Hello dear members,
This is my first post on this forum and here is the story. The audio output of xperia l through headphones is a bit low for my liking, yesterday I was talking to one of my friends on phone and accidentally I started the music and surprisingly the nusic output was better and louder than normal, obviously I thought that it may be a mistake but no..i tried again and again also to be precise I turned off the mic on other side but the story remains the same, music is more louder during calls than normal. Please tell me if this is normal or not and if possible than how can I permanently get the music output that I am getting during the calls.
Thank You
pardon English
I think sony limits normal volume to protect ears

i got a popup "louder sound can do damage to your ears" or similar? you, too?

Yes, but far as I remember it only pops up once.
Is dere any way to remove that limiter?
I have done java phones modding, music output was enhanced by changing acoustic files.
And yes the pop up appeared only once.
Walkman volume
Found any solution for this Volume Limiter? If yes, please write tutorial or link one for Xperia L.Thanks.
open settings - apps - all - smart connect - disable and reboot
I've read it and not sure about it but deserve to give it a try
Hello
I noticed my Moto G LTE microphone volume is pretty low in Whatsapp, Recording apps and in calls. Other devices are much louder and clear (I tested against the SGS2 and SGS3) anyone facing this problem too or is my device broken?
I found using the QCATest app that the DEAFULT MIC (one used for all the mentioned above) has vey low volume but none background noise, PRIMARY MIC on the other hand, has little background noise but much better volume. I guess it's a software issue regarding the background voice cancellation mechanism? can anyone confirm this?
Not a single comment?
Please let me know if you have this problem or not. I don't know If I should contact Motorola and get my device replaced.
Thanks
A friend of mine is reporting a similar problem on calls - callers claim they can't hear well. I'm trying to figure out what is going on.
Bump...
No one noticed the low volume compered to other phones?
Please post your feedback

If you have a scratch guard them try removing it.
If it's not the problem, contact Motorola.

I only have a tempered glass which doesn't cover the mic hole.
I tried contact Motorola via their forums, no luck yet. I can try to send the device for "repair" but the waiting time will be too long (I don't have official support from Motorola in my country) and with problems like this, they might just send the device back to me claiming there is no problem at all.
I already found few people with this problem too but not a straight answer on this.
If Cm11, try bass boost

If you're using CM11, try enabling bass boost in the DSP settings.

I'm using stock rom 4.4.4 no root
I guess I should replace my phone as no one is seems to be having this issue.
Edit: If someone can post a sample recording from a supposedly normal device for me to compare I would appreciate this very much. Thanks
Can anyone actually point a recording app that they using and works good with the Moto G (as you can put your phone in the desk and speak at normal level and being able to hear ok)?
No one have a word on this? Although I found that the volume in the camera recording is much better it's still very far behind basically any other phone.
I have the same problem only apps that works fine is when I'm recording on Vine, but Instagram, the Camera App, Snapchat all have very very low mic volumes
Hi friends,
I am using Xz3 d6653 with latest LP.28 . I am facing top(upper) speaker problem since 2month.
1. after updating .28 firmware the speaker sound gone low,
2. after sound gone low, then few days after that top(upper) speaker Crackling...
I tried all settings including equalizer settings and all the things,, but no solution yet.
Today morning I root my device (First time in my life) and flash "Sound Mod v6.0 - Sony Sound Enhancement" I got Xloud feature, and in call both speaker ringing very well, and stereo speaker loudness good while playing songs or video, notification sound also increased, everything well, I like the Mod, but the problem is still top(upper) speaker crackling (even in low volume).
I want your help to solve out this issue.
btw I have few question related this issue:-
1. can I adjust the bass setting for the speaker?
2. can I adjust any sound setting for independent speaker???
3. what setting can be adjust to solve the crackling sound (amp, sound frequency, bit rate, etc etc..)?????
your help much appreciate..
Thank you in dvance.

Normally, if you have a problem with a mod, rom or watever on xda the right thing is to head to it's thread, or the thread you got it from and complain there, you have a better chance of fixing it that way... As someone else there might have had the same problem or better still i fix might have been posted.
Regardless, even tho i havn't tried this mod, i have read in the thread that the said v6.0 has issues as u described and recommendation is people should flash back v5.5 as it was better. Even the OP of the said thread said he will fix in the next update.
Go to the thread here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3/development/stereo-speakers-sound-mod-v3-2-z323-0-1-t3015912) and follow up on the discussion. Read the last few pages. Goodluck
As far as I've been reading, it's a common problem on most devices for the crackling on the top speaker when loud, it happened on my first z3, so far it hasn't happened on my current one, I'll test later and see if it does happen and I simply haven't noticed.
Only way I've found to stop it would be to lower the volume. Or if you can somehow get an equalizer app that works system wide, lowering the bass may help.

