Can this baseband be rooted? Can I downgrade to a rootable ver? Seems like I'm the only one looking to root this device cause there is nothing I could find on the interwebs about it. Only a few one click root apps that failed
so no help on the g925vvrs4cqa3?
It's not possible as verizon has locked the bootloader. Nought is coming soon, wait for that to root.

I have the same rom variant as Op. I just got the alert about the Nought update this morning but have held off. What do you mean by wait for that to root. Will there be a Nought root, or will them root marshmallow now that nought is our?

Earlier I unlocked and rooted my Sprint Galaxy Nexus using GNextoolKit 7.9. I did not flash a different ROM. I have Android 4.0.4 L700.FG01.
Since the news is that Sprint is pushing JB out starting today, I would like to bring my phone back to stock and allow the OTA update.
I probably will not unlock again until a K version appears.
Is there a step-through to restore to stock using GNexToolKit 7.9? I am afraid I need pretty detailed guidance.
As far as I know you don't need to re-lock your Nexus to receive OTA updates, and I don't know if you need to unroot, but you might lose root after update anyway

Agreed... some roms include stopping ota updates so it's not the unlocked bootloader that stops updates. You should get the update but you may lose root afterwords.

thanks, I will keep this info and refer back if I need to.
The title says it all. I really hate 4.4 on this device and would like to root so I can get the real 4.4 launcher and apps. Is it possible to downgrade?
Nope not unless you a a Developers Edition with boot loader unlocked. This is because signature check prevents downgrade from 4.4
1080xt root 12.15.15

You're likely going to be waiting a long time. VZW and/or Motorola isn't going to be unlocking it anytime soon and I don't believe there's anyone that has come close to being able to do so. You are much more likely to get root at some point in the future, if someone comes up with an exploit to do so.
what information do we have on rooting after the 4.4.2 ota update? Also is there any information on unlocking the bootloader? I'm trying to see what other people have tried before I keep going at the same things that have failed. Also is there any information on changing the imei/flashing this? My end goal is cyanogenmod on Virgin Mobile. I've done this with other phones and I just got my hands on this one but there doesn't seem to be as much into on this as others.

Root after 4.4.2 ota?
Unlock Boot loader after ota?
Is it flashable to virgin mobile?

****. So I'm holding an unrootable piece of crap? What information do we have on methods of root attempted and such. Maybe I can contribute to this I've got nothing but time.
Edit: your thread unlocks gsm support. VM would probably need me to reprovision everything and change my IMei to match a donor phone.
I've been attempting various root methods for 4.4.2 and for the RAZR in general. I've had no luck. Is there a collective of people working on this cause I'd love to contribute however I can.

Just as an FYI, that is called "lambda" which is a greek symbol.
Also, this works on 183.46.10 (the current KK ota that came out a few months back), but it does NOT work with the latest soak test (183.46.14), so you need to stay on 183.46.10, root with towelroot and then unlock your bootloader. If you do not do this AND if you take the soak test, you will be unable to root as a root exploit for 183.46.14 does not exist.
I don't want to say it won't ever be rooted, but as more and more exploits are patched up, it becomes harder and harder to root this phone, so your best bet is to root and unlock the bootloader on 183.46.10. Don't take the chance on whether a root exploit will be found or not. You'll save yourself, and the rest of us, a lot of headaches.
If you have already applied the 183.46.14 before rooting and unlocking your bootloader, you are SOL. There is NO way to go back to the previous version and root and unlock, so please do NOT ask how to revert back from the current soak test (183.46.14) and root and unlock your bootloader because you can't. You just can't, so don't ask.
I repeated what I just said because people always ask "well, if you flash back to 183.46.10". The problem is, the exploit that allowed unlocking of the bootloader is in a protected area that even unlocked bootloaders cannot write to without the proper encrytion keys. Once that area has been patched via the latest soak test, you have no way to write over it again because you would need the proper encryption key inside the image to flash in order for it to work. Unless Motorola becomes nice and gives you the key, it won't work. And the previous OTA's key is now invalid, so again, flashing the previous FXZ (183.46.10) will not work. It will just skip writing the protect area.
Clear as mud? Hopefully.
thats lambda....but you knew that
Hello,
This might be a repeat question, but somehow I am not able to get a stable solution.
So I am on G930A ATT and just received Nougat update. However, I would want to go back to Marshmallow 6.0.1
My device is NOT rooted and is locked to ATT.
Any suggestions how can I get back MM 6.0.1 ? Can someone please guide me with detailed steps and tools which can be used.
Thanks.

Don't think you can as your S7's bootloader is locked meaning downgrading won't work, only upgrading

Thank you for response.. But could you please elaborate a bit.. so I can't downgrade due to the fact that my device is locked to ATT..
If it would have been unlocked, then I could ? Trust me, Nougat update is really annoying and I really want to get rid of it..

It's the bootloader of the US model S7s (Snapdragon) that prevent it, along with preventing flashing custom recovery afaik
Usually you would just use ODIN and grab the ROM you want to flash from updato.com or sammobile but I'm almost certain downgrading is blocked if the bootloader is locked
Not specifically anything to do with your AT&T carrier, it's the phones themselves that are locked
Some info here about snapdragon S7s and their locked bootloader

Don't hold your breath. A 2yr old phone with a locked bootloader? I'd be surprised if anything happens.

Sad, isn't it.
?
I guess the next time I go to get a phone, I'll have to research for the ones that are rootable, with unlocked bootloaders, so that I can flash a rom. FFS.
