Strange one this.
I have an LaView POE camera setup at home.
I can remotely view it on my iPhone OK, on WIFI on my Note 5 OK, but not on cellular.
When I used a different phone, it works fine on both.
LaView say it must be an issue with the device - and I have to agree with them.,
But any thoughts on what? Some type of connection protection or something? Its very unusual.

As far as i know. I have swannview and i have to change the port on wifi then change it on cellular. Try looking into that. Might be diffrent but its worth a shot
Are you using their app? Have you tried using a 3rd app like ip cam viewer or tiny cam?

Yea im using their app. And ive never used any other app since theirs works. Their customer service fixed my issue. Thats how i found out about changing ports.

Thanks, can you elaborate? The port forwarding is already active and working (as it works on iPhone wifi and cellular). There's only an option on the NVR itself to change one port number and then I forwarded that. Its just on the Note on cellular only it doesn't work, which I can't fathom.
I tried using a different app - but unfortunately with laview it only works with their Peer2Peer system and not a 'direct' connection with the server.
Almost IP cameras work with DC12V power supply, power requirements are different. You can estimate the power requirements on the basis of IR range.
No IR, or IR range within 20 meters: Required Power Supply DC12V 1A
IR range is within 20-30 meters: Required Power supply DC12V 1A
IR range is within 30-50 meters: Required Power Supply DC12V 1.5A

So I should be able to just plug the phone in and tether away? Sorry, I am new to this, and have never tethered before. I have CoNcast, but it would be nice to be able to take my laptop with me, and use it while out and about.
Does the tethering option have the built-in wpa2 encryption? As I am assuming that is a security thing - again new to all this.

If you use wifi-tethering, then you might not even need to plug in... the only reason to plug in would be to feed your phone power, rather than depleting it uber fast while tethering.
wired-tethering (the other kind) is also built in, but I can't tell you how to do it. I always use wifi (so I can "enable" multiple devices simultaneously)

Ohhh, Ok - so I don't have to plug it in - I thought I had to. So I should be able to just (for example) take it to the park on my lunch break, and be able to set the phone next to my laptop and get connected...?
Sorry for all the questions, just curious how this works - as I'd like to take advantage of it. Thx!

Wireless tether for NS4G
I just rooted my wife's and her mom's NS4G that i got them, installed wireless tether app just like i did on my evo, but the NS4G will only let me setup a ad-hoc connection, no option for wpa2 setup?
any Thoughts on what i'm doing wrong?
Reviving a thread from December lol
With the wireless tether app ad-hoc is the only method supported on the nexus s. It does not do infrastructure mode like your EVO did. If you use the native tethering app it will work in infrastructure mode it will not work with 4g though only 3g.

Download the "tethering fix for Android 2.3.5 ROMs" onto the phone and flash via clockwork recovery. This will enable the built in tethering app (accessible from settings>tethering and portable hotspot) which will allow infrastructure mode.
Hope I helped
Something for the advanced people on our forum. I got my HTC One X last week and for some reason, when I launch my Hot Spot, my PC crashes. It works fine providing internet to Motorola Xoom and Asus TF101 and worked fine from my previous HTC Inspire 4G. I get a BSOD caused by my wireless adapter driver NetwLv32. I have browsed the Microsoft KB and have updated my driver and the issue still exists. Has anyone else had this problem? I do have the tethering plan from AT&T. Any thoughts? Thanks!
are you talking about the USB Tethering?
My Mac & PC are both fine...
if its a laptop, just do wifi tethering, there is no way PC can crash...

Yes USB tethering works fine. It is the wireless tethering that causes my PC to crash. What's odd is that it worked perfectly with my Inspire 4G.

I am using the standard Hot Spot feature from within the phone.
OK, I changed the default settings in the tethering LAN advanced settings. I changed the Local IP to 192.168.1.100 instead of 192.168.1.1 and the Local IP starting IP to 192.168.1.101 instead of 192.168.1.10 and I am up and running again. There must be a IP conflict somewhere in my PC... Oh well, the world is round again.
interesting news...
Hi
I have this issue on one of my laptops, and i have tried with several different android phones.
However, yesterday i tried connecting that laptop to the hotspot of my wife's iPhone 5 and it worked fine with no BSOD.
I guess there is a conflict in the broadcast somewhere which specific intel based network adapters cant handle.
A workaround would be the best option right now, since intel will not recognize this and take responsebility.
/Kim
I have the same issue connecting a win-xp dell (with i3) to a Nokia 920 wif-fi router.
Instant BSOD. Message says something about IRQ conflict.

