Tizen watches has no regional separations between firmwares. And all firmwares include SPay support. Only matters serial number of you phone - if samsung decided to not enable SPay on it - you will not get it. Pretty easy.
P.S. As proof, just installed SPay tpk with sdb, and as expected it said not "install" but "update" action - so this proofs that SPay was already pre-installed. On other side, my watch was produced for Turkey region and SPay is supposed to start working on that country only at the end of this year. So no SPay app is visible on watch (but it is 100% installed there)

Is it possible gear is using CSC used in android based device to determine between regions?
The released firmware has 160mb of csc.img which contains almost all regions; while the combination firmware only contains this:
Code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<SW-Configuration>
<MobileData>
<PublicName>SM-R760</PublicName>
<NickName />
</MobileData>
<CustomerDataSet>
<CSCName>R760FAC</CSCName>
<CSCVersion>2BQC4</CSCVersion>
<NbCustomer>0</NbCustomer>
</CustomerDataSet>
</SW-Configuration>
If only there is a way to change the active CSC...

Please help.

Can somebody confirm:
1.
Espanol/spainish Language is inside this Firmware?
2.
If inside, if it work proper...
Thanx in advance.
I need too much time to extract and to unsquash Language package...
Maybe later...

So you haven't SPay at your phone also?
Here in Brazil we already have SPay for phones available here since almost 1 year ago.
Samsung announced 3 days ago, SPay at Gear S3 will be released on may/12, same day as Galaxy S8 start to be delivered (in pre order now).

Is there a work around being able of updating with another country settings? Mine is American, with Samsung Pay avaiable. I live in Brazil, where Gear S3 supports Pay also. The american software asks for a 5 digit zip code in order to add a credit card and the brazilian version don't. I believe that is why my card is not being accepted, once other people who uses the same bank and brazilian version of Gear were able to validate.
I would like to try the "brazilian version" of firmware. How to force it to recognize mine watch as a brazilian one?

I recall a thread with someone using spay on a US S3 in Singapore. Put a valid zip code like 91210 and add your card. It should be accepted If your bank supports spay.

Thx, but that was the first thing I did.
If I use the first 5 digits of my CC Address it goes to the next validation step. If I try "Beverly Hills" one it won't work. But on the next validation step it gives me an error. This validation is placed on an externa App. People here with brazilian S3 don't need to input their ZIP on validation step and are able to use CC from my bank. Since my bank is stupid on working it around, my hope was to chance my CSC or something to use the "brazilian ROM".

No luck either. The problem is the Samsung Pay region, for sure. People from Brazil with brazilian S3 says that their version doesn't ask for a ZIP code and they had success on validating CC from the same bank as mine. Santander Visa Platinum works on my S3, but that's my wife card...

Hi @Cricket-RJ,
Do you have any update about the Samsing Pay in Brazil to work with Gear S3 US?
Is there a way to install just the ZTO CSC in US Gear S3?
Thanks in advance.

Yep. It's working now. Had to do nothing about it.
I'm now able to use Santander and Banco do Brasil cards with it. The problem was actually with Banco do Brasil.

Help .I get stuck in Step 5: Choose the Access point with the same name appears on your S3.
I don't know to get to the AP of my gear. Thanks for all your work.

Can you return to the version [R760XXU1APK7] [2.3.2.1] ????

Can someone please tell me what the benefits of flashing a ROM such as this one is? I'm on the latest stock, official ROM at the moment.
Thank you.