SONY Xperia Z5 - headphone jack - static + hissing noise
Description
Static / hissing noise through headphones and speaker while playing sounds (music etc.) especially on low volume. If DSEE HX is enabled in audio settings while using the official Sony music app, the sound is perfectly clear.
DSEE HX ON + Sony Music App = perfect sound
DSEE HX ON + YouTube, PowerAmp, ... = static noise
DSEE HX OFF + Sony Music App, YouTube, PowerAmp, ... = static noise
affected devices
Sony Xperia Z5
Sony Xperia Z5 Compact
Sony Xperia Z5 Premium
android version
Android 5.1.1
Build Number: 32.0.A.6.200
kernel: Stock, AndroPlus, etc.
troubleshooting
- flashed new / diffrent kernels and roms = same issue
- send to Sony Repair -> had to pay 250€ for repair because of unlocked bootloader = nope, certainly not

Anybody with the same issue?
I think I have it too, but I'm not sure.
My phone has cracked glass on back side so imo they will not repair it for free even with locked bootloader.
Did You check sound without headset?
Not all Z5s affected - mine is fine. I just tested the Sony Music App and turning DSEE HX on and off. Headphones are older Sennheiser PX 200 - maybe some audiophile will have 10 reasons why they're crap and my test doesn't count BUT there's NO STATIC doing the tests above.

Yes, I tested it with several headphones (good ones, and cheap ones). I know I have a good hearing (the first volume step is enough for me), but it MUST be audible for every normal person.
You tried different headphones ? (I've tried 2 different headphones so far, and experienced this only upon using the other pair yesterday: Creative EP630; vs. some Philips Headphones where it didn't occur - so far ...)

uh, okay
I remember that at the beginning there wasn't any static noise but now the only option that "fixes" this is using DSEE HX,
this is ridiculous !
(I'm also getting this on the Galaxy S1, btw )
This bothered me a great deal since sometimes I listen to music before I sleep and it's really annoying - getting me to be more alert rather than more and more sleepy
One way to promote DSEE HX
Could be that software updates to certain components (kernel ? music player ? libraries ?) did cause this or some other factors

I tried the Z5 headphones, Sennheiser In-Ear CX 300, and Sony MDR1A. With the MDR1A the sound quality was ok.
I tried diffrent kernels, flashed diffrent roms...everytime the same problem. I think DSEE HX is only enabled in the Sony Music App. If someone could find a solution to enable it systemwide, that would be great.

Yeah, I'm planning to use this phone partly for work & at home so it has to work flawlessly - calming after some stress is also part of the plan.
Nice ! I've got the same Sony MDR1a, will see how those work for me
Anyone took a look at the following soundmod ?

Challenge accepted :silly:
(once I unlock the bootloader & use custom parts - I'm still seeing whether I can get this all to work without modding & mainly work on Sony's part )
@alphatact1cs that MOD appears to be system-wide, it's not DSEE-HX but it's a start, after that it might only be some modding to get DSEE-HX globally
edit:
okay, tested the following additional headphones (high quality ? what are their differing characteristics ?)
MDR-1a
Xiaomi Piston V2 (2.1)
in both the static noise ("white noise") was still there but only much more subtle - still annoying in the long run
edit2:
is this "static noise" equal to IMD+Noise measured by gsmarena ?
http://www.gsmarena.com/sony_xperia_z5-review-1326p7.php
http://www.gsmarena.com/gsmarena_lab_tests-review-751p4.php
If yes, it would be nice to know if the original Xperia Z also head this "behavior":
http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_note_3-review-996p8.php (similar values with headphones attached for IMD+Noise)

I added it to my INDEX so others will find it, thanks.
Its not a permanent noise, it interferes with the music, but only when a tone is played. I have to get my phone back from Sony, then I can try new solutions and record the distortion.
[INFO]: Lower SPL/mW means lower noise. The device has to use a higher voltage to generate the same amount of volume = fewer distortions.
Got some new experience:
If "Developer Options" are enabled and "Use AwesomePlayer (deprecated)" is toggled, then there's no output for Sony's Music app (while DSEE HX is enabled),
but the other music apps (only some ?) still work but there's also still the white noise while playing music (e.g. JetAudio), so I assume that doesn't use NuPlayer ?

(also posted in ProjectDesire thread)
Another observation:
When setting the preamp to -30 dB on the Galaxy S1 (Voodoo Sound Mod), the white noise mostly goes away - the max output isn't as high as with preamp set to max (of the hardware limits) - but output is much clearer and appears less distorted (IMD, THD ? http://www.gsmarena.com/gsmarena_lab_tests-review-751p4.php )
The difference is that with DSEE HX on the max output appears to be non-changed from the default (e.g. no settings or ClearAudio+),
so DSEE HX appears to utilize the hardware's full potential (preamp TFA98XX according to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64005513&postcount=4),
while also tuning the software to optimum ...
edit:
essentially what the following does: https://github.com/AndroPlus-org/an...mmit/3ad9cddb55bc361c8bf8f6d38159c7d4efd95b92 Fix static noise on high end headphones , but that comes with the issue of voice cancelling not working, so perhaps not so low values ...
Looks like we also need some sort of Voodoo for the Z5 series ( @supercurio I'm looking at you)
I think Rev4 is the one with least problems. I don't feel this, think lucky me.

