Failed attempt to downgrade from B330 to B211:
Model: L29C636B330
- Got to eRecovery, but wifi can't find anything
- put B330 on SD card dload but 3-button reset only bring me to a EMUI menu with Reboot, Wipe data and Wipe Cache options. Cache wipe could finish (seemingly), wipe data would quit midway, sometimes in a couple of seconds, sometime longer. EMUI logo turns to red exclamation mark
- fastboot works... however, phone is locked (I suppose that means bootloader locked?) therefore, fastboot flash is not working. adb push file - device not responding.
This phone is all stock with no prior rooting/bootloader unlock. Except for using FF to get to B330 - to be fair, B330 worked fine.
I did not bother to get the paid unlock code (should I?), as from I what I read, it probably won't oem unlock because I did not have the dev option enabled prior, and I can't seem to wipe the device either.
Pardon my repost while this thread is still fresh... https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3563299 because I have not messed with 3rd party tools yet and I want to make sure people can respond to my case specifically. Though it is worth noting perhaps that this could be caused by B330?

Thanks. But nope. I am already in brick mode. The 3-button reset did not seem to pick up this rollback package in the SD dload folder and showed the aforementioned wipe data menu instead.

No. Because DC-Unlock seems to assume access to phone and enable USB port for "manufacturer mode". My phone is in bricked as described in my original post. I guess my only options are to see if Huawei will give me the key still or RMA the sucker?

Since you are still in bootloader locked. You might try to ask huawei service center to make your phone functional again. That if you bought your phone at your region. Or else request bootloader code via huawei website.

What code Read my original post. I had no intention to mess with custom OS so I never unlocked my bootloader. For the record, I used to build my own kernel and mess with custom OSs all year long, but as Android matures I don't see much of that need anymore.
You do have a point though, I trusted Huawei too much. Should have obtained the code ahead of time regardless.

For an easy way to unlock & root your X2 here are the steps you need to take. This has been requested by a number of you so here it goes:
1) Unlock your bootloader. There are three steps you can take. The first two are free. The third method requires you to pay a few dollars but it works and is the fastest way. I would highly recommended this method. This is confirmed working on all models.
Option 1: Send an email to [email protected] Email them the following. They usually email you back and tell you to do option 2 or never email you back:
Hello. I keep getting an error when trying to unlock my phone on the unlock page.
Model: GEM-703L (Or whatever model you have)
Serial: Put in your phones serial number here. (You get this in About phone, Status)
IMEI: Put in your phones IMEI number here. (You get this in About phone, Status, it's IMEI1)
Product ID: (Go into your phone dialer and dial *#*#1357946#*#* and it will give you your Product ID)
Thank you for your help
(Your name here)
Option 2: Make a Huawei ID on your phone and stay signed in for 14 days and then go online to unlock your bootloader and it should work on the website.
Option 3: If you want to unlock your phone immediately and don't mind paying a few dollars this is the best and easiest way. Thanks to kpcheang2 for the original information. Visit here:
https://www.dc-unlocker.com/how-to-read-huawei-bootloader-unlock-code
- Download the DC Unlocker Software
- On their site buy 4 credits. https://www.dc-unlocker.com/buy I used PayPal. It cost me around $4.38 USD.
- Follow the instructions in their tutorial. Make sure you put the phone in Manufacture Mode. Choose "Read Bootloader Code" in DC-Unlocker to get your bootloader code.
- Put your phone in bootloader mode (plug into the computer and hold in power and volume down with the phone off) and do a fastboot oem unlock xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx where x is your bootloader unlock code the DC Unlocker program gave you.
2) Download TWRP recovery from here if you're already on Android 5.1.1
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=529152257862716585
2b) Download this TWRP if you're on Android 5.0 (Now in English!)
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=457095661767151055
Put your phone into Bootloader Mode and fastboot flash the TWRP recovery file you downloaded. (extract the img file from the rar file first) I'm not gonna go over how to use Fastboot here as there are many guides on many different websites on how to use it. Then do a fastboot reboot. When your phone reboots shut it back down and then hold in volume up and power until it turns on and keep holding in volume up until the phone boots into TWRP recovery.
3) Root your phone.
In TWRP flash SuperSU:
After flashing, reboot your phone and you will be rooted. If you want to manually upgrade to a specific Huawei build or flash back to stock, flash one of my modded Kangvip ROMS or visit bark1234's or eenapps thread for the downloads and instructions. Thanks to bark1234 and eennap for their threads and downloads.
Still nothing
So I've been trying to root since I was able to unlock my bootloader, which I was able to do from the website method.
I could not get adb to work with the other method listed on here.
Now with fastboot, my device is identified per the fastboot devices
I am able to run command fastboot flash recovery twrp_cn.img and it looks successful
so I restart and shut down
hold vol up and power and it vibrates and restarts and vibrates and restarts.....
I go back and flash the default recovey and am able to access this with the vol up and power, but cannot get to the twrp recovery. I have tried flashing a couple of versions and no custom recovery can I boot to.
Any help would be appreciated.

