Hi,
I have been searching and reading everything I could find on XDA for hours and hours daily and it seems there is no real solution for the region lock. The N9005 has limited success and the locked SM-N900 has had almost no success. It is already possible and Chainfire has demonstrated that you need to clear the networks blacklist. Surely there is someone who can implement this for all models or at least give detailed enough directions for other people to do themselves. Current unlock services are charging anywhere from $20-40 and some phones like my SM-N900 can't even be unlocked.
I am starting a bounty hopefully this gets some talented developers attentions and we can get somewhere.

Region lock
I bought the phone in the US- it is the SM-N900 Latin america version and it is region locked. It seems all SM-N900's except the ones from Asia are locked: Middle east, Africa, Latin america etc... And I am sure this is only the beginning. It seems many people are having problems with all of the other version: N9005, N900Q, N900T and all those other models...
I see no reason this won't work for the S4 either. It just needs to be explored more...
N9005 Region Lock can't be unlocked
I have purchased my N9005 in Europe and have activated it there.
I then inserted an Israeli SIM card, installed the RegionLock Away but unfortunately it doesn't work. Still locked.
I have also approached some Unlocking paid services but no unlock codes could be found for my IMEI.
Any more creative ideas on how to unlock this stupid and abusive Region Lock?
Same, seems there is no solution for i9500

I am exactly the same situation, I have a SM N900 from Amazon thatregion locked to the America's and Caribbean. I am serving in western Africa and do not have access to an USA Sim card. All measure to SIM unlock this phone have failed. I ordered a T-Mobile sim that I am still waiting on delivery but I do not have a lot of confidence that it will work. I hope someone can come up with a practical solution. I would be more than happy to add $30 to the bounty!

Hi, I bought my SM-N900 in the US and all region unlock codes purchased did not work. Today I visited a Samsung Store in Nairobi, Kenya, and they were able to remove the Region Lock.
region lock away
This ****y thing isnt going with the app...
Give me another solution
IMEI
I have purchased my N9005 in KSA and have activated it there but the imei is different when i press *#06# the imei in the back sticker is different when pressing *#06# is this normal thanks in advance.
Anyone know how to decide that issue?
So, a lot of you, who bought your S6 from other countries which aren't the one you live in, know that the S6 is Regional lock.
I've tried to find a way to unlock it via software and other methods and came to the conclusion that the only way is to pay for an unlocking site so they will get you your code from the manufacturer database BUT almost all of those sites can't get the unlock codes for the S6 devices!
So, after almost 3 weeks I've decided to send an email to Samsung mobile and to ask them for help in this matter; in my case, I bought mine in Germany and it is lock to all European networks, so I've sent an email (in English) to Samsung's Germany support told them about my problem and ask them to help me, I've even offered to pay them directly online.
To my surprise, they have me to send them my device's IMEI, the country is which I live in, the carrier that im using and a copy of me receipt, after I did so they send me a response saying that they will send me my device unlock code in the next couple of day FOR FREE!
So the answer to all of us, who share this problem is just to send Samsung
(which correspond to where you bought your device) an email asking for help in that matter.
go to this site
http://www.samsung.com/global/support/globalcontact.html
locate the country from which you bought your device, and enter that country samsung website, then go to Support-->mobile---> mobile and tablets then at the bottom click on Contact Service and Support by e-mail.
there you will need to fill your details.
you can use the same text that ive send them, and you will most likely get the same results:
Hello,
I live in -write your country-., I bought my galaxy S6 in -write the country.
My device is locked to -write the which region-, and I would like to unlock it, I've tried doing so for almost 3 weeks now and none of the unlock services are able to unlock it.
I don't mind paying in order to unlock it, but no one can!
Please help me, either by releasing my unlock code to those companies or, if it possible, for me to pay you directly.
IMEI -
Serial num -
Model SM-G920F
Date of purchase
Thank you,
your name
i sent them. hope it will work.
Thanks!
Not as smooth a task for me. I'm Australian and bought mine in the Netherlands, and their support has been terrible. First they told me they can't unlock it, then they said they could but I'd have to fill out a special form so I did, after over a week of hearing nothing I took it upon myself to contact them again, and asked them where my code was, only to be told I had sent the wrong receipt (I was given a few with my purchase), I asked them when they planned on telling me as I would've given them the other receipt upon request but I heard nothing. After unsuccessfully trying 5 different unlock sites I decided I'd go back to the samsung route. I contacted their support again, heard nothing for nearly another week, went on their live chat only to find out they didn't even receive my email, lucky the lady was nice and gave me her personal email and said shed make sure the request went through, but said it'd take 1-2 weeks. So as of the time of this message I've had a $1200 brick for nearly a month, with not much promise of anything really changing. Hopefully this woman will be more helpful than the last few I've had.
I got an answer from samsung usa.
they told me that they cant help me because by the law- only the carrier can provide an unlock code.
i send them mail back, hope that's can help.

That's bull**** tell them its region locked not carrier locked. Its not illegal to remove a region lock, especially if they're the people that made the damn phone.

