Hello I am having a problem with a new HTC m8 I bought on eBay. It was brand new when I get it but it can't connect to any of our local networks. I have tried 3 different sim cards. I have tried so many methods to no avail. I have done factory reseting, I have unlocked the bootloader, I have unrooted it, I have tried to slightly change the imei (last 3 digits) I have tried adding lte bands, I have tried backing up the efs files and restoring them and all these methods haven't worked. Everything else is working on the phone, wi-fi, bluetooth etc, except that it cannot connect to a network. I can't make calls or send messages. Please help.

I experienced several cases and I think it's hardware failure

My phone is Verizon xv6875, I am from China.
I made a Hard reset (by press and hold the Volume down, Send key and Power key, then Press the Volume up).
But after reboot the phone, it can not connect to a network services, says no service. I have a GSM SIM Card with China Mobile service.
I've tried different networks with SIM cards which are working well with other phones.
Also I have tried my GSM SIM Card with other phones, and it works well.
I have reflashed a custom ROM, sim card detected, and switch to global mode. but still no service.
Verizon xv6875:
Radio verison:1.96.0ESN
PRL verison:00202
PRI verison:1.42_003

Anyone can give me some suggestions?
I need your help!
I have contacted with HTC, and I was told this device was customer made by a personal company.
But show Verizon logo at the top of this device.
Hard reset (Not System Wipe device) may lose something in RAM.
And dial *228 nothing happened.
Is it needs to activate the phone?
What I can do?
I have reflashed a Chinese Arlen's patched radio, after rebooting shows Radio 1.96.0ESN, but still dos not work.
With help of "Xiaolei", a Chinese people, My device is working fine now.
It is need to use QPST-Software Download to restore Data backup from a device working fine, and reboot.
So, Verizon xv6875 we cannot make Hard reset, it my lost some network data.
Thanks and Merry Christmas!
Hey folks, i tried searching here for my issue. I found many similar threads, but nothing that solves my issue.
Two days ago i started having issues sending picture messages, today i start losing network signal until it cut out alltogether.
I tried multiple sims from different carriers and got nothing. Ive tried the following:
Factory reset.
Rebooting and reinserting sim
Resetting apn settings, custom apn settings.
I have WiFi, and the symbol says "no service" nothing about emergency calls only.
The new information i have, which i didnt find on other threads here is this; i found a sim card app and tried it, its able to pull my sim card information off the card, (phone number etc.) yet i get no cell service. Any ideas?
Nexus 5
Stock lollipop
Hey @kimsgrim
Hmm so u already did a factory reset? And didn't restore anything before test?
Really stock or u changed anything (Rom or Kernel)?
But ur phone doesn't say "No Simcard found, please insert and reboot" or kind of that?
If no the simcard is fine and the phone also seeing it. The sims u tested where card which definitly work on other phones?
So two things possible in my opinion:
1) System problem: Anything is reset or not working, which should be done with a factory reset or maybe flashing another stock firmware over
2) Hardware defect of antenna. Would be sad, but no other point for be atm.
Much success
CHEERS
Sounds like the sim card reader is messed
Hey!
I have a strange problem with my Mi4i (MIUI 7.5.2.0). The phone shows "no signal" or "emergency calls only" with a specific sim card, which works in other phones and used to work in the phone in the past.
The device works well with other sim cards too, even from the same provider. Just not with the specific sim card, which happens to be the one i would like to use. I cannot remember if the problem occured after an update (ota only).
I have tried so far, without any effect:
- a factory reset, without deleting the personal content.
- ordered and tried a new sim card from my provider
There seem to be similar threads in this forum, but they do not adress exactly my problem afaik.
Does someone has an idea what else i can try? I will provide further information if needed.
Thanks in advance!

Might be an unsupported band. What phone have tried the sim with?
Thanks for reading . Oneplus One, iPhone 5C. Sorry i forget to tell the sim card worked in the Mi4i. I didn't use the phone for a while and i might have updated it (ota) when i turned it on again recently. I guess the problem persists since then.
Any chance the update caused it?
did a full wipe and reinstalled miui (7) in fastboot mode. no change. the sim card works fine with other phones. the phone works with other sim cards fine too. just not with my main one
Alright, so, last weekend I got a new Samsung Galaxy J7 with Android 6.0.1. The first thing I did was rooting it. It was all going fine until I accidentally unticked the "OEM Unlock" option on Developer Mode, so when I rebooted it, it had an FRP Lock.
I used a Latin American firmware to be able to boot it again. At boot, there was this "entel" logo, and this seemed to have changed my IMEI because my phone always said Network Unavailable. I didn't check the IMEI prior to rooting it, but I noticed the printed one and the one shown on the phone weren't the same... but this isn't the real problem.
Originally, the phone was unlocked (no specific carrier/operator holding it), and I somehow "fixed" the Network Unavailable thing by erasing the efs folder on root... well, it was a longer process than just deleting it, I backed up the folder and copied some files (some might know what I'm talking about). After that, the IMEI was the same than the printed one, but, my phone is now network SIM locked!
I have to input a code to unlock it. I did some googling and apparently only the carrier can give it to you, so I tried 3 different carrier SIM cards to see if any of them were the carrier's, but none of them worked as accepted, and I don't know what carrier could it be... I'm even worried it may be a Latin American one (from Chile or Argentina maybe since that's where the firmware used was from) and I won't be able to get it.
I know there are websites to get a code, but I don't want to pay so much and risk getting scammed.
I tried to see if "entel" was a carrier to unlock it, but it didn't help.
Also, when I try to choose a network on Mobile Networks settings, the only available one is AT&T (which I don't use/have a SIM of), but when I accessed their website to unlock, it said my IMEI wasn't registered as theirs apparently.
Then, I also tried using Samsung's Smart Switch application on PC with the Device Initialization option, but when I try to use the firmware from that I get a SW REV. Check Fail.
I might be wrong, but I feel that since messing with the system files/root was what changed it, maybe I can fix it the same way with no unlock code or carrier help.
So, does anyone have advice, or know some other way to reset it? Or do I really have to go get it fixed/unlocked somewhere?

Did you ever get anywhere with this? I am trying to switch carriers from t mobile to boost on the Sm-j700f and I need to unlock it
I have a Samsung Galaxy A5 2017 SM-A520W, which I recently bootlooped and had to reinstall the firmware using Odin. However, when I restored my nandroid backup, the SIM card refuses to be recognized. It works in my other phone however (which I temporarily switched it while I fixed the samsung). So I tried resetting network settings, clearing the cache and other suggestions, until I finally decided to just factory reset the rom and see if it recognizes it from a clean OS, and it didn't. I can't see any reason why the hardware would be broken, since all I did was take the SIM card out and put it back in.
So then I thought about the firmware. I got it from here, which has a ton of different product codes for different carriers and countries. I'm in Canada on the Fido network, so that's what I chose (FMC). But Fido is owned by Rogers, which is a different product code (RWC)... So I'm wondering if choosing the wrong firmware will actually prevent the SIM card from being recognized? I can't understand why it's not recognizing it. >.<
Any ideas?
Thanks!
Have you checked the APN name and settings?
Hmm, I'm not sure I understand, can you explain further?

I mean the settings for the carrier like mmsproxy and ipv4, etc...
It's a longshot but it's in settings and network settings - mobile data.
I do not know exact english words used... Accesspointname if directly translated.
Describe more about phone behaviour.
Do you get same notifications as when no sim in phone?
