Rooted yesterday and have contacts problem - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note5

So, I rooted just yesterday. Didn't try to make any calls, but today when I clicked on the phone it just froze. Eventually telling me contacts is not responding.
I've wiped contacts cache and data.
I've went into twrp and wiped the cache
I've disabled all of my active xposed modules.
Should I completely removed xposed?
Are there any other options?
I made a backup of my stock system last night. If I have to flash that to repair can I just go into twrp and restore? I'm on the stock current rom.

try the xposed uninstaller then u can eleiminate if it was xposed causing the issue

Is it safe to update the phone when it is root

Is it safe to update the phone when it is root?sorry for the spelling , but if you write it indifferent whether a software update from the position of the phone or disaster recovery software with ROOT? 2.3 update has come out and my O3D once landed in the service, except that if I had a root and CWM!
I just want to update your phone now and root V10b
No you must go back to your original stock rom and unroot your phone for the update to succeed and work properly.

Pretty sure you can update if you have root, but not if you have CWM.
not really too sure about what you're saying, but did you just say 2.3 update has come out?
Has come out in October! I ask what I can only update with ROOT
Jak masz tylko rota to można(ja robiłem tak update), ale dla pewnościbym zrobiłbym unroot
If you have only root without CWm it is safe, but unroot is very fast
How can I remove CWM from my phone?
Questions or Problems Should Not Be Posted in the Development Forum
Please Post in the Correct Forums and Read THIS
Moving to General
Just Try It
I would just give it a shot - there are tutorials on how to unbrick your phone and they are relatively straight forward - lucky there are no locks on this phone so that is a good thing
So how exactly can we put the original recovery back on?
I am not encouraging anyone but in my experience I have flashed many times using LG recovery with both root and CWM without any issues.

But there might be a difference between restore and update. Update should try to keep your settings and restore should intentionally overwrite just everything in /system

Personally I dont mind about settings being kept when I flash a new ROM, I start from scratch intentionally although that would not suit alot of people who would prefer to update is does not bother me. When you flash a new ROM through CWM you wipe the data prior to flash so you are not updating anyway.
Edit: Just to be clear I am not talking about updating but performing a full recovery to the latest ROM relased by your provider, I would not suggest anyone performs an update using LG tool with CWM installed.
Sorry for my slow thinking, if i do root "superoneclick" and few days later i do unroot, is my phone will be in identical state as before root?
Ie. After unroot can i giveaway my O3D to service or with clean conscience can i do update from phone menu?
Yes you can update while rooted, but you cannot update while you are running a custom rom

No .. factory reset will not remove CWM. Factory reset = erase everything in /data (and since cache and dalvik cache are inside /data there is no need to do a wipe cache)
(full recovery using the LG tool will remove CWM)
Thank You for Your answer.
Two more question, if i can ask:
- Can I turn off "debug mode" after root?
- Is "Debug mode" use some resources, so am i speedup my phone turning off "debug mode"?
Yes u can turn off debug mode after root.
Disabling debug mode don't speed up your phone

[Q] Twrp screen turns on turns off turns on infinitum... Please help.

Please help. Had pacman running great, thought that I could go back to my previous ROM and use titanium backup to backup game data so I don't have to start over. I made a backup right before going to my po previous ROM. Needless to say I couldn't get the game data. When I restored pacman,it was glitchy.programs would not open or just quit .so I figured reinstall start over. I get the rom loaded and I make a mistake on which backup to restore apps from. So. I pull battery do it again, but it wasn't right more of the same problems. So I figured just use the factory reset feature in pacman to start over. I do it and leave the room. When I come back the twrp screen would come on then turn off then turn back on infinitum. What can I do if twrp just flashes and I many get in.

Your twrp setup is corrupted. There is no easy way to fix this except to delete the twrp folder which may contain backups. Flash philz recovery of you want to fresh flash a rom.
Thanks,p so you're saying
Thanks. So you're saying I need to do this with add, since it won't boot properly? What's better about Phil's recovery and will I be able to load my backups, which are on the ext SD card and I made such tarp?
We can fix twrp once you're able to boot up again. Flash philz and any custom rooted rom first.
---------- Post added at 06:58 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:53 PM ----------
Then with a root browser like the one in rom toolbox, delete the .twrps file from the twrp folder on the sdcard. This should reset the settings so you can use twrp again to get to your backups.

Phone is stuck in bootloop without even doing anything!!!

Please help me!!!
I had flashed Resurrection Remix OS, I don't remember which build. It was working fine, no hiccups. But suddenly today it switched off. When I restarted the phone, it was stuck in a boot loop for almost an hour. I was able to boot into recovery. Now I have no idea what to do because I can't perform a factory reset because I don't have any backup of my data. Will dirty flashing a new build help?
Any solutions? Anything will help me right now.

