Back Button - Google Pixel Questions & Answers

Hello, have a Google pixel XL rooted. I would like to ask if there is any way/mod for getting the back button to kill the app I'm in and return to the home screen. This was available as a mod in my last phone, LG G3 and I loved it. Thanks

Custom ROMs have that feature, I believe PureNexus does.

I would like to stay on stock if at all possible. That's why I was wondering if there was a mod or something.

Would using the escape key code instead of the back key code work?
You can try flashing this. I'm not sure it will work on an XL

Does that give functionality of long pressing the back key to kill the app I'm in?

No, long pressing doesn't do anything.

did you use auto remove bloatware tool?

Capacitive button remapping.

Hi all,
I'm new the the OPO having just left the Nexus line after a long time.
I'd love to use the capacitive buttons but really hate how they're opposite to the Android guidelines. Is it possible to remap them so they're the same as the Android on screen ones?
TIA.

Looks like there is a way!

Ah but it requires root :/
Root, and unlock bootloader and Install the latest Oct. 21st verion of SLIMKat and be over it.
You have so much customizations under a super clean and LIGHT ROM. In fact, most of what Android Lolipop is coming out with has ALREADY been out on custom roms ages ago.
Think of it as Google finally taking ideas from the development community.

Yeah, of course it does, that's to be expected with such a modification.

I fail to see the problem with root since in your sig it says you are testing ROMS and kernels ...

Bro, theres hardly any adblocker(ad free is what I use) that doesnt need root. Are you telling me you're letting all kinds of tracking scripts/cookies, youtube ads, animated epilepsy inducing garbage steal your time/cpu/battery/data bandwidth?
GET on that root train right now. This goes for everyone.

I need to update that. Went back to stock because of battery life. Its difficult to keep it updated when you don't own a PC.

Stable rooted ROMS for 955U

Hey guys
Just rooted my S8+ 955U, however there seems no custom ROM available for my variant, there are a bunch for 955F and others, but those should not work with mine right?
Any ideas? Thanks
No they run on a different processor than ours also we have locked bootloader
Since I rooted device is very unstable, I might get back to stock firmware, can not see any positive thing after rooting. Do you?
Same issue here, my main problem is the battery...

Since there is still no unlock for bootloader you can't flash custom roms.

That color is not available on the regular pixel 2, but you can always exchange for a restocking fee

Edit: I've got the phone now and turned on AoD. It consumes very little, maybe 1% an hour, way less than Always On App found on playstore, which drained 4-6% an hour.
How much battery does the AoD consume?