[MF3] get service menu and unlock

you can unlock in MF3 OTA firmware!! I did it!!
you CAN get the service menu!! I did it.
heres how.
ok so I bought my phone, att galaxy s4 i337, came with mdb or mdl im not sure really..........
I went to take off sha 256 to 0 and it was set like that from shipping...
ok so I didn't read the instructions well and I thought it was already unlocked (I didn't get the other sim card yet to test out the lock).
so OTA MF3 pushed out to me.
I rooted with the pwn sim card hack. worked in MF3 like a charm! a supers. now I have root in MF3.
locked bootloader? NO WORRIES!!!
so my other sim card comes and it isn't unlocked!!!!! @#@$#@
what to do now?
I found a utility on the google play called "Samsung service mode". yep the T-Mobile guys know the file system trick for syste.hiddenmenu=1. its in the file system........ so apparently im lazy and this app does it for you goto the t mobile section to see how to do it in the file system and apk hack.
but it works!!
I NOW HAVE SERVICE MENU BACK IN MF3 OTA!!!!!
ok now that I did that, I went to try to unlock it again.
I still have the sha256=0.
so I did the NV rebuild with the gold backup.
IT WORKED!!
popped in my other sim, and no unlock screen!!!
sooooooooooo a little more options for everyone complaining on no service menu in MF3.
CAUSE THERE IS!!! its a file system hack or run the application.
I hope this helps someone!!
thanks

thanks for posting the links.
I haven't tried the manual method instead of the service mode app.
however the post is in the t mobile section
u can do a search for "hiddenmenu" or "hidden menu" and u should find the file mods instead of buying the app.
so that is a free option
perhaps someone can code it into a free app here?
any takers?
tnx
Well for my factory MF3 it didn't work, or probably I didn't do it correctly.... You should make a little tutorial on how to use this app combined with the unlock method under service menu.. In my case had to order the code..

when u run the service mode program, u have to click on "US phone only, show hidden menu"
after that, u can goto " *#27663368blahblah" from the program
and your menu appears!!!
the program doesn't ask for root.
(which I do have).
hope that helps!

Yeah I follow those steps. but when I go to select [6] NETWORK LOCK my screen shows this.

"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
And when tap PERSO_256 info I go to this one..
Then I tap SHA256_ENABLED_FLAG[1] and returns me exactly to the Main Menu again.. So I can't continue to step 7 and so on....
great! service menu in MF3 works!
ok great! so u can get to the menu.....
the nv rebuild is accessible...
however yes you cant flip the sha256 flags, that is missing in the menu.
for people who have it off already, then u can just do an NV rebuild to the gold image
(that's what I did!!!)
so that's how I unlocked in MF3 OTA
but yes getting the service menu back works now, as u have verified.
there may be another way to turn the sha256 menu's back on.
we need someone to check it out further.
but we are closer.
hackable
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=42037142&postcount=12
ok so that's the previous thread on the hiddenmenu.apk.
im assuming that's what "Samsung service mode" application is using / editing, a system variable to use this apk.
all the other threads refer to hiddenmenu.apk.
sooo all we need is a replacement hiddenmen.apk to reenable the sha256 functionality.
why?
look in the code. it was decompiled.
the menu is in the code.
can we replace the new hiddenmenu.apk with the old one from MDL and get the option to enable / disable sha256?
I think its doable and easy.
anyone have the skills enough to try?
this would be a good hack to do for MF3 OTA.
Thanks good_shepherd33 for figuring this out. I had been searching for a method to SIM unlock my phone and finally using "samsung service mode" program, followed by the NV Rebuild steps mentioned above unlocked my phone.
Note that I already had the code from AT&T but it was not working. Also note that to date, I had tried the code more than 5 times. But minutes ago, I bought the service mode program, and in the service menu sha256 was already off (0). Then I did NV rebuild as described in the above link, and inserted the foreign SIM card, again asked for the network key, but this time when I enter the code AT&T game me, it accepted, and the foreign SIM card worked.

if the app doesn't work for you, then try the manual method posted in the tmobile section.
I think the app only works on US phones....(as the menu item says).
the manual method may work on all phones, I don't know I haven't tried the manual service menu enable method.

