MHA-L29C636 Flashing System.img - Huawei Mate 9 Questions & Answers

I have an MHA-L29C636 which is currently running MHA-L29C636B158 decrypted. I've noticed that the 'system update' feature in settings is now missing and I want to update to latest B180 image....
Having had a Nexus 6 previously, i'm used to flashing via fastboot the system.img and boot.img files.
Is it possible to do this with the Mate 9 or will it brick the phone? I am really struggling to find information about flashing this phone other than using FunkyHuawei paid service.
I've gone through and grabbed all the .img files using Huawei Extractor but find different information about whether I can or can't utilise these for flashing via fastboot.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you lost the System update feature, you must flash the 2 files update_data_full_public.zip and hw/eu/update_full_hw_eu.zip .

Huawei Mate 9 (Rooted SuperSU with TWRP) Play Store and Themes broken.

Hello, all!
# Device Info #
Carrier: Vodafone
Model: MHA-L09
Build: MHA-L09C346B181
EMUI 5.0
Android 7.0
[The Situation]
My Huawei Mate 9 has begun to act strange after the second day of it being rooted. There was no issue with flashing, however when I researched a little bit into the issue I attempted to 'rebrand' the phone. When trying to backup the system and OEMInfo in TWRP, it failed constantly and aborted backup.
[Specific Problems Found]
- The Play Store refuses to launch, crashing the second it displays the app enter animation.
- Themes will no longer apply, appearing to display the 'applying...' text but not actually affecting the device.
[Request]
If someone could instruct me on exactly which process I should take and how, I would appreciate the direction.
Thanks in advance,
BeeCole.

Can you direct me to where to find the recovery.img? Not good at finding files for my model/build.
I'd reinstall firmware. Backup everything you need from /sdcard/ and/or titanium backup. Or Huawei backup.
Then follow this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9/how-to/guide-mate-9-flash-update-package-t3593108
That thread can be used if you want to rebrand.

You must use program HuaweiUpdateExtractor_0.9.9.5 for extract recovery.img from update.app of your model.

Huawei P8 (Nova) Lite 2017 Soft-bricked, No OS, can't flash any firmware

Hi, my son's phone became unusable after clicking on an MMS link. I have since been able to unlock and get TWRP installed on it. After that I am unable to flash ANY kind of firmware on it (PRA-LX2). It had already updated to the latest version of EMUI droid 6. No matter trying to flash via Fastboot, sideload or SD card nothing works. In some places I found info saying that one can't flash lower versions of Android as the latest update changes the partitions. Huawei says the latest update is unavailable for download, so no way to get it as obviously HiSuite does not work.
If anyone can help me out I'd be very grateful. If there is any other info anyone needs about this problem please just let me know and I'll do my best to find what you need to help. Thanks

eRecovery will not download package properly so I can factory reset

I need to factory reset my view 10 BKL-L09 but when I go into recovery once it connects to wifi it says it failed to get the package and I'm stuck. I can get it into fastboot mode but don't know of a way to factory reset and then flash whichever image I would need. I've tried the adb line that deletes user data to no avail. I'm guessing since things got corrupted when I tried to flash xposed that its causing the recovery problems as well I guess.
I've downloaded firmware finder and downloaded the appropriate files for the bkl-l09 however when I use the extractor tool for some reason I can't seem to find the img files I need to input into the huawei multi tool that will let you inbrick so if anyone has those files I'd appreciate it or maybe give me a step by step guide to how to use the extractor tool properly

You should not change anything before there is a full firmware package.
Unfortunately, there is still nothing for the international version.
That's why I'm not rooting anything anymore, before the full firmware gives
Same on my Honor 7x no Updates or Firmware since 1,5 Month

Reisntalling B385 stock rom to my FRD-L04

Hi guys,
I am currently trying to figure out how to reinstall a clean version of the B385 for my FRD-L04. I have downloaded these two files from the Nougat Update for FRD-L04 Honor 8 (USA):
Full ROM – http://update.hicloud.com:8180/TDS/data/files/p3/s15/G1585/g104/v83098/f1/full/update.zip
Data File – http://update.hicloud.com:8180/TDS/...FRD-L04_hw_usa/update_full_FRD-L04_hw_usa.zip
I have tried to flash them both from TWRP, but I always get the error: Updater process ended error 7
Can anyone please guide me through the process and let me know what I'm doing wrong?
I have look for a guide or post where this is detailed, but without luck. Can anyone link me to a guide on how to reinstall the stock firmware in my Honor 8 FRD-L04?
Thanks! :good:
The best way (if you don't want to unlock bootloader) is to flash a downgrade package first, then dload the Marshmallow update and finally your preferred Nougat update though Firmware Finder.

Thanks for the response. In my case, my phone is rooted, so I don't mind unlocking the bootloader. Would you please elaborate on how to do it that way?