You have just to enable FIPS in your advanced settings of the wireless network connection enabled during hotspot and restarts the connection.

Hey guys! I just bought myself an I9001 Galaxy S Plus from someone (second hand)... It's my first smartphone so i think i've been busted.
The phone seemed to work well, and everything was ok. But when I try to use the GPS (without internet connection), it does'n seem to find any server. I've changed some different ROMs with different Kernels, but it still can't reach any server.
I forgot to mention that with some ROMs the signal level is very oscillating...
Today i was looking at the phone and observed that there is a hole just above the battery where some component, like an antenna or something is missing. I don't know what component is that...
I think that the missing component is the one in te next picture. But what is its name and role? Instead of it, at my phone, there's a soildered wire... This trick was made to mask other issues of the phone? (if i replace the missing component the phone might have problems?)
I'll attach the photos, may be you can help me. Thanks!!!

I think it's a Connector coaxial, a micro miniature form of RF coaxial connector. Look at one i marked with an arrow.. You can replace that part from samsung service center
Best of luck.
The details:
Design LOC: RFS100
SEC CODE: 3705-001731
Description: CONNECTOR-COAXIAL
thank you!
but that's the reason why my gps doesn't work?
or that's the reason why the signal level is very oscillating when i'm using some custom ROMs?
do I need it, or i can live without ?

May be. Not sure..
I used to have a i9000B wich is basicaly the same device.
THE GPS signal simply sucks, it was so bad that sometimes it took 2 minutes to lock in open field, with some roms it got better with other even worse.
I used GPS AIDS with that device an app that was developed just to try to solve this particular device problem at that time. look it up, maybe it can help a little bit, but i thing this device will never get a high speed gps lock.

I am running Android M Build # MPZ44Q. I read that changing the MTU from 1500 to 1204 will drastically improve tethering whether its Wi-Fi or USB. But how do I do it? I looked and tried some adb commands I came across. But I just got some error that said it cant be done.
Google what MTU stands for... The bigger the better is what it goes for...
P.S work at Cisco hence deal with it everyday
Op, you probably need to be rooted to tweak those variables.

I know what MTU is. But its going to work different on a phone than on a router or switch. The phone is connected via USB 2.0. So the higher MTU may be causing a bottle neck which would slow down the connection.

I've tried to edit the mtu, the commands are there if you have busybox. However android will not actually allow you to edit the mtu. You can change the interface parameters but it doesn't work. The tethering doesn't have anything but barebones passthru built in and won't allow the changes to actually apply.

I use mine to download Xbox one games and it would be nice to tether and use if to play as well, but the mtu really screws that up, I know. I've tried the paid WiFi tether router app which has a setting to adjust the mtu, but it does not actually work either. We'd need custom drivers supporting the option, and for the chipset to actually accept the command.

I see. So this goes all the way to Qualcomm and Google possibly T-Mobile or AT&T being in collaboration to make the devices MTU locked. And if its a firmware or even hardware issue then its best to just let it be and look for a phone that can be changed if it comes to that.

Try enabling Developer Options and then toggling "Keep mobile data turned on". See if that helps. And by the way what ODB II scanner/diagnostic program are you using that requires both WiFi (instead of bluetooth) and internet to function? That sounds like an incredibly poor way to simply run codes and whatnot.
Tried and doesn't work. I use SmartControl (Paid Version). Since i use the Superman-Rom, it has a bug and need to verificate with PlayStore if i start it. (Fixed with LuckyPatcher now xD)
But i need the connection for realtime traffic-informationen from google and other similar apps. My car hasn't the realtime-traffic information function. :/
Best option might be to eat the loss and just buy an OBDII scanner with Bluetooth instead of the WiFi version.

I've never actually used the wifi version, but I have no issues with speed or sample rates with a bluetooth scanner. Though I spent the little bit extra for a high quality scanner vs one of those generic $15 ebay specials. Nothing wrong with those if you want to just occasionally check codes, but if you're doing logging and stuff, they're not really that reliable.
