). So I called it quits. I am a Windows guy though, so maybe for some Linux wizard it's a piece of cake.
^thanks for the info, it's good to know.
now i realized that putting 'openelec' won't be possible because onboard rom would require the firmware be loaded first since it contains drivers specific to the tvpad. however, it's unclear to me how one tethers tvpad2 to computer for editing and transferring firmware, since tvpad2 only has one standard usb port( a host usb?). and the linked guide utilizes a miniUSB to usb cable to link the CX-01 mini PC to computer for updating the firmware. anyway, these procedures seem too complicated to go through for what tvpad is worth.
this is a link i found that contains some info on flash fwdn image with pc to devices with TCC8902/TCC8803 chipset:
REMOVED
Could anyone give me some insight? Thanks
I recently acquired a cheapie Windows tablet (the Ematic EWT826BK) that the previous owner had wiped. I reinstalled Windows 10 on it but I am having quite the time at finding drivers for this thing, specifically the touch driver. It uses a Silead device for the touchscreen with the device ID MSSL1680. I read that I need a file called TouchSetting.gt to make the touchscreen not inverted like it is. If anyone could upload a backup of their drivers, or just the TouchSetting.gt from this tablet, that would be fantastic! Thanks in advance.
EDIT: I contacted "support" and they said they don't have the OS images. I don't need the IMAGES, I need the DRIVERS. Ugh; dead end.
Can somebody please provide a link for the drivers for the Poco x3 ? I am using Windows 7 and I cannot get shot of the yellow exclamation ! in the device manager. If there is an 'exe' version that would be great as I have had numerous attempts at trying to manually installing but to no avail. Thanks !

I didn't know this, I will give it a try! Thanks
Well I tried the Xiaomi PC suite , the PC suite does not connect. Says to update my device. Still got the yellow exclamation mark in device manager, but at least I can drag and drop to my phone. I think it's odd they don't provide a driver tho?
Have you uninstalled it first? The driver that was installed by the system I mean. If not try and do it in the Device Manager then reboot your PC with the phone connected. If this doesn't work try a different USB port (all the standard stuff, you know). I'd really suggest that you upgrade that windows to win10. MS has dropped the support for 7. So no more security updates. Also you can still upgrade for free.

Excuse the Off Topic but, having both versions running on different computers, I think that's really bad advice.
If it works, don't fix it.
Windows 10 has given me little more than grief, while a 5 year old install of 7 is running as my daily driver without any major issues.
Security is no excuse here, both OS have attack vectors you must be mindful of -- but Ten's larger user base make it a bigger target... Not to mention MS regular updating breakage (just Google it).
Well I managed to get the phone recognised by the PC using Mi PC Suite. I followed the link here:
China Mi PC Suite with English Translation | MIUI Blog
Xiaomi has Mi PC Suite. It is the all-in-one tool to manage your device. It can install apps, update the mobile operating system, organize files, and so on.
miui.blog
Basically putting the Chinese version followed by some translation files. Recognised phone right away! just don't upgrade the app when it's asks.

I don't intend 'upgrading' my laptop to W10, way too much trouble. Every update something else breaks. There are no supported (W10) drivers for WiFi of graphics so it just runs smoother as it is! Thanks!! W7 all the way!

The OP is here because something actually doesn't work. Telling someone to stay on an 11 years old system based on personal preference is a bad advice. My security example is not an "excuse" as you call it but a good reason (one of many in fact) to upgrade. That would solve the problem OP has and help him avoid many others in the future.

Hi all! Android noob looking for suggestions.
Manufacturer: Mediawave PC (now Techland PC)
Hardware Model: MW22-A32
Current OS: 4.4.4
Chipset: Rockchip RK3288 (supposedly capable of Android 8.1)
Rooted with SuperSU
Purchased this 22" touch display off eBay and wanted to load an app that requires Android 6 or higher. The manufacturer does not offer an update package for this device and indicated what I have was a special build for a single project that is now likely being refreshed and hardware liquidated. Tech Support indicated I needed to simply buy a NEW device that already has the OS updated.
I would like to think we can update to a newer version of OS, but I have no idea where to start. I checked a few online videos, but they seemed to point to pre-packaged OS bundles from tech enthusiasts for specific mass market tablet models.
Is an upgrade like this possible without having device specific files/firmware? If so, can you point me to a guide or walkthrough for how to do this as an Android novice? Thank you!

Using the 'Official TWRP App', I created a copy of both the boot and recovery image.
For the next step, if the device manufacturer will not supply an updated ROM, can you use the hardware profile help find a close custom rom that may work here? if so, do you have any suggestions on next steps? I installed the 'Droid Info' app to view hardware info, but it was not as detailed as I had hoped.
Can't answer your questions because I never compiled TWRP at my own.
Were you ever able to update this device? I have one that i want to update as well.
I also bought one of these off of ebay and would like to know if you figure out how to upgrade to Android 8.1.

I believe that I saw that your website stated the OS to be Android 7.1.
Is it supposedly capable of Android 8.1?

The unit I purchased seems to have only 1GB DRAM?!?

I did not attempt. TechlandPC did respond and said that this model maxed out at 4.4.4. I was not convinced that the updated firmware will work with this device and could not find anyone specifically doing it to this device - and did not want to brick it. I was able to delete some large system apps and free up some space with OAndBackupX (Andorid 4+)- https://f-droid.org/en/packages/dk.jens.backup/
Interested in this aswell.
I know the topic is a few months old but I’m currently looking at possibly purchasing the 22” or 15” in models and wanted to see if there were any further updates? What is everyone using them for? I hope to use them with home assistant and fully kiosk…anyone know if it’s possible? Seems like there is enough interest, maybe we can get this tablet upgraded?

I purchased the 22" for my 83yr mother. I created a desktop stand for her to use it to view her gmail, facebook, etc. Its fairly limited because of the small space on the device, So I found a way to move many of the apps to an external usb. It also does not have a camera - which would have been nice for her to be able to use to make videochats, but I could not get an external usb camera to work (tried 4 different makes/models). I never did attempt to flash and upgrade it.

If it says in the description that it comes with a camera - you may be ok. Mine clearly stated that it did not have a camera.
It is responsive and works well. I did do something to make it sluggish but I do not remember specifically... it may have been that I came very close to maxing out the storage which caused the issue.
The other thing that I was really disappointed in is that it does not have an HDMI in. So I could not push video to it. It does have an HDMI port, but I havent tested if it does push video to another device since I didnt have a need to do that.
It’s good to hear it’s responsive (or was lol) maybe I should just bite the bullet and get it…if I can just get it to run Home assistant it will be golden…if you think of anything else or figure anything out let me know!
