samsung galaxy s6 broken screen. Works fine on high brightness but flashes on lower. - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hey guys,
I have a problem. Yesterday i replaced the battery and the back and multitask button on my galaxy s6. I now have a problem. I had to remove the screen from the bezel. When i did this i saw a metal like film on both the bezel and the screen. After i saw this and replaced the other parts i put the phone back together. Everything worked exept for the screen.
The screen is acting quite weird. When its on high brightness everything is fine and the screen works without any problems. But when the screen is turned off or the brightness goes down the screen flashes white.
I was wondering if there was an easy way to fix this without having to completely replace the screen. If i need to replace the whole screen i will just get a new phone.
Hope you guys can help me.

[Q] Dead screen now dimmer with vertical lines / banding

Hello. The screen on my wife's S4G today suddenly started acting funny. First, it wouldn't display anything, but it seemed the phone was still functional. Then, with fiddling on my part, I got it working again, first fully and now in a sub-par way. The phone boots fine - and I actually unlocked the bootloader and rooted, and in the process went through a full reset, just to see if that would help anything - but the screen appears dimmer than before and there's vertical banding across most of it. The banding doesn't completely obscure the screen, but it looks bad. One other thing I notice, and this is reported in other places, is that there's backlight bleed in the lower left corner, even when you just insert the battery, and often on booting, there's a flash of pixelated "dust" across the screen, that's brightest in that corner and fades as it spreads out.
Anyway, TMI probably. Does this sound to anyone like a bad screen, bad connector, digitizer, or something else? I'm totally new to any of these kinds of issues, but would like to save the phone, if possible. TIA.

The bottom of the screen lights up with more strength

Hi all, about three months ago I replaced my phone's screen. Until recently I never noticed anything wrong with the OEM replacement. But earlier today I noticed that the bottom of the screen (where the nav buttons are) lights up with more strength than the rest of the screen... Is there any way to fix that or do I have to just let it be?
Also, since I don't know if the problem was there right from the moment I made the repair, I was wondering if this could be caused by software (let me explain).. I use an app called Screen Filter, that acts like a screen dimmer, but the thing is that it never dims the bottom of the screen because of some kit kat incompatibility (as like in the windows counterpart software (Dimmer) when a window is momentarily above other the dim goes off for that particular window, and the moment you finally select the window all the screen is dimmed for good). Could this Screen Filter app have caused damage on the bottom of the screen, consequence of always being not dimmed while the rest of the screen was?
Thanks in advance.
PD: Since I saw the problem I uninstalled the app as a precaution and tried to reboot and see if that made the trick, but unfortunately it didn't. Maybe the damage its already done.
Is it light bleed? Some LCD panels are plagued with it. I had a replacement N5 that just got sent back to Google that had horrible light bleed on the bottom of the screen. It could just be the panel you used and you never noticed it before. An app can't damage the screen like that, as LCD panels are not susceptible to burn in like OLED is.

Nexus 5 display multicolored dots and black screen

Hey guys,
my phone felt on the floor and the screen was broken. Unfortunatly also the display showed just colored dots. So I bought a display on ebay replaced it and it worked fine. After a few days the screen started to flicker and after one day the screen was completely stuck. It showed the same pattern (colored dots like on the TV) like it did before. I made a hard reset and it worked again. After a few days the same problem. Then i read that i should replace the USB Flex cable. I did it but still nothing is better.
As I said, when I make a hard reset it works for a few days/hours and then I end up with a colored or even completly black screen . The digitzier seems to work because it reacts to touch gestures. Also the phone itself works (gets messages etc.) while the screen makes the problems.
Could you help me out here or give me a hint what I could test to find out what I realy have to replace?
THX

Nexus 5 really weird screen problem

Hi,
I have this really weird stuff going on with my Nexus 5 screen. I cracked it a couple months ago and bought a legit replacement screen for it and installed it myself (glass, lcd and frame). I fixed it with good instructions and it worked properly for two months. However though, now when I take it out of a pocket and try to turn screen on, sometimes it just doesn't light up. It's still on and every button works but the screen doesn't turn on. I have to give it a light tap or two on the back in order to make it light up again. Same thing happens sometimes when I'm using the phone normally, the screen just goes black and goes on after tapping it couple of times. Otherwise the phone works normally like it did when I bought it two years ago and after running couple of tests with screen, everything seems to work from touch interface to the graphics card.
Tried looking it up, no results.
I've noticed that the front camera doesn't work for some reason (probably just broken) and the battery lasts in use only 2-4 hours which isn't that much of an issue since I'm looking for a new phone. I just want this one to last long enough till I buy a new one.
It comes up when tapping the screen or power button? It could be a power button issue.
The screen comes back on when tapping the screen or the back of the phone. The power button isn't the issue. The screen just goes black but nothing else happens. It doesn't turn off or go to sleep mode.
Strange issue. I've never experienced it and any problems I had were related to the power button.
Could it be a loose connection inside the phone? Maybe an issue related to the proximity sensor?
Thats actually what I've thought. I have checked the phone's insides twice and didn't see loose connections, and the problem feels like it's related to proximity sensor since the screen going black happens exactly same way that when calling someone or doing something else where proximity sensor shuts the screen. It's really weird though...
Huh, I took backplate off and unscrewed the motherboard cover and took everything apart and rebuilt it and now the problem is gone. Seems like there was just some bad connection somewhere.
Glad you got it to work without having to pay someone to fix it

Screen won't turn on at all after swaping mainboard - Any advice?

Hi all,
I had broken my phone's back cover and bent the middle frame too. So I bought a live demo version of S6 to use it as a donor. I swapped the mainboards over and only can here the noise it turns on and buttons light up, notification light come up but the screen stays black. So I swapped the mainboards back and with the demo mainboard the screen comes on as it should. Even I tried a third mainboard from a working phone the screen remains blank with that too.
Not even the charging logo would come on with different mainboard!
So I don't know what I could do with it!!!!
Any advice?
Thank you!
