Proper way to flash/upgrade to Nougat? - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I currently have a G920F with Xstrestolite 3.3, and Android 6.0.1. What's the proper way to upgrade to nougat? Will I need to perform a clean wipe beforehand?

I always do a clean wipe when upgrading from one android version to another. Just make sure to do the usual such as backups and so on.

Do i need to update any bootloaders or such before performing a clean wipe, or just straight flash the Nougat rom with TWRP?

Nougat is
slow,
lag,
Bad battery ,
Slow charging battery
no good root
no xposed
no custom kernels
no good WiFi signal
More...

So you're saying it's not good? ?

Nougat roms are compatible with marshmallow bootloader so no need to update. Just on a side note, roms can be changed, just because 1 person has got a bad experience shouldn't put you off, if you find you don't like it you can always revert.

[HELP] how to downgrade Galaxy S6 from LATEST 6.0.1 (DPFX BL) to 5.1.1

hi, i really want to downgrade my S6 to lollipop but i have one of the latest bootloader (DPFX).
Downgrade was perfectly possible when i was on first build of marshmallow, but now, since i upgraded to DPFX bootloader, i have only fails with odin, and bootloops with custom roms...
is there any solution? if only i could flash an older bootloader, then i will be saved.
but if i flash an old bootloader with odin, i have a fail, so i don't know what to do
Some people suggested to me to use an old TWRP backup and i found it on my pc (with all partitions files: bootloader, system, radio and data, but i didn't use data) but using it, it's the same of flashing a custom rom: bootloop, and i suspect that the old bootloader never was flashed.

I knew this, but i want to know if there is a way, a not official way, like reinstalling bootloader in a forced way that doesn't care about security problems... this thing has no sense.... why totally prevent to downgrade? However, i thing it's NORMALLY impossible, but not
TOTALLY impossible

As far as I know if you're on a newer bootloader official or not there is no current method to downgrade. Maybe a phone shop has specialist equipment to do this but that's me taking a shot in the air
I was able to downgrade but not because i wanted, i flashed a corrupt firmware with ODIN and i have to do an emergency recovery with Smart Switch, my carrier doesn't have Marshmallow on the S6 so my phone restored in Lollipop

Flash a custom rom from B380

Hello,
since I have some problems with my Honor 8 and my firmware is quiet old B380,
I wanna factory reset and take advantage to update/flash a custom rom like Lineage.
I have unrooted my phone and flashed the B380 stock boot.img
Can I just wipe and flash a custom rom using TWRP ?
Or I need to downgrade the version like B120 or something ? If yes could you help me a bit? Should I use the dload method and flash a recovery stock or something
Its been a long time i did that ^^'
Thanks for help

Just follow the instructions on the rom page on xda
For RROS it only say to factory reset/delete fingerprints and flash the rom+gapps
But I also need to have B385, do you think it's necessary ? What is the best way to update ?

SM-G955FD upgrade to Pie from 7

hello everyone,
i have S8+ with android 7 installed, not rooted and still didnt get any OTA for either oreo or Pie, so i decided to do it manually but i wanna make sure of the steps since it's been a while for me not flashing anything.
first thing i should know is that this update is going to wipe my phone due to the bootloader update
and about that bootloader update, should i flash pie bootloader first or just flash a stock ROM with odin that includes bootloader file ?
any help with this issue is much appreciated

If you are going to update with Odin flash full firmware. ( 4 files )
As for wiping your phone when you unzip the downloaded firmware there will be 2 CSC files.
CSC - Clean install will wipe your data ( same as factory reset )
Home CSC - Dirty install should keep your data
Always do a backup before doing anything.
Note: Make sure after you upgrade your firmware to update your apps so that they will be comparable with new firmware.

Do Custom Roms ignore Bootloader versions?

I have just purchased an S7 which includes the Oreo operating system (binary 5). Will I be able to restore my TRWP backup of Superman Rom (Nougat binary 2) on it? If so, should I just restore boot, system and data?
Thanking you in advance.
EDIT: Thank you for your replies. Restored Superman Nougat ROM on the new device (binary 5). Seems to run perfectly, but yes, bootloader and modem haven't been (and probably can't be) downgraded. Cheers
Yes and no, TWRP will let you roll back the ROM, but the bootloader will stay as is. A mismatch between bootloader and OS version can cause issues, but not always. YMMV.

Stock ROM Required

Hello,
I have a Lenovo K6 Power (K33a42) (Karate). I had installed this Custom ROM on 1st Jan. I liked it till February end but after noticing that it had some problems (not dev's problem, its just mine). I thought of switching to LineageOS 17. It says i require stock nougat firmware. I dont want to go to stock firmware just so that i can go to Lineage. So can i flash it normally? Just wipe system, data, cache, dalvik? (Is system necessary can i flash it without doing that too? Idm if i have to)
Thanks.

If it says to flash the nougat firmware, there is a reason it says to flash it? If it says that it is required, there is a reason it says that. If upubwant to use the LineageOS ROM then do what it says, flash the nougat firmware then flash LineageOS.
Yes, you can flash LineageOS without wiping system partition but it probably won't work correctly and you'll have to wipe system and flash the ROM again.
Just follow the instructions and do what it says to do. It does not matter that you do not want to.
Hey, thanks for that quick reply. Its not like i dont want to flash stock firmware (sorry if you felt like it in the first post). I cant find my firmware anywhere. I did find it here, its not the latest one but ig its fine? I Dont have enough trust on that website.
