Hey all,
So, after successfully installing a custom rom on my S6 all was going just fine, so I tried to install SuperSU (Via the Google Play Store app) and after I rebooted my phone is on a solid blue led that goes from dark blue to light blue, the screen is completely black - but here's the twist, it's still functional. I have TWRP installed on it, so I could instantly tell it was looping into recovery every restart, definitely helped that when I tapped the screen I could feel it vibrate.
So, recovery mode works, I can't see anything at all, the blue light is still solid on, but it works.
Download mode is fully functional, I can make it go into Download mode and flash anything I desire.
Now, from my experience with a Galaxy S4 this seems to be a kernel issue, but I can't find any Odin flashable ones.
Please help guys, I just spent €120 fixing this damn phone. I'm not willing to let it die yet.

Update:
So, I got KIES to restore the phone and I got it to boot, I can tap things, and hear the voice speak. The screen is still black, but this time I get the back button and recents button lit up.

Hey all i am really new to this and run into a major problem. I rooted my phone with superoneclick and installed a ROM from SGS tools for my samsung captivate. When it would enter into the recovery screen it would not show the usual options but instead a screen of what looked like a pixelated mess. Once the phone started i went to restore to factory settings and now when the phone starts up I see the AT&T logo then it goes to a black screen where it stays there forever. Did i manage to screw up my phone? any help is greatly appreciated.
ok, I finally turned the phone off and left it overnight. The phone does start and work like it should. The only thing is that once you try to go to the recovery mode and the phone does its thing, I am brought to a screen that is half snowy (like the television when you dont get a certain channel) and the other half with lines of red, green, and blue. From here I cannot tell what is going on when I use the volume key to go up or down. Then with a double click of the power button the phone just restarts normally.
TL: DR: Screen sometimes is totally black, but otherwise the screen seems to work fine. Sometimes the phone acts completely normal. Sometimes the phone acts completely normal, but the screen is tinted green, but only after it's booted up. I can access download screen with no issue, most of the time I can get into recovery with out a problem, but not always.
I'm brand new to the GS3, but I purchased it last week on ebay (described as fully functional) since my other phone has been giving me troubles. I received it last Thursday (5/15/14), and it seemed to work fine. I have not been able to activate it yet since I did not have 4G sim card, so I've just been playing with it around the house to make sure it works until I get my 4G card from Verizon in the mail.
So Saturday comes along, and I notice that the screen is all black, but makes the usual sounds when you touch the screen. I pull the battery, and boot it back up. The Samsung logo would come up, but none of the boot animation. Nothing after the Samsung logo. It seems that if I push the power button, the phone seems to be functional, but nothing comes up on the screen. Sometimes if I push the power button a bunch of times, I can get the screen to come on. The screen looked normal, and everything worked fine, until I hit the power button. Back to the black screen. I booted into recovery, cleared the cache and did a factory wipe, and it seemed to be completely normal for a while.
I've noticed that sometimes phone acts completely normal (proper colors, screen turns off and on as it should), sometimes it works normally but the screen is tinted green (power button turns off and on the screen as it should), and sometimes, the screen is totally black, but the touch functions work normally.
Since the screen always works at boot (I can see the Samsung logo clearly and with no color distortion, but sometimes the rest of the boot animation is gone, even though I hear the boot music), and there is also no color distortion in recovery or download mode, am I likely looking at a software issue?
It is not rooted, and completely stock on 4.1.2. EDIT:Baseband is VRBMF1.
I have tried to make my problem as clear as possible, but I will clarify anything if necessary.
Thanks.
I downgraded to VRBMB1 with ODIN, and I still seem to be having the same issue (screen goes black, won't come back on), although the green tint problem hasn't happened yet. As long as I leave the screen on, it works fine. I'm thinking that this might be a problem with the power button, although I don't understand why it would allow me into download mode with no issues, but trouble doing much of anything else. I'm probably going to be sending it back for a refund, but if anyone has any suggestions, I'm more than willing to listen. Thanks.
I just downloaded the update for Cyanogen Mod 13 and I clicked install then my phone powers on (no matter what buttons I press; power, power and volume up and home) it has the Samsung S5 logo and the text "Recovery booting..." (as well as the other warranty text stuff). It then quickly flashes the screen with the Android and cog logo with the text "Installing system update" for the shortest time (making it almost impossible to read the text) it then flashes this screen on and off every 5-10s for the rest of the time. I thought that the screen maybe just a little glitchy but the "update has been running for almost an hour now. How can I fix this problem if my phone doesn't allow me to put it into recovery mode .
So I spent about 3 hours trying to fix this problem trying every combination of buttons to press on boot as well as trying to make my phone detectable or something like that. Let my Mum try fiddling with it (she has no idea what she doing with new tech) some how she managed to press the buttons just right. It went into download mode and I was able to flash it with an update of TWRP using ODIN and it rebooted and started up. If you haven't already try putting it into download mode, I've heard getting the timing right can be tricky when your phone is doing unusual things. Now I'm unsure whether to try updating again but I might try wiping and going back to a stable 12.1.
Mod Edit:
Thread closed as ODIN fixed it
Greetings.
I've recently been struggling with a problem with my Galaxy S6 and I've searched far and wide on the interwebs for a solution, with no avail.
You see, whenever I turn my phone on, or wake it up from the lock screen, the screen flickers one or two times, but doesn't always turn on.
They keys are active, touchscreen is active, but no image.
Sometimes I have to try and unlock my screen two or three times to get an image, sometimes it turns on after the first flicker.
An example of what I am experiencing is at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CyiDgpUSkaE
[edit] Another example is this: when switching the display brightness, the screen goes to crap and starts flickering like crazy, and at minimum brightness text goes unreadable and small (video) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HIMFaCy_KVY
I am not rooted, everything is stock FW, I had android 6 stock and recently upgraded to 7 stock OTA and the same issue persists.
I cannot access download mode or recovery because the screen won't turn on. Only time it turns on is when Android is booted. Even when booting, the blue led flashes because the device is booting but I have no image.
Please contribute with some ideas, I cannot wipe cache from recovery because I can't see anything even if I try to boot recovery (or download).
Thank you in advance!
Did you resolve this issue? If so, how? Mine started to do the same after a short fall. My initial thought was hardware but I can get into recovery and the screen functions just fine there.
Hey folks,
I don't know why, but yesterday I rebooted my s7 (on galaxy s8 port rom) and as it booted up again, the screen was just black. But the device is on, and the hardware keys are lighting up, even the root permission toasts are showing up, but I can't access to the phone since it's completely black. I tried to dirty flash the rom (sac v11) again, but this didn't helped, and I had to factory reset it. Can someone imagine why? It never happened to me before.
Also, 2 times now, that my s7 just showed 10 seconds black screen when I want to unlock it from lockscreen.
I really thank you for help.
Sounds like systemUI.apk is corrupting / being deleted
