AICP
Android Ice Cold Project
AICP is known by everyone as the "Ice Cold Project" that started on a Desire HD and since then evolved into a mature ROM with the BEST community you can find!!!
Until Lollipop, the Rom has always been based on AOKP. Unfortunately, since AOKP stopped development (but made a comeback later), we changed our base to CM when it comes to hardware, drivers and some features.
With the rebrand of CM to LineageOS (LAOS) we are now actually LAOS based with some tweaks from AOSP.
If there are any bugs, either we will sort them out or LAOS team, if it concerns their code base. This rom isn't LAOS supported, so no need to report errors or bugs to them!!

Google Apps:
Beans gapps
Or
Open GApps (ARM or ARM64 7.1 pico or nano, depending on your phone's architecture)
You tell...
The ROM should contain everything you need to enjoy Android Nougat. You don't need to install any Add-Ons, simply download the latest ROM, GApps, flash it, and go!
If you want the device to run the ROM "rooted", you can flash a root solution of your choice after the ROM Zipfile.
It is STRONGLY recommended to fully wipe your device before flashing, and if possible avoid restoring system apps and system data with Titanium Backup as this can cause stability issues that are very hard to debug.
If you believe you know what you're doing - then fine, go ahead, but please don't complain if you experience strange behavior.
How to flash:
Again: Don't do it if you don't know it!
Download the ROM and GApps and transfer them to your device
Boot to recovery (TWRP recommended)
Wipe system, Cache, data and ART/Dalvik cache
Flash ROM Zipfile
Flash/Install GApps (optional, needed for e.g. Google Playstore to work)
Optional: If you are on lollipop bootloader and get a bootloop or wanna use encryption update your firmware from twrp: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=673368273298980128
Flash/Install the root solution of choice (optional)
Reboot to system
ROM supports both, lollipop and nougat, bootloaders.
After successfully downloading, updates are stored under AICP-OTA directory in Internal Memory. After flashing the update you need to flash this kernel and then flash the latest Magisk framework.
Read this: G+ Notice
The ROM has GApps persistance in between dirty flashes, so you only have to flash them once!
The root solution should be flashed together with every OTA update (= ROM Update)!
Supported root solutions:
Magisk v13(remember that v12 needs the Manager to be installed separately from XDA thread)
Magisk V13 includes Magisk Manager
SuperSU (Use whatever works for you, stable or beta):
SuperSU - stable and beta available (Site by CCMT that took over the the marketing from chainfire)
SuperSU - direct download link for the latest SuperSU directly from the dev (chainfire)
Lineage SU-addon (check your needed version: 14.1 arm or arm64) -> the removal zip is available here too.
KERNEL:
Kernel in this ROM follows LAOS source with custom additions.
PREREQUISITE FOR OTA:
To be able to flash using the buildin OTA app that needs TWRP recovery installed to work.
You can still use CWM/LAOS recovery and OTA app, but you will need to download the zip file and flash it manually from within your recovery. Zip gets saved in the "AICP_ota" folder on your internal storage.
Please be sure that you are on the latest TWRP recovery.

r2 will be used with a different device repo which has nougat blobs.

It is. At the end of it, but it's there.

Is there a recommended way to update? Other than dirty flashing new versions?

im confused in what kernel should i choose,is someone have a direct link ?
im getting crashes in gamings ,

Can I ask you a question? what is the difference with the nougat and the actual bootloader
Inviato dal mio Mi 4c utilizzando Tapatalk

i've updated my aicp version from 0227 to 0302 and it fix system freeze problem that i've got on build 0227. But there's something that doesn't work for me. It is wifi. On build 0227 i've connect to my wifi without any problem, but on 0302 build, it always 'obtaining ip address'.
Anyway, thanks for the great work.
*edit: nvm, wifi problem is fix

You don't have any choice. Just flash the ROM. Give us logcat from the crash. Make sure you are using the latest version.

Nougat uses device tree appended to the kernel. Device tree contains hardware specific configuration.
The device tree can only be appended to a gziped kernel. Gzip is a compression algorithm. It seems like the lollipop bootloader doesn't support gzip compression. Either that or we couldn't get it working.
Moving to nougat bootloader is useless for custom ROMs, since we don't need to use it for the ROM to work.

All right, now I know about this... In order to use AICP, how can I get back to lollipop Bootloader? Is there flashable firmware available? I don't want to get back to miui any more...

You need to flash the version of MIUI which can be unlocked from fastboot.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-4c/general/guide-unlocking-mi4c-bl-verification-t3336779
It will downgrade everything.
Then you can root, install TWRP and flash a custom ROM.

Thanks for your patient explanation! =)

On the latest 3 builds or so i'm getting partial freezing and then rebooting in different music players. Its happening when i'm changing songs and it's random. Log attached.
I'm updating via OTA, should i try clean install ???

