Lg 360 camera stops recording 20 minutes in - LG G5 Accessories

Just got a lg 360 camera and having a strange issue, it stops recording exactly 20 minutes in, this seems like an artificial limitation, but I can not find how to stop it.
I am using a 64gb sd card and the file size is 2.4gb (I realize on afat32 4gb will be the limit but expected it to simply create a new file at that point.)
Extrapolating out and rounding up that is 7.5gb an hour so the 3 hour long events I planed to record would take 22.5gb so disk space is not an issue....just this darn 20 artificial limit.
Any solutions (seems a common issue from searches but cannot find any fixes)

This question is not really new. see here > https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=67111950&postcount=4
a solution is ,as i know, not available until now.
Tip: the record time seems to be a little longer, if you reduce the resolution.
see here->https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=67305581&postcount=23
But who wants to do that?

Yeah since these will be viewed mainly in vr, resolution matters a lot more then usual...damn, gonna have to rig up a timer and hit record again every 20 minutes, sometimes developers make some absolutely bonkers decisions, personally i would of just had it auto create a new file and let the user decide when to hit stop.
(and that thread did come up in my searches i but i did not want to necro it)

Well today was the big test and tbh the camera failed it.
Ok so the first recording stopped after 20 minutes, no surprise there as i was expecting it.
I restarted the recording and it stopped after 12 minutes
I restarted the recording and it stopped after 4 minutes
I restarted the recording and it stopped after 2 minutes!
It was rather warm to the touch (even though the room we were recording in was fairly cold)
i let it call down for a couple of minutes and tried again... it stopped after 9 minutes so yep it was over heating
I tried to record again...22 seconds
I gave it about 10 minutes to cool down and tried again, it lasted 19 minutes
Then 1 minute recording time
I gave it 2 minutes cool down and it lasted 7 minutes
then 2 minutes recording time
I gave it another 2 minutes cool down and it lasted 8 minutes
This is where the battery failed
Now this was in a large, not chilly but not warm room, with plenty of space around it. full recording length about an hour 45 ish all done with the wifi turned off on the camera to conserve battery on 360 degree mode full resolution (assuming manual record uses full resolution) total file size pre-converting (which using thier desktop app is taking forever!) 11.6gb
to say i am not impressed is an understatement.

somebody else has reported a notification requester after restarting his record again. Recording was discontinued because overheating of cpu. See here for more information about that: post 12!
-> http://360camerasforums.com/index.php?/topic/1079-record-while-charging/
This seems to be a health protection of LG 360 cam firmware. Stop of recordings after 20 min or 4GB of size (because the capability of FAT32)
as you can see, it should be the same circumstance with Samsung Gear

Yeah i get the feeling its early adopter symptoms and not something that is easily fixed (no amount of firmware updates is going to add cooling...unless it blows a capacitor and makes a hole, which may cause some unwanted side effects)
My 11gb 1 hour 35 minute 2k(not as impressive as that sounds, remember thats 2k for 360 degree so in reality much lower res then hd?) video is uploading to youtube, at the minute i can not share the link as one of my mates has asked the video remain unlisted until he has seen it.
It was a bleep to join the files together, everything i tried either did not work or wanted money, in the end i had to use a trial version of adobe premier cc 2017 (no idea what ill do next week, make a new adobe account most likely lol(in my defense if it was a one off charge i would pay it...£20 a month...nope dont have that kind of money) anyway, this took an hour and a half to join the files, but i loaded the result into the lg 360 desktop player and it worked perfectly
It should also be worth noting here for people that find this thread, the desktop application converted the videos a lot slower then my honor 8 smart phone.... i mean like 3 or 4 times slow and only one at a time. (my pc, being an i7 6700 with 16gb ram and a gtx 1080, should of had my phone dead to rights lol)

@mrgreaper
Normally a good video cut software has to render only the few frames between two parts of video. But all the costless software i know, will render the whole video again! This is absolutely unusable to save time!

you could test PowerDirector 15 of Cyberlink or VideoStich. Both are able to edit 360° video streams. You can get trials of both software!

