Hi guys I am new with this devices.
I want know what are your opinion about what are the best stock based costum rom for s7 flat for battery and performance. Sorry if my English isn't very good. Thanks in advice.

It's very hard to determine "best rom" everyone have their own taste / preference. In my opinion (ROMS which I tested) Helios ROM if you want minimalism stability and samsung features (like My KNOX and Secure Folder) work with root. SuperMan ROM if You want many advanced features and customization mods.
Hope this helps

Yes Im agree with you but I was thinking thet create a thread for confront our varius opinion, it may be helpful. ?Anyway, I have tested helios and I I found it little bit slow. Now im using the stock rom by ambasadii, but the drain for me is very hight.maybe I will try superman Rom. How is the battery drain in Superman rom and is better superman or superstock for you?
SuperMan and SuperStock is basically the same. SuperMan has much more customization features added. About battery drain I got around 5-6 hours screen on time (sometimes I had standby drain up to 10% overnight) but that was on Marshmallow I didn't have enough free time to test nougat as I need usable device at work. I'll try new SuperMan version this weekend. I think SuperMan ROM is best choice it is smooth, fast, battery friendly, fast updates and very active community.

Great! Thanks bro. Is only few time that I use this Galaxy. First I had a bullhead (nexus 5x) and this is my first Samsung so I don't know a lot the various rom for this device. After A bit of test I te I will tell you my considerations ?

As always is said, each device is a different world, in my case the rom of ambasadii goes very well I get up to 7 hours of screen with the AOD deactivated and in battery saving mode (And without energy saving mode and with the activated AOD I arrive to 6 hours calmly), with superman rom otherwise the battery is discharged a lot Faster but I have not tried its latest version.
PD: I always return to rom of ambasadii.
Hi, I found this Post and I would also like to ask now that it is 2019 (seems S7 will only be getting security patches from now on and no more Pie), Is Superman ROM is still the best stable Stock Based ROM? Or are there newer ROMs you would suggest. I'm a newbie to this though I have experienced rooting on other devices before.
I'm planning to Flash my S7 (SM-G930FD) and someone advised me to Root First then proceed to Stock-based ROM before going to AOSP-based ROMs. I feel like skipping to Stock-based ROM.
My Search leads me to the Following ROMS:
LightROM
The Galaxy Project
Superman ROM, seems like this thread support is closed, EOL.
Superstock ROM, Thread Closed too.
Can you also answer some of my worries below:
Mainly I want to use Tincore to Simulate touch input in games, will a Stock-based ROM deliver properly?
I have a Gear IconX 2018 (Samsung's BT Headset), will it pair properly and be useful in calls? (I've read BT problems with AOSP but haven't checked with stock-based ROMs)
Will Screen mirroring (Smart View) still work? (I have Samsung Smart TV at home, which I use to show my mother my taken photos)
Will the Camera have Problems too (same with AOSP-based ROMS)
What's OTA? (it seems direct updating of Custom OS from Settings Menu?
What's Dirty Flashing?

I can try to answer some, some are rom specific.
The BT headset should pair fine- it's stock based.
Screen mirroring should work if the rom supports it, don't use it so I can't say for sure, but I think lightrom has it.
The camera will have no problems at all, same as the stock rom. Gcam and other camera mods via magisk work as well such as 4k60.
OTA's are over the air updates so that manufacturers can give out updates wirelessly- stock-based roms do not support this and you have to flash new versions manually.
Dirty flashing is flashing a rom without wiping data etc., it isn't recommended as it can introduce issues, check with the rom and developer to see if they recommend it or not. Devbase is usually fine with dirty flashing updates.
Personally, I don't see the need for rooting or flashing anymore unless you need extra features or android pie, reduces the resale value as Knox is tripped and loses Knox functionality such as Samsung pay.

Thanks @Pacer_456
Can you also give me a list of most stable ROMs for S7 Flat (SM-G930FD), if I'm not troubling you a lot?
I still feel like flashing my device for learning purposes too. Anyway, I don't think I'll be using Samsung Pay and my Warranty period is also over, so I guess I have no issue with the knox thinggy.
Thanks again..