FAQ:]
Before using the ROM:
Q. Can I have an ETA for the next build?
A. Yes, just look in the OP to see, if your device is build on a nightly or weekly schedule.
Q. Does this ROM support custom kernels?
A. No. You can still use them (as long as they are LOS based), but discussion should go in the thread of the respective kernel. We don't offer support for bugs you might encounter using them!
Q. Why doesn't this ROM support Xposed?
A. Xposed is a hack that is geared towards AOSP, custom ROM's modify the framework a lot, so Xposed can cause a ton of issues on custom ROM's. Now it might work for you, however it is not to be discussed in this thread, and you should refrain from posting bug reports.
Q. Alright, but I still want to flash Xposed, so which version do I need to install?
A. You will need to use the version arm64/arm for SDK 25.
Flashing the ROM:
Q. What do I need to know before flashing?
A. Check the install instructions in the first post...
Q. Can the builds be dirty flashed over each other?
A. Yes, however make a nandroid first as there is a chance of getting a bootloop or encountering bugs. Also bugs may only be reported on a clean flash.
Q. How do I dirty flash builds?
A. Wipe System, Cache and ART/Dalvik cache. Flash the ROM, your preferred root solution and reboot. Or you might just use the OTA app to preform that task for you.
Q. How do I flash kernel builds?
A1. Boot into TWRP and go to the install page in TWRP, in the bottom right corner select "install image", select the desired kernel, then select "boot", then swipe to flash, then go back to the install screen and install your root method again if you don't want to loose root, and then reboot.
A2. LOS based kernels sometimes come as a flashable ZIP file too. You can flash them together with a ROM update or separately. Go to the install page in TWRP, choose the kernel zip (or add it to the flash queue right after the ROM zip). Then add your root method to the queue, if you don't want to loose root. Now swipe to flash, clear Cache & ART/Dalvik cache and then reboot.
Using the ROM:
Q. How do I enable software buttons?
A. Settings -> Navigation -> Enable navigation bar. The bar can be configured separately in its settings.
Q I installed a bad theme and now I'm getting a bootloop, how do I fix it?
A In TWRP, flash the substratum rescue zip in the substratum folder on the internal storage.
Q I keep losing root with Magisk, how do I fix it?
A Check this out, if that doesn't work for you ask for help in this thread, read or ask in the Magisk thread on XDA or just flash Magisk again!
Q I'm having issues with WhatsApp, how do I fix it?
A Read this
Q. Do I need to provide a logcat if I'm reporting a bug?
A. If you want it to be fixed faster (or at all) then yes, you should definitely provide a logcat. (Note: Please just link the logcat from your GDrive, Dropbox, etc. and do not post the content here. Thanks.
Q. How do I get a logcat, what type should I get and more questions that can conveniently be answered by my pre-determined answer?
A1. Read this thoroughly. Also, here's a good app for getting logs: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tortel.syslog
A2. If you are already rooted, you can use the built-in feature to make a logcat and provide that. Just look into the root section in the AICP Extras menu.