XDA orbit 2 battery life for GPS with backlight off

HI
short question:
how many hours can this device work with gps logging when backlight is off.
I just want to log my location during my holiday trips (8~10 hours per day).
I dont use voice notification or any function else, just purely record gps location every 1/5/10 min.
10 hour? possible?
I use a bit of software called mysporttraining with the gps addon when I go running. I use it in conjunction with audio manager (to listen to tunes) with the screen turned off and go for about an hour at a time, although sometimes up to two.
I've not really taken much notice, but it doesn't seem to particularly eat into battering life, and two hour runs don't seem to eat more than 25% of battery life, although like I say, I don't really pay much attention to the battery level.
I've tested it running OZIexplore with GPS enabled, backlight on minimum (not completely off) and the battery charged to 100%, hoping to use it for logging my position in a day hikes. Well, forget about it. It runs for approx. 4 hours that way. You will get 5 hours top with no backlight at all, or something like that.
Maybe someone here can code some kind of program that would wake the device up every 5..15 minutes, wait up to 1 minute for the GPS to get a stable fix (should be much quicker that a minute with the ephemeris data from just 10 minutes ago, right ?), store the coordinates in some kind of log readable by popular applications and go back to standby. Obviously, there is no need to turn the screen on. This should easily give it a run time of a whole day from a single charge.

what a shame.
gps log for 8 hours would be a real all-around device for hiking.
Maybe I should get another battery and boost up life time to 4*2 hours?
I've not got round to putting mysporttraining back on my pda since I got it back (and I tend to get it back quite a lot), but I will in the next couple of days and will try running it from a full battery to see how long it lasts

Hi folks!
people from another forum said there run.gps (gps tracking for jogging app) works 8 hours . Maybe this is the trick:
"
The perfomance of both my batteries was initially poor (3-5 hours), but they improved by 20-40% after I ran them down a few times to near Zero. "
"Just running Run.gps (and the mobile on standby), with the screen and device locked via Windows (I keep it in my pocket when cycling/motorcycling) a battery will last 7-8 hours"
Not too bad!
I should really get my hands on some IDE + SDK for WM6 and/or Polaris, so i could try coding things like those myself. This really shouldn't be very complicated. Adding yourself to the notification queue should be as easy as calling some API or simply writing to registry. There should be plenty of examples on how get the coordinates out of the GPS data stream. The OZI track formats should be easy enough as well. Would EVC4 be good enough, or do i have to load the VS2005/2008 bloatware to be able to code for WM6 ?

Just had a play with this and it looks to have a lot of features. It's a shame it won't continue to work when you press the standby button.
With Mysport training you can fire it up, set audio manager going and switch the phone onto standby and it still tracks your movement. With run.gps it just stops the application.
Just been out for a run.
55 minutes in total, with audio manager playing an mp3 and my sport training running at the same time, with phone in standby.
90% battery at the start and 78% battery at the end.

great, that's 8 hous with gps+mp3. i am so gonna get one of this!!!
This is the main application you need
http://www.vidaone.com/mst_ppc.htm
Plus you need the GPS module
http://www.vidaone.com/mstgps_ppc.htm
I've been using it for the past 18 months or so. It won't do routefinding, but as a simple tool for logging your activity, speed, calories etc as well as weight and BMI etc it does the job fine.
If you have the desktop bit:
http://www.vidaone.com/vodf_win.htm
You can sync to that and see your route overlaid on google maps or mapmyride.
I've never really fully trusted battery meters on phones etc, I'll stick it on this morning and see how long it lasts until the battery runs flat

there is no routefinding? that's a pity.
I suggest run.gps www.rungps.net.
it's really a nice app.
they make new features based on users' request. e.g. they have made a heart rate logger for this app. shame is, so far there is no bluetootch heart rate monitor yet. as soon as it goes on the market, they will make a online-heart-rate monitoring function.
go and try.
Nope, no routefinding, as it's an app that's designed for logging and reviewing your activities rather than the former. It does me as I never get lost and just need it as an easy way of keeping tabs on whether I'm doing enough exercise.
Sounds like Run.gps is more the thing you are looking for.
Right, time for a retraction, it seems that run.gps will work with the phone in standby. Went out for a run today and it worked just fine with the phone switched into standby and mp3s playing. Battery drain looks comparable to mysport training too.
This kind of begs the question of why it wouldn't work on standby before - I had tested it in the car with the phone on the windscreen mount and when I switched it to standby it lost gps signal. The only other difference other than it being in a car is that the headphones weren't plugged in. I don't get it.
Run gps looks like a great program though
Stranger and stranger.
It *seems* that the GPS module continues to work with the orbit in standby when in the car only if the headphones are plugged in. How odd.
When an mp3 is playing, the phone is NOT on standby. Audio player should be the one that prevents the unit from entering standby in this case, that pretty much explains the GPS working as well while listening to audio, but shutting down without it.
Well... I tried it again this lunchtime as things didn't seem to be making sense. This time round it seemed to work with the headphones unplugged, nothing running apart from run.gps and the phone on standby (that is to say, the button at the top of the phone pressed until the display goes off).
Worked fine all afternoon and accurately tracked a bit of driving and sat in the office connected all afternoon and all the way home and into the evening.
With run.gps running all day, three or four phone calls, half a dozen texts and a few emails, plus a bit of browsing t'interweb I got a total of 8 hours and 5 mins before the first low battery warning.

