[SOLVED] Galaxy S6 disk storage - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I have a problem with my Samsung Galaxy s6, it's a 64 GB but now after many flashes I only see 10Gb in total... I don't understand and I searched on google but didn't find anything...
When I look with disk usage I see 7 GB on "free space" but unusable so I don't understand...
Thanks for your help.
Thetimelost
Edit : I have found a solution by myself, I will explain, but save your data before doing it because I'm not sure if you lose data when you do this... I did when my phone is completely empty.
Edit 2 : You go in TWRP ---> Wipe ---> Advanced Wipe --> I think I selected data and after ---> Resize File System. This give me back my 64Gb !
PS : PLS CARE WITH THIS METHOD I DON'T GUARRANTED YOUR PHONE IT'S JUST WHAT I DID FOR ME
 @JohnnyEJR Maybe try this

Hi,
I wonder if you have lost your partition table, I suggest downloading a Stock ROM for your device and if possible getting a PIT file for the 64GB S6.

Great! Now that I saw your post i checked mine and from 32 gb i only have 16. I read that wiping your cache partition and factory reset could solve it.

I don'nt have 16gb ....

Hi,
i've bought 2 days ago the tab. It's a branded TIM (italian carrier).
So i've decided to fit a stock rom like in the tread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1686514.
Everithing is fine, but i now don't see the 16gb.
If i tap settings/memory i get:
Memory on board
1,97 gb total
sd card
it's empty because noone is inserted
Then i run titanium backup to get some more info and i get:
internal rom 1.26gb (269 mb free)
internal: 2.11GB (1.79 gb free)
sd card: 2.11GB (1.79 gb free)
sd card and internal are the same thing for titanium backup ?? They are the same.
Could you please help me to find the lost ram ??
THANK YOU
PS If i insert a micro sd, in titanium backup i've one more row:
ext. sd card: 3.95 gb (2.73 gb free)

which galaxy tab 2 version did you have, currently there are 3 version for the 7 inch alone, P3110 (wifi only), P3113 (wifi only plus iR), and P3100 (with GSM enabled). The P3113 have 8 GB storage while the rest is varied between 16 - 32 GB.
I've the gt-5100 wifi+3g 16gb
Weird, on my P3100 (7 inch GSM 16 Gb) there's 11.87 Gb total in settings>memory. Could it be because yours is carrier branded version which usually has been modified to some extent, maybe try rooting and installing new stock / custom rom and see the result again?
I need your help.
I've started with CWM, done a full wipe (dalvik, cache, user)
Installed another rom (the Fry rom)
Done again a full wipe.
I get the same free space as on first post
I have the same problem, and when i flashed stock rom with the pitefile, i got 4.56Gb total memory on board.......Still missing about 8gb...
I have solved the problem guys. You have to flash the stock rom with a pifile called signed_espresso_20120220_16G, this opens for 16gb total memory. I have the file, but i cant upload it, so send me your mail adress and i will mail the file to you ho needs it.
Is it for the 10" or the 7" ??
I've done a search on google and i'm not sure what the file is for ... and it seems to be for the 7" version of the gtab.
Any further info ?
thank you
PS
when i used odin to install the rom i did not checked re-partion, following the instruction of the link on the first page. I installed the stock rom and then the ram was 2gb. Then i've installed the fry rom (that is a stock plus some whistle) with a full wipe. But i've the same problem.

Try downloading the official non branded firmware from sammobile.com or samfirmware.com, flash it using odin and use full wipe / erase.

Error 492 Google Play

Hey guys i am trying to solve this error for last 4 days but it looks to be imposible. I did read here on the forum and i tried this :
- format cache and dalvik cache
- format micro sd card
- reinstall rom
- clear cache and data from google play and google framework and google services
- reinstall like 3 ROMS , 1 is energy`s rom, 1 was rayman`s rom and another one. Now i am running energy`s last rom.
I can download app from google play but the ones that require wifi , the big ones like : Dungeon Hunter 3, Heroes and Chaos, Zombiewood, NFL Pro 2013, Brother in Arms and so on...
I dont know what else should i do, i did read all forum topics and tried everything. If anyone can help me please do it. Tyvm and have a nice day.
It might be internal sdcard related. Try deleting .android secure directory or back up your Rom and stuff from internal card and format it.

How should i do that ? ... Ty
Format card? Well plug your tablet to your computer. Backup everything you need from internal card. Reboot into recovery and backup your Rom, Obviously to external card. After everything is backed up then you can format your internal card from recovery. Option should be under mounts and storage.

i dont have option to format sd card ... only to partition it. If i whipe to factory reset, sd card wont get format ? Because i did this factory reset and it still dosent work , same error 492 , i am loosing my mind
try a cache cleaning app from the playstore.
if you cant download any then someone recommended the following.....
cache cleaner pro
if its classed as warez then feel free to have it removed and apologise in advance.
Tyvm for ur advice but its still dosent working , i was about to sell my tablet because of this error... Its allmost imposible to fix it or it is really imposible ?
What recovery are you using? Format card option should be under mounts and storage.
You can also find nv flash files in development section and nvflash. That will format your card and everything else. Make sure to read and make a backup of all your stuff.

