Games won't load over WiFi but do over mobile data? [T-Mobile, S7 Edge] - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

Hey guys! I'm at a bit of a standstill.
I just purchased a Galaxy S7 Edge (T-Mobile if it matters) and I'm having some issues with a few games. For some reason, most of them just won't load over WiFi but they load perfectly over mobile data. Here's a few prime examples:
NFL Mobile. When connected to WiFi, the game gets stuck at "Signing Contracts." Eventually it times out and says I need to be connected to the internet. The second I turn off wifi the game immediately proceeds past the stuck screen and works just fine.
Asphalt Xtreme: The game loads, but when you're finished with a race it says "getting card info" or something similar which it's essentially referring to the rewards. Over Wifi, the connection times out. Over mobile data, it works instantly.
I've only found a few 'fixes' over the internet and none have worked. I haven't tried the factory reset yet but I will if it's my only option. Here's a few things I found online which I've tried, yet no luck.
Changing DHCP to Static in my phone.
Updating DNS1 to 8.8.8.8.
Changing TKIPAES to AES
I use a WRT500 connected via fiber optics, 300mbps if it matters. I'm set to IPv4 (doesn't even have an IPv6 option), PPPoE, WPAPSKWPA2PSK, changed TKIPAES to just AES, WPS is enabled, and I'm getting well over 200 MBPS from speedtests. Web browsing is normal, YouTube loads 1440p+ instantly, etc. My problem seems to be just the games. I've also tried this on my work WiFi, works just fine.
So what do you think I should do here? Is the router the issue? Are there some sort of specific network changes I should make? Thank you for any insight.

If it's working fine on your works WiFi, then it seems the issue is not the phone, almost certainly your home WiFI/Router
Try rebooting the router, if that doesn't work, restore it to factory settings and start fresh, don't forget to write down any info needed for the router to connect
No proxies or VPNs enabled on the router? Sounds like it's struggling to directly connect to the services needed by the game and hanging, rather than knowing there is or is not a connection and proceeding it just keeps trying

Its google being a as*#*#hole again, it happened to me. Drag your screen down, open wifi, then open wifi preferences, (go into advance wifi settings on your phone), There will be a network rating provider, when you open that setting you will see google selected as default, unselect it and select none, (the option that says "none". Problem sovled. Google ruins everything, i turn off as many google settings as I can. Another way around it is to set up another device like a tablet/pc and turn it into a hotspot and then connect your phone to that new hot spot. Its all because some server game require a trusted connection and google tells the game that your wifi is untrusted. Hope that sorts it for you.

