My S7 "Forgot" my pattern - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

Hi,
I have my device for a few months now, and I usally use my fingerprint to unlock my device.
However, when I restart the device I cannot put my FP to unlock my device, only with my pattern (After some research I found that is by design and due to security risks).
Yesterday I tried to root my device, the flash was succesful however when my phone restarted he asked for my pattern (as he usally does), but now my pattern is not accepted.
My pattern hasn't changed for about two years now and is the same on my phone and my tablet, so it is not likely I forgot it.
I'm currently stuck with a phone that won't start the OS without my inputting my pattern, however, he won't accept my pattern..
What can I do?
After some research I have discovered I'm not the only one, and that the S7 "forgets" the pattern sometimes.. yet no solution worked for me..
Is there a way to solve this? maybe revert the root? is that even an option?
Please Help

I had this problem and it was because of Device Encryption and because we didn't put in our own password, I think. The way I fixed it was by flashing stock firmware through Odin on to my phone and used the CSC file as this will completely wipe the device including the Encryption.
I didn't worry about the wipe of my Data as Samsung Cloud backs everything up anyways and hope it's the same for you.
Good luck!

Change your password using android device manager on your pc

sadly my latest photos from a trip to italy hasn't backed up from some reason.. so wiping is not an option.. though the phone offers it if I input a wrong password again..
oh and ADM isn't an option since the OP hasn't booted up yet.. it's kernel based I believe

as I said.. ADM isnt an option since he cannot connect with my device

Currently I'm thinking about two solutions,
the first one is to wipe all my data, connect via usb and try to restore it with fonepaw restore..
however, this require me to wipe, and I preffer to avoid that, so the next solution I thought of is mounting the data partition and backing it up, then try to extract the files.. however my phone is encrypted, and to my understanding that is an issue..
if anyone knows how to help my with this *please do so*, I'm in dire need.
If there's a sulotion, however weird and far off - i'll take it.

Few methods here that 'may' work

http://www.samsung-android-transfer.com/recover-android/how-to-unlock-samsung-phone.html

Went over it, sadly since it's not a lockscreen of android, but the kernal lockscreen..

Guide: A50 (Garminfone). How to reset to 10 tries to enter unlock code

I bought a ebay Garminfone (it's my second) and it came with 1 attempt left to enter the code. I've ordered the code, but I wanted better odds than 1 try.
Hold D-Pad left while powering on. Hold D-Pad LEFT until the next line appears:
"Wipe userdata" appears on the screen. It can take a few minutes to run its course.

It wipes EVERYTHING off the phone. Just be warned.
I did a Master Clear when it restarted, just for good measure. I have no idea if I needed to or not. I had a T-Mo SIM card (unregistered) to be able to access the Master Clear section. It may work without doing the Master Clear.
But it does reset the counter to 10 tries!
This process may even work on a HARD LOCKED phone that shows 0 attempts left, but I have not had cause to try that. This method wipes everything on the phone and restores it with the hidden/secure recovery image. Hard Lock seems to be a software issue, which can probably be changed with this method.
After I did this, I changed the .update file to the Canadian one for Videotron. The 10 tries stuck!
I am just waiting for my unlock code to give it a try.
I think it's pretty safe to buy used phones that claim not to read the SIM card etc now. Updating the old 1.6 version to 2.1 fixes that. D-Pad left + power fixes almost everything else.
This process should be able to recover from anything except if you've screwed up the bootloader or the hidden recovery image.
this method does not work on my hardlock phone, i try to update but no sucess, it hang up after rebooting in the first line until i remove battery pls any one know solution to this

pls someone help me here, i have code to unlock but phone is hardlock,

systemui has stopped

Hi, hope someone can assist.
My wife's changed the wallpaper on her M2 earlier. It caused the systemui to force close, and has gone in to an endless loop of force closing.
It won't connect to the Sony Companion app, and USB debugging is not enabled so I can't adb.
The phone is completely stock, not rooted, locked bootloader, no custom recovery etc.
The only thing I can do is power and volume up to reboot. It still misbehaves in Safe Mode.
Any idea how I can sort this? Preferably without losing data.
I don't have any experience with Sony devices, not even sure how to boot to the bootloader
Thanks.
Fc of wallpaper change?!
Can you change it?
Try repair with pc companion or flash ftf with Flashtool in both ways you loose data.
Good luck.

Yeah, thanks mate, sorted it last night. I ended up flashing with Flashtool.
It was weird - I think she somehow interrupted the process when it was changing.
The bootloader set up is weird on this phone - hold volume down with the phone off and plug in for fastboot?! No image to tell you you're in the bootloader/fastboot?!
I think next time she gets a new one I'll make her get a Nexus!
Glad you sorted out. You only got blue led to know your in bootloader and that's it. ? Now it won't be that hard to convince her to get Nexus
All the Best

I know but...
I know it's solved but when you flash untick the data and cache and it'll stay the same letting all your data intact (well if you have root explorer you'll know they're the different folder /ext, /system, and ext. and all it does it not reset the /data BUT, games may reply on android ID so you may lose data on some things.