if ur flag is set to 1
then u just use an unlock code
u cant use an unlock code when its set to zero apparently.
so $10 for it.... still worth it.
Eh sorry man, but 10 dollars is 10 dollars. unlocking should be free IMO anyways. This isnt even my phone lol im just messing with it for a friend. Thought unlocking it would of been a bonus. But it seems I don't have all the SHA256 options listed in the steps, Thats all i need is a way to flip this flag to ZERO, then complete the rest of the procedure.
Right now out of boredom, because it seems we do not have unlocked bootloader been decompiling the apk's to see if there is something they might off quoted out or took out all together to make these options not visible. Nothing has stood out to me yet.
OR even something liek this that I could run in terminal to flip the flag or bring it the menu with all the options.
Code:
am broadcast -a android.provider.Telephony.SECRET_CODE -d android_secret_code://1111

I don't see the option to restore the gold image. It says no store image available. Does anyone have any idea?

So let me try to wrap my gead around all this because I'm brand spanking new to this and I've read a lot of threads and I'm still more confused than I originally started. If I root my phone with this method I will be able to have the camera shortcut at the bottom right of my screen? Will anything else be changed? I've read this Knox thing a few timea now and I never use it and my phone doesn't have a warranty so is it a big deal? And from my readings there's this triangle away thing that can reset the Knox value so it technically resets the warranty?

Root allows you to mess with stuff on the phone that is normally off limits to you.
If I root my phone with this method I will be able to have the camera shortcut at the bottom right of my screen?
Click to collapse
Since the camera shortcut on the lockscreen is probably just some line that needs to be added to a file, you will be able to get it, but you won't get it just by rooting. You will have to find out how to modify your system files to get the shortcut. I'm pretty sure as soon as the KitKat update rolls out in a region that has the shortcut, there will be tutorials on how to do this.
Will anything else be changed?

You will get the superSU app in your app-drawer which is used to control which apps get access to root functionality (to avoid malicious apps to mess with your phone)
Your KNOX will be tripped. This won't affect the behavior of the phone, as long as you don't plan on using the KNOX application on your Galaxy S4.
(Not sure about this one) Your binary counter will increment by 1, causing your system status to change from "Official" to "Custom", which will disable the automatic updating functionality (via the settings menu) of your device. You can always flash newer system software using ODIN, but you will have to reroot afterwards. It is not recommended to apply OTAs to a modified (i.e. rooted) ROM anyway so this isn't a big deal.
I've read this Knox thing a few timea now and I never use it and my phone doesn't have a warranty so is it a big deal?

If you don't have warranty anyway, its no big deal. Like I said above, the only effect a triggered KNOX flag has, is that you cannot use the KNOX application.
And from my readings there's this triangle away thing that can reset the Knox value so it technically resets the warranty?
Click to collapse
Triangle away resets the binary counter which I mentioned above. This is something entirely different than the KNOX flag. If you flash your system updates with ODIN instead of using OTAs (which I would recommend since OTAs usually don't work properly if you modify your ROM by rooting it) you can ignore the binary counter and thus, don't need to use tools like triangle away.
I would advise you to ask any questions that may remain BEFORE you attempt to mess with your device. Even though the devs (like chainfire) try to rule out every source of misusage, rooting and modifying your device still carries a high risk of turning it into a 600$ paperweight. You should be 100% sure of what you are doing, and try to read up as much as possible on how to do it, and what can happen.
I hope this helps!

Root allows you to mess with stuff on the phone that is normally off limits to you.

Are you saying I might not have to root my phone at all to get this feature? It might just come out on another version on it's own? I'm might be wrong but all i9505 versions with the stock 4.4.2 German has to slide the entire lock screen to the right to access the camer or favourite apps list. I'd be surprised if samsung finally changed how the lock screen worked on the i9505 whwn it's been this way since I first bought the phone last year.
ive read that you can edit a file using an app called root browser that's the only way I know how to get the camera app on the lock screen as it shows as an example on my lock screen settings.