Hi all,
Just had this problem on my Z5. Fixed by going to Settings > Sound & notification > Audio Settings
and turned DSEE HX off and ClearAudio+ off. Then in Sound effects, turn everything off.
Cheers.
I get the hissing statistic background effects too when playing videos, music, games etc.. Anybody found a solution to this?? Changing audio settings doesn't make a any real difference.. possibly a software/driver bug?? I can't remember if the sound was hissing on lollipop before I updated to marshmallow.. it's subtle hissing-static but very noticeable when putting the speaker close to the ear.. It almost sounds like sound interference or sound crossover (different frequencies overlapping causing static rustling hissing effect)..
Original Xperia Z never had this issue.. I just hope it's not device/speaker related as I can't be bothered going through a long process for a replacement..
But if it was device speaker related, wouldn't the noise also occur while on a phone call?? Both internal and external sound?? Just a thought..
I'm going to look in to this further and see if I can find a possible perm fix or something, unless one already exists..
Any ideas guys??

Okey, I found an ACTUAL fix for this, believe it or not You do have to pay a few dollars for an app called FauxSound if u want it to work though, and it's not 100% perfect, but makes the white noise inaudible in ALL apps for me. Also, it's not my fault if this doesn't work for you, or ends up exploding your phone or something :3
I expect most of you to find this as easy as installing any mod, but in short you have to use FauxSound (or maybe an alternative, I used FauxSound) together with a supported kernel, which in my case was Zach's Kernel Playground. Stock and AndroPlus does NOT work. Long story; after installing the kernel (or the FauxSound supported kernel of your choice) through TWRP and downloading FauxSound from Google Play, I opened the app and put "Digital Output Gain Controls" down to -17 after toggling "Link Headphones Gain Controls". Keep in mind that I use the Headphone volume boost mod which is posted somewhere here on XDA, so unless you also use that, you might want to turn it to -10 or so. After that it was as simple as turning volume a few steps higher than normal and listening to music with NO white noise/static . Best part is that if you're using speakers where the volume is too low, you can use the same app to boost the volume past what's standard. That also includes your phone speakers, but be careful not to break your phone or other equipment.
BTW, I use the Z5 Compact, and I'm suspecting you Z5 users to have more kernels to choose between. Also, this might use more battery or something, don't know and don't care.
Gonna go and post this on Z5C forum too, good luck
Edit: Also, the FauxSound app has a bug where your settings will reset when you open the app/browse through its menus. TURN DOWN THE VOLUME BEFORE CHANGING THE SETTINGS. Or else you'll get your volume turned up to max and blow up your ears. It also MIGHT reset when phone has idled, and will (depending on your settings) reset when you reboot your device.
Also, small bug when phone has idled, if noise is higher on one earpiece or goes up and down, go into the app and drag "PowerAmp" up or down.
Edit: Wrong acc :|
One possibility could be the Audioflinger
The Audioflinger has the normal outputs like Direct, Fast, Deep Buffer, etc. and a special one made by Sony for Sony devices called Sony High Resolution Audio API
This cause why we have DSEE-HX and why we can hear Hi Res songs on all Sony phones up to Z3
So my theory is then that they made some mistakes on the Audioflinger on the normal outputs which cause this static noise, and that's then why u don't have it on DSEE-HX because there the Sony Hi Res Audio API works and that is a new output
I hope I could help a bit with that, again that's just a theory and I just can know that when I have the source code

Hi everybody
I've had the same issue described in the 1st post since I bought my z5 e6653.
Now I updated it to 32.3.A.0.376, Nougat. Nothing seems to have changed, but I experienced interesting things, even if i don't know if they are related to the nougat update but my situation at this moment is the following:
Google play music or Sony music: headphones + DSEE HX on-> perfect sound
Google play music or Sony music: without headphones -> noise even with DSEE HX
Any video or game: noise anyhow
But...
First strange thing:
Spotify with or without headphones, DSEE HX on or off..perfect sound! It's the only app at this moment to have a perfect sound without any "help" nor DSEE HX !
Second:
I read something above about faux sound, but I tried with a free app that is "volume booster goodev": when you open this app it's just a pop up and you can choose the % of boost. That's the strange thing: I press play in Google play music, then I set the % of boost on 0 or 1% in that pop up and...the noise goes away!! The same volume (1% boost is not so much and it works even with 0%) but without this annoying noise! And it seems to be working with all of my apps.
Why a simple app can solve this problem while Sony doesn't move a finger?

Hi,
I managed to make a video demostrating the issue we're facing. I can't post the link as a new user :/ The video id is "d63WJi0-kuo" and the title is "Sony Xperia Z5 Compact noise / hissing / distortion issue with sound".