Encryption and ROOT? Files still 100% safe???

Technical question. If I do root in oneplus 6 then generally this "android, embedded, hardware encryption" will be at risk now, yes? Getting to the files on my phone is now possible, yes? Such a simple scenario. I lose the phone or someone steals and by unlocked bootloader and TWRP can easily preview and rip files from the phone, yes? So it this situation encryption doesnt work. Am I right? However, if I won`t do root and will not unlock the bootloader, then encryption works and without my password or fingerprint there, the phone is only suitable for factory reset, so photo files, etc. are still 100% safe. I understand correctly? What do you think?
Post scriptum... and this fuc#@ng root is just so that you can record conversations in android pie because Google blocked this function

You are epic but, YES!
P.S. I would love someone to convincingly defend unlocking bootloader but preventing the breach of encryption.
That would be nice.

Any solution? Maybe TWRP for password or something? It should be some kind of solution.

Impossible to reinstall a rom after root

Hello guys,
I'm new here, I've read a lot about your different topics and I'm admirative for some level god members with their answers :good: :laugh:
Indeed I'm a dev, but for websites so it's a bit different with phones for me, and I will try to explain as detailed as I can.
I have a samsung SM G965F, bought in Poland (I work here for the moment); And indeed tried to root it for private purposes.
I followed a tutorial; I was on Pie 9 (****tiest ever update for me); from there OEM in DEV tools was activated, and the TWRP was installed.
the phone wasn't root, but I had the TWRP options (when push Volume up+bixby+lock) so thought I'm on the good way, but only after, and there is my mistake, I understood by reading something that I should make faster an operation when enabled the OEM (before it start to delete all my infos) that I should switch to recovery mode (or installation) and if not there was a story with 7 days to wait.
So the phone was just reseted with only memory card datas not deleted, and the phone was working, just the OEM always disabled, and when you select to enable it it says "ok we reboot the phone you will loose all your files etcc..." and anyway after many attempts, it says always the same after the reboots, and never is enabled after. So I tried to install a new rom, and then I thought I had a problem, in the installation it was written "Secure Check Fail : PIT".
So I tried to found the right rom, with the number "6" inside as per this screen :
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Then the Secure Check Fail : PIT dissapeared and now its just Fail in Odin.
Also, I tried to reboot normally but it says that there was an error and I need to reinstall with smart view or smart touch, I don't really remember, so I just reinstalled the first TWRP and now the screen of my phone is looping on Samsung, and rebooting.
I'm lost, I spent from 3pm to 4 am yesterday in the internet to found a solution, so my final option is write to ask your help guys.
Hope you can help me, thank you in advance
PS: Sorry for the big picture, there is no acceptance unfortunately for resizing codes, or maybe I just still don't have access to this option cuz I have less than 10 messages, if need delete it or explain me if you need pictures, I did it 10 min ago, even if there is not a lot to do because i'm limited with my phone now

Please help! FRP bypass Huawei P30.

I am editing this post as I have become more educated in the last three months since I made the original.
I bought a broken phone. It had a bad battery and could not switch on in order for the phone to be reset. Neither could the seller provide me with any account info in order to remove the account before or after the reset was done I bought the phone from a repair shop as it was abandoned by the first owner as it was deemed uneconomical by them to repair.
I have replaced the screen and the battery with OEM items and have been trying for 2 months to get the phone unlocked.
Details that may be important
P30 ELE-L09
EMUI 10.1
What I have tried:
Every tutorial on YouTube related to P30 FRP lock and EMUI 10, and even some for other related Huawei devices like P20 and P30 lite.
I have tried eRecovery methods of update and restore, USBOTG method to update and both downgrade firmware. Everything fails. The recovery has buttons for emergency backup, but if I select this it reboots the phone back to the OOB setup. Also if I try to reboot to Safe mode, it does the same thing just in Safe mode.
HiSuite Proxy. @IProfessor This is still where I have issues as I feel that this is the most likely to succeed. Sadly every time the firmware reaches the point it will begin to install, it stalls and fails. I have logged it and will post them up here.
I believe the FRP lock is blocking me from resetting this device somehow, I just cannot figure out how and how to circumvent it. I am am being patient and I have time, the phone is not for daily use, yet.
Deleted.

Up.
Anybody with a solution that doesn't involve paying for it?
I'm looking for an answer too..
I took the phone to my local cellphone repair guy.
He had a guy that flashed the firmware directly to motherboard. The only downside is these guys sometimes use the wrong region firmware, as is my case.
Total spend was R350 ZAR.
P.S. are you not also on the vwclubsa forum?