Since the file you will most likely have to edit is a system file, you will need root in order to access it. The system partition is read only, and only root allows you to set it to read/write.
The reason why I mention is that the shortcut seems to exist in the leaks and, if I am not mistaken, a similar difference between regions existed for 4.3 ROMs for the GT-I9505.
Root explorer is a great app. But you will need root in order to leverage its full set of features.
ninja edit: here's a screenshot of the XXUFNAD leak which seems to have the shortcut, so it is there/has been there at some point
ninja edit 2: according to the comments in this article on sammobile, DBT ROMs don't have the camera shortcut.
How important is it to put the CWM on my phone? I read that if I don't intend to use Nand (or something like that) I don't really need it.
Is it possible to pick a different rom and install it to my phone? Or woukd only the DBT german rom work on my i9505? If I can avoid rooting that's what I'd rather do.
Edit l: so upon more research I can install any firmware for 4.4.2 as long as it's for i9505 model. I just need to figure out which one has the camera shortcut icon on the lock screen or wait to sre if DBT will get a fix.

SM-G935P Root - Updated 10/25/2016

Below, not only will you find step by step instructions on how to root your device but also a FAQ section in post #2 that will guide you through the problems most of us encountered in the beginning. It is highly recommended that you read through all of it. Basic knowledge of ADB is required and if you don't have it then you should definitely read the FAQ section for ADB set up. Make sure you have all the files downloaded.
Update 10/25/2016: Attached at the end of this thread is a modified debloat script for knox removal and a few other apps. This will make your root experience a heck of a lot smoother than before. Just flash the zip using FlashFire without changing any settings. You may notice a reboot or two. There are few bloatware apps that will still be there (amazon shopping, amazon videos, amazon photos, etc) that you'll have to remove manually. Happy flashing and don't forget to hit that Thanks button down below!
Disclaimer:
This root method is NOT for beginners. It is NOT easy. If you don't get it then DON'T do it. Especially if you're worried about voiding the warranty and blah blah blah. Simply put, don't do it if you don't have the slightest idea of what you're doing. I'm tired of complaints. This guide is not for the faint of heart. Do this at your own risk!
Package Disabler Pro is required to get this rooting method working. Yes, it costs money ($.99) but it's the way I acheived this work around at the moment.
Be prepared to lose data (LTE) connection but don't be scared as it's an easy fix.
Make sure you don't have Secure startup set up before you start the process. Having this set up causes issues.
Must have ADB set up and installed system-wide.
This root method should be used with PE1 firmware for both the GS7 and the GS7 Edge. Although this root method might work with the latest firmware, users have been reporting issues dealing with APN's on the newest update. Look at post 2 FAQ's returning to stock for flashing PE1 firmware through Odin.
Do not update to PJ2 if you want to keep service with your root. Phone calls and text messages won't come through after rooting on PJ2.
Files you will need:
Odin by Princecomsy: http://www.filedropper.com/princecomsyodin
G935A: http://www.filedropper.com/samsungg935xqcrootedboot (S7 Edge)
G930A: http://d-h.st/o3hm (S7)
SuperSU: https://download.chainfire.eu/970/SuperSU/SuperSU-v2.76-S7QC.zip
Click on the BLUE "download" links. Extract everything into a folder easy to locate.
Here we go:
After downloading and getting set up Package Disabler Pro, you'll need to disable the following three packages:
samsung dm phone interface
samsung dm service
securityLogAgent.
Use the search box to easily find these packages.
Power off your device and boot into download/bootloader mode by pressing and holding the volume down, home, and the power button. Press volume up to get into bootloader.
Open PrinceComsy odin and flash the engineer boot.img by clicking AP and navigating to the file for your model. Click start and your device should reboot by itself.
Enable developer options by going to Settings>About Device and tapping Build Number till it shows Developer mode has been turned on. You will now have Developer options under the settings menu.
Enable USB debugging in the Developer options settings.
Extract the SuperSU zip and run the root.bat file. Your phone will reboot if the script is successfully ran.
Next, we'll get LTE data back:
Method A: BuildProp Editor (easiest method)
Open Build.Prop with BuildProp Editor and change the following settings:
ro.cdma.default_numeric=310000 to 310120
ro.cdma.default_alpha=Chameleon to Sprint
ro.build.characteristics=Chameleon to Sprint
Make sure you grant root permissions when it asks. You may have to try this twice. Reboot and LTE should stick.
Method B: Manual activation (also if you're not able to make any calls)
Enable the three packages disabled in step 1. Go into the phone dialer and type in ##72786# and your phone should reboot and begin the activation process. After the 5th retry, it will manually activate itself. It should say "writing to device". Don't click done yet. Press the home button and disable the three packages once again. Reboot.
Alternatively, after renabling the three packages and dialing ##72786#, you can go into Settings>Activate this device and manually try to activate it yourself. It still must say "writing to device". Don't click done. Disable the packages once again. Reboot. Voice and LTE should stick.
Download S7_or_S7Edge_Fixes_V15.zip to your internal or external storage and install install FlashFire from the playstore.
Open FlashFire and let it acquire root access. Click the + button at the bottom right corner then click on Flash ZIP or OTA. Navigate and select the S7_or_S7Edge_Fixes_V15.zip. file. Leave the options alone and click the check in the top right. Scroll down to the bottom and click flash. Your phone will reboot and flash the zip. This can take a while.
Go to Settings>Lock screen and security>Other security settings>Security policy updates and turn off "Automatic updates" and "Wi-Fi only". Reboot. This seems to be the culprit of the 7 day soft brick.
Open back up Package Disabler Pro and search for "software update". Disable both packages (com.sec.android.soagent and com.wssyncmldm)
Enjoy your rooted device with minimal to almost no lag.
???
Profit.