WMWifiRouter and connecting to AP

So I've installed WmWifiRouter, and I'm really happy with it as an alternative to Bluetooth DUN/PAN, however, I've run into the following issue:
Once I have WMWifiRouter installed and configured, I am no longer able to use my phone to connect to my home wireless AP. Even when WMWifiRouter is closed, it attempts to connect to the Ad-hoc network that it creates, and will not allow me to connect to my home wireless network. I tried removing the wifi settings for WMWifiRouter, only to find that it I do that, I have to reinstall the program to use it again.
Can anyone give me any suggestions as to how I might work around this issue? I know it's a beta, so there might be something there, but if anyone can help, or if anyone has gotten things to work with a similar setup, I'd appreciate it. Thanks
Is the website even up anymore? I went to it and it didn't even exist. Are they coming out with any new releases. I was also wondering if it would let us set out own WEP key
Absolutely, I JUST downloaded it yesterday...go wo www.wmwifirouter.com . And yes, it does allow the use of your own WEP key in the latest release. Can you comment on the issue I'm having?
Alternately, is there anyone who is using WMWifiRouter on their Kaiser who isn't having this problem? If so, how does yours work? What are your settings? Thanks
I don't know if this will help, but here's what I'm referring to:
It just constantly stays on connecting, and if I try to connect to another network, I get the error:
"Warning. Cannot connect to the network. Check your network and service provider and try again."
I just tried it on my Kaiser and was able to share the connection with a Dell laptop and Fujitsu tablet simultaneously. Speedtest.net showed speeds like 1120k down and 330k up. I set security WEP and could connect, but could not surf sites with I.E. but with settings changed to OPEN everything worked fine.
I too found that after I shut this down that my "normal" home wireless LAN connection would no longer connect. In fact the WiFi radio turned itself off when I turned it on and expected it to auto-connect as it did before. When I went into wifi setup on the Kaiser I found that my home connection was gone! I had to add back my home connection, re-config it's WEP settings and was then able to connect once again.
I also wonder what the "normal" behavior is supposed to be for this application when it's started. Should one be able to simply start WiFiRouter and it powers up the WiFi radio, ICS, and makes the phone ready for connections? I found that it would Not power up the radio on mine even though it seemed to claim that it was doing this.
I then tried launching WiFiRouter again and sure enough, it screws up my home access point connection profile every time by blowing away the settings and password.
I reported this on the WiFiRouter website.
Thanks so much for the reply. I just tried following the same procedure, and it worked out for me too. So weird that I actually had to delete my home wifi settings. It does work properly now though, and on my device, using DCS 1.7, it doesn't shut off my wifi when i disconnect/close the program. Thanks again for the help!
Well...sadly, my problem has cropped back up. Basically, the exact same thing is happening, but the fix that worked before is no longer working. I did get in touch with the makers, and they are aware of the problem and looking for a solution. If anyone else can help, that would be great. Otherwise, I'll try to post again if/when I get a fix. Thanks
You need to goto Wifi connections & deselect the WMWIFI AP. Then click & hold on your home AP & select connect. You may also have to turn of the DHCP in WMWIFI befor doing this, otherwise your other connections will try using it.
OK here's what I just sent to Jorrit at WiFiRouter when he asked for me to try a few things;
TEST-1 Start>Settings>Connections>WiFi "Networks to access" was set to "all available".
1-Ran WifiRouter (WFR), my wifi radio does not power up, WFR showing "Waiting for ICS and WLAN".
2-I manually powered up radio (using AnyButton Plus mapped to key).
3-WFR then connected, BUT it connected to my Home LAN. WFR's settings were set to "Force PC to PC Connection" but it connected to my AP anyway?
4-Disconnected WFR, waited a few seconds, pressed re-connect, it now properly "connected to WFR".
5-Pressed Disconnect, Pressed Quit.
6-Checked "network to access" settings, they were still set to "All available".
7-Checked wireless networks, Home LAN was still there and all settings were intact, WFR was there as well.
8-Manually powered On WiFi, instead of auto connecting to my home LAN, the radio powered itself off in about 1-2 seconds.
8-I manually powered WiFi On for the 2nd time, now I get "Cannot connect".
9-Checked wireless networks, WFR is at top of list with "Connecting" showing, Home LAN is below it, and checking it shows all settings gone.
10-I manually re-entered settings (Checked "this is a hidden network", and entered my WPA-PSK TKIP Key) and tapped "Connect". Then a dialog box opened asking for the network key again. I cancelled and the Home Lan entry disappeared from the Kaiser's network list.
11-With WiFi radio Off, I again created the home lan connection and set "networks to access" to AP's Only, Powered on the radio and it connected OK.
TEST 2 - With "all available" set, could it be the WFR is at the top of the list, and it "beats out" the normal home lan connection? Lets try AP's Only setting;
1-Left "networks to access" to AP's only and started WFR. It started normally (well, with the exception that I had to manually power up wifi) and when I checked wifi settings, "networks to access" had changed to "computer to computer" by WRF.
2-I disconnected WFR and Quit the program, it powered Off the WiFi radio, checked settings and it had switched back to "only access points", home lan was there, settings intact.
3-Powered up wifi radio expecting auto connect to home lan, No, wifi shut-off immediately again.
4-Powered up a 2nd time without touching anything, this time it connected to the home lan without issue.
So I'd say there are a couple of issues,
A-Why does the WiFi Radio shut down on the 1st attempt after quitting WFR?
B-Using "All available Networks" causes problems if WFR is at the top of the list?
C-I hate the fact that I'm the "only one who's TyTN II doesn't Power up the WiFi Radio when WFR starts"
They are working on it...
We think we have isolated the problem (once again the problem is WZC), patch should be forthcoming soon.

Wow, I hadn't expected a reply directly from you. Thanks very much. I appreciate your attention on this issue. If you have the time and might post when the patch is available, that would be great, otherwise, I'll be checking the the download site. Thanks again.

Patch will be available when it's done, can't say any more than that. We know what the problem is, but it will not be fixed easily, and the workaround is fairly complex, so it's hard to give a timeframe.
Oh, I wasn't asked for a release date, I was just hoping that you might post when it is released, whenever that may be. I really appreciate the effort you're putting into this, and totally understand that it's not a simple fix. Thanks again.
I have a different problem. I used this program and now I cannot use internet share using my tilts normal data. Very confused and now haven't had internet at home for over a week now. Does anyone know how to fix this?
I can see how that could be annoying. Please see this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1801366&postcount=158. Ignore the content, just download the file, unzip it, run the EXE on your phone. It will create two files, post those here, and maybe I can find out what the issue is.

