MI4C Mobile network signal issue - Xiaomi Mi 4C

Hi All.
The MI4C worked like a charm for around 4 - 6 months without any issue. Then I have been playing around with custom roms on my MI4C for some time and I was able to run CM-13.1 successfully. There was no problem at all regarding the mobile network strength and its sustainability. Managed to get it running on CM-13.1 for around 2 weeks and suddenly without any warnings the signal issue came up. The signal shows for some time and goes away and never comes back. It rarely shows bars on the signal. Once signal bars are displayed it quickly goes off any the mobile will always be unreachable for any call or sms. 95% of the time the mobile is unreachable.
These are the things that I have already tried.
- I have already unlocked the phone from MiFlashUnlock
- I also have installed the latest of TWRP as the recovery
- Wiped the device many times in the advance wipe mode on TWRP ticking all the possible ticks.
- I tried buying a new casnig which comes with a new SIM tray just to see if it still works. BTW - There were no physical damage or any sort of thing on the phone at all.
- I also have tried flashing the modem from the same version installed, but still no luck.
- I have tried installing the developer version of MIUI, the stable version, global version, RessurectionRemix, TeamSuperluminal all ROMS shows the same network issue.
I am sure this should be a thing which could be fixed from the software side. because it worked well without any issue before trying cm13.1. Before it had the stable version of MIUI.
This is the current ROM i have on the phone.

Cm 13.1 is known for having mobile signal issues.
I don't understand why going back to miui did not worked. Maybe it is a hardware problem after all.

But it did work on C13.1 for some time. If its hardware what could be the things to be replace? any idea?

Did you try to replace your SIM card it can usually cause bunch of issues

Yes. I tried with many SIMs

I found this. Maybe you corrupted your imei. There are multiple reason why its not working. You have to investigate each and every one.

sorry for bumping into this thread after so many months, but have you solved your problem? Because I have the exact same issue and I can't figure a solution out, I tried different roms (AICP, LOS, AOSP, then back to Miui) with no effect.
What's even weirder, this issue came from nowhere, one day everything was fine and the following day the signal got so much worse.
My sim works fine in another phone.

No solution found. The phone is still there with the issue without any change. Bought a new phone so gave up finding a solution to it.

The same Problem occured to me a few months ago. The signal was suddenly gone and never came back no matter what rom I tried. I was quite desperate and even changed the antenna cable but that did not help either.
What a shame. I really like the phone but because of this signal problem it's kinda useseless.

same problem with me, and same no solutions....

[Q] OTA 2.3.4 update(Nexus S 4g) Battery, and Signal Strength

Hey everyone, I am enjoying the nexus s 4g(traded in my Evo 4g) but I have noticed some issues started to pop up after the OTA update to 2.3.4.(Build GRJ22). Also I am not rooted yet(for fear i will not be able to receive the next update that may resolve the issue's listed below).
Note I have updated my Profile, and PRL(Next to flashing to another ROM to mitigate the issue's).
1) Battery Charging, after the update the battery will not charge past ~95 percent.
2) Battery Life when idle, before the update battery life was outstanding with moderate usage. Now the device's battery life drops to ~85 percent after being unplugged for 15-20 mins.
3)Signal Reception, yet again my phone will constantly switch between 1x, and 3g even though my SNR, and DB never hits above ~65DB-~70DB.
4)Data Rate/Bandwidth, I was pulling 3-4 megs down/ 1.5 - 2.0 megs up(I live in the Virginia Beach Area) over 3g, Now I get "**** for speeds"(.3 megs down/.25 megs up. Maybe it is reference to the issue listed above(AOSP ROMS in my opinion provide a more accurate display of mobile network connectivity).
To end it I hope I am not alone with these issues?
Maybe if possible someone has a solution?
The battery thing is a means to keep the battery in better shape its not a bug.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using XDA Premium App
You aren't alone, all of the issues you listed are being looked at by Sprint and Google right now, although like the above poster said, the battery thing is intentional. Hopefuly they figure out what is wrong soon =/
In the meantime, using wifi when possible should alleviate a lot of those issues, mainly battery life on standby.
Many of my battery and network connection issues got mutch better when I turned the wifi to never sleep.