FAQ's:
My WiFi credentials keep on getting erased after a reboot. What gives?
A: This seems to be an issue across all the QC S7 variants. Here's what I did to fix it. Download BuildProp Editor and change: ro.securestorage.support=true to ro.securestorage.support=false
Credit goes out to: @guaneet for this fix
Can I install Xposed?
A: Yep. Here's how to do it:
fnztakedown said:
Alright. Here is a DB link of the two files I had installed to get xposed working. To flash this you will need flashfire.
Process is simple. Download both files and install the apk.
Open flashfire> select flash new file> find the xposed zip, flash. Give it a solid 5-7 minutes during boot up.
Ensure you do not have any major packages disabled and ensure you have BACKED UP YOUR ROM VIA FLASHFIRE. Please be aware, this was successful for me on the 935T and I do have random reboots at time. I cannot confirm this is the cause yet. I would also suggest finding the uninstall zip in the event you have issues you can flashfire back.

I'm having issues with ADB. Any help?
A: Easiest way to install ADB and its subsequent drivers would be to get it from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588979
It's SO easy to install and it takes most if not all of the hassle out of it.
Credit to @Snoop05 for this easy ADB installer.
How do I enable USB debugging?
A: Go to Settings>About device and tap Build number until it shows Developer options has been enabled.
I'm stuck on the LTE splash screen. What do I do?
A: Press and hold the Volume Down + Power button down until your phone restarts. If you keep on getting stuck at the LTE splash screen you may have to factory reset your device. As soon as your phone restart quickly press the volume up + home + power button and let it boot into recovery. Wipe data/factory reset and cache partition.
I'd like to unroot and return to factory stock. How would I go about this?
A: Head on over to @psouza4's post HERE and follow his steps in the return to stock section. The steps are easy and he's posted mostly all the firmware.
[*]Does this method trip Knox?
A: No, it doesn't. And flashing back to stock will allow Knox to work again, as long as you didn't flash files from other sources (there are some that will trip Knox, so be careful).
[*]Does Samsung Pay work?
A: No, sorry. They can detect the rooted boot environment through a driver, so you can't even hide root from the app using RootCloak.
[*]Does Android Pay work?
A: It does, but you have to make a change that disables root and then reboot your phone. You can toggle this back/forth without flashing, but you either get root or Android Pay at any one time.
[*]What happens if I brick my phone?
A: As long as there are stock images to flash back to, it's almost impossible to do this no matter how badly the process goes. Check that we have stock images; if we do, then we can always flash them over the device using the unroot method in this guide. That practically guarantees a return-to-stock experience for a phone as long as it doesn't have any serious physical damage preventing it from powering on.
[*]I installed the ADB system-wide on my Windows computer/laptop, but I see "'adb' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file".
A: Your user profile path can't contain a space. That means if your Windows user is 'Somebody Nice' and thus your Windows user path is 'C:\Users\Somebody Nice', the install will fail. You can create another user on your computer (if prompted for a Microsoft login, choose to make only a local account) and enter a short, single-word name for your user. Sign into and use that user profile instead. Also, the path where you extract the SuperSU package can't contain a space, so try extracting them to somewhere simple like perhaps C:\S7Root.

