Beta opt out - Google Pixel Questions & Answers

Hi, I bought a used pixel 32 GB. Working fine. But the previous owner opted it in to beta. Whenever I try to opt out, the phone does factory reset and I'm stuck at 7.1.2 with the January security patch.
Not even any updates for the beta.

Shall I ask the previous owner to log in with his account and opt out of beta? Would that make a difference?
Thanks.

If that is happening, you will have to factory restore your device by flashing the stock factory image.
Factory images can be downloaded here. Remember that they differ by carrier, so make sure you download the correct one.
https://developers.google.com/android/images
If you are having trouble with flashing, just google "Flash Google Pixel factory image" and you should get some more detailed instructions.
Since you probably removed the previous user of the phone, opting out on his account will do nothing.
Hope that helps!

If it's a normal pixel you can just flash the latest factory image. If it's bootloader locked like VZW or some EU carriers you'll need the original owner to opt out for that device.

I'm the original owner on a Verizon pixel. Opted for Beta, now I want out. Google page says it will send me a reset link to reinstall the non beta, but I should backup the phone before doing so. What does it exactly erase? Entire thing, start from scratch? Does it erase all apps, media, cache, cookies?

Everything. It'll be just like you bought it new in box. You'll have to set everything back up that your Google account didn't restore.

Ugh...I don't like that...not as much because of apps or launcher layout, that's backed up...but cookies for passwords, banks and such...I might just have to wait for the official 712 release.

[Q] I don't even know what to name this problem...

It kept crashing every 30 seconds. I tried to clean cache, clean data, force stop, reboot phone, remove google account in "Accounts & Sync", everything you can find on the internet (except for an actual solution, which i still didn't find). I thought re-installing it would help. I found an apk for Android 2.3.4, and installed it. I rebooted the phone. I had the same problem with play store a couple of months earlier, and I thought it would be the same.
Android didn't boot after that. Tried removing battery, rebooting phone, nothing. Had to do a factory reset. Once the phone booted (after factory reset) i got to the part where I get a green android with a message "Touch the android to begin"
I tried factory reset a couple of times, with and without sd and sim cards, no luck. Tried tapping the corners, but nothing. Found some other **** online, same result.
Why did you try to install an OS using an apk? It sounds like what you should have done was reflashed GAPPS which should have overridden the framework you were having a problem with and solved the problem. If your phone is not rooted, the only way you can fix it is to boot into recovery and reset from there. If you do have a rooted phone, it'll probably be easier to go into CWM and reflash your ROM.

On my old device ADM could locate my device. Since i get new device from RMA ADM cannot locate my device. I tried every suggestion that i found on forum and internet and nothing helped. Since it dont work since i get new device maybe the reason can be that i put the backuped partitions from old to the new device throuht twrp. So what shall i do?

go into the main settings, security, make sure that the android device manager is set as an administrator.

It is. But as i said, it was working on old device so it should be something correlated to the restoring backup from old to the new device.

ah, it was an older nandroid you restored on a new device.. uninstall the app, then reinstall it.

It did not helped.
This is one of many reasons I personally never recommend that people use a nandroid from one device to another.
Just wipe and flash stock with fastboot. Done.
Backup your user apps and data with titanium backup.
I will try that as a last resort since there is a little progress.
As can be seen on picture ADM locate my device, but it says that it is unavailable.
From second picture can be seen that ADM registered my both N5, and that old one was last been online on the 12 of July and that the new device was last online on the 4 of August. On the 4th August was my new device still with a original firmware. But after that when I put OmniROM and restore data from old device ADM thinks that my device was not online but it can locate it. Strange.
Any suggestions?

My S7 "Forgot" my pattern

Hi,
I have my device for a few months now, and I usally use my fingerprint to unlock my device.
However, when I restart the device I cannot put my FP to unlock my device, only with my pattern (After some research I found that is by design and due to security risks).
Yesterday I tried to root my device, the flash was succesful however when my phone restarted he asked for my pattern (as he usally does), but now my pattern is not accepted.
My pattern hasn't changed for about two years now and is the same on my phone and my tablet, so it is not likely I forgot it.
I'm currently stuck with a phone that won't start the OS without my inputting my pattern, however, he won't accept my pattern..
What can I do?
After some research I have discovered I'm not the only one, and that the S7 "forgets" the pattern sometimes.. yet no solution worked for me..
Is there a way to solve this? maybe revert the root? is that even an option?
Please Help

I had this problem and it was because of Device Encryption and because we didn't put in our own password, I think. The way I fixed it was by flashing stock firmware through Odin on to my phone and used the CSC file as this will completely wipe the device including the Encryption.
I didn't worry about the wipe of my Data as Samsung Cloud backs everything up anyways and hope it's the same for you.
Good luck!

Change your password using android device manager on your pc
sadly my latest photos from a trip to italy hasn't backed up from some reason.. so wiping is not an option.. though the phone offers it if I input a wrong password again..
oh and ADM isn't an option since the OP hasn't booted up yet.. it's kernel based I believe
as I said.. ADM isnt an option since he cannot connect with my device
Currently I'm thinking about two solutions,
the first one is to wipe all my data, connect via usb and try to restore it with fonepaw restore..
however, this require me to wipe, and I preffer to avoid that, so the next solution I thought of is mounting the data partition and backing it up, then try to extract the files.. however my phone is encrypted, and to my understanding that is an issue..
if anyone knows how to help my with this *please do so*, I'm in dire need.
If there's a sulotion, however weird and far off - i'll take it.
Few methods here that 'may' work

http://www.samsung-android-transfer.com/recover-android/how-to-unlock-samsung-phone.html
Went over it, sadly since it's not a lockscreen of android, but the kernal lockscreen..

You have the former owner's Gmail? Why not email them?
Factory reset, set it up with your own Google account

Question Google Wallet - no longer working since recent update on Samsung s22 ultra

After the last firmware update (May 24) Google Wallet payment stopped working.
The same problem someone else encountered based on this post: https://support.google.com/wallet/thread/217891750
Phone without root, bootloader is locked, only changed region a year ago, but I don't think that's the problem.
Does anyone else have similar problems with the stock firmware?
Spoiler: Play integrity check

You're missing the MEETS_DEVICE_INTEGRITY label, usually means that the firmware you're on does not have a CTS profile match. Hard to say why, the only thing I can suggest is reflash the factory firmware with a full data wipe.
The problem with the firmware for the SEK region, on 4pda about 15 people have already reported this problem
from this page: https://4pda.to/forum/index.php?showtopic=1043829&st=4080
I had same problem and i do think is SEK region firmware issue.. First go to Play Store and go to Settings and then About and there check is your device certified (mine was suddenly uncertified after last firmware update). So far i manage to fix it by deleting Google play data and cache and Google Play services cache, then you need to go to recovery (turn off device, connect to usb cable then press power and volume up button) and then in recovery you need to clear cache and then repair apps and reboot. As i said so far it works for me.
