Here's the thing, since I sold my z2 I've been browsing around different manufacturers, but that's not too relevant, just wanting to say I have experience with Sony and stamina mode since I've owned:
Z, Z Ultra, Z2 (some others not from sony) and now Z3.
The thing is that either Stamina is now unusable when compared to what I remember on previous owned Sony phones, or there's something I'm setting up wrong...
First I know that after enabling Stamina, you can add exceptions, basically applications that will still receive notifications while Stamina mode is ON.
On my past Sony phones, this meant instant notifications, as it was expected, I guess, and I was happy with it, as I need to have gmail, calendar and some messaging app always connected.
Now onto Z3.
I see that just turning on Stamina won't let me add exceptions, and that requires extended standby to be ON too.
Ok, I turn it on and it says that it will turn off mobile data and wi-fi, and I'm like wtf how will I get notifications then? Anyway I turn it ON set my usual apps in exceptions list...and this is where the "fun" begins.
It seems like the exceptions list I set simply does not matter as I will not get any notifications if the screen is off. And I mean NO notification whatsoever. If I turn the screen on, they all appear.
So this is not like I am expecting for Stamina mode to work...does Sony really ruined this piece of software like it seems?
How is it that on my other Sony phones Stamina worked as expected: very low standby drain with notifications actually always incoming (only from apps in exceptions)? Vs this thing now, which is basically useless if you want to have some notifications still, with it turned on.
Disable the "data/Wi-Fi off when screen off" toggle, maybe?

You cannot have Stamina Mode enabled without turning ON the Extended Standy mode too...which turns off the mobile/wi-fi data. Smart isn't it?
EDIT: To add to the issue, if I enable and then disable the stamina mode, it aparently stops notifications permanently for some apps...what the actual F?

Because my phone apparently won't let me.
I CANNOT, repeat, CANNOT let stamina ON without enabling extended standby. It's that simple...this thing sucks

Just updated with the stagefright fix build, I see what you set up there, but what is the meaning of stamina mode like that? That is just a performance reducing feature, not Stamina, it I set it up like that.
Just to add to the injury, to some apps that were in the exceptions that did not receive notifications in stamina mode (or extended mode whatevs) I had to clead cache/data for them, to actually receive notifications again AFTER disabling extended batt mode.
I cannot fathom how wrong this thing is, they basically ruined a perfectly working feature of the phone, that I actually liked/used.
Not sure how you want it to turn off the internet when screen off (as the text says it will) yet allow them to work and have notifications on time? Maybe have some at an interval ( as the other switch says) ?
Just because it did it in the old phones does not mean anything.
Oh, do you use any firewall? It needs to be whitelisted too.
In the mean time how much does a full charge hold you anyway? 2 days? Less?

If it was possible then? Why not anymore? Software regresses on Xperias now? Damn wrong if that's true.
I also thought there must be an interval at which notifications are being checked for whitelisted apps, but If I receive a message on whatsapp at let's say 3 o'clock it will not notify me even after 2 hours. (this happened)
Tried factory reset, firmware update, all that I could, but no go.
No firewall also, clean connection. A full charge gets me trough two days mostly, one and a half if I go insane wiht picture taking and gaming. All in all pretty good battery life, but not that amazing compared to the old Z2.
I think I need to get rid by this OCD of having features that actually work, by flashin the marshmallow concept build, at least that one doesn't have Stamina mode!

Compare Z2 vs Z3, not sure who promised you "better" battery life on the Z3 but they lied.

I come from sony xperia z3 compact, which had a really cool feature, stamina mode, and what i especially liked about it, is that when it was activated and you locked your phone (screen lock) - it restricted ALL background data, no exceptions. Only when you lighted the screen, it would activate the data. Does anyone know, how can i achieve the same feature with the Samsung S7. Basically all i want is that if i lock my screen, all the background data is truly disabled?
Samsung's equivalent of stamina mode would be the "Power Saving" option, of which there is two tiers("Mid"and "Max"). Background data is restricted by default in both modes, although I think the "Mid" tier still allows it periodically.
Yeah i saw them, thanks for the input, although the MAX setting makes the phone lose its features. I will try the MID setting (i disabled the limiting of cpu and some other stuff, because i want it to function normally when i use it). Maybe theres an app, that will make it work just like i want it. Because the s7 battery should last longer - with sony, wifi off and background data restricted, i sometimes got like 4 days without charging. I am not a 24/7 nose in the screen type of a guy anyways, i mostly call and when neccessary look stuff up on google and read my mails. Would be nice to extend this S7 battery to around 3 days or so with such usage.

You can add *some* apps for use in MAX mode, most notably WhatsApp. Maybe use Tasker to toggle data when the screen turns off?(Would need root though). But yeah, there's only so much you can do for a big AMOLED paired to a power hungry SoC I've never known more than a day and a half's usage though. Perhaps other people have better suggestions.
so far its been 6,5h since last charge, and its on 91% - with the mid power saver mode, cpu limiter disabled, screen res on FHD, screen brightness about 40-45%, wifi off, and gps on high accurancy - it looks somewhat promising. I'll see how long it will last on that charge and proceed from there.

