There is a firmware update available if your on stock unrooted firmware. It's a small update so I'm assuming it just a security and modem update. For kicks I googled Samsung disabler pro apk after the update and aptoid was kind enough to have the latest apk available. You have to download aptoid to get the disabled pro apk but you can remove it after you install the disabler pro apk. Just thought I'd share the news. :good:
Do you know which one I have to freeze or disable.

It did stop working for a while after nougat was released.
Does that site have the pro apk for free? If so remove the link. The guy who created it is an XDA member and he deserves his 2 bucks!

It stopped working because of a problem on their end for a very short time. Everyone thought it was Nougat because it just so happened to quit working at the same time one of the betas dropped. Worked ever since. Best $2.49 or wherever it was I've ever spent in the play store.

Take the update, it's nothing major, just a security update a modem update. Root has been pretty great since I edited the root bat file, directions and modded root.bat are in the how I rooted my phone thread in here. Look at the OP and there's a link to the root bat I tweaked and instructions on how to install. Quite a few of us are running it and it's lag free and doesn't heat up. The battery life is amazing also.

yeah you are right man i rooted with your bat file and i follow the instructions and i'm a heavy root user and it seems to be smoother than MM and much better. I don't notice any lag . It's perfect actually. i need to unroot so i can log into snapchat but then i'm going to root again. But question.. should i unroot then update to the latest update then root again ? right now i'm at QA6 on ATT. BTW thanks again for sharing your information and root and the bat file.

Glad ya like it! I would go into the Super SU app and go into settings and do a full unroot, reboot and then run the unroot bat, it will reboot again and then log into snatch chat, reboot and run root.bat file. You can do everything from scratch again but I've dirty flashed the root.bat many to es and it still runs great.

How did you root the first time ?
Looks like the adb root method with Gingerbreak is not working with the update. Guess I'll stick with the Thunderbolt as daily driver until another root method comes down the pike.
Wonder if that's why the phone was delayed - to disable easy root.
I dunno, seems unlikely... this post suggests there have been significant performance improvements:
http://www.gottabemobile.com/2011/05/13/verizon-pushes-software-update-to-samsung-droid-charge-prior-to-launch/
I was rooted. lost it.
I picked mine up on the way from work and was setting it up when I got the OTA.
I had most everything removed that I wanted to, ran titanium and already set up my hosts file when I got the OTA pop-up. I ran it but I lost root and the method I used to root it now do not work. Has anyone found a new method to root the Charge?
Anyone care to dump the new build for me?

I haven't been prompted to update to VRBMF1 yet and haven't manually updated. I am still on VRBMB1. Ready to try Beans' one click root method but not sure whether to take the update first or not. Anyone have any suggestions?
Pretty sure it'll work, it doesn't really matter if you're going to end up flashing a custom rom; but it's all preference maybe if you want the new modems just take the update.

Can you provide info if the one click method works for you. I am on VRBMF1. Never rooted before.
Just root. The newest update had signal and battery issues, along with many other issues. Verizon even pulled the OTA. Flashing a newer ROM will give you the newer features anyways, and it will be better.

It was incredibly easy. Only thing that tripped me up at first was that I didn't have the Samsung drivers installed on my PC. Since the thread didn't mention installing them I was assuming they weren't needed. You can get them here. Once I installed them and went through the steps in the thread, I was rooted and unlocked in a few seconds.
I highly recommend LiquidSmooth v2.7 if you'd like to get rid of TouchWiz.

What method do you use to root? I'm on the VRBMF1 build already, on Verizon. I have the S3 toolkit from mskip, but it says it can't do anything until I get the bootloader unlocked. Now I can't find any method to unlock the bootloader for this build. I feel I'm just missing something stupid, but I can't find it :crying:

As usual kids, if you've rooted and put on a custom recovery or otherwise modified your ROM, DO NOT UPDATE.
And if you plan on rooting in the future, I also advise you to not update. See if the new version can be rooted with the current tools. Loki and the adb exploit have changed on some of the later versions.
LOL
Updating from 10o to 10q.
I don't have high hope seeing KK anytime soon.
Let's see.

Auto Download & Install
My G2 automatically downloaded this update and tried to install it, but caused a boot-loop with TWRP.
It was charging in another room so I had not accepted any requests to update, if there were any.
It is fixed, but I am angry that it downloaded and attempted to INSTALL the update on its own.
This is true!!! Only message I got was installing in 30 sec
Sent from my LG-D800 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
the update only has the support for future updates for the g2,meaning, that it is most likely setting up for the 4.4 update. who knows when thats gonna happen though. hopefully soon

Sub'd.
I was literally doing the exact same thing this afternoon too. My friends phone has the newest OTA and is on firmware D80010q.
I tried the normal methods to no avail. I was able to get Superuser on the phone, however, didn't have root access. From what I've been able to come up with we have to downgrade to D80010d in order to root it. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=50354625&postcount=2121
I also am looking for some confirmations on what I mentioned above. Thanks!

Yeah its not my phone, its a girl who lives a few hours away. But if the rooting software isn't updated by the next time I see her (2 weeks or so), I'll most likely give it a shot. Post here or PM me and keep me updated on how it all goes. I found a youtube video that went through it and it doesn't seem that difficult.
Yea my friend isn't exactly close and she is likely to be deterred by any extra steps.
Does that video cover downgrading the software version back to d? If so post the link. If it's just a rooting a video I don't need it. I already rooted my Sprint G2.

I guess I'd also be interested in this, since I'm sick of seeing the update notification, but don't want to lose native tethering/root/gravitybox (if I can keep all three of those with 4.4.4, please help me figure out how, but it seems the write protection gets turned back on, so at the very least, I'd be losing xposed/gravitybox).
Haven't ever had Titanium backup installed or frozen anything, is it a free app? Or is there another way to do it?
Have to freeze Motorola OTA in titanium then in root browser go to the system cache and delete the OTA file.
I finally found them with the android tuner app from the app market and froze them

And I used ROM Toolbox and froze the Motorola OTA app/apk.
It has worked fine for me for the last three-four days.
