Generally, default subtitle tracks are specified by the video file. Is it possible to add a feature so that you can set MX to prefer a subtitle stream with a specified language, similar to how you can set it to prefer an audio language?
I believe for audio it matches the entered preference to the mediainfo language flag for the stream. Subtitles usually have a language flag as well, so that could be matched too?

This feature was planned for 2.0, But I will be able to pull it forward
Awesome, didn't know that, but that's even better!
XBMC generated subtitle filenames support
Not sure if my request requires a new topic, but I think this is more an enhancement of the above's feature request.
I would like multi-language subtitle support to also do .srt files downloaded/generated by XBMC ( which is to be named 'Kodi' for version 14 b.t.w. ).
This is about the subtitle filename convention, for example filename.en.srt, filename.nl.srt or filename.de.srt, where the applicable language is embedded in the subtitle's filename.
Right now, MX Player does not pick up on those localized subtitle files. And opening an optional subtitle MX Player does not work because MX Player wants to pick it from the local Android device, and not from the network path/share that the video is coming from.
So for now I'm stuck on temporarily renaming the subtitle files on my network share before I can watch them on my Android device...
Hoping for a good solution for this 'issue'

This will be supported after MX supports network browsing.
This is a limitation of current implemenation, because MX does not have ability to browse files in servers.

Ok guys, i hope that there's somone around here that will understand me somehow. I like to watch my anime series on my Nexus 5, but the problem is that MXplayer doesn't play the ending and the opening of them . Most of the times anime are packed with the OP and ED in to files apart to save memory, on my PC this isn't a problem (I use MPC-HC with KCP codec pack) but MXplayer doesn't support a "script" maybe and every episode has neither OP nor ED. Maybe i simply don't know how to set this up, is there someone who knows how to get this to work??

Most animation uses SSA subtitle and it is one of supported subtitle formats.
Did you check subtitle track button? It is speech balloon button on the top right corner of the screen.

Maybe he's referring to ordered chapter support where the OP and ED of all episodes of a series is in a separate file. VLC for android supports ordered chapters but is unwatchable because ones the OP/ED starts, only the audio will play. I dont think that MX player will support this feature because probably 1% of all mx player user wants to have this

Yes, this sounds like what he's referring to. Considering that MX Player doesn't yet have chapter support (afaik), this seems like it's a long ways away.
The point of removing the OP/ED from the individual episodes is to make more efficient use of storage space. Adding them in individually will require a significant amount of time invested in reencoding the episodes and thus not worth it.
@LunarisDream is probably right, in that he's asking about MKV ordered chapter support. Currently this isn't implemented yet!
It's already on the feature requests list as high priority #6.
@reimart660 it's definitely more than 1% that want this feature.

Hi, I'm using MX to watch animations too.
I don't think what @Enri1196 want is ordered chapter support.
Here is the scenario about OP/ED in this case.
An episode have Opening/Ending song and sometimes they were divided into 3 files.
EP01_OP.mkv / EP01.mkv / EP01_ED.mkv
MX can play next sequence file automatically like EP01.mkv, EP02.mkv, and etc.
But MX can't play OP and ED files unless manually selection.
So, what Enri1196 want should be playlist support which already in 8th item at high parity.
BTW, ordered chapter and playlist support both are in my wish list.
Thanks for all developers.
i would also love to have this feature as mx player is the perfect player for anime fans.......
recently vlc added chapter support but i cant watch it because of the lags on vlc.

I think your explanation fits the description of ordered chapters where you have multiple MKVs in a folder and when you play it, it looks like its a single video because it plays in their right orders without interruption

But what if the file name contains additional "OP" or "ED"?
Took the example in my previous post.
In windows, File sequence will be EP01.mkv->EP01_ED.mkv->EP01_OP.mkv
But I wish to play by EP01_OP->EP01->EP01_ED.
I can't do that without a playlist support.
EDIT:
By using Google to search "Ordered Chapter" and knowing it's a special function in MKV spec.
Looks like I'm using a wrong scenario because MKV has ordered chapter support in spec which may confuse us.
Please let me change my scenario to EP01.mp4 / EP01_OP.mp4 / EP01_ED.mp4.
Now playlist is the key, right?
A playlist can support all media type but ordered chapter is for MKV only.