I sure miss root. I read Samsung will be releasing factory unlocked phones that support all US Carriers however that doesn't necessarily the bootloader will be unlocked.

This is correct.
Sorry, I've been away and just got back to my computer. So far it seems that I am having issues activating the device after flashing the engineer boot.img through odin. It seems that after the 5th retry it will activate and write to device but will then restart and the whole activation process will start back over. I'm trying to see if I can use disabler pro to stop the reactivation process and I'll see where it goes from there.
My S7 is unlocked and with the activation problem, I feel I already know the answer, shouldn't affect me, right?
Since it's a matter of punching in APN info

Try it and let us know. And if it works, let us know the APN info would you?
I figured it was something to do with the APN info too but when I hit up my friend about the APN info (who isn't rooted) he told me the information was grayed out so I couldn't get a hold of the info.
My S7 edge SM-G935v is working great But running very HOT!!! Any Fixes?

Still getting reboots. It connects to LTE and does fine for a few minutes. Then it'll reboot randomly. I disabled the DM service as suggested. I also disabled System Update and Software Update. Thoughts?
EDIT: Also, it says Samsung in the top left corner and not Sprint. Just an observation.

Are you saying if I install this version without CSC file that it will create*a new CSC? Also, what do you mean by "Limited Functionality"?*Does the watch not function the same after loading this*firmware? Can I install Samsung Pay if I install this?
Samsung Pay preinstalled in each version, in addition to this course.
CSC region is determined by the watch on the MNC code that is connected to the phone at the time of initialization.
Put USA or Singapore SIM + VPN + Fake GPS does not bring any results.
So flash this on a korean import and initialize it with a phone on Singapore network will update the CSC and enable Spay?

Btw.
rootfs.img contains su in bin folder:
/bin/su
So it is rooted. :good:
This Firmware is very interesting also for Mobile Z-series...
Like SM-Z130H, Z3, Z2 etc...
As Combination Files are most not free available...
I have not much Gear expirience nor Gear Watch in my Hands...
So no idea if allready Root solution exists... for Gear S3
Rooting for Z-series was very easy... valid su file/binary inject into rootfs.img...
Best Regards
@se47 who gave you this. Its an internal build. Anyways good job with the availability, hope you don't get shackled for this. When you talk about @locks which locks are you referring to hardware side or the software side.
Internet is full of Combination files...
But most they are not for free available...
Gear series Firmware is generally rare leaked...
If you use Google and search for key word:
Combination file...
You can find many sites... like this:

In your previous post you sounded like rooting is enough to get AW installed so I thought I should ask. I was hoping you would say no tho. I really would like to see android on this watch. Seems it's not gonna happen soon.
Porting android is not hard if we have the right tools and the right information. Having root just opens up the possibilty for the developers to port. As you can see in the other forums the devs are working on getting a root on APK7 firmware, if succesful we can then look at other possibilities of installing a custom recovery or porting it from previous gear builds. Hope this helps.
any updates on whether this will enable S-Pay?
Has anyone flashed this? If it truly is rooted then we can start building custom recovery/boot images. If someone else can confirm for me that this works I will test it out as well...
Btw.
Inside system-data.img is:
device-profile.xml
Code:
/home/developer
Compared with SM-Z130H Combination file...
1:1 same
No idea if this only work if DUID is erased...
If it work, this would be very powerfull file...
Only as info.
Best Regards
Edit 1.
Attached...
NOT tested... maybe it require erased DUID... Factory DUID...
Need confirmation...
If this Combination package is on device...
Option for WiFi Odin is still possible?
Or WiFi is disabled?
And USB cable is mandatory?
In param.bin I saw some Flag...
And I have no idea at the moment, for what...
Something seems diabled...
0x00 instead 0xFF
MI for MIDDLE Debug Mode is clear to me...
It is instead LO for LOW...
Best Regards
Please, need info/confirmation.
If Combination Firmware writes older sboot Bootloader aka downgrade...
This should be possible to test with SDB and this Command:
Code:
cat /proc/cmdline
Thanx in advance.

Success!! R770X changed to R770 with BQC5 firmware!
I can confirm that BQC5 firmware works on my R770X! I now have a fully functioning Gear S3 Classic and it now states R770 with no X at the end. After all the files loaded on NetOdin the watch restarted with French being the only language. Luckily I do Read\Hear\Write it so I went through the process of connecting the gear through the Gear Manager on my S7 Edge and it connected perfectly and then it changed the language to English!
Upon my web search I noticed that the stores where using S7 Edge's to install the Retail Mode app on the watches so I figured that they were retail watches and that meant it was installing\changing the firmware with an X at the end only to differentiate and grab the correct OTA updates. It made sense because when I temporarily disabled Retail Mode within the app itself all the antennas worked (Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Location and NFC) so I knew I had a chance that a stock firmware might work.
I hope this helps out anyone else in my situation. I followed the post with the BQC5 and used those files to accomplish this.
Thank you adfree for all your great help. And also xedamen for your tutorial post. Without both your help & guidance I would have stared at a very expensive watch show me the wrong time.
Repost from the other thread. (Sorry, I don't know if that is how it's done).

Success!! R770X changed to R770 with BQC5 firmware!
I can confirm that BQC5 firmware works on my R770X! I now have a fully functioning Gear S3 Classic and it now states R770 with no X at the end. Nice, it's good news for those who needed
Thank you for a guide and ROM.
What is the country origin of this ROM?
I have the same ROM version installed on my watch and wonder if reflashing could help with SPay (watch was purchased in a country where SPay in not supported) by changing CSC.
Firmware package for OXA region contains more then 1 CSC/Country/Sales Code....
Simple download Firmware and extract files with 7Zip from CSC.
To detect which Sales Code is ACTIVE on your device... look here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=73265182&postcount=68
Only as info.
Best Regards
Hi, thank you for your reply.
As I understand OXA contains several countries.
Is there a way to change country of sales, I need to change it from Ukraine to Sweden?
Thank you.

Yes.
But it is not really easy nor very safe...
You need ROOT access... and at the moment only Combination Firmware offer this...
https://forum.xda-developers.com/gear-s3/development/rom-samsung-gear-s3-sm-r770-t3584402
And their is no 1 click instruction available...
Caution!
I have my own experience only with SM-R732... and some feedback with SM-R760...
So you are at your own with SM-R770...
Risk to brick your device...
Best Regards
I wonder why it doesn't work after reflashing new rom and csc. I understand that OXA is multi region, but wouldn't it work after reflashing non-OXA CSC/rom and back...
If you unpack Firmware and concentrate your eyes on csc.img... use 7Zip for extraction...
Then you can see several folders...
Example DBT for instance...
Code:
DBT
SER
XAR
.
.
.
MANY more countries/Sales Codes supported...
If this text string aka Sales Code is written into your Gear... then device is AUTOMATIC configured for DBT...
I mean this CSC/Sales Code or how ever you want call it... is NOT new since Gear Wearables...
This is since years used mechanism for Samsung handsets...
You could try to google...
Best Regards
Hi adfree!
What do you mean "automatically configured to DBT"?