I have an almost brand new XZ, lately it's been very laggy. Certain apps take forever to open, and when I close apps, the app schortcuts take forever to load. Apps lags, Snapchat is a nightmare. Sometimes the power button don't work when i try to open my phone, I have to wait a couple minutes before I can use it again. While using Spotify, the whole phone is a nightmare to operate.
I have used ca half of the storage capacity, and I'm runding the latest duality ROM (Could that be my problem?) I had the same problem with the Z2 and the Z5 compact. Is it a general Sony problem?
Ccleaner tells me almost all by RAM memory is being used.
Any help?

First of all, yes a ROM can cause that therefore I recommend going back to stock. 2nd: uninstall all "cleaner/antivirus" apps, Android is not Windows, it doesn't need it and they use a lot of RAM too as well as track activity on your phone, there is a built in smart cleaner in the Sony stock rom if you really want to use something (most recommend turning it off anyway).
As for the other issues, I know spotify has some issues with SD cards (if you're using one), and Snapchat app is just crap it will lag any Android phone nothing you can do about that.
Reg. the RAM usage, unused RAM is wasted RAM, its ok to be near full capacity, its normal as Sony intended since RAM itself is just used mostly for multitasking where you need the apps to be cached so you can get back to them fast instead of reloading them again, normally it doesn't use a lot of battery but sometimes apps get stuck and need to be force closed.
Another issue i noticed specific to this phone is heat; if you live in a hot country where the temperature is normally over 40 c then the phone will lag, nothing you can do about that unfortunately. I've stopped using my XZ due to this, for some reason Sony decided to heavily throttle when the temperature reaches 41, which in my country is the ambient air temp.
I don't know if anybody else here has suffered this, but I've read several times when googling, that many XZP devices came with input lag out of the box. My device has always suffered with this, and flashing custom ROMs didn't seem to make a difference.
Input lag means that sometimes, keystrokes/touches are completely missed and sometimes scrolling misses too.
I unlocked my bootloader really early on, so I never wanted to send it back as I'm sure this voids my warranty.
I tested for a faulty digitizer using various screen input test apps from playstore, and they usually don't show any areas of the screen as faulty. This has always made me believe that it was most probably a software issue.
Today I discovered that yes indeed, my issue is definitely a software issue.
THE FIX:
Changing the screen resolution to 4k (3840x2160), and DPI to 821.
I've tried this before but never noted the difference in touch input. Perhaps because I wasn't looking for it.
Today I tried it again and much to my surprise, this time I noticed a HUGE improvement to input sensitivity and for now has 100% alleviated the problem. Typing, tapping and scrolling works perfect now.
This is most likely caused by the screen having to rescale pixels from 1080p to 2160p, making extra work for the CPU, but I'm no expert so I might be wrong. But it works for me.
I'll also note that I'm using Turbo ROM p75B now, and the input delay was still there until changing the resolution.
I'd like it if somebody who has suffered the same issue could provide feedback, I really hope this helps you too, as this was the only real issue that have me buyers regret, and it now works wonderfully.

Luckily I haven't had this input lag issue. However, I do get input lag if I have stamina mode turned on, and set to battery time preferred.
Just so you know, you do know that you're only emulating 4k, right? The only way to set the display to 4k is on AOSP.

Yes I understand that it's only "emulating" 4k and that it's not native 4k. It also uses more battery, which would suggest higher CPU usage, which in part contradicts my theory about rescaling causing input lag.
Perhaps it is something to do with the "touch map" (I can't think of the term), the software/grid that maps out the touchable area to the digitizer, having to resize from 1080p to 2160p, making the grid inaccurate? But it wouldn't make sense as to why it only affects some devices.
Also, I do not have stamina mode enabled as it's almost pointless in today's phones. I believe limiting processing speed only makes process queus take longer to finish, which means that CPU takes longer to idle. It only saves a negligible amount of battery unless your phone screen is off for 80% of the day. Almost as pointless as closing applications and cleaning RAM, as your phone will just use more battery rebuilding caches and restarting processes.
In any case this has completely alleviated the issue for me, so I hope someone on Google ends up here and this may be a solution for them too.

There are some threads here that explain various methods to change the VM resolution and scaling. If you're unfamiliar with ADB, I suggest you read very carefully and take precautions, as setting the resolution wrong could make it really difficult to reverse the procedure and we currently don't have a way to make TWRP backups.
i noticed this too.. but i enabled glove mode and things sorted by it self..

Since the first time I tried to make a slow-motion video, I notice that the camera can't capture enought light, like it's always in the dark, but the regular photo/video works great.
The next day instead, one time when I open the camera app a toast appeared: "unknown error" and the camera wasn't open; in the second attempt instead it worked normally, even the slow motion video.
But sometimes, the 480fps video are "laggy", and sometimes not.
I'm pretty sure, at this point, that is a software problem. I already tried to delete the app's data, but nothing changed. Anyone have this problem too?
All high speed cameras ever made, especially stupid high framerate ones like 1000FPS+ (just gets worse the faster they get) needs bright light. You're not going to be shooting high framerate video on any device in dim lighting situations any time soon unfortunately.
Maybe turn on the improvement program data sharing if you want help with the errors, that would most likely be something the phone sends info to Oneplus about.
Already enabled. The bright problem in the slow-motion wasn't the low light itself, because I tried outdoor in the day, full of light. This disappeared after a while, but I can't replicate anymore. Have no idea.