What model are you using? Also, what are you on, B106? When you boot into TWRP, I'm sure you already know this but make sure there is no cable plugged into the phone. Mine vibrates once after installing TWRP but I remain holding in volume up and it boots into TWRP the second time.

I don't know why they aren't responding to you. I'm starting to worry that when my new X2 comes (I ordered a second one) they won't respond to me either. I'm sure there will be a workaround.
I've been e-mailing them for almost two months and I haven't received one reply from them. I have the 703L and I've tried their website over and over with Google Translate's help. I always get the same error about the log books not being older than 14 days. I just can't get anywhere with Huawei and it's super frustrating that they don't support the U.S. that well.
What I did
Just signed up for the huawei cloud service. And after 14 days I was able to get the unlock code. Worked first time after trying the email way and waiting.

I went to this page with chrome http://www.emui.com/plugin.php?id=unlock&mod=detail and let it translate for me. It took mrme to a login page and I bit the bullet and signed up. 14 days later I got my unlock code from the same page.

Does anyone know if these instructions would work on the Mediapad M2? They both use the same SoC and the display resolution is the same, though the M2 is 8" and the X2 is 7". The M2 ships with Lollipop 5.1 instead of 5.0, but I don't know if that makes any difference here.

Power of the phone. Now press power button and volume down simultaneously. It will boot to erecovery then select the first option.
You're missing a data_hw_XX.zip package for your region. Not a big deal. It happened to me when I didn't understand how to flash software to our phone and once when updating through FirmwareFinder. you have many options:
factory reset again (which may not solve tthe issue)
or
unlock bootloader> install twrp> install any 3rd party keyboards zip (search in the xda, you might get any)
or
try to connect your phone to pc and check if adb is working, if yes, follow the procedure:
1. download any 3rd party keyboard app and rename it as keyboard.apk and place it inside sdktools folder
2.open command window and type the following command
Code:
adb install keyboard.apk
now reboot your phone and try , you might have your keyboard
(ask me if you have any doubt regarding this procedure)
or
you can even do a complete firmware flash of update.app through dload method (easiestt of all the above methods, but you will lose all the data inside your internal storage)
I solved, i reinstalled b131 firmware and keyboard appears, i bypassed google verification and i make the updates, now it s working good, thx all.