I am sorry if this is stupid noob question, but why we don't have many custom roms since that our device's sharing same exynos 4210 hardware, like Samsung galaxy SII?
I own SII for myself and there is every day something new in development thread, and here nothing
My P 6200 is crying for fix WiFi problem and some great custom rom :crying:

I have been using Android since it was released and have collected various devices. This is just me, there is nothing better than stock rooted and tweaked rom. Just debloat the rom and you will be ok. My P6210 is amazingly fast with NO error or any single issues. I got both apple and Samsung products and my P3113 and my P6210 are my main tab. It is a must for me to go stock rooted and tweaked. Just me.
Cheers
I always asked myself the ssame question too... but it turns out we dont hhave so many devs here and this device wasn't a hit like the S series from samsung. Making custom roms isn't so hard but it needs alot of learning if ur a biggener. I tried making custom roms myself but what else do u need from a custom rom if you already have CM9, cm10, paranoid android and soon to be AOKP? But who knows we might see new stuff I mean I bought this tab before there was even a functional cm9 build and I was thinking of selling it. But it pulled through aand I must say his device is rock solid we just need to nail the wifi issue.

I had wifi problems as well on stock ics (UK version).
It all disappeared when I flashed the US version, give it a try...
This said, cm, aokp and stuff are nice but not stable enough for my taste yet, I don't like bugs (I am not a very patient character) and for me so far there's nothing like a good home tweaked, rooted and deodexed stock ics rom.
When cm10 is completely stable then I will eagerly flash it, I check xda every day waiting for that day to come

I have actually did a lot of things with the ICS stock rooted but never have wifi issues. Anywhere I go with wifi access, I never have problems or any issues. Would it be router related? With my P3113, its fine but with my YP-G70, there was. I have to install another stock rom to solve it. Otherwise, everything works fine with me. These products are actually very nice IMHO. I'm just waiting for the JB update for my P6210 and P3113, if there will be.
Early in ANdroid the stock ROMs were often terrible and there was a lot of room to make easy improvements. Now the stock ROMs are really quite good and there is not much that can be improved on easily. IF you like a different style you have the CM based ROMs with some UI differences but not much in the way of performance improvements and you lose stability and some hardware features like IR Remote. Even with the Nexus, by the time some individual developer takes the time to customize a ROM, Google has new features out in the stock ROM so its just not worth it to build from scratch.
SO called debloating is mostly a placebo because the new devices like this tab have lots of memory and apps you don;t use aren't doing anything or taking resources.
Curious to know if you have found anything unique and useful in SII development. TO me it seems like all retreads of repackaged stock or CM based stuff with a few different apps from samsung or sony thrown in for good measure.

Stock rom is full with unneeded application.
Custom rom bring more speed and space.
I'm currently running custom rom based on JB leak on my Samsung SII, which is full with super functions from S3 and Note 2. Above all that rom is great for daily use For me that is enough
Hi. First post and I have never rooted a phone before.
My S5 is a G900F on EE network.
It has an issue where after switching to wifi it cannot switch to mobile data without a restart hence I restart it about 3x a day. Every day. This appears to be an issue with EE on the S5.
The phone is unlocked and I'm not with the EE network for my calls.
I would like to get rid of any trace of EE but also would very much like the sound of marshmallow.
It sound like the touch wiz functionality Is useful so I would like to keep that.
So what are my options and is there a step by step guide to do this for newbies?
Thanks in advance.

With the restarting issue try airplane mode on/off instead and see if that fixes it.
I'm also with EE on my S5 and as it is there is no Marshmallow Touchwiz for the S5 (apart from the one that'll be built probably tomorrow by the devs on here). You can use an S6 ported ROM themed like marshmallow however I have found they are fast at first but after long usage they seem to slow down a lot. You can get marshmallow via ROMs like CyanogenMod 13 which are crazy fast however that's based on stock Android and not TouchWiz. Rooting is a great idea as you can do just that (rid of all the EE branded stuff like Lookout, Amazon Appstore etc.) and also it doesn't require installing custom ROMs (however awesome custom ROMs are). Or you could install a debloated ROM (Generally makes your phone faster, declutters it).
Right now i'm running on stock 5.0 rooted until a stable 6.0.1 ROM is built, then I'll flash it to check it out.
Hope this helps
Edit: Also buddy you might want to have posted this in the Q/A section for future reference
Shaolin thanks for the reply.
The aeroplane mode on off works which is a bit less of a pita thanks.
Did you not find the cyanogen mod stable or did it slow down?
Any idea when a stable 6.01 will be released?
Any idea when 6.01 with touch wiz will be available?
Maybe it is better for me to wait for one of these also I'm concerned with 6.01 the sd card is integrated which is brilliant but sounds like it is difficult or impossible to get data off the card if I change the rom?
Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
CyanogenMod is very stable however the cons for me are the lower camera quality (due to the fact it uses the Stock android api) and also the missing cool touchwiz features like air view and gestures
I'm running a 6.0.1 touchwiz build right now but it is harder to install than standard ROM due to the fact you must use ADB to replace your bootloader/system etc.
The 6.0.1 official update will probably start dripping out at the end of the month or its predicted for April think
In my opinion, just wait for the official 6.0.1 touchwiz build because this build I'm running now is the smoothest I've ever had my S5 (so it will probably be even better in official build)
Let me know if you'd like a link the to thread for 6.0.1 touchwiz for S5. If you do wanna install it early then I must urge you BE CAREFUL! Backup everything
I'm missing stock Android. So much so I'm selling my S7 to get a Motorola.
Anyone here who prefer stock Android who gets by fine with the S7 (without a custom ROM or theme I mean )
A Motorola . Nothing's that bad. A Pixel maybe. I like stock Android but don't prefer it to my current set up. If you don't like Touchwiz why not try an alternative?
Wouldn't survive if it weren't for Xposed + Good lock + Custom ROM

