Previously on Marshmallow 6.0.1 and had Hotspot in the Quick Settings.
After Nougat OTA update, even when I go to Edit the Quick Settings, there's no option for Hotspot at all. Searched these forums as well as regular Google search without any luck. Nothing else has changed; same carrier, same device, just updated to Nougat. If I go thru Settings to enable Hotspot, it works. I see screenshots from others on Nougat who have the Hotspot Quick Setting.
Edit: not rooted, completely stock, Telus carrier in Canada
Possibly the screenshots you've seen are from people using Xposed modules to add it to quick settings toggles, it's not there on mine either
I was able to get around that by installing QuickTile Quick Settings from the play store, which you can find here

Just got the S5 last week and flashed Mystery Build rom Darkbandit14 posted. Although it has almost everything I want it doesn't have the option to force roaming. Is there a zip or a way to add that to the options in the settings yet? I don't really want to pay for a app to force roaming for me if possible.
Second question it has the hotspot mod on the rom, but will you have to keep unlocking the hotspot app with every prl update?
Thanks,
DarkRemedy
So Sprint has removed the ability to easily enable the native hotspot in vz8. I was also unable to get any tethering to work at all using play store applications. I looked in build.prop, system.db, and system variables with no luck. I did find a few new system variables for hotspot that start with mhs_, assuming for "my hotspot". I will play with these and see if I can get anything working, but dun checking doesnt function anymore, as a spot to put "dun" doesnt even appear in the hidden menu. Also, the hidden menu settings now take a pin code to edit. Oh the fun...
Has anyone had luck fixing this, or downgrading back to vz7?
just kidding..... I was on the wrong hidden menu. thought it looked different.... all is well!
I am running 6.0.1 and i got the hotspot working, but i cant seem to find anything online on how to get teh toggles to appear. i only see to download a samsung app that restores them but the app isnt available anymore and the apk i downloaded didn't work. please help. the hotspot toggle is actually really useful.
Is there any way to get wifi calling on our AT&T G4's without upgrading to MM? I'd prefer to stay on LP so I can root and also so I can use my bluetooth heart rate monitor and other sensors. 6.0 has bugs that make bluetooth Low energy sensors not work correctly. There is a fix in 6.0.1 but my understanding is the G4 is still on 6.0. Wifi calling would be great because I encounter poor signal at work.
It seems to be part of the firmware, but I didn't know if there was a setting somewhere like the build prop file to change or something I could sideload to enable wifi calling.
Hopefully this can be done, I also am still rooted on LP mainly for tether. I would like the wifi calling feature, but don't want to give up another one.
It look like the update makes the wifi calling toggle appear up in the notification panel. I don't know if it adds any code. I wonder if it's buried somewhere in the firmware already? I thought maybe I could find/toggle it by creating a shortcut in Nova Launcher like I did with the permission manager for Access Lock. I couldn't find one although I don't know what I'm exactly looking for. there are settings buried in there with vzw in there so maybe it is buried in there.
So I just recently managed to root my T-mobile version of the phone, and now I'm looking for a way to disable the automatic updates that come from the carrier. There seems to be no way to disable in the settings, but I was hoping to do it with the Autorun Manager app.
I'm unsure of what I should be looking for, though. Would anyone have any ideas? All I see under T-mobile is in the attached screen shot.
I don't know if this is what your looking for or if you have already tried, but in settings under developer options there is an option to turn off automatic updates. I don't know if this is for the apps or the firmware though
I tried that already, but that setting says it only prevents the update from being applied after it already downloads.
