Shield tablet modification question - Shield Tablet Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I have an original shield tablet that has been deactivated, it is the LTE version.
So now I have an opportunity to acquire a fully functional motherboard from the same generation, the only difference is it is wifi only so can anyone tell me if it can be modified with the necessary components from the bricked tablet so that a sim will work with the wifi only board?
Is it just a matter of swapping over the component the ribbon from the antenna on the back cover attaches into, is that the only difference between the two or is there more to be considered? Sorry I probably haven't explained it too well.

[Q] Freescale imx515 A8 (FR-809) - solder GPS to SoC ?

Im doing some smuggling business in my country, Android tablets are very popular, and I get good price difference when buying in China and selling in my country.
First time - I bought FT2 (Superpad, Infotmicx220) and 2 units were faulty.
second time - I bought FR-809's and one unit was broken.
so, I was trying to fix it on my own, and opened the unit (no screws version, dual speaker) and it was bad soldering. the battery/SoC connection was off, so I fixed it.
now the tablet works, but I already sold all other units, so I want to experiment.
One of my broken Superpads is with internal GPS receiver, no need for GPS Antenna. so, Idea struck me - could it be possible to solder GPS unit onto the Freescale SoC .. ?
Android would handle the reception, it's all there, I just need to figure out if it's possible, and if there is even an option to solder GPS receiver onto SoC ?
that internal receiver from Superpad is awesome, and it would be awesome if I could have GPS on my FR-809 tablet.
could someone please tell me is there a "free slot" for soldering stuff. like a PCI bus on motherboards ? and, would system be able to recognize the newly soldered GPS receiver ?
anyone ?
Im also thinking about soldering SIM slot onto it, at least for 3G cause i believe it needs a whole lots of other stuff for GSM function to be enabled (voice radio, n such)

XT720 Parts

Anyone have a broken XT720 they are willing to part out or maybe already started to part out?
I replaced my digitizer glass today (boy was getting the glass removed a pain in the ass!) and when I was reassembling the phone the white antenna cable end broke off that pushes down onto the mainboard.
You can see the cable at the 5m mark in this disassembly video (not mine):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_WCVqEMZbU0&t=5m
(The video is good but unfortunately stops before taking out the digitizer glass)
I initially thought this may be for wifi antenna (same antenna cable found in laptops on wifi card) but I still have good wifi signal, but I am unable to register on network so it may be going to cell radio and not wifi radio.
I may try and make one out of an old laptop cable, but I would have to cut it/solder it to get the right length (and thats if the connector is the same), so I am hoping someone is willing to part with one!
Thanks!

XOOM 2 Battery Problems and Bypass Fix needed

Hi
I have major problem with my tablet and usb socket has been pried from board have taken a quick look at damage and a replacement or solder of new one is out of question and metal contacts on pcb has been damaged also.
I am wondering if anyone knows a way of bypassing so I can still charge.
Can I bypass the small circuit board where USB connector is and hard wire battery connections directly onto USB itself.
This tablet has always served me so well dont want to give up on it just yet as cant afford a new one.
Fairly confident with soldering etc just curious as to whether it will work and best way to wire it up

[Q] Broken antenna connector

Hi everybody,
some days ago my Macbook PSU fell on the screen of my beloved Nexus 5, crashing it without mercy. I bought a new screen and proceeded to change it,.
Opening the phone I discovered that the PSU fell exactly on the connector for the 3G antenna cable, bending it and disconnecting it from the mother board... i reassembled the phone anyway. Now i have a nexus 5 with a shiny new screen but without 3G connection.. 2G works fine but it's quite frustrating, 4G still isn't a viable option here in Italy.
Do I need a new motherboard or there is anything I can try to fix that? I still have the small metal ring that fell from the motherboard, and the connector on the cable looks ok
Or maybe I can try to sell my N5 and buy a new one? How much could mine be worth, without warranty and without 3G?
Thank you to anyone wishing to help!
no one?

[Q] Antenna connector

I am hoping to salvage my wonderful nexus 5. When replacing the screen I partial pulled the 3g antenna connector off of the main board. Now I randomly have service. Sometimes pushing on the back of the phone works to reestablish service, normally it does not. I was curious If I could get a custom antenna wire that would go from what i believe is the antenna test point to the normal connector on the bottom. If you think this would work any suggestions on where I could get that type of connector made