I've had a Moto X Play before getting my S7. It's one of the best phones I've had. Although, if I could afford the Pixel that's what I'd get
I've yet to find a good stable trustworthy ROM especially when it comes to the camera. Also I don't want to trigger Knox so that if I sell it, if my buyer wants to have Samsung Pay, it's still available.

Superman, very much TouchWiz but debloated and with Xposed modules I can rework it.
I'll be sticking with the S7 for now after all. Maybe it's because of the S8 but they're not that popular right now second hand. Oh well.

What do you do different on the Superman ROM than the stock ROM? I can't really understand the point of getting a custom ROM that ressembles TouchWiz. Also do you prefer stock Android?

It has a few minor tweaks built in, and removes all bloat apps, and lets you choose which Samsung apps you want - which I only kept the camera basically.
The main reason I use it is because it's pre-rooted and pre-xposed in one neat package, that's where most my customisation comes from. From there I can use xTouchWiz and GravityBox among other modules to bring it closer to stock. Other than the settings menu it more or less looks like stock android. I prefer stock Android, I always used close to stock android ROMs on my previous phones.
I also had my phone before the massive explosion of Nougat ROMs. The only ROMs were TouchWiz ROMs, I had to flash something to debloat and Superman was the best offering. I would go for a Nougat ROM, but they seem to still be working out the kinks, and Xposed isn't officially on Nougat yet.

I'm not that hooked on Xposed that I can't do without it (though I came from AOSP). Before the S7, I ran a Galaxy Nexus on VZW; my S7 is on the UnCarrier side of Tracfone today. (Yes - you read the title correctly - I actually have the AT&T Mobility "Darth Cookie" beta firmware on my ex-VZW S7, and it runs quite nicely, thank you - in fact, it's not going anywhere until T-Mobile releases proper Oreo firmware - SE9 and all.) It's faster than stock, and it's faster than L7 v. 4 - which it replaced - therefore, unless I absolutely have to, I have absolutely no reason to fire it. I have been rusing and abusing the firmware as I've gotten more and more comfortable; in particular, I've been extremely swap-happy with Darth Cookie - anywhere from eight to twelve(!) apps have been in my rota; with stock N, I was lucky to be comfortable with three. So I have beta firmware from one carrier on a phone originally from a second carrier, but is actually on a third carrier using the towers of a fourth - yet nary a complaint.
I've been using my Galaxy S7 for the last year and half or so and I have been considering flashing a custom ROM on it. Years ago I did have a OmniROM Galaxy Note 1 then flashed CyanogenMod on that same phone. It died due to battery problems.
I'm curious as to how far custom ROMs have come since then and whether its worth going the Custom ROM + Root route on my Galaxy S7 to get some additional features and that stock Android feel.
The phone is still receiving updates though so I'm not sure if it's worth flashing yet.
Would love you hear what your guys think.
Cheers
Both the TouchWiz ROMS and AOSP ROM's are pretty well developed and supported. So really it's personal preference more than anything.
If you don't like custom ROM's, you can always flash back to stock using Odin and go back to getting OTA's.
Just note it'll trip knox, so you'll lose some Samsung app functionality.

I've heard of issues such as camera quality, metallic sounds when taking calls and HWC issue, do you know if TouchWiz and AOSP have these issues?