Very strange on and off WMWifi Router problem

I've just recently bought an HTC Touch Pro on Verizon plan. I read about WMWifi Router so I decided to try it to be able to share my phone's internet connection to other devices. I also realized that Verizon had removed the Internet Sharing app, so I knew I had to get that also. I got it all to work, but it doesn't work after I shut it down and restart it. These are the details, and I apologize but it's rather long and confusing...
I got WMWifi Router first and installed it not realizing I needed Internet Sharing first. After it didn't work, I downloaded Internet Sharing, installed it, and it still didn't work with WMWifi Router. I could connect to the phone via Wifi, but I couldn't browse the net on the laptop I tried to use (Windows XP). I uninstalled both Internet Sharing and WMWifi, and then reinstalled Internet Sharing first, then WMWifi. It worked this time, and I noticed the little icon next to the "Cellular Connection" on the WMWifi screen was green this time instead of yellow or red as it had been before.
Everything worked great with good speeds. I then shut the program down. Next time I tried to use it, I had the same initial problem, wifi connection but no internet on the computer. The icon at Cellular Connection on WMWifi was also yellow again. I uninstalled WMWifi, and then tried to uninstall Internet Sharing. It told me it couldn't remove it all. I then reinstalled Internet Sharing, and I had to restart the phone. Upon restart I installed WMWifi. Everything worked this time, green icon at the cellular connection, great speeds. To test it, I shut down WMWifi and restarted it, and no internet, yellow icon at cellular connection.
During this whole process I could always get to the internet on my browser, so I always had signal, and data was turned on.
I did the whole uninstall reinstall process and it worked, with a green cellular icon on WMWifi. I turned it off again to test, again it didn't work, only this time when I tried to uninstall Internet Sharing, it didn't tell me it couldn't remove it. Then when I installed it, it didn't make me restart. Now no matter what I do, I can't seem to get it to give me a green connection on Cellular, and I get no connection to the internet.
I know it's not a problem with the computers I'm using as I've tried a couple, and I can verify it's not. It's a problem somehow with WMWifi binding to Internet sharing or something similar. Maybe I have a faulty copy of Internet Sharing? Anyone have any ideas?
to be honest, if it was me, i'd try one of 2 things.. or maybe both.
1. backup my data (you can do that using PIMBackup2.8) and hard reset since something might've screwed up the whole thing
2. pm Chainfire (the creator of WMWifiRouter) and ask him if he has any experience with this issue.
It may be related to a bug that is fixed in the upcoming 1.30 - or it might not. I'm afraid I can't really tell from here right now (I'm in Barcelona).
As your experience seems to vary a lot and you have done a bunch of things, you may need to hard-reset as well (not sure - yet - though).
You should write support @ wmwifirouter . com about this issue, so it can be handled.

[Q] WiFi Disabled

Samsung Galaxy IIS Skyrocket sghi727, ANDROID 2.3.5, Kernel 2.6.35.11, baseband I727uckj2 Build Gingerbread. AT&T network. WiFi worked ok on Home system and allowed phone to connect/transmit/receive data.
Now, it scans and identifies the Home system but gives a WiFi remembered message then a WiFi Disabled message. I can not connect the phone to the home WiFi network. I have ATT DSL with Speedstream 5600 modem and an "N" router. I have "G" appliances connected and running as well at the same time.
The home modem and WiFi system are working well (I'm on a laptop using WiFi now). I have checked the password and it is entered correctly. I have tried to "forget" and re-enter the Home system WiFi info to no avail.
I used the Skyrocket's manage applications to try to stop some of the apps that I wasn't using (Social Hub, for example) but they keep reloading. I went to the apps pages and drag/dropped those I wasn't using...they are still showing up as being in place (and taking up space) but that didn't appear to get rid of them either.
I tried a reboot. No change. Other than ATT's general disagreeableness, and my lack of knowledge on this operating system, what's causing the problem and how can I fix it? If I have a file that isn't loading or an app that isn't loading, how do I replace/repair them? What files & apps MUST run to use the WiFi?
Thank you for your assistance in this matter, I have read all the "WiFi disabled" links that the forum suggested prior to this posting.
Kev.
Hm, have you tried connecting at any other wireless spots? If you can connect to other wireless routers I would try resetting your router, see if it can connect to an all-default wireless router. If it can't connect to any wireless routers, well, you can either try flashing a different ROM or, since I get the impression you're not into rooting/flashing/messing with your phone, just take it back to the store and make them give you a new one.
I thank you!
I will try that though it was working at work the other day.
If someone has another idea, I'd like to hear that too.
Cordially,
Kev.
WiFi disabled: Solved!
OK, I finally figured it out. I had read all of the WiFi posts on the thread that mentioned WiFi & disabled. One from 2006 was for a different (ancient) phone.
My GF has an old XP desktop PC which is connected to the network via Ethernet cable. For some undetermined reason, when it hooks up to the home network, it locks any new system that is not running out. If they're up and running when it boots up, everything is fine. If they're shut off or the WiFi isn't connected, they're locked out.
The solution is to get rid of the old PC. The 2006 poster said that his phone would not connect to his WiFi if anything else connected at a different speed. Evidently this is a related phenomenon.
(At least I didn't mess the thing up!)

