how do you change android's black background? - EVO 4G Themes and Apps

Does anyone know how to change to black background in Android Aosp (cyanogen)? I.e messaging, settings, contacts etc.
Thanks

In the messaging app, hit menu, settings, and uncheck black background. You will need to back out of the messaging app, and go back into it for the changes to take effect. This does nothing for the settings menu, or the contacts app.

Turning off handcent taskbar notifications

Does anyone know how to turn these off? I remember reading the advice on how to do this, and now I can't find it.
I get the audio notification, but then, I have to go and drag down on the toolbar to show notifications and then tap the one for the latest sms, even if I've already answered it.
I'd like to know how to NOT have toolbar (taskbar?) notifications trigger with every sms.
I think going into the app, menu, settings, notification settings, and checking "privacy mode" will get you what you want...

[Q] Text Messaging automatically deleting?

Does anyone know why all my text messages will get automatically deleted from time to time? It happened using the stock text app so I downloaded Handcent and It just now happened to me again? Is there a certain setting I can change or anything like that?
Handcent and the stock sms messenger work hand in hand. Handcent has a setting to disable the stock and all other 3rd party messengers but I have found it not to work. So with that in mind any text you get in handcent you will also get in the stock app. So the same holds true. If you delete a message in the stock app then it will also delete in handcent.
Now go to your stock messages app. Hit the menu button and select "settings". Select "general". Under "storage settings" you most likely have "Delete old messages" checked. Just uncheck it and you should be good to go.

Nougat - how to set up shortcuts in Settings like was in Marshmallow?

In the ordinary Settings menu (gear icon) how to make shortcuts like the were in Marshamallow? For exmaple in this menu you have groups like "Connections", "Sound and vibration", "Notifications" etc. I would like to have on top of that my chosen preffered shortcuts to settings like Accounts, Battery, Language an input. On top of the list, not somewhere inside groups. On stock firmware.
well, any luck with this?
Yea, flash Marshmallow again, it's gone in Nougat

In Settings, above Wireless and Networks should be a blank area with Edit.

Custom text tones per contact?

I can't find a way to setup a unique text notification sound for individual contacts.
In the contacts app, I see an option for Ringtone but nothing for texts.
Is this simply not possible?
Don't have any way to test rn, but from what I can tell if you go thru the messaging app and open the people and options of a contact you've been messaging, there's an option to change from notification there.

Yeah there is an option through the texting apps themselves, but I can see to get it working. I can set them up, and the only one that comes through is the one a set up through settings, doing, SMS
Signal lets you set different tones per contact.

Quick panel shortcut to disable notifications

Is there a 3rd party app perhaps that lets you add a custom Quick panel shortcut to disable/enable notifications from either a certain/multiple/all apps? Something like "Do not disturb" except it doesn't turn your phone into silent mode, it just turns off the text notification/s. Like if I receive an email, the Gmail icon would still show a +1 counter or even trigger the new email sound, but I wouldn't receive any notification at the top of my screen. Like if I'm showing my photo gallery to a friend, I don't want a random email or SMS or whatever from whomever to pop up and my friend sees it - it's none of their business. I know I can also go manually into Settings, Apps & turn Notifications off completely for specific apps, but I just want a quick 1 tap shortcut like I have for "Do not disturb" mode and also not disable them completely, but just the text notification at the top.