Also does anyone have any experience with the Lineage OS 16.1 on this device? It'd be nice to get Android 9.0 but I want to make sure it's stable enough for daily use.
Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
Camera quality is worse on AOSP because the camera uses proprietary drivers built into TouchWiz. If you go with a TW based ROM you shouldn't notice any difference.
Otherwise the vast majority of other issues tend to be user error / caused by dirty flashing. Nougat ROM's are all pretty much final and have been bug free for a long time. Oreo is still somewhat new, but still pretty bug free.
I've been using SuperMan ROM for about 18 months, haven't had any issues and use it as a daily driver.
Not sure about 9.0.

I hated the bloat and nagging of the latest Samsung update to Android 8, so I installed TWRP, made a backup of my stock system, and then installed LineageOS. I ran that for a month and loved the UI and minimalism, but I hated that some hardware drivers were buggy and that the camera would NEVER perform as well as Samsung designed. So I tried SupermanRom, which is the Samsung Touchwiz Android 8.0.0 but debloated and lots of nice extras. I gave it a black Substratum theme designed for the S7 and run it with Nova launcher, and it is the BEST OS I've ever run on a phone. Very polished, fully functional, and great battery life. The csc installer tool by the same developer also made my S7 Exynos/international variant work as intended for USA TMobile, with wifi-calling, VoLTE, and video calls. I'm running it with TGPKernel.
Hi,
I currently main an S10e besides my "project phone" Mi Note 10. On that phone I just installed az AOSP-based custom ROM (Android 13), which I really do like. So, I am thinking on flashing the S10e (Exynos) with a custom ROM too (PixelExperience 13).
My question is that is there anyone who flashed custom ROM instead of the OneUI 4.1 on the S10e? Is it better performance, battery and features-wise (under features I mean e.g. Cameras being most important.)? Can it be used as a daily as well as OneUI?
Thanks for the answers.
P.s. sorry for my bad English.

Performance will definitely be better. I ran Lineage OS on my A52 4G for a little while, and it was much faster than OneUI 5. Also, many custom ROMs don't come with nosy Google apps pre-installed, which is a plus (although you can install them yourself if you want them). Some things to remember are that the camera support will not be as good as stock (so do your research on how good support is for your device), and that phone calls will not work with custom ROMs on any Samsung device. Let me know if you have any questions/concerns.

Yes, sorry. I should have clarified, I meant that VoIP doesn't work, but depending on where you are, it could mean you won't be able to call at all, because many service providers have recently stopped their service with devices that don't have VoIP capability. So here in the U.S. I essentially can't call at all, because no major carriers here work without VoIP. But it all depends on where you are and what carrier you use.
EDIT: Read this thread page for more info on this (many posts talk about VoIP and calling support).

Lineage OS has probably the best camera support of any custom ROM at the moment, as they just recently released version 20, which featured a brand-new default camera app, Aperature. I have used Aperature before, and compared to alternatives such as Open Camera, It is much better. For example, the camera apps that most custom ROMs ship with, including Lineage OS 19, don't even support all of the cameras, only the main shooter. Also, the overall quality of the photos are better with Aperature. That being said, the camera quality will still not be as good as stock. Currently, if you want to run Lineage OS on your device, there is the official Lineage OS 19 version (based on A12): Lineage OS page, XDA thread; and the unofficial Lineage OS 20 version (based on A13): XDA thread. Let me know if you have any questions, I'll gladly answer them.
Thanks! Do you know by any chance, is there a good Gcam port for Exynos devices? On my Xiaomi phone which I flashed with OctaviOS, there are lots of available but that is a Snapdragon model... And the only thing (besides that I am new to flashing on Samsung) is the camera (which is absolutely fine) and battery performance (which already sucks a bit on the S10e) that keeps me on OneUI.

For the Gcam port look here. Yes, battery performance will definitely be better with a custom ROM. Let me know if you have questions about flashing it, as I have an A52 4G that I flashed Lineage OS to and then re-flashed OneUI to (because of VoIP, otherwise I would stay on Lineage OS 100%).
Thanks. It's sad that this camera isn't as good as the stock one, so I might stay at OneUI as you have flashed back.

You can see a comparison between the stock camera app and Gcam on your device here. The results from Aperature, if you install Lineage OS 20, will be the same or better. Like I said, the only reason I switched back was because where I am, I need VoIP. Otherwise, Lineage OS was much better than the stock OneUI, and I can't wait to go back to Lineage OS again after I get a different phone for calls.