[Q] Broken WiFi after OTA to ICS

Started with 2.3.6, OTA to ICS failed repeatedly, finally fxz'd to 2.3.5, then OTA to 2.3.6 then to ICS per jimbridgman's instructions. Everything worked perfectly except for the WiFi, which under "WI-FI NETWORKS" now constantly flashes between "Connecting..." and "Saved, secured with WPA2". But there is no connection and the signal shows very low (which it's not). If I forget the connection the network shows up very strong. This connection had been working flawlessly with both the phone and my laptop since April.
Under "Wi-Fi Settings" , if I hold down on the network and go to "Modify Network" and under "Show advanced options", the "IP settings" were set to DHCP which should have worked, but if I change it from DHCP to Static, an incorrect IP comes up (192.168.1.128, should be 192.168.0.128) AND the "Save" button goes dark! I can edit the address and gateway and all the other settings but it won't save them.
I have rebooted the phone and the wifi router several times and changed some of the settings on the router. I also tried turning off all 3 devices, started the router, then the phone, then the laptop, all to no avail. Reverted the settings on my router. Never had a connection problem on the laptop through all of this.
Rooted the phone also per jimbridgman’s instructions. Installed Titanium Backup. Uninstalled the ATT Smart wifi app (I KNOW, SHOULD HAVE FROZE IT INSTEAD) with no change. Reinstalled the app from the Play Store. No change. Froze Smart Actions from Titanium Backup, that did seem to change to flash pattern on the wifi network, and I can now set it to “AUTO” from DHCP, which I wasn’t able to do before, but otherwise there is no real change. I did reboot after each change.
I sure hope someone can help a NOOB with this… I need the wifi.
Thanks in advance,,
Wireless N protocol
After fiddling with this most of the day I looked at the connection attempts from the router interface: Apparently the Atrix 2 is NOT using wireless N anymore, and the rest of my network is.
Anyone know how to set the wireless protocol in the Atrix 2?
Connected in G mode
Changed the router to mixed mode and the A2 connected, checked the client list on the router and it connected in wireless G mode. Ugh. I'd really like to keep this thing in the N mode.
Any suggestions? Anyone else seeing this? There's gotta be a way to change it to N mode, especially since it was using that mode exclusively before ICS.
Thanks,

mk808b wifi connection problem

Hi there,
I am having an issue with my MK808B connecting to my home network. I can connect fine to numerous other hotspots (samsung galaxy nexus, ipad, mifi, etc), but for some reason it just does not want to connect to my home network.
My router is a Cradlepoint MBR-1000, and I am tethering it to a Pantech UM270 Modem for Verizon LTE internet. I can connect fine to this network on several other devices, including the Samsung Galaxy Nexus.
The MK808B shows strong signal, but every time I hit "Connect", it will say connecting for a few seconds and then just revert to saying "Saved, Secured" but without any connection being made. I have of course tried all the normal stuff about rebooting routers, etc. I have tried "Forgetting" the network several times and re-connecting - no luck. I tried setting a static IP address to my home computers thinking there might be an IP conflict issue, but that doesn't seem to be it. I also tried taking off all security on the network, but it still does the same thing.
Some of the other forums I have looked at suggest going to some "Advanced" wifi settings on android, but the MK808b doesn't seem to have that option that I can find.
I looked into my router settings and I do not have any unusual permission settings that I can tell - i.e. no "MAC address filtering" or "Access Control" enabled.
Admittedly I am no network expert, and it seems like there must be some simple issue that I am overlooking.
Anybody got any ideas?
Thanks!

Stupid answer, but have you rebooted the stick? I've seen that happen on multiple Android devices randomly, and a reboot always fixes it. You can also forget the network and try reconnecting and retyping your password. Either/both of those should fix.

Yup, tried both of those ideas. Thanks for trying to help, though!