Feel free to ask me in German.
My English is very limited...
I mean device is doing all configuration WITHOUT ask you... by reading some Settings stored on device...
automatic/self configuration vs. you can choose/select
Best Regards
Hi, your English is good, much better than my German This mechanism of automatic assignment is interesting, I wonder if somebody has found this out.
I think I was reading a thread on forums that people were reflashing different roms and eventually it worked out to change an origin country but it seems like a random process.
Do you know if rom change need a root?

We could try to learn together.
Step by step.
First good idea is to start from scratch... at the beginning...
Lesson 1.
Download Firmware
Lesson 2.
Unpack with Tool called 7Zip...
2.1
Unpack/extract files from csc.img with 7Zip
3.
Now click through folders and look into folder:
Code:
preconfig\
Tell me what you can see...
Best Regards

I will do that tonight.
Yesterday I flashed ROM/BL/CSC from the post header. Default country on my watch hasn't changed (default language is still Ukrainian, no SPAY either)..

Pasdrawlaju tebja. :good:
Again.
This Firmware is for all countries... for model:
Code:
SM-R770
Gear S3 is NO model name... it is """pet name""" and irrelevant as more then 1 model exists...
Code:
SM-R760
SM-R770
SM-R765 and few more variants of...
.
.
.
In Computer world we have only 0 or 1... and it is better to be Byte exact.
So there are BIG difference between:
Code:
o
O
0
Looks similar or same for as humans... but in Computer world these are exact 3 different Chars...
Back to Samsung handset/wearable...
They differ through CSC blablaba crap...
Few examples...
Code:
XAR is US
DBT is Germany
SEK is Ukraine and inside csc.img
SEK is visible in Product Code... if you concentrate your eyes on it...
http://www.samsung.com/ua_ru/wearables/gear-s3-classic-r770/
Code:
SM-R770NZSA[B]SEK[/B]
These 3 Chars are written into Wearable/handset... and are not ever easy to change...
But you have to change inside your device...
Firmware will NOT help you...
SPay crap is not 100 % clear to me, how it work...
If it need an chain...
Like XAR Sales Code in all 2 devices...
Handset + Wearable...
First attempt would be to change your SEK Sales Code to XAR...
It is only theory... I hope XAR is Samsung Pay supported country number 1... because USA
But Samsung Pay is not really interesting for me...
Sales Code is also important if I want to play with Firmware...
Btw... if you unpack all files from Firmware... rootfs.img... then you will find Samsung Pay TPK inside...
Best Regards
Rookie question, CSC file is zipped, then md5, then img.
If I edit one of the files in .img, how do I pack it back to iso and then to md5?
Also can I flash it to the watch without root, knox change etc.?
In preset folder there is nothing than language preset.
MPS folder has some customer settings which are more interesting.
If I edit one of the files in .img, how do I pack it back to iso and then to md5?

Be care fully...
1.
This is "special" TAR Format...
You can "ignore" MD5... this is only for selfcheck... to prevent damage TAR file...
2.
csc.img is an Image of an Linux partition...
Extraction is easier as create valid csc.img with Windows...
Better under Linux mount blabla...
3.
Fnimanie!
Gear S3 is not really Modding friendly...
Higher Security as in Gear S2...
Risk to end up in Bootloop and disabled WiFi...
Best Regards
Has anyone managed to change the area code on your Gear S3? I need to use Samsung Pay and hand it on.
Does anyone know tell me how to change the firmware of Samsung Gear S3 so that it accesses the Samsung Pay app? Has anyone ever succeeded?