thanks for such an experiment.
I will drop diamond and get a orbit 2 soon. (my handler offered me a good deal, but I have to wait till the end of this month.)
8Hr gps recording is impressive. diamond is small but I am perfectly confortable with my xda mini, so orbit 2 with similar size and weight must be ok.

Battery Test Result

Hi Friends,
While HTC EVO 3D fellows looking for tips how to increase battery time here in the link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1141221
I decided and checked my own LG-3D P920 . here are results (after 100% charged with adopter.)
Before test , i made sure followings
1 - 2G Data set to enabled all times
2 - GMail Sync Set and receives and send emails As soon as arrive
3 - Facebook account set
4 - Hotmail Account set to sync as push mail.
so all above done to use 2G non-stop. Now what I did with phone during test time
Made 30 minutes phone calls
15 SMS Received
10 SMS Sent
30 Minutes browsing & email reading
05 3D pictures captured
02 2D pictures captured
Viewing the pictures new and older ones- 10 minutes
Watched 10 minutes 3D pre-installed clips at phone
Played with phone ,like phone settings , check battery status several times - 10 minutes
Now phone is still alive after 65 hrs. still 8% battery remaining but going to charge to avoid any problem.
So what you think now, which worth more ? white elephant or black horse ???
Please don't forget to share your experience with Battery Time.
8% left after 65 hours is not so bad. I get two or maybe two and a half days and I don't take much photos, send/receive SMS or watch 3D content.
The only thing my LG is doing at the moment is syncing gmail, calendar and contacts as well as hotmail push. But over 3G, not 2G. Right now it's at 57% after 20 hours.
I'm using TiaiZO3D 1.5.1 and I removed the stock LG Home completely and replaced it with ADW Launcher. That seems to reduce battery usage a little bit (at least in Standby).
I never use WiFi and GPS only rarely. Screen is set to Auto Brightness.
65 hours its nice, i have this phone like 5 days now and my battery no longer last 16-20 hours with mid use. im gonna check the link and post my results.

btw , i dont want to take risk to install customized stuff at 1 week older phone...
I think , Launcher pro will increase the battery time but I wanted to test with default.
One thing i noticed:
In my Battery Usage statistics there used to be that entry "Android System" always hangin around 70%
Since I removed the LG Home Launcher for good and started using ADW Launcher, Android System floats around 10%
And I really have the impression that battery life increased slightly by switching launchers.
On 10k my android system is around 5% before it was in the high 70's.

[Q] [App Request] Loop recording camera app

Hi, I am trying to find a video camera app with a particular function. The idea is that the camera records in a loop of, say, 30 seconds (that is jut an example), constantly overwriting the beginning to make sure there is always 30 seconds of continuous footage recorded. Then, when you press a button, it saves everything from, say, 10 seconds before the button was pushed to 20 seconds after to a file. Then it starts recording again.
The advantage of this approach is that it lets you capture action more easily, for example sporting events, lightning strikes, birds catching fish, a baby doing something cute, etc. For events that are expected, but too quick and unpredictable to prepare for, human reflexes are too slow (and the phone is often slower), meaning that by the time you hit the button to start recording the event is already over. On the other hand, this approach takes much less storage space and less postprocessing than just recording continuously for minutes or hours.
If you have watched BBC's Planet Earth, it is the same principle used to get the shark attack videos (although that was also a higher-speed camera). I also had a camcorder with a similar function built-in. However, I have not been able to find such an app, either on google play or by searching the forums here. Does anyone know if such an app exists, or if there is an camera app that has this feature?

