Good call.

Quick Charge 3.0
Snapdragon 625 is capable of quick charge 3.0 but afaik from the kernel this feature is blocked/not implemented by xiaomi due to licensing cost for quick charge.
Now, with the source code being open, does that mean the there is a possibility that we can get quick charge 3.0 on custom kernel?

Phone is probably not suitable to handle that much power from QC 3.0.

What are you basing this on? the chipset supports it, so it sounds like you're pulling this assumption out of either thin air or your ass.
Can't wait for the ROMs, LOS14.1, to arrive soon!

Isn't the charging system part of the SoC package though? So all Snapdragon 625 devices will have the same charging system inside. The only thing that should be different in the Redmi 4 Prime from any other 625 device as far as charging goes is the battery.

For QC to work not only SOC, but charging connector, kernel and driver need to support that, as far as we know, no xiaomi kernel implement QC due to licensing problem with qualcomm, so dev need to implement them in custom kernel.
Take radon kernel for redmi note 3 pro as example, they only add QC support recently.

Yu Yureka Phones, similar to Idol 3 5.5?

Hi all,
While looking for a rom to flash on my Idol, I found one guy comparing the Idol 3 5.5 to the Yu Yureka Plus phones.
Seems they are similar.
http://www.gsmarena.com/yu_yureka_plus-7436.php
Maybe another device to follow-up and port from?

Dear lord, they are pretty much identical! O.O
I think that we won't need to do MUCH to port ROMs from the Yureka Plus.
Hopefully one of the two devs we have will try to mix something up. xD

I dont mean to be rude, but are you OK?
Exact same CPU,same clockspeed, same amount of RAM,same camera module.
The only possible difference(software-wise) can be the partition tables.

I over-exaggerated.
I never thought they were identical, but at least in the past, same CPU,camera and RAM were things needed in order to port a rom to another device, other things would be patched up.
I think it would be much easier to try porting a rom for that device and patch some things up than making a rom out of scratch with only 3 devs working for the Idol 3.

I didn't want to be rude at all, may be the message was misleading.
When I compare identical phone, I think in terms of whether the rom of one phone can be used, after some tweaks, in another phone that you are comparing.
Otherwise, many phones share some level commonless.
Eg. Umi Emax mini and idol 3 5.5 are quite similar except screen size. Look at their rom... they are nearly identical

It seems that Android N won't come to Honor 6 and 6 plus. Is it true ?

Since Honor 6 and 6 plus are running on Kirin 920, 925 which doesn't support Vulcan API, it seems that it can't be updated to Nougat.
Will Honor provide it by any alternate means, if any?
Got it from Wiki that Kirin 920 and 925 won't support Vulcan API. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vulkan_(API)
most probably it wont get as the gpu fails to be compatible with vulkan
I don't think so
Personally,I think google must remove vulcan api as requirement for update. Its like:
''Your phone has the power to handle the next at least 3 android versions, but since your gpu doesnt support vulcan api, which practically has nothing to do with running the os,fock off.''
I also think that 2 versions forward update thing should be broken,I mean we have ultra fast device with 3gb ram,it just doesnt make sense to get stuck on marshmallow, when some phones which are much weaker than our will get nougat.I even got the phone in the end of july...
Meanwhile apple bricking iphone 5 with ios 10.

Yes indeed. The 2014 generation flagships finished the progress that the 2013 ones started, what I mean is that they are still running on almost full speed as on their launch, older flagships(galaxy s3 is a perfect example) started to get pretty laggy at some point. If vulcan api is the thing that stopped the breaking of the 2 versions forward update scheme,I hope that at least the 2015 gen ones will do it when android 8 comes out.

We can't do anything for betrayal by OEM.. But in this case, OEM do think to provide updates. Due to google restriction, they were unable to.

Verdict about MiA2 Lite.

Hello! I have been using A2 Lite for about six months now. I liked Mi phones. But I think A2 Lite is not up to mark as per the price charged. Especially, Android One experience. It lacks lots of features as compared to other MI phones in this range running on MIUI.
What are your thoughts on this?

Redmi 5A and Note 4, both have Dt2w, and they both run MIUI.
I bought this phone specifically because it didn't have MIUI on it.
Stock Android, unlockable bootloader. It's the first phone I've had that gets security updates too.
I've had it for a few months now and I still love it.
MIUI suck, give so many features that u might never use.
Those features consume CPU and battery, while stock Android has lesser feature but any feature you want you can just get them from PlayStore.
My last Xiaomi phone (Mi 4i), became super laggy until cannot unlock the screen.
Turn out it was MIUI fault because it became normal again after I flashed it with custom ROM.
From my point of view it's the perfect Android terminal.
I only miss one feature from MIUI : Scheduled turn on and off :crying:

Try flight mode, almost zero consumption. -+1%/night
This phone absolutely lives up to its price point of the $159 I purchased two of them at. Great screen, great battery life, decent processor that can handle mostly everything except high end gaming, metal body, 2 of 3 American LTE bands for T-Mobile, FM radio, IR blaster, security updates monthly with Android One. MIUI is a dumpster fire and if you wanted MIUI you should've bought a Redmi.
It's a great phone.
I'm still wondering why so many people who prefer MIUI over stock android bought the A2 Lite instead of the Redmi 6 Pro which is even cheaper. Personally, I wouldn't even touch a MIUI phone with a pair of pliers.

I bought this smartphone right after it was available version 4/64. Question Possible similar device to Neo 3T (rmx3371) ?

Hi,
My colleague want to buy the neo 3T and interested to try installing custom rom. I don't see the Neo 3T section in XDA and I find Neo 2 and Neo 3T are shared similar specs with very minor differences in camera sensor and charging speed.
I'm wondering if all unlock process downright to custom kernel and roms are compatible to each other, does anyone can shed some lights?
i have same question
+1 attention
I have Neo 3T and looking for answer too ;-)
but you will never get an answer because there is no one here...
Some devs post their roms but never answer questions...
Although they are almost identical in terms of spec, the kernel/IO driver that runs from respective motherboard might be different. Let's say in terms of the battery charging control for both. The kernel will control this component and it is the way it differentiates both models. Even if you succeed on flashing the rom, some component on the software or hardware might crash and cannot work properly.

Perhaps those other phones simply don't have developers to volunteer their time. I am eventually lumbering my way towards ROM development and am interested in the hardware of the 13.
Coming from a Snapdragon 870 (Poco F3, still solid) that has a host of other custom ROMs for me to practice with.

Xiaomi Shows No Interest in Releasing Kernel Source Code of its Devices
Xiaomi is having a good time in all the smartphone markets over the world releasing numerous devices. It is popular for producing budget-friendly phones. It has a great user base in the Indian marketā€¦
www.thecustomdroid.com
but
newer platforms all use GKI, which means it's identical between devices, even if the SoC vendors are different.
Not sure that they are obliged to release source codes for vendor kernel modules, those are proprietary.

One of the main advantages, not to mention the additional settings, is that you can use an Android version that is no longer provided by Xiaomi.
