Dropping Verizon Unlimited Plan? - Android Apps and Games

I still have my unlimited data plan with Verizon. One of the few who are still grandfathered in. The question is, should I drop it in favor of the current "unlimited" plan. The price difference is nearly $100. I don't yet see any issues with it short of the wifi hotspot limitation of 10gb/mo. I don't use that anyhow.
Any thoughts?

[Q] Keeping 3G unlimited data plan

I was trying to buy an Inspire off craigslist today, but didn't end up get it because my data didn't work with my $30 unlimited plan.
After researching here, it sounds like most people are able to get upgraded into $30 4G unlimited. Just wondering how reliable is this. I won't be able to return it if I keep it.

You can keep your unlimited plan. I've been using the Inspire since launch day, and I'm still on my $30 unlimited. I've also seen around that you can ask AT&T to switch your current unlimited to 4g unlimited. Be careful though: make sure you insist on keeping your unlimited data. I, personally, have decided not to attempt to change mine to 4g unlimited. 2 reasons: one being that I find it a hassle to get help from a competent rep and the second reason being that 4g doesn't even exist yet, so speeds are essentially the same.
there is no reason your 30$ unlimited plan shouldn't work. I'm still using my 30$ unlimited iphone data plan so i can switch between my iphone and inspire.

Question about Skyrocket and AT&T data metered data?

I currently have a Epic 4G Touch over on Sprint with their craptasic unlimited data. I'm lucky to speed test 5~30kbps on 3G, yes you read that correctly. I've been a 10+ year Sprint customer and the more and more smart devices they get, the slower the network becomes.
I think it might be time to jump ship!
So, my buddy just had the same issues as me, slow 3G. He flashed a Verizon PRL file to his phone and well, lets just say got out of his contract without paying an ETF.
He just picked up the Skyrocket and could NOT be happier. He came over to show the phone to me the other night and and his data speed was amazing! Unfortunately, we have no 4G where I live so I'm stuck on 3G but both his LTE and 3G were blazing.
He has a 3GB a month LTE packages that is metered for the LTE but he claims the 3G is unlimited. Now, pretty much everyone in my office but myself has an AT&T iPhone and they are all saying they do NOT have anything unlimited and that my friend is mistaken. I'm trying to figure out which is correct because I'm thinking about picking up a Skyrocket this week. Is it different between say an iPHone and an Android?
Thanks!
They throttle you after 5 gb if you are on a grandfathered unlimited plan. If you are on a tiered plan you dont get throttled and if you go over your limit they add another whatever gb you had to your bill. So if you had 3gb for $30 and you go over it, they give you another 3gb and charge you another $30

That's true or you can get 1GB for $10...
So then my friend is full of sh__... He is a brand new AT&T customer as of about two weeks ago and he is very insistent on the fact that the only metered data is the LTE, the 3G is unlimited.
He seems very sure that when his LTE is out, he can just jump on 3G and use that at no additional cost until his cycle resets.
I thought that sounded wrong.

It doesn't matter what he's on when data runs over 5gb hes done and back to 1995 dial up speeds

If he's a NEW customer then he should not have ANYTHING unlimited. Which means he will be most surprised when he get's his phone bill and has overage charges, because they won't throttle the limited plans. He will still get 4G once he exceeds his data limit, AT&T will just start charging overage charges.

[Q] Tired of paying too much for 3 grandfathered AT&T Unlimited Data lines; options?

[Q] Tired of paying too much for 3 grandfathered AT&T Unlimited Data lines; options?
OK, I've had three Unlimited Data lines on my AT&T family plan since 2008 ($90 a month for the data alone). I've had AT&T/Cingular for far longer. Two of the lines are no longer on contract and I'm ready to switch to T-Mobile's Walmart plan ($30 a month unlimited text/3G data; 5GB 4G data; 100minutes). It seems like a waste to let three grandfathered Unlimited Data accounts go when there are so many people who want them but I have no idea how a transfer would work.
-I have a coworker who wants only one line, so can I transfer them individually or would we have to cancel two?
-Is there a way to use these as Unlimited Data for a tablet or mobile hotspot? IOW, can I turn one into data-only lines, stop paying for minutes, and stick it in an iPad or something?
-Is there a market for selling grandfathered Unlimited Data accounts?

I get my service for free and you should too. Unlimited Voice/text/data(4g)throttled at 4 gigs. They are partnered with Tmobile so its the same service. They send you a pay card that you can get rebates from Top retailers with upon enrollment. They also deposit $20 a month into it for every 3 ppl who enroll under you and $10 a month for every 3 ppl those ppl enroll too..All unlocked tmobile or at&t phones will work aswell.
message me for more info or check out tiredofcontracts.com

I imagine it is much easier for T-mobiles automated system to track total data usage vs tethered data usage.
I know I used to have the 2GB plan, and getting throttled sucks. My question is, why do you need to tether 20 gb a month?
Also, why does everyone on this forum trying to find ways around paying their bills? At first I thought people were having real issues tethering, then I realized people are having issues tethering, that didn't have tethering on their plans. And were COMPLAINING that they couldn't tether.

Is leaving at&t grandfathered unlimited plan for a Tmobile plan worth it?

I was throttled a few times already when reaching 5gb on at&t's grandfathered plan. I'm still on contract with one of my phones until may but as soon as that happens I plan to leave. For now, I'm leaning towards getting rid of my grandfathered unlimited plan for the 10gb data share plan for the family and I. Has anyone made this decision before, would you recommend tmobile nowadays? And is the cheaper at&t 10gb plan in the meantime a good idea as well?
I left Sprint with it's unlimited data for T-Mo. Haven't looked back. However, it's all about coverage. T-Mo doesn't have anywhere near the coverage AT&T does. You just need to make sure you'll be in T-Mo range where ever you are most.
Sprint had spotty coverage in my area with next to no signal in my house. T-Mo is much better unless I'm traveling. Daughter is in college about 3 hours away. Complete dead zones when driving there with T-Mo.
Maybe check out cricket. You can get 20gb on att for 55 with autopay. It's limited to 8mps on lte and 4 on hspa plus but you can still do everything with 8 down.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I just switched to Cricket from att the other day. Don't really notice a difference, but it is limited to 8mb. I'll pull just over that sometimes. Saves me $600 a year so, I couldn't care less.
TMO unlimited reporting in. I get consistent speeds of 30mb/s up. And with OPO, you can tether all the time. I actually canceled my dsl with AT&T and only use TMO. I use around 100gb/m. And most importantly, there are never any weird charges on my bill, it's always exactly the same amount each month.
$55 ATT Unlimited here. i dont wanna switch/
Didn't the courts just tell AT&T that they can't throttle people on an unlimited plan? Something along the lines of unlimited should actually be unlimited. I think they fined them a buttload too.

FCC is suing ATT, but didn't win yet. Even if they do, after 4-5 years, everyone get a what ? $50 settlement ?
Most likely by then, more than 80% of the grandfather plan users would already switched to AT&T's new plan with 15GB or 30GB.
They simply want to make your life miserable so that you have to switch.
Thus, I made my mission to use ALL Data possible with 4G just because they did this.
I used T mobile unlimited 4G plan.. I found it great .. I downloaded like 60~80 GB in 6-7 days
