Nougat - how to set up shortcuts in Settings like was in Marshmallow? - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

In the ordinary Settings menu (gear icon) how to make shortcuts like the were in Marshamallow? For exmaple in this menu you have groups like "Connections", "Sound and vibration", "Notifications" etc. I would like to have on top of that my chosen preffered shortcuts to settings like Accounts, Battery, Language an input. On top of the list, not somewhere inside groups. On stock firmware.

well, any luck with this?

Yea, flash Marshmallow again, it's gone in Nougat

In Settings, above Wireless and Networks should be a blank area with Edit.

how do you change android's black background?

Does anyone know how to change to black background in Android Aosp (cyanogen)? I.e messaging, settings, contacts etc.
Thanks
In the messaging app, hit menu, settings, and uncheck black background. You will need to back out of the messaging app, and go back into it for the changes to take effect. This does nothing for the settings menu, or the contacts app.

Where can I see the default settings of my phone?

Hello,
Where can I see the default settings of my phone? And where to see the defaults of pull down bar (swipe down from top and the buttons to on/off items will appear)?
I mean I wish to see what are the defaults, is there a list somewhere?
I am using Samsung Galaxy S4.
For example defaults:
My device>Display>Auto-rotate screen is ticked.
My device>LED indicator>Charging is ticked.
Pull down bar (swipe down from top), Sync is selected.
The problem is a kid played with my phone for a few hours, and I did not know what settings he changed. I am not sure what are the defaults too, some settings might have been turn off/on by him.
Thanks

Notification Pop Up Application.

Being Quick settings accessible from the bottom only, a lot of applications are not able to access notification area , like "popup notification app" is unable to give "pop up notification" at all. Any suggestions or help..

Settings > Notification center > Notice management > (App) > Set to important notice
I just watched review on Phone Dog and his phone has regular android quick setting bar on top. Was it different in review models and they changed it afterwards ?
Actually other reviews have it that way as well. Is there a way to enable that ?

Question Need help with floating window

People, I switched to miui with emui and was already tortured with these settings.
Tell me how to disable these window overlays in notifications?
There is no such problem with WhatsApp, but with standard messages and Telegram.
Is it some kind of broken floating window or something?
They seem to look different - with rounded corners.
And here is some kind of crap in the form of a floating shortcut that can be expanded by a third of the screen.
And this is a square mini window with a human face. Very annoying.
Video link:
In settings, go in "Notifications & Control Center", "Notification shade", and chose Android instead of MIUI.
As well, for disabling the "pop up" windows, go in the notification settings of the app and disable "Floating Notifications"

Even this seems to not work for the Google Android Messages app, disabled the floating notifications for the app and set the shade to Android instead of MIUI but still no luck.

Question Two quicky S22U questions

Hi -
How do I set a custom notification tone on an application (specifically, Google Messages)? I haven't found a way to do that yet, and I have pressed just about every button on the screen.
How do I permanently disable 5G connectivity? The battery draining impacts far outweigh the very minimal benefits of 5G, so I don't think we will ever want to use 5G.
Thanks!
For custom notification sounds you have to put them inside a certain folder, in the "My Files" app search for notifications and copy them into that folder. After that, you have to trawl though the app settings menu, usually I long press the app and select the "i" at the top right - using the Discord app as an example - from there go to Notifications > Notification Categories > Direct Messages (as an example) > Sound and select the one you want.
Uploaded 2 screenshots to show it in action.
Settings > Connections > Mobile Networks > Network Mode, set to 4G

Thanks, @Sonic Steven!
That helped. I was able to set the Google Messages "Incoming Message" Notification Category to my custom sound. (BTW ... If there is another "Incoming Message" Notification Category for another application, will it also play my custom sound? Or, is this setting specific to each application?)
For disabling the 5G network, not as much luck. There wasn't any 4G or 5G settings visible in my AT&T Mobile Network settings. I may try removing my SIM card to see if something shows up.
I believe it is per app basis
If there's no option under the connection settings then I assume you would need to use something like the Samsung Band Selection app
Actually, I just found a better route than the Samsung Band Selection App:
This method exposes the hidden preferred Mobile Data Selector that's already in the phone.
Since we already were using Nova Launcher, this solution was a no-brainer (well, after someone else's brain had figured it out).
No additional software required for us.
