Does the Mate 9 have an Unlocked based on BT or WiFi feature? - Huawei Mate 9 Questions & Answers

Some newer phones (maybe becasue of Nougat?) a feature where the lock screen does not come up if you are hooked to specific blue tooth devices, or on specific WiFi points.
Does the Mate 9 have that capability?

For Bluetooth devices, I believe it works out of the box. For wifi, someone posted a tutorial here how to make it work.

For Bluetooth it works. Using a mi band to bypass the lock screen. Just use unlock with trusted Bluetooth device.

I don't know what mi band is.
So only blue tooth, not by wifi or location? I don't hook to BT in the house. Makes little sense to not offer the feature for when a person is home. I would presume most don't hook to BT at home, at least not all the time.

Thanks. I see. Just have it hooked to that all the time. I'm thinking not ideal, but I guess would do the job.

3G-4G usb dongle

Hi everyone.i am on the verge of buying the note 8 Model: GT-N5110ZWYXAR the version without the sim support cause i couldnt find it in any us store i searched , and because my cousin is bringing it to me, i settled for the wifi only version found at about 285euros at bestbuy.
i am wondering if a usb 3g dongle might work when plugged via OTG cable, something like Huawei E1750 3G USB Modem.
i want an 8 inch tablet with 3g support and this is the best solution i could come up.will it work?i really dont want to go to the other option of a wifi dongle cause they are pretty expensive.
any help would be much appreciated.
ps:if anyone knows where i can purchase the cellural version of note 8 (just the device not with us data plans cause i live in Greece) plz let me know.

Have you tried civato rom+kernel for dongle?

Anyone using a fitbit or comparable wearable fitness tracker?

Just wondering how it works on this device, and in general as I'm thinking of trying for the first time ever.

I'm using a mi band. It works without any problems. The mi app is ok-ish, unfortunately there is no way of using the mi band with other apps. For the price I'm quite satisfied.
The only problem is that the band seems to drain my battery much faster. I guess bluetooth LE is not fully implemented into the opo rom atm. The phone still survives a full day without problems. But before I was able to pull three days out of the battery when needed. The battery of the band is awesome though. The promised 30 days are not a lie.
Up24 works for me now. Had an issue with Up app messing up my GPS rendering Waze & Google navi inoperable. Downloaded AppOps from Playstore and turned off Up app location services and solved my problem.
Happy tracking.

EE WiFi Calling

Is there anyone that is on EE with the S6 and uses WiFi calling?
I've been using it for almost a week now and I'm finding it hit and miss, the symbol comes and goes and some texts don't send even though I'm apparently connected via WiFi calling....my broadband is stable so I know that's not the cause.
Thanks
There's issues on the 5.0.2 firmware with it, they've apparently released 5.1.1 which fixes this, but no one seems to be able to download it...

Well great news if that's the case, I've had to turn WiFi calling off because of the issues I've been facing.

Same, it should be with everyone by the end of the week, but don't hold me to that, as we all know how unreliable EE can be...

Well I've been waiting long enough so a few more days will not make much difference.
Spoke to someone today who said they were doing 10k IMEIs per day, which works out at just over 7 days for the amount of branded EE S6/Edges they have. But again, EE are pretty crap at communication / rolling things out so don't hold me to it.

Ooh didn't know it was available now, though will prefer OTA update. Thanks for the feedback.
It went live yesterday after EE and Samsung cracked there heads together I only did the smart switch due to impatience and the clicking noise was irritating ☺

Maverick I'd suggest hooking your S6 up to your PC with smart switch and upgrading, that's what I did and it went perfectly

Issues viewing remote IP cameras

Strange one this.
I have an LaView POE camera setup at home.
I can remotely view it on my iPhone OK, on WIFI on my Note 5 OK, but not on cellular.
When I used a different phone, it works fine on both.
LaView say it must be an issue with the device - and I have to agree with them.,
But any thoughts on what? Some type of connection protection or something? Its very unusual.

Are you using their app? Have you tried using a 3rd app like ip cam viewer or tiny cam?

Thanks, can you elaborate? The port forwarding is already active and working (as it works on iPhone wifi and cellular). There's only an option on the NVR itself to change one port number and then I forwarded that. Its just on the Note on cellular only it doesn't work, which I can't fathom.
I tried using a different app - but unfortunately with laview it only works with their Peer2Peer system and not a 'direct' connection with the server.
Almost IP cameras work with DC12V power supply, power requirements are different. You can estimate the power requirements on the basis of IR range.
No IR, or IR range within 20 meters: Required Power Supply DC12V 1A
IR range is within 20-30 meters: Required Power supply DC12V 1A
IR range is within 30-50 meters: Required Power Supply DC12V 1.5A

WiFi bridge/repeater

Apparently our device can work as a repeater. Here is the screenshot. Either it's a bug that it's showing that my WiFi is connected or it can work like that.
I can confirm that it's working!