I'm hoping someone will advise me. My Honor 8 FRD-L04 is soft bricked. I did or tried to do a factory reset, had originally TWRP, the bootloader is in Relocked status, not unlocked like I want it, I did the dload process with the only thing that would load which was the Rollback from Huawei, now I can't input information on the setup screens because all I get is the stupid Google Voice. PLEASE HELP ME.
UPDATE: Never mind I fixed it. I'm not really for sure how either but I think it mainly was just persistence.
Hello all... Was following the guide here to rebrand my mate 9 using HWOTA8 method as I was already on Android 8. However got to an issue on step e where now under fsstboot it shows phone locked and shows FRP locked.
This happened after flashing the different OEMinfo.bin which now my device is a different model. Was Chinese model mha-alc00.
Is the anyway to flash my original OEMinfo.bin file without having TWRP?
Can you boot phone to system?
Yes, I can.
Then just go to Settings -> About -> tap Build number a few times until the Developer toast appears. Go back, tap on Developer options.
Enable OEM unlocking.
Boot to fastboot (FRP should now be unlocked), unlock bootloader again then continue.
Unfortunately, I have tried that but OEM unlocking is greyed out and says underneath it connect to the internet or contact your carrier.
And since the OEM unlocking is greyed out, it won't accept the fastboot relock command with my unlock code to lock the bootloader or even unlock it again.
Could i use the FF method on my PC with hisuite to download and revert back to stock? I tried it with FF on my phone and doing in the app but it always fails in recovery at like 6% when trying to authenticate. I'm guessing that has to do with the fact that the oreo version is still an online-update and not offline-update under the package.img.
Would the offline dload file of the mha-al00 work and it would revert me to Nougat? Or would that just mess it up?
Or anyway to spoof the region on my phone and maybe erecovery would work to download and restore over wifi?
Did you connect to WIFI/mobile? Mine was clickable after connecting to wifi. Didn't even add google account.
Yep, I have. Made no difference. I even tried to disable the find my device services and reboot but no change. Also even went as far as signing in with my google account and remote factory resetting it to see. No change, unfortunately.
Did you try a factory reset?
I don't think dload AL00 will work as oeminfo.bin is not AL00 now.
To what cust were you going to rebrand to?
I tried the factory reset from recovery and inside the settings. No change at all, unfortunately.
I also tried the one after dialing the code in the dialer but that one fails.
I believe I'm screwed, as I was trying to rebrand to c567 (US) and since I see there is no service ROM (offline) for that one. Ugh....FML
Although my baseband version seems to be the same and not changed. Don't know if that helps or anything.
Yeah dload didn't work. Just failed at 5%.
I guess if I want to properly fix this I have to use funkyhuawei to rebrand or dc-unlocker maybe to repair/change the vendor/model, etc? I would obviously rather not resort to paying methods but if I needed to. However, all of the main functions still work so its' not like I'm stuck, until updates don't come out for it.
I have as some problem here, did you solve the problem?
Hey guys I have honor 6x BLN-L21C185 , with BLN-L21C185B361 version , i tried to update my phone via Firmware Finder program and downloaded the version BLN-L21C185B379 , i downloaded uncompleted version but the update failed , and then when i restart the phone show me this message " your device has failed verification and may not work properly" but when i press the power button the phone restarts without any problems and works perfectly.
Is there a solution for this message ? and is there any harm from this message ? and whether a new update came to my phone is it will receive the update* via ota or not ?

That screen is a NAG screen, a popup screen during boot that shows up when your device have an unlocked bootloader, but you have nothing to worry. It doesn't mean nothing if not that you're phone is now unlocked. This suggests that when you did the update through Firmware Finder, you've accidentally unlocked the bootloader too.
Actually the NAG screen isn't removable; to make it disappear, you'll need to relock the bootloader. To do this, you need to obtain your code to relock the bootloader with the use of it. To obtain the code, follow steps listed here https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-6x/how-to/how-to-unlock-bootloader-honor-6x-t3535321 and when you'll have the code, type in ADB "fastboot oem relock *your 16 digits code*". Be careful - this process will your erase all your phone data as a factory reset, so you want to take a copy of everything you could need.
Or, you could dload a firmware through 3 hardware buttons to automatically relock the bootloader.

Thank you very much for your interaction with me :good:
So you got the Edge S and want GApps? Basically you unlock your bootloader, root with Magisk, then install MagiskGApps.
DISCLAIMER: UNLOCKING YOUR BOOTLOADER MAY VOID YOUR WARRANTY, AND DOING ALL THESE THINGS IN THIS GUIDE MAY RESULT IN DAMAGE/BRICKING YOUR PHONE. I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYTHING YOU DO TO YOUR PHONE. PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK.
1. Unlock the bootloader: that should be doable with their global bootloader unlock website here.
2. Download Lenovo Motoroa Smart Assistant (Rescue and Smart Assistant), and follow its instructions to "rescue" your device. It will lead you to boot into bootloader mode and download the firmware. Find the firmware file via the LMSA's downloads (should have a "show folder" button). You'll need the boot.img file for Magisk.
3. Download Magisk, then follow its instructions. You'll have to copy the boot.img to your device, then use Magisk to patch the boot file, then copy the modified one to your PC.
4. You'll need fastboot. If you don't have it already, you can download the Android SDK platform tools here. Then go into the folder, Shift+Right Click the folder, then "Open Command Prompt" or "Open PowerShell," you should have something close to one of those two. Copy your Magisk modified .img file to that folder, then you'll want to input:
fastboot flash boot [modified .img file]
Once that completes, you should see in large text, "Start" on your phone next to the power button. Press the power button, and it should boot, and you should have root now.
5. Download MagiskGApps to your phone, open Magisk on your phone, click the button that looks like a puzzle piece at the bottom of the screen, "Modules." Click "Install from storage," locate the MagiskGApps file, and install it. After that it will ask you to restart your phone, do that, then you'll just have to be patient as it takes time once its restarted to load everything. You also may need to update some or all of the apps, then you should be able to use the notification to finish setting up the phone with Google Setup.
Thanks to Motorola for making it easy to unlock their bootloaders
Thanks to the whole Magisk team for making an easy, awesome root (and more!)
Thanks to Wacko1805 (and team?) for making MagiskGApps. This is really awesome.

