Hi,
My Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is rooted for couple of years. Currently running AICP ROM, Version 12.1-NIGHTLY. TWRP is installed and functional.
Couple of weeks back the phone stopped connecting to cellular networks. The SIM Card is not defective - it is working on another phone. (Even on this phone, the operator is recognised, but the signal strength is always zero.)
Otherwise the phone (?) is working fine. I can connect to WiFi and all other Apps works fine.
On checking for IMEI, it is showing fake IMEI - 004999010540000. This is not what is printed in the battery compartment. The EFS Partition is empty.
Samsung Service centre has suggested replacement of the motherboard. The cost is prohibitive factor.
I had a nandroid backup of the original ROM, however, the microSD Card has become corrupt and the backup is lost. (Original EFS Partition is no more available.)
I tried to connect the phone to ODIN/Samsung Kies, however, the phone is not connecting to these softwares. (I can browse the phone through file explorers on my computer and also copy-paste files.)
Is there some way in which I can restore the phone to working state? Or, I need to change the motherboard - as Samsung Service has indicated?
Thanks.

I know this is an old thread. But spent so many days reading all those stuffs. Finally contacted samsung service centre and they says they can't repair my phone since its not manufactured in my country. Tried repairs like '' GSII repair'' and lots of other. Am not sure what I did. Deleted efs folder and copied, pasted. Nv files restarted. But of know use. When I tried inserting another network simcard(my friends) . The imei didn't change. But I was able to make phone calls and 3g. Bought a new sim of the same network. But I couldn't use it to make calls. It shows network not registered(like my previous carrier). The only thing I am able to do is I can use 3g. And I am typing from this same phone. Thank you for reading this..

If all you want is the original working condition you might be able to restore to stock.
Make sure to select the version for your device/region.
Restoring Galaxy S2 to Stock

After looking at that you might try to flash a custom ROM, now that you can revert back
Use your recovery mode to make a backup of your current state before you do anything further.
If you have a terminal emulator do "reboot recovery", or find a menu.
Alternately there is a button-press sequence or this app here:

Might use a backup app on the internal sdcard. Use odin/adb to push/pull files to from the phone and computer to keep the backup safe. Moving to the external (removable) sdcard is also good.
I've been trying to fix my sisters SGS2 Skyrocket all day today to no avail. Ive searched high and low for a solution to my problem.
Basically my problem is that my sisters cell phone will not connect to the ATT mobile network.
Current phone status:
Current version is 4.1.2 Completely Stock
baseband version (I727UCMC1)
Network: Unknown
Signal Strength -95dBm 9 asu
Mobile Network Type: Unknown:0
Service State: Out of Service
Mobile Network State: Disconnected
My Phone Number: x-xxx-xxx-xxxx (the correct number)
IMEI: 3572xxxxxxxxxxx (the correct imei)
IMEISV: 10
When I try to make phone calls it states "Emergency Calls Only"
I can sometimes recieve SMS messages around 45 minutes after they have been sent (which is pretty weird that I get them at all)
It is not a SIM card error, I even went today and got a new SIM card from ATT just to be sure.
I tried calling ATT they did some stuff to it, not sure what. At one point after a fresh restart I was able to make a phone call
and it went threw, hanged up waited a few seconds and tried again and it would say "Dialing" but would not reach an outside line, and the call would end before ever connecting. the ATT tech person said they would put my phone on some kind of list for their tech pros to look at and would get back to me within 5 days. I do not have much faith in that.
I have tried changing the APN settings, tried factory resetting, tried installing CWM recovery and flashing a new modem.
When WIFI is off, the only icons I see are the signal bars with 1 or 2 bars in it, No data connection. Earlier when they were messing with it
4gLTE popped up, and appeared to have a connection but the browser did not work, and I could not make a phone call/send texts.
If anyone has any new suggestions that I can try, im all ears! Thanks for reading!
I'm going to try this:
25d) My phones not behaving normally and I tried methods above still not resolved.
Ok try this:
remove sim(eliminates sim card issues)
remove external sdcard
backup internal sdcard then format(fat32) it
then perform a full wipe: read q.26
copy ucmc1 radio onto sdcard and flash it twice w/out cable plugged in
then use odin to flash jb stock firmware x2.
if still having issues after doing this then its some kind of hw failure, what hw failure idk, could be most likely emmc (memory) failure
This also ended in failure.

most likely but not definitive - either sim card tray or antennae problem, search with those key words for possible fixes
II went to bed with my Note 10.1 N8000 with Gnabo ver. 6.5 ROM and a HTC M8 on the table by the bed a week ago.
Before sleeping in I heard that I got a SMS on both devices (two simcards with the same nbr. from provider). As I was almost sleeping I didn't check the SMS before morning. On my HTC there was no SMS.
My Note 10.1 showed recovery screen. Tried to boot but without any luck. The EFS folder was corrupted. And sorry to say, the EFS folder backup I created years ago is nowhere to find. So now I have lost my Imei and have no network.
I have used the tool Chimera tool to get a fake IMEI for testing and check that there are no hardware faults with the Note 10.1. Everything is fine.
But what happend.
1. Service SMS broke my tab?
2. Gnabo 6.5 have bugs that can make the tablet unusable?
I have read numerus threads and articles about how to recreate the original IMEI, without any luck. And some threads and sellers says the the only way to recreate IMEI is to use a special cable.
But the point is, repairing IMEI can be done without cable. But how to recreate it myself?
I have a note edge SM-N915T (T-Mobile version) and i am requesting for anyone's efs back up. Before you get all worried about giving me your imei, my device already has an imei on it and i am able to view it. The only problem that having a corrupt efs folder is that I can't connect to most wifi networks properly. Even if i do, when i restarted, all the data for wifi gets wiped out so I have to reinput it in. If anyone is willing to give me the efs back up that will be fantastic because I have been trying to attack this problem since feburary.
Hello, can anybody provide the QCN file for lenovo K32C36?
I bought my Lenovok32c36 from China. As I was always getting an error message "process com.android. phone has stopped" and the only thing I could do was to restart the phone, I decided to switch to A6020a46 FW.
However I haven't backed-up my configuration data (IMEI code, etc) in form of a QCN file, so after flashing I lost my network settings i.e. no signal on none of the SIM cards.
I solved this by making QCN back-up from a working A6020a46 phone (from a friend of mine), then replaced his IMEIs by mine hoping that after restoring that QCN file on my device everything will work again.
And almost it did..but only almost..
It seems there is still some problem somewhere, because on one of the SIM cards the call will always be interrupted after ~ 30 seconds.
I suspect there must be some slight difference between the european version of the phone of my friend and my chinese one. E.g. he's got 2 IMEI codes on his device whereas I have got only one. And accordingly I do not know exactly how to replace his two different IMEIs in the QCN file by mine signle one. I tried already more variants: 1) I adapted slightly the last digit of my original IMEI code to get the 2nd one different, and this works partially but as I mentioned with interruption of the call on one SIM after ~ 30 seconds. 2) I tried to put my single IMEI into the QCN file twice (same IMEI) - with this only one SIM will connect to the network and the 2nd one gets no signal.
Any ideas?