If your constantly going between networks rider is your battery drain thought there. If it was better before then there is hope your problem can be fixed with another ota

The data issues you are having are due to 2.3.4 and they are known. google/samsung are supposedly working on it. But I doubt we will see a fix anytime soon if Samsung is fixing it!
Woa, woa, woa. Wait a second, are you saying that going back to 2.3.3 or whatever the previous version was will alleviate all the signal/radio/data problems? !?!!?
If so, will downgrading stop me from being able to upgrade in the future?

nope. depending on the version you are going back to you'll mostlikely get an insta notification that 2.3.4 is available for your device, you just got to ignore it until they either fix 2.3.4 or release 2.3.5.
2.3.4 is already out. If they release a new fix it will be 2.3.5.
And what the post above mine says about the updates.
I have also seen tat 2.3.3 also has some issues with 3g. But the post I read up could have been all lies

When you "root" the NS4G, you're just unlocking the Bootloader, then installing SU/recovery....I do believe you can still receive OTA updates. The only time you can't is when you're running a custom ROM.

That's why you make a backup of untouched stock ROM.
Hey man, I returned the phone yesterday, and then bought a replacement(same model, but in order to avoid sprint's one exchange limit) With regards to the battery issue, it most likely is hardware related because the new phone running 2.3.4.(Build GRJ22), charges fully and does not have the so called "protect your battery feature". Also while i was at the Sprint Store, I compared the signal strength of my original Nexus S to an HTC Evo, HTC Evo Shift, and another Nexus S 4g. Oddly enough even in the store(which has signal booster's all over the place. All of the phones where around -76db. I am starting to think it is either a hardware issue or a ****ty baseband version. Most likely hardware. Kind of reminds me of the Samsung Captivate i had with AT&T and the ever so wonderful bug with Odin(Orange/Blue flashing screen of death that turned my investment into a paperweight. Also after running the *#*#4636#*#*, and displaying the Preferred Network Settings, I noticed on all 3 phones tested, all devices would switch from WCDMA, to Uknown, to the best of my understanding the default should be CDMA_Auto PRL. Very Strange, very strange indead......... Samsung needs to invest into quality control, before lawsuits start.
Damn! I am on wifi and charging the phone. I just woke up and picked up the phone and started using it. I've experienced that using the phone after an overnight charge, but not removing it from the charger, will make my battery go up to 98%. I just saw it hit 99 and was like I need to get a screen shot of this. By the time I downloaded and installed something it dropped back down to 98. I've never seen this phone hit 99 before today. If it does it again I am prepared to archive it.

My V21e Update

To anyone who cares or was questioning the update. My update is running very smooth, GPS updates super quick, battery life has improved and all my apps are working perfectly. I must be lucky.
First of all, previously to the update I was running CM7 RC-1 with morfics kernel which ran great first of all. But of course i wanted to update to an "official" if you want to call it that.
This is the guide I followed thanks to TGA_Gunmann for posting first.
http://theunlockr.com/2011/05/23/how-to-unroot-the-t-mobile-g2x/
I made sure all the steps went exactly as they were supposed to. And i followed them perfectly.
Now i have this.
My version of OS im running.

Battery
Battery life with my normal to moderate usage. It has been better than my experience with froyo.
Been using this all day as well. Widget and background (bg is a Live Wallpaper also)
If someone were to ask me if they should update, My answer would be yes. I have not had any problems yet. Just make sure you follow the instructions CAREFULLY! Maybe someone will find this at least a little useful.
People are complaining but I rather have the update than be stuck on 2.2. Only. Things worth noticing is the stock camera, but we have to wait 4 more months on the update.

Mine went fine as well but I un-rooted first via 1-click, then did a factory reset, and unmounted interanl SD and format before I attempted. BTW, my battery is about the same but have you been able to uncleck the 2G and have it stick? Mine keeps checking the 2G box.