Yes,dirty flashing a new build will work fine
Don't forget to create a Nandroid backup first!
Sometimes happened to me on latest build of RR also. Sadly dirty flashing for me didn't work, clean flash needed.
UPDATE: I flashed a newer version of RemixOS, and it is still stuck in bootloop. I cannot perform a clean install because the WhatsApp conversations are important and I can't afford to lose them. Any other ideas?
Create a nandroid backup, wipe everything thing except internal storage, flash the same rom, restore data from the nandroid backup?

---------- Post added at 10:50 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:49 AM ----------
1. Boot successfully, restore your messages which are important, and save them/back them up to another device.
2. Then do another full TWRP backup of your device. Now you will have the first save, with your messages but bad/corrupted other data, and a clean system save with your messages.
3. Then restore 1/2 of your TWRP data, say apps from A-M, reboot and see if it boots correctly. If so do a full TWRP save again.
4. Repeat #3, restoring 1/4 of the left over data from TWRP, say N-U, see it it reboots correctly...
It may take some time, but you will eventually identify the corrupted app data.
Another way, before the process above you could also go into your apps, and write down each app and the date and time they were last written to or updated. Chances are those last few written/ypdated to are the one/ones which corrupted your setup.
So doing steps 1 and 2, above and then restore all your TWRP Data, except for the last 3-5 apps and data with the most recent writes/updates. If that boots successively and correctly, you are closer, faster, to id'ing the culprit.
It's a pain.

Endless boot animation

Hi,
I had a 7.1.1 custom rom (dont remenber the name) and today i decided to get a new one.
I tried TugaPower N31 first. I did a factory reset, a data/system/cache format, flashed FW, flashed rom and GAPPs. Then i rebooted. It got to the boot animation, after ~5/7 min the screen turned all black (it had some light). Tried twice, same result.
I thought it was a rom's problem or firmware problem. So i tried LineageOS. Did the same exact steps. It gets to boot animation and stays there forever. Tried twice, same result.
Decided to try Carbon ROM, and same problem.
I didnt make a nand backup, so i cant restore to a previous image. What can i do? :/
Thank you
Did you try stock COS? Same issue?
Usually when stuff like this happens to me I flash stock ROM from fastboot and then 99% of the times the phone comes back to life and I can flash what I need later.

Which gapps and firmware u flashed? Actually u don't need to flash new firmware for migrating from one rom to other. Just need to flash rom, gapps after doing clean flash.
Again gapps are also important actually open gapps micro will work for 7.1.1 but for 7.1.2 u need to flash slim gapps revisited 7.1.2. If u have any backup just restore it agin!

Its just a bootloop issue he doesn't need to go back to stock for this which is so tedious and time consuming!

You described it as a stuck on boot not bootloop. Afaik a bootloop also reboots the phone and reinitializes the boot sequence. And usually to fix it you just need to wipe dalvik.

Soft brick after restoring backup with TWRP

Ok... As you can see from this thread,
https://forum.xda-developers.com/on...en-restore-t3804734/post76832485#post76832485
I soft bricked my phone after trying to restore a backup in official TWRP.
I followed this tutorial https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6/how-to/oneplus-6-unlock-bootloader-flash-twrp-t3792643
And jumped over to this tutorial https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6/how-to/guide-how-to-install-official-twrp-t3801558 per this post in the tutorial https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=76564290&postcount=5 note that this post points to another way of getting TWRP. The link I went to is how to install OFFICIAL TWRP.
And jumped back to the original tutorial for the rest. I'm scared to death now to try and test the restore functionality in TWRP. Has anyone successfully restored a backup? If so, what steps did they take to get the backup and what steps did they take restoring backup? What partitions did the check.mark during backup and what partitions did they check mark during restore? And do you need to do anything with changing the a/b slots????
Edited to add correct link to install official TWRP.

Flash stock ROM in TWRP, flash TWRP again. It won't touch data partition but you can restore just your data partition from your TWRP backup. Boot into system once, then reboot recovery and flash magisk if you want root. All modules you have will be back and active after that.
---------- Post added at 01:34 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:33 AM ----------
On the off chance TWRP says there is no OS after flashing stock ROM and TWRP, ignore messages and boot anyway. It will restore your phone without losing all data.

Ok. Just tried what tdamocles did. But I've been wiping before restore. I then just restore and select system, boot, and data. I did not reflash TWRP. Rebooted and everything was good. Still had root and didn't need to reflash magisk. Was also able to reboot back into TWRP, so there was no need to reflash TWRP. But.... I think that is due to not flashing the stock room first. I'm assuming that if you reflash stock that you will indeed have to reflash TWRP. So, conclusion... If you restore system, boot, and data then no need to reflash TWRP and in my case no need to reflash magisk. Again, this is without lock screen security. My next test will be with lock screen security unless someone posts a negative result before I do.

Nice.
I have restored from twrp a couple times now with no problem.. I did get the message saying can't mount system or something like that, ok I went into the mount options and mounted system after that the restore worked perfectly and I could boot back into the rom and back into twrp after.
Restored mine yesterday too, all files checked when backup, deleted lockscreen settings before, few bootloops at the beginning, until phone changed slot, then booted into system. Cheers!

Not necessary to check all partitions. This only results in a huge nandroid file.
