Will I get 7.0 update on my Honor 8 via OTA? - Honor 8 Questions & Answers

Hi, I recently downgraded from Android 7.0 to 6.0 on my Honor 8 device using firmware package as I faced severe battery drain issues with 7.0 (I tried the rollback package but it didn't work for me). I'm wondering if I'll get the future updates to 7.0 via OTA or should I download manually and install?

If I was you I would make sure that you are registered via your honor ID &, Hicare and wait see if you get the ota. I can't think of any reason why you won't get it.
I have only updated via official OTA's and I have had no issues with battery life.
My phone is very stable and the battery lasts all day what ever I'm doing no problem.
It would be interesting to see how many of the folks that are having issues have rooted Thier phone's or used the FF etc.
When you do get the update install the update then factory reset them give your phone a week to settle and learn your usage habits

Help with my Honor 4c 4.4.2

My phone Honor 4c is currently experiencing unexpected problem.
It started after I downloaded the updates in my phone using wifi and my stock build was B070 then after the 2 updates which was downloaded accidentally my build goes to B180. I tried many things just to revert this and go back to my old build which is B070 but the version failed it keeps saying error/failed..
Can someone help me with my problem, i really want to upgrade my phone's OS from KitKat to Lollipop or even further (Marshmallow)
Why do you want to revert back to B070 from B180. You have to take OTA updates to upgrade to a newer version. Sit tight and you'll automatically receive the Lollipop update B320.
my build no. is b180 and when i check the updates in settings and said that no updates available?
pls help, i want my huawei honor 4c to be lollipop to marshamallow, pls help
sorry for bad english,hahah

How to manually upgrade to latest version of Nougat?

I had received the update to Nougat via OTA on my Honor 8 early February. I, however, had to rollback to Marshmallow within a week or so as I had extremely poor battery life after the update. The rollback package on the Official Honor (US) Website didn't work for me. So I had used firmware package to switch back to Marshmallow. The current model number is FRD-L04 and the build number is FRD-C567B122.
I'm not sure if I'd receive future updates via OTA. I'm wondering if there is any patch introduced after the original update to Nougat & EMUI 5.0 and whether I should try manually upgrading again? My phone isn't rooted; could you provide any steps that would help me try a manual upgrade?
Thanks.

Still no B380 update on my L09C432 ...

Hi there, so I think that everyone has B380 now... But I haven't got the update yet, so I'm still on B360 so I'm wondering if anybody else have the same problem.

Same
I have the FRD-L14 in the US, and I'm also still on B360
No update here Europe (Slovenia)
No update here in Finland either (on B360). I'm wondering if they might give priority to those still on Marshmallow and provide update for B360 last (just speculation). That would be logical and even quite fair.
same here in Croatia
asked the customer service, they got no clue
Hello,

Firmware Finder doesn't work though, when you get to recovery to update it says it failed to verify package.

L04 doesn't even have B380 on Firmware Finder yet. Our last update was in the beginning of January. It has the December security update. It's now April.
I don't think asking for a monthly security update three times a year is greedy.
Guys.
Before you all rush out and try to install this 380 update.
The battery life on 380 is alot worse than it was on 360.
My phone has never been rooted, never been played about with.
Only had officially released OTA updates.
Yes you will be the January security patch but that's about all.
I wish i had kept mine on the 360 that was stable and better than this 380
John
Agreed the 380 update sux's big time, battery is shocking. I'm almost at the point of giving up on this phone because of the very odd battery performance.

You may have to use the dload method, or flash it via TWRP

Did you get the ~1.4GB OTA released April 2nd or the ~2.2GB one released on the 29th. The 1.4GB version was also released again on the 29th. The update notes in the later release mention fixing the "OK Google"/Google Assistant bug in the camera app and say they improved power consumption. The earlier release notes were just a copy paste of the Nougat/EMUI 5.0 update (B320 or 324 I think? I don't feel like checking). I'm really hoping we get post-380 in all regions with March security updates and bug fixes sometimes soon. B382 is out for L02 (China?) already.
Bump, still no update avalible
Sent from my Honor 8 using XDA Labs
I also did the manuall install with the dload method.
But as the battery drain there is no on B381 it is for
me evan better then it was on B360
If someone want to do it also manuall with the dload method just read
the page 4 and page 5 from the links below.. it also has the download link
for the B381
https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-8/help/firmware-b386-frd-l09-t3600156/page4
If the firmware is not for you and you need to use the FF for it..
Just look at the you tube in the link below
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rpeZOK7ATB8&t=125s
And after you downlaod the firmware dont update now.. but choose to update later..
Then go ahad with the dload method and install it manually..
It is the same as you would get it OTA but it just forces the update.. nothing more
At least as much I have understand it from the experiance users
I got my update from 360 to 381 three days ago (L19C432 in Finland). So the update is clearly still rolling out.

Updating from MM with root+xposed to N with root+xposed without data loss

Hey everyone.
I've stayed on Marshmallow since I got this phone, but now that Oreo has started rolling out on various devices, and Xposed is available for Nougat (I can't live without MinMinGuard anymore), I figured it's time for an upgrade to (stock) Nougat. I'm currently on EMUI 4.1, Android 6.0, version FRD-L09C432B131. Can I update to B403 without losing my data and access to root and Xposed? B403 is the highest version approved for installation for my device that I found through the Firmware Finder for Huawei app.
Googling on this issue hasn't left me much wiser; Can I just flash my stock recovery and boot partitions to enable the upgrade process, download and update through the firmware finder app, reflash newest twrp and then reflash supersu and xposed from twrp once on 7.0, all without losing my apps and data? I've used this phone as my daily driver for nearly two years, and I would like to avoid having to set it up from scratch as much as possible, as that's a pain-in-the-ass process that'll take me ages.
Anyone have any experience doing this? Any input is appreciated!

No updates?

Hi, about a year ago i tested some custom rom's, but i had some problem with them so i came back to Stock ROM, stock bootloader, locked the bootloader. Im using it from then, and it runs fine, im happy with it. But my problem is that my security updates are from: 1st September 2017, my EMUI is: 5.0.1 and Android 7.0 - NXT-L29C432B582. HiSuite tells me that my system is up-to-date same as i click to check for updates in phone settings. Is that normal, or i am not getting the updates for some reason? If so how can i restore them?
