How can I opt out of beta and flash regular 7.1.1. I can't simply flash the image because I have a locked bootloader. Thanks.
Edit: I looked on the website for the beta and if I unenroll I will be sent an ota that will wipe data and return to the latest public release.
Question 1: If I am on the beta program will I still receive a public release or will it always be a beta version?
Question 2: What if I unenroll when I get upgraded to a public release, will I still have to wipe data?

No update or fastboot image is going to lock your bootloader, so no matter what you do, you're safe.
Just never use the "Fastboot oem lock" command or you'll be stuck.

1. You will get an uldate that will put you on the regular public 7.1.2 when it comes out It will not wipe your data.
2. Once you get it, you are no longer on beta, you are mainstream. So there is nothing ro unenroll from and you will not be able ro go back.
Can i ask. I'm on the beta on my pixel and it hasn't given me no security updates since 5th of January is everyone who's on the beta stuck on that update?? Just wondering. I have factory wiped straight after i got enrolled into the beta update just to let you know. Thanks.

I have a Verizon Pixel that is bootloader locked and I have unenrolled from the beta and I'm not receiving the OTA to go back to N. I've tried re-enroll and unenroll, also downloading one of the OTA and flash through adb sideload but it says the version I'm using is to new.
Any thoughts?
I think you have to flash back manually
after unenrolling, i just went to settings, system, updates and it was ready to download the stock android n ota

Seconded. I've been unenrolled since Friday and still haven't gotten the OTA for N.
I've been unenrolled since maybe Wednesday night of last week with a locked Verizon Bootloader. No OTA update back to Android N so I am going to download the flash image at https://developers.google.com/android/images.
Battery life on the beta has been abysmal.

That's not going to work. You have to wait it out. It's why I didn't enroll although I did on my unlocked 5x.
Drat, thanks for the heads up, this bites.
I just had a quick chat with Google Support, they are telling me that 'there is an issue with receiving the OTA back to N from the O beta, and that they are working on a fix'.
Sorry, I was busy, but for me it was instantly, right after I unenrolled.
This morning I went to the beta signup, enrolled my device again and unenrolled it, was asked to install Nougat within a minute.

Has anyone else had a problem with this webpage. I've been trying to download the factory image and/or the OTA image. When I click on "Acknowledge" button, it doesn't do anything.
Run it in incognito mode or turn off script blockers
Good day folks, I have entered the beta program last month but I decided to leave the program. As per instructions from Huawei i should log out from available projects in the Beta app, however, this option is not available. Any other way to leave the beta program and revert back to my previous firmware?
Thank you.

Yes. But still no update.
Just got the notification!
Android 9.0 - Beta 3
PPR1.180610.066
Don't notice anything new so far. It looks like the font may be slightly different, and the kernel has been updated. Still no notch settings, and the lag that happens still exists.
Sorry to be thick but do a have too sidload or flash or is it OTA?
I have no updates...

This was the actual ota, pushed directly to the phone.
Package was released when you posted. I thought you just flashed it through fastboot.

The Beta 4 update killed my WIFI reception on my Essential phone. YMMV
hello together.
I`m on the beta 3 with unlocked bootloader.
When I try to install the update ota on the phone I get a installation error.
What could be the problem? Do I have to lock the bootloader to be able to install updates ota?
I know that I can sideload the ota update via fastboot but would like to be able to get ota updates directly on the phone.

Yes, as was mine. I always flash them through fastboot, I'm rooted and even when I wasn't I had issues with the latest radio not applying, OTA failing even though I unrooted etc. That's why in the post I said I just received the notification.

New PH-1 owner here, well new to me but mint from someone else lol. Woke up with the OTA update flag. Unlocked bootloader and unlocked critical. Quick download and restart and it's good to go... No chance to play with anything or poke around yet though

Same here. I flashed the latest stable Oreo 8.1 then flashed P beta. It fixed the problem.
What's the best way to flash the fastboot files without wipe? Can I edit out the wipe command in the bat file?

If you're looking to update the build, you can just flash the OTA from the Essential site in TWRP.

Data reset solved the problem.
I also flash the .img myself, didnt get any error while flashing.
Anyway thanks your reply
Has anyone else given it a go on this phone yet? So far I think its working pretty well, with only a couple slowdowns.
Has anyone else noticed a bit of a slowdown with wifi? Sometimes I have to kick it over to LTE to login to apps, even though I can run speed tests and things.
Just wanted to see what other people were experiencing with the beta, sorry if this the wrong place for this.
Other than poor "stand by" battery drainage for me, I think it works pretty good.
But, Android Q it's not on Pixel 3A, isn't it?

Not via OTA, you can pick up the system image from the website and flash it manually though.
As to the OP, I gave it a shot for a couple days but I kept getting a bug where I'd unlock the phone and just get a black screen so I got frustrated and flashed back lol I hope the OTA thats supposedly coming next month fixes it up so it could be a daily driver.
Thanks antp121
I tried to find from official website the Android Q image for Pixel 3A and flash it via sideload or similar.
Can you help me how to do?

I've actually been getting the same thing. I also keep having an issue with wifi, I think I'm going go back to pie and see if it's still doing it. I just really like the new gestures and don't wanna give them up lol
I've been running it for a few weeks. Side loaded the OTA as soon as I got the phone. They took down the OTA file but it's posted in this thread. I've had no issues other than a few apps not being comparable yet and there is no working Magisk out for Pixels 3/3a with Q beta.

On a related note, does anyone know if opting out of the Beta will delete any esim profiles?

Simply "opting out" of the beta by pressing the button on the web page will not change anything. But as soon as you (download and) install Pie, my guess is that it will erase everything including any esim profiles. When you go from one major release to another - especially a downgrade - the phone is typically going to be wiped completely. It purposefully erases all information to ensure there isn't any conflicts between the two OS versions.
Just enrolled in the beta myself, does anyone know if it is being pushed OTA yet?

So far I'm having no issues with the beta, but did anyone else get a small update today? Any idea why?
I am currently rocking the Open Beta 2, I wanted to manually update to the latest stable version of Android Q (not open beta), but I get a message saying that I'll lose all my files (factory reset) which I don't want.
will there be stable OTA for open beta users... Should I wait? Or eventually I'll have to flash it manually and lose my data? :crying:
Thanks!
sorry for my nooby questions.

When the beta was out I remember people saying in the thread that OTA to stable would be available but I have since learnt that OnePlus never push OTA to stable for beta testers, if it is true it is a shame and a strange decision because less people would testa beta and find errors.
Looking at the help text for oxygen updater it seems like they also mention factory reset
It's always been the case that if you test betas you have to wipe for stable installation. Nothing new. That's just the way it goes

Everyone is not keen or have the need to unlock the bootloader and flash a custom recovery... Doing that now would anyway still mean that you have to wipe the phone.