Probably, although how much depends on whether the looped video is short enough to keep in memory. But it wouldn't take any more battery than recording a continuous video, which is the only way to record these sorts of events without this feature.

[Q] I have a problem in the camera 4K mode

Hello guys
When I use put 4k z3 degree temperature rise significantly, then the camera closes in compulsory
Just use the camera in 4K two minutes
In manual mode 10 minutes
In automatic mode and 10 minutes too
Do you have a solution to it?
No. Model is D6616
I'm sorry,,, I use google translation
Its a known thing, almost every reviewer also mentions it stopping at around ~10 mins due to overheating, so don't worry you did not get a defective unit.
Only solution right now, is if you live in a cold area it will take longer before it stops, but basically the answer is no.

Update OP for bugreports from last version to check what's fixed, what's new, what's still broken. Will update my review as soon as I dig deeper into the new update.
Let's begin:
Update was about 22MB going from .05 to .7 and it took just a few minutes to install. (wasn't this supposed to be 06 or 6?)
On a first look there is a new MiCommunity app now being forced as system, it's like an app for their forum and being promoted as "must have", I don't think so, but that's that.
Testing download speed on a 150mbps uplink b/g/n router goes up to 30mbps but there is a QOS system managing the wi-fi, with QOS disabled we got a speed of 60mbps.
Testing download speed on moderate 4G signal is simply horrendous clocking at 2mbps and with full signal clocking at 4mbps (this is simply a joke) so the 4G bug still persists.
Microphone bug is now fixed, tested in Facebook Messenger, Facebook, Instagram, Whatsapp. But while in facebook messenger volume seems to be loud, in Facebook, Instagram, Whatsapp volume is lower, but audio is ok.
Video recording has a bug while focusing and sometimes misses the subject (not actually blurry, but soft focussed and not sharp), and while tapping to focus, it still misses (test it on your own computer screen). Camera seems to work ok as functionality, but JPEG quality is lowered, file size of photos is lowered, and the overall quality of the pictures is lower than previous update (old update picture file size 8MB, now 3MB). Picture attached, you can see some artifacting in the natural blur area (this is not portrait photo) and it only gets worse in low light.
Customize your pixel message is still present and cannot be dismissed.
5Ghz band in Wi-Fi tether is now working.
Sim card menu is still not adapted to the dark mode, it persists to be white while global theme is dark.
This update cleared about 2GB of storage space (at least for me).
Google Play security is still 1 May 2020.
Nothing new to report setting wise, no new features, nothing broken.
Overall performance testing each setting in the menu was very good, no slowdowns.
Moving to general system and 3rd party experience:
3rd party audio effects now work without process crash (Noozxoide EIZO-Rewire E).
Playback of SACD DSF, FLAC, and MP3 is flawless.
OK Google now works ok.
General audio quality was improved, by lowering the overall volume of media (Xiaomi's side) while keeping it louder for ringtones. Good job! Audio lacks bass a litte, but it's crispier now.
Gaming experience with resource heavy games is fine and has no problems: tested with Asphalt 9, Black Desert Mobile, Honkai Impact and PPSSPP emulation (framedrop to 24 from 30 - PSP games are locked at 30fps - is because the screenshot animation).
Multitasking while resource heavy gaming was done without system reloading any of those games, could switch to any of those games on the fly without problems.
Youtube playback for 1080p60fps didn't drop any frames (1 frames dropped when switching to 1080p60).
No other 3rd party, play store app encountered any problems.
During heavy testing CPU temperature didn't go over 42C and no thermal throttling slowed down the device.
With 96 applications loaded into the memory device started to work a little slower, but keeping in mind that 96 apps were loaded I believe that's just fine.
Now locking/unlocking, reboot and USB MTP testing:
Unlocking the device via fingerprint is smooth and fast with no apps started.
Unlocking the device via fingerprint with a lot of apps in the memory is still fast and smooth.
Unlocking the device via swipe is still weird but works better than the last update, so lockscreen unlock was not fully fixed, still fails sometimes to pop up pin code.
Lock and unlock sounds work as intended.
Notifications can ring over playing music without stuttering.
Charging sound work as intended, but it's a little quiet.
MTP is still inconsistent in transferring file batches. Files do not appear in Google or 3rd party apps after being copied to the card. Reboot makes the files appear, bug is still present.
Reboot time is ok.
Rapid charging is working even faster.
That's it, the phone is usable.
For the battery test, I need at least 2 cycles to test the actual battery life.
Cycle one - stand-by time, only 23minutes of SOT and only using the phone to auto-update apps (4g, wi-fi b/g/n, bluetooth always online) gives a stand-by time of ~5 days which is as expected.
Cycle two - I got about aprox 6 hours of battery time with screen on and heavy use with (wi-fi on, 4f and bluetooth). What was heavy use? I made sure the screen won't turn off for more than 10 minutes, gaming on resource heavy games, maybe 1-2hrs of screen casting Youtube and overall maybe 15 minutes of phone calls.
Conclusion: while stand-by times stayed the same over the updates, since A10 was released the SOT decreased. Also the phone was almost at thermal throttle limit after ~1hour. That's not quite optimized yet and while in normal day to day use I won't use my phone for 6 hours straight, that's not a good SOT for 4kmAh battery.
-----------------Later edit
It seems like glance notification screen is gone, notifications now wake up the phone in lock screen. The old feature was better because you couldn't interact with the screen when notified, so it wouldn't pose a threat in the pocket. Now you can interact with the screen.
Glance screen is back after reboot, bug didn't appear in >1 week of use.
A full charge takes 8 hours with original adapter. So charging speed is ****ed.. If anyone finds a solution,do share.