I now notice it only seems to get stuck in the checked position if there is also active wifi connection, otherwise, if the phone is on 4G, the 2G box can be checked/unchecked and the selection sticks.
I agree if anyone wants to update they should, but the only down fall is losing the nice LG camera. That is the only reason I went back. I take a lot of photos of my son who is 2 years old and I need crystal clear pictures like you get with the LG Camera. I think if you want a stable gb rom, do the update. If you want the LG Camera like I do then do not do the update. Just my two cents.
I can agree. I noticed the camera was a little dark. But I can deal without it. I take meaningless pictures unlike you. Pictures of your son is a good reason to go black. I would probably also jump on board if I were to be using it for tthe same.reason

Just install the latest CM7 nightly. GB without the bull****. Stopped my SODs and reboots.

Note 3 KitKat update has completely broken notifications.

Obviously Samsung weren't happy with their efforts to launch this device with a broken email app. They've gone one step further and broken all push notification support in 4.4.
No longer do I receive email notifications, app notifications, or pretty much anything else.
I have to unlock the phone before I'm told that I had an important meeting an hour ago which had a reminder set 30 mind before. Nor will I receive those stupidly funny pictures of cats with bread crusts on their heads on time.
But it's OK, because calls and texts still work just fine. Who needs important emails as long as you have that text telling you to pick up milk the second it comes through.
There must be laws somewhere to protect us against this stuff. Samsung are shocking.
I would suggest doing a factory reset. I have none of these issues. I have multiple email accounts and calendar reminders that never fail to go off unless the battery is dead. Both the first 4.4.2 and the current build (which is much cleaner in general performance btw).

I've done 5 factory resets in the last 2 weeks.
Notifications SOMETIMES work for the first 2 days, before they stop altogether.
Doesn't matter if I have a clean start with no apps installed, having all the bloatware disabled, etc. It always breaks.
I've tried just using the normal battery cover as opposed to the Samsung Flip cover, makes no difference at all.
I've also noticed that Cell Standby is top of battery usage regardless of what I do. Tested different batteries, sim cards, forcing 2G/3G instead of LTE, etc, also with no luck. The battery reporting is also way off too. 100% to 50% drains stupidly slow, then after 50% it craters to 0% within hours. Again, doesnt matter which battery I use (all official batteries btw). Wiped everything via recovery, nothing works.
Am I just one of the victims of 4.4.2? Because I'm starting to think the phone itself is broken.
Also worth mentioning that its only a few weeks old, so 4.3 hasnt been tested, and now obviously I can't go back due to the bootloader update.
My note 2 runs beautifully on both 4.3 and 4.4
I would take your reset one step further and flash the current firmware via Odin. The factory flash you have might be corrupt. Not likely but it wouldn't be the first time I've seen it.

Whatever your situation is it's your situation. I've been on 4.4 since a leak was released in January and haven't had any of the issues you're describing. The Gear is dependent on device notifications for its feed so its forum would be lit up like a Christmas tree if what you're describing were common. I can't imagine it's h/w related because there's no specific component that would touch the things affecting you. From what you said, I'm assuming your device is receiving whatever's supposed to trigger the notification but you're not being alerted when it arrives/occurs. That sounds like an app conflict or problem in settings.

Strangely enough, notifications work fine when paired with the Galaxy Gear I got free with it. I just rarely use it due to the nature of my workplace.
I probably should have added, the notifications only come through a few seconds after the phone is unlocked. You can visibly see the phone begin to access the network via the icon, and once it downloads, notifications pop.
And worth mentioning that this happens regardless of wifi access point, and on both 2G/3G and on LTE.