However, Non-US/International model devices are also available at the third party retailers like Best Buy, Walmart stores and online stores like Amazon, eBay etc in the US. As the Samsung support is country specific we in Samsung US Email support do not have information regarding Non-US/international model devices.
For information regarding your product and assistance for it, we suggest you to contact the appropriate country support team where the device was purchased/manufactured. You can also contact the place of purchase for any available assistance and to know the origin of the device. Only, they can provide you with the region unlock codes. For your convenience, we will provide you with a web link wherein you can select and reach the required country support team.

s6 firmware
hi I have s6 build g920dxxu1aocz baseband g920fxxu1aod4 and pre installed galaxy gifts Africa which firmware/country should I install
I have gone through thedepths of the interwebs and have not been able to find one process that has successfully worked. I am currently trying to get my sexy, brand new Huawei mate 9 connected to Verizon in the US. Now, before you start railing me about its not possible and blah blah, IT IS.
My thought process behind the steps that I would need to take are;
- Gain an unlock code for the boatloader ( tried multiple ways, no dice )
- Root said device
- Change IMEI number to one that is compatible with Verizon
Any direction would help, thank you very much!
You can ask for bootloader unlock code to huawei, three weeks after you buy and register your the phone.
There is not way to root the mate 9 yet.
Change the Imei is not legal in my country, but I think you will need additional external hardware
Best luck in your attempt.

Folks always say register the phone.. I've tried.. But I get stuck when they ask for a Chinese number...
You're the first person I've seen mention this. The phones should not be carrier locked? Also, this phone does not support CDMA currently, so Verizon will not work on it anyway - maybe that is your problem? You can also download the Huawei Bootloader Unlock app in the Google Play Store. They will charge you $7 for a code, but it works.
You don't need to do anything with the IMEI for Verizon, as they don't work on a whitelist system, nor do you need to root. However, you'll only have LTE since this phone does not support the correct CDMA frequencies for voice/lower tier data services on Verizon. (Obvious exception to voice being if you can get VOLTE working.)
I have the Chinese model which is supposed to support CDMA (albeit only on a Chinese carrier) and I wasn't successful connecting to either Verizon on the US, or KDDI in Japan (on CDMA of course), so I'm pretty sure it's not going to be easy to get it working, if it's even possible at all.
Furthermore, no way to change the IMEI yet, that I know of. Not allowed to discuss on XDA, though, I think.

Hi all,
I bought an S8+ from the Netherlands on subscription (I pay monthly for it) from Tele2 since I study there. Obviously, I've been using the phone for a while (hours of calling to other local numbers, etc.), so I should be unlocked, right? Wrong. I put in a foreign SIM card (Egypt) and it asks me for a network unlock code. However, upon contacting Tele2, they said that my phone was unlocked. I don't know how I should unlock my phone. I've tried online services like cellphoneunlocker.net, etc. but they don't seem to work. Can anyone help me with what I need to do or where I can get it unlocked? I'm in Egypt for a month for winter break and my phone is basically a brick.
I want to know if I can get my phone region unlocked to work with my SIM or not. Please help.
Sincerely,
A struggling student

I asked a question in your previous thread, and you've answered it here, when you don't pay full up front for the phone, and you have it on a contract / pay monthly, it is NOT unlocked. You'll have to wait till the phone is paid off fully and then it'll be fully unlocked.

That's not the way it works in the Netherlands. The phone is carrier unlocked (i.e. I can use a French, Spanish, German, etc. SIM card in it). It is not region unlocked; it is region locked to Europe. I messaged Samsung and they assured me that I was correct and it was a precaution on their end to try and stop the grey market from prospering. I was informed that it would take 6-8 weeks, but I was wondering if anyone had another faster solution, since in 6 weeks I'll be back in the Netherlands.
So does anyone have a quicker solution?
Region Locked = Call at least 5 mins using the regions sim to unlock.
Network Locked = You need to ask your network provider for this to unlocked. Common on postpaid plans and network provided phones.
If you get your phone from network provider then it is most likely to be region & network Locked. But if you get it from a mall, shops, or other source, then most likely it is only region locked.
Try putting different sim
Hi mate,
I had the same issue with Samsung S8+ and Tele2 Nederland. So apparently, you cannot region unlock you phone if you call with tele2 nederland. You need to use any other dutch sim to do so.
So ask one of your friends or get a free Lebara sim and call someone for 5+ minutes. After it, the phone will have no region lock.
Feels like Samsung forgot to put Tele2 in their "dutch operartors" list.
I contacted Huawei in Canada regarding bootloader, their answer
"We do apologize for the inconvenience you are experiencing, however, it is our duty to inform you that Huawei Canada does not provide codes to unlock the bootloader, root the device or provides any tool/code to modify the phone internally. We kindly inform you that this action can potentially "brick" the phone or in other words, renders the phone completely unusable and voids the warranty service and device support. We have no control over how unlocking the bootloader or rooting the phone, will affect your device.
We understand that you might be able to start the request to get the bootloader unlock code from our EMUI website, regrettably, your device does not qualify to receive this code, since the Huawei Canada warranty policy limits us to do not provide this code in order to prevent future inconveniences to our consumers.
This bootloader unlocks code, it is just limited to be available for certain specific regions.

I heard of some people in this situation where they tried support from other country like UK and got the code.
I will try, otherwise I will return it. I got a second email from them and they re- confirm they will not unlock it under any circumstances.
email huawei uk
they gave me my unlock code
you must state that you understand the risk and assume all responsibilities, also tell them youre a developer
that seems to work
and they will ask why you want to unlock your BL
state that you are a developer and require it for testing.
theyve sent me 3.

Same issue in the US, so I emailed the UK department and got my bootloader unlocked.
Went through u k email they are generating an unlock code for my Canadian p20 pro
Seams I might be getting this phone after all. Not ready yet but boing my homework.
Just finished requesting mine from the UK site. The Canadian chat was unbelievable. He was clearly copy and pasting company formatted responses and when I questioned him he became rude and aggravated. Lol
Where exactly you requested in the UK, I email UK support no response yet, is there a live chat?
I used the email link under support. Make sure you include your model, SN, DOP. And I said I was a Canadian developer who needed it for future updates.
An other thing I heard is live chat is better and email takes a few days.
