[Q] Problems with Android tethering to Shield Tablet (Stock MM) - Shield Tablet Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
Since 1 week I can't connect my shield Tablet (Original One) to my phone for Android Tethering. The wifi on the Shield say connected but No internet access. I tried with another phone on Android (and another carrier) and it's the same. Finally the last test was to connect my phone to another device and it works. So the tablet never works on Android Tethering... Strange Thing, 1 week ago it worked without problem. Any idea ??
Otherwise WIFI works on airport, @ my home....
Cheers

I am experiencing the same problem using a HTC One M8. I cannot tether with any other Android phone either. This first occurred a short time ago. No explanations forthcoming

Tethering from a Huawei Mate 8 (Marshmallow) to the Shield (Nougat) works fine here (@ 65Mbps) :good:

[Q] Nokia N8 wifi hotspot not found by transformertf101. eos4 B168

Hi
I live in the UK. I have an Asus Transformer TF101 B70
I have a curious issue. I have recently upgraded from Revolver 4.2.2 to eos JDQ39 Nightly B168.
I did this because I could not get the KAT Audio app to work reliably on revolver and it is necessary for the mic.
It works perfectly on the home wifi network. For mobile internet I have been using a Nokia N8 using the Joikuspot app to create a wifi hotspot for the Transformer, Ipad and laptop with no issues.
With the revolver rom the transformer has no problem seeing and connecting to the Nokia N8 hotspot. However with the eos it does not see it at all although I checked it with a Nokia Lumia windows phone hotspot and it works fine.
Anyone have any ideas? I'm curious as to what may be the cause although I'm sure it can't be fixed in settings.
I've tried different channels on the phone. It allows 1, 6 and 11 and I've set the wifi regulatory domain on the TF to worldwide. I've also tried to manually set up a connection with static and dhcp but no luck yet my Ipad sitting right next to it gets the signal straight away.
It'll be a shame if I can't use the N8 anymore.

[Q] Inexpensive Android devices to USB tether to Asus RT-N66U router?

..
Bit of an old post, but I thought I'd give my experience as I have the RT-AC66R which is basically the same thing with AC.
Just about any Android that supports MTP should work. If you live in an area with LTE, make sure you get a device that supports it. I tether using my HTC One M7. Make sure to install the latest firmware for the router. Mine had real trouble when I updated the phone to 4.3. I just recently got the router working again.
Also make sure you get the unlimited data plan. Otherwise you'll be hitting the throttle limit within a few days.

any way to fix wifi issue? im on stock android 6.0.1 but wifi drop like hell tried rooting and flash custom rom but problem still exist even in online game :crying:

lucky you mine suffer from it a lot. tried different wifi servers. still problem exist
like for example im playing mc5 online my device repeatedly saying that there's no connection while im still connected on wifi
tried comparing side by side with my phone ( nexus 5 ) the my k1 is the only one suffering that wifi drops
WiFi is fine here too. Went fine anytime or always failing? Time to rma would say
Sent from my SHIELD Tablet K1 using XDA-Developers mobile app
On my tablet, the 5GHz signal is holding steady under Marshmallow, whereas it would drop from time to time under Lollipop.

that is my first solution. but ended up bad, i contacted the customers support but sadly this tab has been purchased in ( switzerland ) and brought here in my country ( which is not supported ) customer support said that this tab has not been officially released in her ( bad luck ) -- i ended up enduring this problem hoping for another ota for it.

my modem/wifi access point only supports 2.4ghz which is fine, since i only have 5 mbps connection with a 10 gb per day data cap
- i just notice that this tab cant receive much reception like my nexus 5
Try to change the channel in your router

[Q] HTC A9 wierd Wifi connection issue

Hi,
I have a really strange issue that is impacting my mothers A9.
She has had it for almost 6 months. Not that it changes anything but it is a Telstra branded HTC A9 and using a Vodafone sim.
The Wifi has issues connecting to a number (not all) wifi access points
This was first identified when connecting to my brothers home wifi. It could see that AP and the security code is correct (case sensitive etc) but it refused to connect.
There is no issue with wifi connectivity at her home.
I tried connecting to my HTC M8 in hotspot mode to no avail.
We then added a second AP to my brothers place and using a different AP name (same password) it worked! I thought that there may be some chipset compatibility, but that wouldnt explain why she couldnt connect to my HTC M8 in hotspot mode.
I ended up buying the same handset for my dad.
Last night he had no issues connecting to my HTC M8 in hotspot mode, but my mothers was still no connection! It tries but gives up.
Using the same Wifi security WPA-PSK I was able to connect her phone to my Iphone 7+ in hotspot mode.
This truelly has my stumped.
BTW I upgraded them both to the latest approved OS.
What do you think is up with my mothers handset?

Try a network setting reset. Go to backup and reset> reset network reset. Probably just a minor error of some sort
Or try upgrading to CyanogenMod. If you were to use it as a daily driver..use the latest nightly and do bi-weekly updates