Thanks but I'm running the international version.
Decided to bite the bullet and use the latest NE3/NE4 update from Asia, as a few people have reported it to be fine for the n9005 model it was intended for. I can always flash back later.
Will update in due course if anything helps my situation.
I had the same problem with WhatsApp notification
And I figured out that was happening because I hibernated google play store app
Just a quick message to say that the NE3 build seems to have fixed my cell standby issue, but ofcourse this is more than likely down to the full odin flash.
Hopefully it stays that way. Will test notifications during my work day tomorrow.
Yet another thing I forgot to add. Notifications have always worked properly when there is music playing to an external device. I assume this is down to the fact that the phone is always awake, and not in deep sleep like it normally is.
Android system and Android OS are both firmly back at the top of my battery usage as per the 4.4.2 norm. Strangely though I can't get the screen usage up at all.
weird. I have had 0 problems with NE3. Are you sure that you didn't greenify \ deactivate \appops stuff you shouldn't ?
i would love to have cell standby up on top as opposed to Android OS \ Android system though i did see a big leap in standby battery life comming to NE3 from ND3 and they were still on top.

NE3 seems to be significantly better than the ND6 build I was originally on. I can't judge battery life as ND6 was completely broken where tracking battery health, charge, etc was concerned. But I will say that it seems much more accurate.
So far notifications are working flawlessly while I have my flip cover installed. Hopefully it lasts.

I am pretty sure that they will not be able to fix this. With my Xiaomi I hoped for a patch over 6 months and it never came because it was hardware related.

Hi mate... i really think it's an hardware problem... maybe we need to do an RMA.
This kind of problems have already touched several smartphones and tablets (ie. Nexus 7). They have never been fixed in all devices by software.
The only thing we can do about this problem is that it reaches OnePlus somehow. If we keep complaining about it on the JIRA and this forum, maybe it will.
So that they will maybe fix it in some Revision B of the phone or the next one.
I sent a RMA request I hope they will respond soon and with a good response.
I will keep you guys updated
thanks mate... I think i will do the same
It's software problem. No point in doing a rma.

You are kidding right? Have you even opened the links, I waited 6 months for a fix on my xiaomi it didn't get solved because it is hardware problem.
I think it would be too much of a coincidence that this phone also has it and that I am being told that it is software/kernel related again.
Also why are some people having this problem and others don't!

No software issue... Cyanogen closed Jira issue as unresolved
Bye bye OPO

Just saw BACON-55's update...
I don't know what the SCM workflow is at cyanogenmod, but "Resolved" as "Unresolved" looks odd at best. Other issues have been "Resolved" as "Fixed" or "Won't fix"...
Also, I don't know how this issue is not bothering everyone and how OP is going to handle it if it's a hardware issue...

I wrote a letter to OnePlus... you can read it here: https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/touch-sensitivity-issues-a-letter-to-oneplus.73423/
I think it's hardware... but let's see... until OP will not answer we cannot say it for sure

Just read the entire thread and wow... no single response from OP. I've asked for a return, the touchscreen thing is a total deal breaker for me
After the resolution of BACON-55 I've taken a look at the github repos and I haven't seen any commit related to the synaptics drivers, which is where the fix would presumably go.

If this is true then I'm afraid my OPO I ordered will be sent back immediately. Thankfully mine hasn't even shipped yet. Plenty of time to see where the dust settles.

This is driving me crazy, i tried other roms etc, but I also got them in recovery... The strange thing is me and my friends got 8 xiaomi m2s and 3 of them had exactly the same problem. So is this something a lot of android devices suffer from? Is it due overheating, faulty screen or something else? I am a really intensive user so the phone gets hot allot but i would assume they are built to deal with this.
Still no RMA response If I don't get a response soon i should contact paypall buyers protection?

I've order it and waiting(no time as they gave me a tracking number), we will see. Also I'm in a worse condition as I live in Greece and OP doesn't sent to Greece so I did the following:
I have a good buddy in Netherlands, he'll get the phone and send it over to me
P.S. carburano are you having the same nick in the OP forum?
Hi, I don't own this phone, but I have a theory maybe? I know a lot of the phones come with the glue not totally dried, so if you use the phone a lot and it gets really hot, then maybe it thinks that someone is laying a hot hand on the screen?
Same issue
I got the One plus from Swappa and the seller is in touch with a guy named Andy from One plus
They asked me to flash the nightly and see if fixes the issue. I tried it but to no avail.
Flashed the following roms before that.
Latest factory firmware from one plus one
Mahdi Rom
PA official build
still the touchscreen is not responding with ghost touches. which is very annoying TBH
I could easily reproduce this by accessing recovery and rebooting again, and even on TWRP touch doesn't work sometimes and plagued with ghost touches so i had to install Philz recovery.
Then i switched to ART as a final attempt, which seems to have fixed the problem..not sure cause this issue happens randomly i will have to Test more
I'm running the Latest nightly for bacon CM11. its very annoying that they didnt test for these problems considering this was one of the most high profile phone launches in the history.