Sorry if I can't understand your point. Do you want to replicate ordered chapters function on an mp4 file by using playlist?
If that is what @ChungHung.Chen wants, it won't work without recoding the files. Because it's usually intro -> op -> episode -> ed -> preview, with intro, episode and the preview being encoded to one file, and op and ed to their own files. So you would have to splice the intro and the preview off the episode file. In that case, you might as well recode the whole episode into a single file.

Yes, I want to use a playlist to play video files according to my own sequence, no mater what type it is ( mp4 / mkv / wmv / etc. ).

Ok, as far as i can understand there's no support but is it a feature that requires a lot of work to be implemented??
I load an anime to my USB drive, then i connect it with usb otg next when i click on an episode basically there are neither OP nor ED because they're in two separate files. By the way i don't really mind not seeing OP or ED for the 1 or 2 episodes i watch on my phone, but it kinda bothers me when i'm far away from my PC only with USB drive with a preloaded anime and I can't see neither OP nor ED in all episodes.

Actually #6 is MKV ordered chapters and #8 is playlist according to the feature list.
I've read them carefully and respect of any developers.
That's why I've mentioned their number in Feature list in my first post in this thread.

Ah, I did not notice that you referenced the list in your original post.
Regardless, the takeaway is that both ordered chapters and playlists are in the development queue!
Is this the same sort of feature as ordered chapters?
I'd like to manually select which chapter to play in an MKV file that has several chapter points.
Is this ability already in MX Player and I don't know where to access it?
I recently merged some MKV/AVI etc files into a single MKV file with Mkvmerge and added chapters,
and a bonus would be selecting to jump to chapter 2 or chapter 10, for example.
If it's part of the ordered chapters then I'll sit back and wait, and if it's a different fish then I'll add an extra feature request.
Thanks

after how many years .......
After how many years , even high priority no #6, mx player still not added chapter support, all I know after long development is kind of bug fix only. :crying:
Could you add it in next release version [recent is 1.7b38 [15-03-2015] , I think ], please!!!
I'm using MX Player mainly for watching IPTV stream (mpeg2 ts) over http.
With the latest versions, since teletext became functional, I'm facing an annoying problem I don't know how to solve.
Either I must disable subtitles and select them manually on streams where I need them or I'm getting teletext on startup for streams having just teletext as subtitles.
So... is there a way to avoid this? For example, is it possible to have subtitles disabled in general and force enable/select them in command line? Or enable them in general but having them disabled with command line for a particular stream?

Thanks for reply, but it doesn't help me. I'm not asking how to completely enable/disable subtitles. I'm wondering how can I specify the opposite setting on the command line.
Um, by "command line"... do you mean the MX API? https://sites.google.com/site/mxvpen/api

Yes, that's exactly what I meant.
Actually, I call MY Player through some other app - I presume using an intent and passing it an url with the stream.
I would like to add "something" to the url in question - at least I wish it will work that way - in order to enable/disable (based on a general subtitle setting) subtitles in that particular case.
As you can see in the title, the subtitle shortcut is gone in my mx player android app after I updated it. The show I am watching already have subtitles with it and only needs activation from the shortcut and don't need an online subtitles download. Please fix this mx player devs. Your app was literally better than other video players, that's why I'm using it.

We sincerely apologize for the inconveniences caused. Unfortunately, this is caused by an android platform bug on Android 5.x. Request you to update the app to 1.13.2, and it should fix the issues. If the update is not yet showing up for you, you can download the same from our website http://mx.j2inter.com/download and install manually.
Thank You!
I am trying to automate video playing and I have two things I would like to have in MX Player:
- Be able to specify folders via Android intents and play all contents (like VLC for Android supports)
- Repeat the content by default (introduce a setting to repeat by default perhaps)
Thank you kindly in advance.

I work with completely unattended and automated devices. The file names change periodically. They are downloaded via Google Drive. This is why I can not launch MX Player with a file name.
VLC allows me to target folders to launch with but currently does not remember the repeat option.
This is why I am hoping for MX Player to maybe implement "playing folders" and permanent repeat option (either via Android intent, or a permanent setting).
