Bluetooth audio to 2 devices - Samsung Galaxy S8+ Questions & Answers

I heard that we'll be able to stream audio 2 pairs of Bluetooth headphones at once.
I've assume this will also be true for Bluetooth speakers such as the ones we're getting free in the UK?
But does that free Samsung Level Box Slim speaker pair with multiple devices? Obviously not for streaming from 2 phones at once if you get what I'm saying?
Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk

nope. The S8/S8+ are the only phones on the market with Bluetooth version 5.0, which enables the ability to stream audio to 2 separate devices. Most devices that pair to phones, can only be paired to 1 phone at a time, which is unfortunate. Really wish I could have 2 phones paired with my bluetooth headset for work and personal phones =-=.

Mkbhd just did a video on bluetooth 5 on the s8, its removed now, but its not like he controlled the audio to each speaker separately he was just playing the same tune to both at the same time. Not sure what the purpose of that is or if its that impressive.

I could see this being nice for having kids use the phone instead of a Y headphone plug, but use bluetooth headsets for the same songs, or video, etc.
I'm sure there are other instances, but for me personally it's kind of a worthless feature.

I wasnt thinking about having 2 devices connected at the same time more how many devices those speakers can be paired to without having to go through the whole pairing process again? For example my car can have up to 6 phones paired with it making it simple to swap which one it is using. If that makes sense?

I will end up with 2 of these speakers in my house so being able to use both playing the same music in the garden sounds quite appealing!

yea I know what you mean. Thats a feature that I would imagine they would be highlighting as the main reason to buy the device. I dont see anything stating whether it has it or not, so chances are no. Like I said I am waiting for a bluetooth headset that can pair with my work phone and my personal phone at the same time.

This will be nice when I'm traveling with my girlfriend or with friends that have Bluetooth headphones. Sure you can use a headphone splitter but kind of restricts movement

Using this with headphones makes a bit more sense rather than speakers, but even 2 connections is still a bit of a limitation but still better than nothing i guess.

Anyone know if the 2 streams have a way to balance latency between each device?

This should explains everything

HTC Desire with Apple earphones?

Hi all!
I'm wondering if anyone have tried Apples earphones on the Desire? I must say that I don't really like HTC's earphones. But I've always loved my iPod's earphones
Here's a link for which earphones I mean; http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB770G/A?fnode=MTY1NDA1MA&mco=MTM3NTI1NDE.
Does the earphones in it selves work? What about the mic and the remote? The controlbuttons for music?
Thanks in advance
I'm not really a music listener on portable devices but did plug in my wife's iPhone headphones and they worked, as expected. Didnt try out the controls though.
Yes, I knew that the earphones worked. But I don't know whether or not the mic are working?
They should work.
An HTC representative have tried the HTC headphones in an iPhone 3G with a working mic and controllers, so the Apple earphones should also work in an HTC phone.

I have the in-ear ones, and the mic does work. Just not the controls, pause, volume up and down etc.
My iPhone earphones work fine. The mic works, as does the click to pause function. The only thing that doesn't work on them is the volume control, but that never worked with my iPhone 3G either (although these weren't the original headphones that came with the 3G so I think they're the 3GS version)

And you have tested it on the HTC Desire?
If I were you I'd invest in a decent set of headphones if you're looking to use them regularly. Apple headphones that come with any ipod are terrible. I used a pair for a over a year and only when I bought a replacement pair of decent Sony headphones did I realise how bad the Apple ones really are.
Combined with Meridian Player pause and play will work
Hello again,
after a year of being absent to the forum - since i got my iphone - i now choosed to buy the desire and am realy interested to use my apple earphones.
i bought the better ones with two drivers each side and have to say, that these pair are really good.
Because of the open-source character of the os, it should be possible to add some compiled sourcecode, like an threaded app, that reads the input of the headset controls and after it alter the volume, shouldn´t it?
thank you
Yep that sounds like a great idea! I just wish I could code lol

Yeah apologies, that's actually what I meant. Just to clarify the mic works fine and the click button pauses / starts music. The volume control however doesn't work.

I agree with the normal bundle ones. However the new in-ear Apple headphones are great, but you would expect they would be for £60. Had over 8 pair of other headphones in the last couple of years, and I can say for me and the music I listen they are very very good.

Just wanted to let you know that the Griffin iTalk remote works fine. Play/pause works in the standard music app, but not skip forward or backwards. If I am using Spotify however, skip forward works but not backwards. The Mic also works fine. There is no volume slide.
I'm sat here listening to Spotify on my Desire and realised that double-clicking on Apple iPhone headphones skips tracks. Pretty cool
So will ones made by 3rd parties (Skull Candy for example) which include mics work too?
etymotic hf 2 for desire??
Hi guys, u'm hoping to buy the etymotic hf2 headset with the Mic to go with my desire.. would u guys by any chance know wether it would work?? I mean de Mic and the music controls. Iv noticed when I plug in my old Nokia headset de sound is muffled. Thanks in advance.
I soldered some sony-in-ears onto the original one.
The original earphones fall out of my ear, it's bad fit. Soldering works fine, I still have remote+antenna and GOOD sound

hey guys, does the soundmagic mp21 mic works with samsung galaxy s? if not, any earphone with mic for recommendation?
thanks.
I hear that the klipsch s2m works for the sgs, but can't confirm it. You can always consider a transformer with mic, that you can use normal 3.5 plug instead of pin

I have Klipsch S2m and it works with my Vibrant so it must work with i9000.
Ow, great. Can you tell your experiens with them. What kind of sound works best for them and build quility?
Honestly, I am a wannabe audiophile. I am just starting to get into the world of audiophile. An audiophile friend of mine suggested it to me cuz it was on sale.
I would say the sound is pretty good. It is a direct sound and definitely not soft or anything. As far as calls go, I have good experience with these so I am pretty happy.
I don't have any problems with these so far so I think they are good.
good to hear cause I am also browsing around looking for a replacement ear/mic headset.
I do really hope this works for our SGS because this model Klipsch S2m is also listed in the apple store as iphone compatible. and to my knowledge iphone heatsets do not work with SGS.
so I'm a little confused ...
It is advertised as iPhone compatible but it does work with my vibrant... idk what is happening...
Actually, my friend said my phone would work before I bought it so...
Nokia AD-54 / HS-45 adaptor’s inline mic works on my international i9000GT, and many others have reported it working on other variants of Galaxy S.
IMO this is the best option right now because it lets you connect your own headphone .