With my xiaomi m2s I always tough i found a fix because sometimes it went away for 3 weeks, but nothing solved it permanently. I can assure you It is not software, it is random and it is hardware related.

Im gonna send this back to the seller and get a refund...sad thing is non of the reviews even mentions anything about these issues...many people have been effected by this....
I was having ghost swipes on r9 but its definitely seem to be minimized. Shrugs. Not a problem for me. I know its definitely software and not hardware. It'll be resolved eventually.

Lag on swiping and anything else...

Good evening, i have a real big problem with ONEPLUS...
It's become very laggy and slowly, and i think there is some problem with the hardware...
I send you a video for give you a evidence of the problem...
Like you can see on the video, the phone is become laggy, i tried even a wipe data from os.
When i wipe data, the phone become real fast and snappy, but after a wile (sometimes it's like 1 day, and another time it's like 3-4 hours) become like the video...
Is as if the phone for all the time become under some heavy load and for that, become laggy...
I don't really know what to do... i want to send the phone to you for repair the problem...
i've unlock and root the phone.

I tried ANYTHING!
Different rom (cm nightly) different kernel (now i'm on franco, and if i change to normal kernel, it become even more laggy and become so laggy that become difficoult to use).
some time work for a entire day, and sometimes work just for 10-20 secondo before become laggy (after i restart the phone)
no one?
I have the same problems. Especially when I'm typing, it will think two touches are a swipe, or just completely miss a touch. But, whenever I first turn it on it is fine, then after a while it will get bad again. When I flashed the cyanhacker ROM, it seemed like the problem was fixed but after a few reboots it started happening again. Hopefully there is a fix for this.

Yeah I notice this. I thought it was because I wasn't used to typing with such a big screen but I'm beginning to think more and more that it is the phone. I'm typing and it'll miss a letter or something and mess up my text so I will have to go back and fix it.
I experienced similar problems on early versions of cm11s, the 25r and 300 fw, but everything feels alot better of the latest stock 33r.
Have you tried the smooth scrolling fix?
Yes i tried the smoth scrool mod and nothing to do...
i open a ticket with oneplus one but they say there isn't a problem and for them the phone goes well... -_-

Hi Gianmarco,
I believe there is nothing wrong with the phone. I've seen your video and it's just a slight lag and this is normal.
Regards,
Ivan

Hi Gianmarco ,Hi Gianmarco,
This issue seems to be a known problem we've identified as a software issue, and after strenuous testing and development work, we're confident that the next major software update (due in a couple of weeks) will resolve it. As this affects all devices with certain software setups, I'd like to advise you to wait for the update.
Thank you for your understanding!
- Tom
we will see when the update come out!
I have the same problem. About a week ago, Oneplus sent me a patch - installed new CM ROM and Kernel. The problem is even worse now. More phantom touches and touchscreen issues; more crashes & freezes, and in addition, I'm now having issues with my data antenna and not getting phone calls. This is so frustrating, and to make it worse, the Oneplus customer service team takes 2-3 weeks to reply to any inquiry. I'm hoping someone has a ROM/Kernel combination that fixes this, because the benchmark scores for this phone are amazing. It just doesn't translate to practical use.
Any fix guys? My OPO still suffers from this even on the latest cm12.1 nightlies

If this happens to you also on the latest CM12.1 nightlies, then there are two possibilities:
1. You are not on the latest firmware/kernel
2. Your touchscreen is bad, needs replacement.