Team Rouge is the recovery i use if i am not wrong , i dont need any file from my tablet i just want this error to be gone .

[Q] Nexus 5 displaying wrong size: 32 GB only showing 16 GB

I have bought and rooted a 32 GB Nexus 5. I flashed all the .img files from factory image initially. The only problem is the phone only shows 16GB available in filesystem under storage, and 32GB (correctly) in fastboot as variant. Is there any way to either:
A) increase the data partition size so I do not need to format and lose my information?
or
B) Easily backup all information in data partition and reformat the phone to retrieve the lost storage and then restore this? Will this restore all app info as well? i.e all SMS/MMS/Call log information, game scores, save games etc.
or
C) Any other methods to do this without losing any data?

Look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2513701 for fixing the 16GB issue, backup all first first as this will wipe your device. There is no other way unfortunately.
Please use search as stated in the rules. Asked and answered so many times before

Thanks gee. Apparently after finally finding the right search strings, this can also be done with a nandroid backup. I'm going to give this a try first, if not, will go with the way suggested in that thread! Thanks!

Trust me. Frustration with finding the search strings was getting to me. No solid answers after 1 hr of trying everything I could think of. Finally used "restore nandroid to 32GB", and bang - its there. Just factory formatted and got the space back, then restored nandroid and voila! Everything back to before with 16GB more. :victory:
Sorry about the duplication, but guess I'm dumb late in the day haha :silly:
Here's a hint, use xda in your search string. e.g. nexus 5 32 gb is now 16 xda.

Galaxy s4 internal memory problem.

I am using galaxy s4 gt i9500. The internal memory available for the 16gb variant is about 8 gb, out of which i have hardly used 1 gb. I don't know where the rest of the memory has gone. Is it possible to format or something(except the factory reset; it didn't help) like we can format the sd card. Any help is appreciated!
Thanks a lot!

A large amont of the space is your rom im guessing around 3-5gb then u have probly another 2-3gb for ur stock apps then anything u install after that. They say 16/32/64 or 128 on the box but thats never the room u get software always takes up a large portion. Luckily ur device has a sd card slot i believe so u can use that to expande ur storge for a relatively cheap price.
If you need more room on the device you can always root and install custom software or uninstall apps with titanium backup but be careful read the guides in your device forum and follow them properly.
Root your phone and install link2sd.this will solve your storage problem.
First of all your rom will take a lot, second of all your apps and your old apps data incase you used a custom recovery to factory reset, and third of all Cashe it self could reach up to 1 gb.

I understand that the rom may take a large amount of memory but i dont think so that it can take upto 7-8 gb. I have cleared all the cache so it cannot be cache either. I think i may have used custom recovery to factory reset. But when i use file manager to view my internal the total is around only 400 mb including all the folders (like android, dcim, etc)
Btw, I'm running cm12.1. Do you think reverting back to my stock rom would help?
Please help as this is really irritating because most of my apps crash due to low memory.
Thanks.

Yup the issue is that you used a costume recovery to factory reset, I had that issue as well with my note 3 until I realized that all apps data were installed but I didn't see them even on file manager, so I just downloaded a stock firmware and did a stock factory reset and then everything was good as new!

What to do Samsung Galaxy S2 Device memory full tried #9900# code not working

Hi
I have an unrooted Samsung Galaxy S2 phone which keeps having a message pop up saying Storage Space Running Out. I have checked the apps I have on the internal Device Memory and as you can see in the screenshots attached below I haven't got many apps installed on the phone now (as I progressively had to delete more and more of them off here due to this problem) so it's not an app problem (for the amount of apps I have installed I should at minimum have 1 Gb and more likely 1.5 Gb of space). I believe due to what I have researched that it is a problem with log files taking up room but to fix it I tried calling the code #9900# and it came up with the message on my phone: Connection problem or invalid MMI code. I don't know where to go from here to free up more space in the device storage part of my phone. (note I have space on the usb/sd section and on my external sd card so that's not a problem only the device storage section)

It's probably due to apps being updated, or maybe you've got app data hanging around from apps you've uninstalled, look in your Android folder.
Also, if your S2 is running 4.1.2 like most other S2's then it's also because you have a limited data partition, you can re-PIT or repartition your internal storage to give more space to data and/or system partition.

Hi thanks for the reply Droidriven. Yes I do believe it could be the app data from previously installed apps but like the log data files I don't know if I can or how to access it without rooting my phone. I know how to delete the data and cache of apps I still have on there (and tried that already) but if there is any remaining from previous apps I'm not sure how to go about that. Also, yes you are right in that my S2 is running 4.1.2 and that it has a limited partition (2GB Device Memory vs 11.50GB USB/internal SD storage). How do you " re-PIT or repartition your internal storage to give more space" and is there any problems that can come from doing this? Could the log files be taking up too much space?

This thread liked below is about the best place for help with S2.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s2/help/qa-friendly-qa-thread-t1648351
As for the re-PIT, try starting in the thread linked below, the developer there has created a way to repartition the i9100, he has adapted it to work on other models of i9100 and other models of S2, he may have adapted it or can adapt it for your i9100t.
