Cheap NFC reader/writer - pad/phone - Android General

I need something portable to duplicate mifare classic NFC tags and was thinking I might as well get a cheap Android phone or tab.
Any recommendations to hardware? Any recommendations for software?
Thanks ?

I want to buy NFC tags. Help please

Since our phones have NFC, I want to buy NFC tags. I'm on www.buynfctags.com. They list 2 types of tags ULC and 1K what is the difference and which one can we use with our phone?
Thanks
I am under the impression that both will work and it just has to do with how much data you are looking to write to them.

I bought some from here and they arrived quickly and work great. I am on the Alien 6 ROm so I get to use all the goodness that NFC is.

I bought 5 tags off of ebay a few weeks ago. You don't need the 1k tags if you're using a program like NFC Task Launcher as it's programmed on the phone what to do if it scans a certain tag.
I have mine set up for car, home and work profiles and it works great.

No NFC?

Somewhat disappointed there's no word of NFC on the Infinity, would have liked to play with NFC tags for various settings/configurations. Anyone confirm the lack of NFC?
No NFC, as the specification list would tell you (it's already out, you know )...
EDIT: for the near future and devices aimed at private use, I think I'd suspect NFC only on the really portable devices -- do you see yourself swiping at the cashier's with you cased 10"-er? ; )

Exactly what I was going to say. I have a Galaxy Note and occasionally play with NFC, but other then tasker scripts based on NFC location, I can't think of much else I would use it for on a big ol tablet.

[VIDEO] NFC and the Nexus Devices

I am attempting to demonstrate the NFC capabilities of the Nexus 4 and Nexus 7 devices.
If you are interested in purchasing the same NFC tags that I used, go to:
http://www.tagsfordroid.com
Remember, the Nexus 4 and Nexus 10 devices MUST uses NTAG203 compatible tags, whereas the Nexus 7 and many other devices can use the MIFARE tags.
Great job as usual
Very nice review ! you made me buy a few NFC tags
Thanks for the great video! NFC is so cool...
I did not know about the NTAG203 vs MIFARE thing, thanks! Good thing I delayed buying a bunch otherwise they'd have all been MIFARE

DITTO !
I'm being told that there may actually be a way to get the MIFARE tags to work with the Nexus 4. I'm getting some so I can do my own investigation.
i got some tags last week, love what you can do with them, soon will have them placed all round the house
I have some Samsung Tectiles which are Mifare tags and they work great with the Nexus 4. The only issue is you have to use NFC Task Launcher to program the tags, but other than that they work great.
I JUST received a batch of MIFARE tags, so I will play around with them this weekend.

anyone ever use these nfc tags?

They are designed to work with the version of nfc in the s4. I've never used nfc tags before with any of my phones but the concept seems useful especially since i always use different settings at home and at work.
Also, what else can you do with nfc tags besides just changing phone settings?
I have the circle version which were not supposed to work on the Nexus 4 even though they did fine... I still have the keychain on my keys
They don't work on the S4 and considering that the existing tectiles from Samsung wont work those probably will not work either
they specifically advertise this model as working with the new nfc model
These are NTAG203 tags and should work perfectly fine with your S4.
I just received my NTAG203 tags from tagsfordroid. they work great w/ the s4

i just ordered mine directly from tagsfordroid site, way cheaper than the Samsung branded ones. I actually only see one practical use for me; in the car to turn on bluetooth, and my music app. But i am sure i will think of more uses.

RFID scanning?

Hello,
I have a Galaxy S7 international and rooted Nvidia Shield K1. I lost my wallet I figured out probably somewhere in my house and have looked pretty well and could not find it. I still need to look more but am wondering if any apps make it possible for my S7 to scan for RFID chips that might be in my credit cards? Do I need a scanner to connect to my Android device to do that? It is going to be difficult to find my wallet if it is here as I was in some rooms in the basement where it is really messy.
Is this even possible if the RFID chip is not held up against the scanning tool, or could I detect a chip that is a few feet away?
If not possible..for future it would be interesting if I could put something in my wallet so that I could quickly detect it if it is in the same room.
Thanks
Well, I found my wallet..