You tell...
FAQ:
Before using the ROM:
Q. Can I have an ETA for the next build?
A. Yes, just look in the OP to see if your device is built on a nightly or weekly schedule.
Q. Does this ROM support custom kernels?
A. No. You can still use them, but discussion should go in the thread of the respective kernel. We don't offer support for bugs you might encounter while using them!
A. You will need to use the version arm64/arm/whatever for SDK 27.
Flashing the ROM:
Q. What do I need to know before flashing?
A. Check the install instructions in the first post...
Q. Can the builds be dirty flashed over each other?
A. Yes, however make a nandroid backup first as there is a chance of getting a bootloop or encountering bugs. Also bugs may only be reported on a clean flash.
Q. How do I dirty flash builds?
A. Wipe the System, Cache and ART/Dalvik cache. Flash the ROM, GApps (only needed if you wipe the system), your preferred root solution and reboot. Or just use the OTA app to preform that task for you.
Q. How do I flash kernel builds?
A1. If it's a .img file, boot into TWRP and go to the install page in TWRP, in the bottom right corner select "install image", select the desired kernel, then select "boot", then swipe to flash, then go back to the install screen and install your root method again, if you don't want to loose root and reboot.
A2. If it's a flashable ZIP, you can flash it together with a ROM update or separately. Go to the install page in TWRP, choose the kernel zip (or add it to the flash queue right after the ROM zip). Then add your root method to the queue if you don't want to loose root. Now swipe to flash, and then reboot.
Using the ROM:
Q. How do I enable software buttons?
A. Go to Aicp Extras/Navigation bar, and enable it.
Q. I installed a bad theme and now I'm getting a bootloop, how do I fix it?
A. In TWRP, flash the substratum rescue zip that's in the substratum folder on the internal storage.
Q. I keep losing root with Magisk, how do I fix it?
A. Check this out. If that doesn't work for you, ask for help in this thread, read or ask in the Magisk thread on XDA or just re-flash Magisk!
Q. I'm having issues with WhatsApp, how do I fix it?
A. Read this
Also, here's a good app for getting logs: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tortel.syslog (Root needed).
A2. If you are already rooted, you can use the built-in feature to make a logcat and provide that. Just look into the others section in the AICP Extras main page.
The ROM should contain everything you need to enjoy Android Oreo. You don't need to install any Add-on's, simply download the latest ROM, GApps, flash it and go!
If you want the device to run the ROM "rooted", you can flash a root solution of your choice after the ROM Zipfile.
It is STRONGLY recommended to fully wipe your device before flashing and please avoid restoring system apps and system data with Titanium Backup as this can cause stability issues that are very hard to debug.
If you believe you know what you're doing - then fine, go ahead, but please don't complain if you experience any strange behavior.
How to flash:
(Again: Don't do it if you don't know it!)
1. Download the ROM and GApps and transfer them to your device.
2. Boot to recovery (TWRP recommended).
3. Wipe the System, Cache, Data and ART/Dalvik cache.
4. Flash the ROM Zipfile.
5. Flash the GApps (optional, needed for e.g. Google Playstore to work).
6. Flash the root solution of your choice (optional).
7. Reboot your device.
The ROM has GApps persistence in between dirty flashes, so you only have to flash them once!
The root solution should be flashed together with every OTA update (= ROM Update)
Currently Supported Root Solutions:
Magisk stable
Magisk versions higher than 14.0 doesn't require flash on every dirty flash depending on the deivce, some devices need you to flash it every time, unless your maintainer says otherwise it should be fine
KERNEL:
The kernel in this ROM follows LAOS source with custom additions.
PREREQUISITE FOR OTA:
To be able to flash using the built-in OTA app, TWRP recovery is needed.
You can still use the LAOS recovery and OTA app, but you will need to download the zip file and flash it manually from within your recovery. The Zipfile gets saved in the "aicp_ota" folder on your internal storage.
Please be sure that you are on the latest TWRP recovery. Keep in mind that this could also be an unofficial version!

VoLTE Did not work for Me
Hey Folks, I just installed AICP ROM after Pixel Experience, that was a stable ROM in my frank Opinion but as I switched here, VoLTE is completely gone. Be careful before you could install it. I Didn't work, might not be in your case but I highly suggest to Try Pixel Experience once before you could install any other Android 8.1 ROM.
If Possible, do fix this issue... Dev
Thanks
Great News!! This is the Rom I like more... when it will be Official?

Google Playstore to work)
Flash/Install the root solution of choice (optional)
Reboot to system
The ROM has GApps persistance in between dirty flashes, so you only have to flash them once!
The root solution should be flashed together with every ROM Update!
Currently Supported Root Solutions:
Magisk stable

AICP
Android Ice Cold Project
AICP is known by everyone as the "Ice Cold Project" that started on a Desire HD years ago (2012) and since then has evolved into a mature ROM with the BEST community that you can find!!!
Until Lollipop, the Rom has always been based on AOKP. Unfortunately, since AOKP stopped development (but made a comeback later), we changed our base to CM.
With the re-brand of CM to LineageOS (LOS) we are now LOS based with some tweaks from AOSP.
If there are any bugs, either we will sort them out or the LOS team will if it concerns their code base. This rom isn't LOS supported, so no need to report errors/bugs to them!!
WARNING: Those who are on f2fs must flash retrokernel or your favourite custom kernel after flashing! Details at "Known Issues"
Feature list (rough Overview)
This ROM is heavily based on the works of @forkbomb444 and @tilaksidduram, Huge thanks to them

Kernel is in extreme alpha stage. Any bugs of the ROM is most likely caused by the kernel. They'll be solved soon. I wanted to use retrokernel but I haven't received any reply from @makorn645 yet providing the permission
1. Kernel doesn't support f2fs yet. (Added to my todo list. Fix will be up soon, you can use @makorn645's retrokernel till then. Link: https://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4411193&d=1517912742
2. Kernel doesn't support adoptable storage. I'll probably fix it but it's not a priority. You can just use retrokernel or link2sd.

Mediafire provides 10 GB storage for free only. I'd still consider uploading new builds there too

A kernel issue probably. Please flash retrokernel and report back after trying to disable lights

Thanks for reporting. I didn't get time to test it out. I will test his kernel and include it instead in next builds after trying (It'd definitely be better than this one since I made this in around 15 days. This was just an alternative )
Great work @AndroX99. AICP was one of the best nougat ROMs for our device until it became EOL. Can't wait to try this out