P.S : None of the call/media buttons work though..
Does anyone know of any good headset adapters that actually work?
I would use the Samsung stock headset but they HAD to be in-ear, I can't use in-ear because my ears block up easily.
I want something simple like the post above but I want one that has a functional media key.
Also, how do you guys SKIP SONGS?! D:

They will work as intended. Pick up/drop a call, pause/play music and mic works as well, a mic really!
Only issue I have come across is with Froyo JP1/JP3/JPC, where if you keep pulling and plugging the earphones in, the buttons will not work as intended, but after you reset the phone it works as normal.
JPK seems to be working fine and Eclair on the other hand works perfectly fine!
Also there is only one button on this earphone.

Sennheiser has the MM series. Most of iPhone capable MMs are compatible with android 3,5 mm audio/mic jack
http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb...ords=sennheiser+mm&x=0&y=0&sprefix=sennheiser

So, the Sennheiser MM70i should do be compatible right??

I've tried various headsets from Nokia and Samsung, but the microphones don't even work with the Desire or DHD, let alone the play/pause/skip buttons. Not a fan of the in ear headsets myself, but would be interested in a slightly longer set than the ones that come with these handsets.

External DAC

Hey guys.
Been using my Nexus 4 for the past day and almost everything about it is great.
My only complaint so far? Volume out through the headphone jack is rather weak compared to my old S3 with modified sound files.
I'm thinking about using an external DAC to circumnavigate this issue. Anyone have any experience with DACs working with Android?
Thanks

If volume is your issue, why not just an amp? It would be easier (theoretically) to find a great, compact headphone amp than a DAC+amp in the same housing.
However, RSA(a highly reputable brand in audiophile circles) has a portable DAC+amp here: http://www.raysamuelsaudio.com/products/intruder . I don't know for sure if it works with Android, but:
A. I don't see why not with USB Host
B. Couldn't hurt to ask.

I'm interested in getting something that I could use on more than just my phone so I figured I might as well get a DAC.
It did not work on 4.1 from what I heard and I have not heard about Google fixing it for 4.2 either. Jelly Bean does support USB audio but the support is very limited.

You should write and ask the guys at HRT (High Resolution Technologies) about their USB DAC. They had one that worked for the iphone connection so chances are that it should work. I'm getting one if it does, so please post your answer.

The best IMO.
You might check hydrogen audio forum and head-fi. I did a quick search.

Well guys, it seems a USB DAC will be impossible for the time being. There appears to be no USB OTG support while rocking the stock setup. The best I can do is use a headphone amp so far. The only downside I foresee is that I hear double amp'ing isn't too great of an idea.
If I remember correctly, the Nexus 7 supports DAC's when rooted and with some work-arounds. So I don't think it's impossible for it to work with the N4.
An amp works if all you want is volume and a little cleaner sound.

I just tried using a slimport adapter connected to an audio receiver through HDMI. Through the audio jack I normally get lots of fuzz but it seems that using slimport the internal amp and DAC are bypassed. Thus the audio quality is much better and I cannot hear any fuzz. Can everyone else with an adapter try it out and share your results?
Since the use of normal USB DACs with the N4 is not very practical, Im thinking this would be a great way to connect a DAC.
We just need someone to produce a DAC for slimport devices. (It doesn't even require rooting!)
I've been pretty happy using a relatively cheap Fiio E5 headphone amp, but I've been considering upgrading to an E17 DAC. Would be great to know if/how well DAC's work on the N4 (or any other Android phone, for that matter)

That's not how it works. When 3.5mm Jack was there the headphones had built in antenna inside them and from there it could connect the antenna to port so phone could use that antenna on FM radio.
But since its usb type c the antenna in the headphones are also gone which makes the FM radio no longer functioning.
So you would have to buy 3.5mm to usb type c and use that to hopefully get antenna back.

The question of an antenna is an important one.
It is interesting to read the note from the NextRadio app, it suggests the issue is with the wireless carrier. In my case, Verizon.

Its not a carrier issue. Its an antenna issue. Go break the antenna off your car and see how well your car radio works for FM.
Same here. The headphone wire itself acted as an antenna when plugged into the 3.5mm port. The USB C port may be able to send audio to your headphones, but it doesn't act like an antenna like the 3.5mm port did.

If you see the attached screen , then your device doesn't have FM radio inbuilt. If it did, you'd get a prompt to insert headphones. That's how I recall this apps behavior. Sm-n9860

Wish it was a better answer. Just like esim, capacity is there and they may or may not have gotten fcc certification for it but it isn't enabled in the USA.
I would not count on that ever being enabled for us.
Maybe next device. Gotta have something for us to want to upgrade to next year. Ha
Lots of past experiences I miss with newer devices. IR remote, pulse/oximeter on phone, 3d scan capability, FM radio, no ads in native apps. List is ever growing.

Which reminds me, I couldn't locate any FCC certifications for the sm -n9860. The sm-n985F ultra had one.