Unlock your bootloader and follow this guide:https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-8/how-to/guide-flashing-unapproved-firmwares-t3668306/
Choose the B385 firmware or any newer firmware available for your region.
So I decided to finally reinstall the stock firmware in my Honor 8 FRD-L04 in B389, and this is where the nightmare began.
- I made a full backup with TWRP just in case and I decided I wanted to start from the earliest firmware possible available.
- I started unrooting my phone using the UnSU zip by Osmosis.
- Then I flash via bootloader the recovery and boot image of the firmware B360.
- I flashed the rollback package from the Huawei official site with the B122 firmware also available at the same place. I saved the rollback package in my root directory in the dload folder, and loaded it with the 3-button method. After this I wasn't able to boot my phone normally, I was stuck in a boot loop. I still continue with the next firmware, the B122, and it was successfully loaded (this also relocked my bootloader).
- It is important to say I clear many times the cache and wipe/erase data through stock recovery options, and also tried to erecover but I wans't able to connect to the WiFi. I guess something was missing (at this point I was already going crazy).
- I was still stucked at a boot loop after loading the B122, so I decided to unlock my bootloader and flash the twrp 3.1.1-1-frd.img
- From there I tried to wipe data and cache and system and everything, but I wasn't able because an error saying unable to mount always appeared.
- After rebooting, since I already had unlocked the bootloader, the initial message prompting: "press power to continue, press for 3 seconds for erecovery, etc..." appeared.
- I enter the erecovery options with the hope it will do something... and it did!!! I could connect this time through WiFi and the system asked to update the firmware and many other things it said at that moment. This was the first time I felt relieved through the night.
- The phone updated perfectly, it started at the firmware B122 and I kept updating it until I reached the B389.
- I unlocked the bootloader again and rooted the phone. And everything is running smooth as silk!
I know this is a very long story, but I just want to get it out there in case anyone is facing the same problem I just passed. Hope this helps someone and brings peace to them! =) Good luck!
I believe B385 is not functional with TWRP. Flash B360 and reboot to recovery. This should go to stock recovery, where you will have to do a factory reset. I got EMUI working, but it refuses to update to any newer version (it does show B380 but doesn't update). Also there should be updates after making that update. The updates did work for other people, so you may be able to have it working.

Rebrand from BKL-L09 (C432) to BKL-L09 (C636)

Hi,
Can someone help me rebrand from BKL-L09 (C432) to BKL-L09 (C636)?
I have 2 Honor view 10 phones (originally BKL-AL20) that are rebranded by the shop were I bought them to BKL-L09. Unfortunetly they are stuck on an old version!
Current SW:
BKL-L09 8.0.0.110(C432)
But since they are not getting updates I was planning on flashing complete OTA update but I think rather flash C636. Or is some other region more recommended?
Can someone please provide me with steps and files to flash C363?
I also have a Mate 8 were I recently rebranded from C432 to DL00 and I only needed to flash the DL00 oeminfo and then went to erecovery and downloaded/installed latest firmware from there without any other steps. Would this work for the Honor view 10 if i get the C636 oeminfo for it?
Best Regards,
Leo
Yes the rebrand is same on view 10, flashing oeminfo file and flash regarding ROM.
But there's a major problem here: there is no more free way to unlock the bootloader.
Even if your device is unlocked, if you rebrand it, most prolly you will lost the unlock status and your unlock code wont work.
Means you need to pay third party unlock service (again).
I'm on right opposite from you, having C636 (im on EMUI9 with stock recovery so i cant provide you a oeminfo file), thinking of rebranding to C432.
Why would you like to move to C636 (Asia Other, means SEA and some)? C432 (Europe Unlock) is quite nice region I think?
Europe is the most huawei selling region except china mainland, receiving most updates as i know.
If you are living in asia you can try India region, which is also quite update-receiving region i think.

Well the reason I want to do anything at all is because the phones are not receiving any updates. Both phones are stuck at 8.0.0.110.
You might be right, my earlier experience was that Europe did not get that much love as China/Asia. But I maybe should try to get phones updated. Problem is I have tried and nothing works. I tried built in update, HiSuite, HiCare and dload method.
I really y don't know why it fails, probably something went wrong when the phones were rebranded by the shop.

Did you try the No-check recovery? Mine was fishy too (rebranded by the shop, no OTA came),
so i did clean 'ROM' flash with No-check recovery and clean 'ROM+all other things' flash with HiSuite.

Now I'm thinking of flashing stock recovery via fastboot (in case something is wrong with it) and then try flash stock rom rom via fastboot.
I found the following for recovery https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-view-10/how-to/stock-recovery-getting-to-stock-t3754797
The question is what need to be done to flash stock rom?
I guess downloading stock from FF, what files are need for fastboot flash this device?

download stock ROM from FF, extract SYSTEM.img, via fastboot: fastboot flash system SYSTEM.img.
straight and simple. in fact you can flash most of .img by this, kind of manual HiSuite.
you did dload method (using stock recovery to flash stock ROM) and failed,
which might means your IMEI is not matching with your region properly (the shop rebranded it wrong),
so i recommended No-check Recovery, which is Modded stock recovery that does not check IMEI while dload process.