Never had this problem, but I would try a complete wipe and then reinstall the stock rom.
I can't see this update
How can they force a buggy app like Mi Community on every phone ??? The app sometimes crashes if I navigate too fast through it. Also, it asks for call logs in order to log in. I just don't trust xiaomi with these moves.
Edit: Also, Mi Community app notifications can't be disabled anymore from the notification channels.
Customize your pixel message is still present and cannot be dismissed.
OMG. Xiaomi please fix this!

Do double check cable and port support fast charging.
A data wipe solved the case.
In my experience battery life is worse.
+10% overnight decrease without doing nothing.
The first thing I noticed with 11.0.7 is that now when the phone is restarted, it doesn't pass the lock screen automatically.
In the last 11.0.x updates, when I restarted my phone, it started with the home screen instead of the lock screen while I had fingerprint activated.
+1 for 11.0.7
Still usable...
I've paused this update for several days because I did not want to ruin my Pie 9 phone, but one morning when I was using the phone as hotspot and the update was downloaded without my consent, so I rebooted and installed it.
Verdict after factory reset:
Android 10 gestures are a bit to much for my 3gb ram version. Pie 9 gestures work smooth like before. Forcing dark mode when in battery saving mode is hilarious when you have an IPS panel, because it uses MORE battery. Charging, battery drain and connection are about the same like on pie. Best thing is that the steps to adapt the volume on Bluetooth speakers are now far smaller the on pie 9, where it was either to loud or to silent.

Direct share is now working and brings the list of your recent contacts.
+1 for 11.0.7
Afet some days the lag reappear so Xiaomi didn't fix this and you need to restart the phone to work properly and after 4-5 days do the same is not very big deal but is annoying.
Bluetooth only hast SBC Codec. You can View curent Codec in Developer settings while playing. And after Bluetooth Connect to my Car the Bluetooth Volume ist verry Low.

bluetooth with my Uconnect Jeep Compass doesn't works!!!
Good news is that WiFi hotspot works for me now. It never worked on pie. I have no idea if it was working on older Q releases.
Bad news is that with WiFi or Bluetooth hotspot I cannot connect to adb. I'm fairly sure it worked in pie. Looks like I gotta take a wifi router or USB cable for dev on the road now.
Background apps don't stay in memory
I've already done a factory reset, disabled Adaptive Battery to no avail.
I've seen this problem posted in different places, even after the latest update v11.0.7
The following where posted after 2020-06-23

That's not a question.
Apps not staying in memory is a known issue with android 10. I reboot weekly as a workaround.

"... I also feel a big problem when switching from the facebook application to the Messenger application. In FACEBOOK application, look at user profile and then click on the icon message, and switch from FACEBOOK application to MESSENGER application. The transition from one application to another is time consuming.