Magisk has a "Magisk Hide" which will allow it to pass SafetyNet, and most things which check on device security will think the device is secure. But unlocking BL and rooting does make the device less secure, and therefore incurs its own risks apart from bricking or damaging the device.

Google Pay works. But according to the Motorola website you should be able to relock the bootloader if yours doesn't work. But there's never any guarantee. If you need your device secure, recommend don't unlock bl or root, or wait to see if there's a root option without bootloader unlock that can be easily undone.

That's not good. Hopefully they can restore it back somehow. With this guide to unlock and flash gapps why would you need to flash G100 though? This seems to be itright now without one of rom developer's releases to get root & apps. For me this is all i would look for. Titanium backup on it and restore.. done until PE rom comes out.

I would think yes, if you flash different firmware, locking the BL would likely cause problems. It's very difficult to do anything w/o unlocked bootloader, except sometimes rooting is doable. That's pretty much the behavior I expect. If they come to this subforum, we might be able to help.

thank you. They did not ask for help. It seems that the lock BL is a self-verification switch, and then performs a verification system integrity.

I would think yes, if you flash different firmware, locking the BL would likely cause problems. It's very difficult to do anything w/o unlocked bootloader, except sometimes rooting is doable. That's pretty much the behavior I expect. If they come to this subforum, we might be able to help.

I'm curious,If you unlock and flash other firmware and then flash back to the original firmware, can it be locked again?
Mine doesn't let me unlock its BL. I've got unlock code from moto and did a factory reset with SIM card in slot 1. After enabling developer mode and debugging the switch still is greyed out. So no chance to unlock it.
Has anyone got an idea what to try now?
Moto support answered yesterday to my request but also no solution since I told them that it doesn't work
Device is not branded. I got it from Amazon so no provider branding.
If this won't be able to be unlocked and rooted I'll have to return it and switch to a Google Pixel.

I had the same issue, you need to factory reset WITH your sim card in the phone, this will let you open the OEM unlock slide thing in the dev mode.
Then once its done you can fastboot and unlock the bootloader.
I did so, maybe I explained not so well. SIM was inserted and then I did factory reset by starting it from settings. After restart it's still the same - switch / unlock slider greyed out.

On my OG Pixel XL, I had to wait 7 days for the slider to become normal. By the time I got around to do it on the Edge S it was about the same time.... could be related
Now as you said that I remember that thingy with another device. Maybe a Xiaomi I think... With that I had to wait several days until the unlock code was delivered.
But there was a message, too, when trying to get it sooner, which said you needed to wait some more time.
Not sure if it's the the same for Moto devices? Then again, when thinking that you experienced the same with a Pixel, too...
Did anyone else make such an experience with his/her g100?

Make sure your on the latest OTA, Lenovo made a mistake on previous versions with the OEM Unlocking function not being enabled. They fixed it in latest ota.
RSA tool said the file I uploaded yesterday is the latest one available (and it's exactly the same as the installed version).
The device was released just a few days ago in Europe. Perhaps they fixed the unlock switch in other regions and still need to fix it in Europe..
Will wait until weekend if they come up with a solution. If not I'm afraid I have to return the device as I need it personally AND professionally, too - I'm field agent, so.... :/

The poor guy whose phone turned bricks went to the after-sales department of moto, and the answer was that he needed to replace the phone motherboard. .

I would assume so, but I don't really know why anyone would want to relock.
