Hi. I don't have a Wi-Fi and sometimes when I want a game I install the apk and download the data files from the computer.
For example, I installed Asphalt 6 and placed the data files in Android>Data, but the game still wants to download over 500mb of files. I tried both in the phone and on the SD card. And yes, I follow instructions as to where to put the files (some games need to be placed in Data, others in Obb file)
Also, how can I keep data files on SD card (games like GTA Vice City only want to install on the phone and I cannot move them on the SD card).
Please suggest some possible solution, bearing in mind that I do not have root. Maybe I will root someday, but not now.
Are you sure you placed the data in the right folder? For moving apps to the SD card use AppMgr III.

Yes, I double chedked the folder. And I have App2SD Pro.
First of all, clarification:
1.There's a lot of guides showing how to bind large games' .obb files and their respective folders/directories to external sd card. This guide will show you how to install these games even if they are bigger than your internal memory. For example, you got 4 Gb internal SD, on ROM goes 2.5 Gb, and for all your apps, pictures and videos goes 1.5 Gb. It fills really fast, so if you want some HD game, say FIFA 14, you can't install it. Here my guide jumps in.2.When a program binds game's .obb data directory (if you have enough memory free on internal SD for the game to install in the first place), its .obb file is indeed transfered on external SD card, but often in memory status there's a bug which still shows it on your internal memory and it is full, but it is not case here.
You need:
1.Rooted phone, Install from unknown sources allowed
2.FolderMount installed (didn't try with Directory Bind yet)
3.Root file manager like Root explorer installed
4.Game you want to install with .apk +data folder downloaded on your PC
5.Write down or somehow mark names of game's data folder and it's .obb file
So, let's start..
1.Find out where should be game's data folder (in most cases it's Android/obb folder)
2.Copy apk on SD root and folder with .obb files on external SD where it should be installed by default
* make Android/obb folder on external SD if you didn't already* for real if it was to be installed on internal memory the path would be: storage/emulated/0/Android/obb/yourgamefolderwithobb3.Once copying is done, navigate with your root browser on INTERNAL SD, and make folder named exactly as your game, the one that you wrote down, on exact location, for example storage/emulated/0/Android/obb/ and inthere you make this yourgamefolderwithobb folder (case sensitive!)
4.Now, you get inside this folder that you made with your root file manager, here it is ˝yourgamefolderwithobb˝ without quotes and inthere you make new file named exactly as your game's .obb file, with .obb extension, and save it, for example ˝main.128yourgame.obb˝ without quotes - case sensitive
* if for any reason you can't save your new file, then you make it on your external SD's root and copy where it belongs on internal SD, and if even this isn't possible, then make this file on your pc - new .txt document> save as>all files>exactly named as your .obb and then copy it via USB on your internal SD on the right place, in the right folder.5.When all previous steps are done, navigate to external SD root and install your game's .apk . When instalation is done, exit your root file manager.
* DO NOT OPEN GAME ONCE INSTALLED, FOR IT'S NOT OVER YET! Just exit6.Go to your MountFolder. On the upper left corner next to ˝List of pairs˝ headline touch menu icon.
7.Once menu open, touch ˝Apps analyzer˝ option. After short scaning, a list of your apps will appear. Search this list for app you just installed. If it's on the list, so far everything is OK, but if it isn't... you probably messed something up, see if you skipped a step or two click back button.
8.Open FolderMount again if it exits. Click ˝+˝ option at the top
9.Give name to your game (gta, tenis...) by filling ˝name˝ gap
10.Click ˝Source˝ gap and navigate to internal SD in the game's directory that you made in step 3! By clicking ˝Source˝ you should already be in /storage/emulated/0, it will say at the top the name and the path of your current directory. Once you're in directory you made, click ✓ option at the upper right
11.A pop-up will appear saying ˝Would you like me to create the destination folder automatically? You can choose a custom destination by clicking no˝ Click NO
12.Click ˝Destination˝ gap and navigate in directory that you copied from your PC on EXTERNAL SD in step 2! Once there click ✓ option again
13.You're back in menu with Name,Source and Destination gaps which you filled. Touch ✓ again.
*I didn't try to tick ˝exclude from media scanning˝, you shouldn't too 'till you check if everything is working as it should. Try experimenting later.14.New pop-up will appear asking ˝Your source directory is not empty. Would you like me to move files to the destination(and overwrite existing files)?˝ Click NO again
15.You're in main menu in FolderMount, there's your game's name that you gave it earlier, next to it is grey pin. Touch that pin once and it will turn green.
* in FolderMount after every reboot a pin will turn grey. Just click it before trying to play game because it will not see .obb files and will try to download them again.16.Exit FolderMount and PLAY YOUR GAME!!!
EDIT:
There is a lot of devices, every of them has different internal and external SD paths, be sure to know them well. The best way to find this out is to go in FolderMount, try to create new bind, and by tapping Source and Destination gap see the path for each SD in the upper part of the screen.
Some SD card locations on various devices:
/mnt/sdcard0 - internal and /mnt/sdcard1 - external;
/mnt/sdcard - internal and /mnt/extSD - external

I will most certainly have to try this on my tablet! Thank you very much
It's August 2015 and here's my case and I have already been through the threads and confirmed that none of them could answer my question.
I hope some android developers could really help me out.
What happened: I deleted the .android_secure folder (what a mistake!!!)
Noted that ".android_secure stores encrypted versions of the apps moved to external SD card. You'll have probably to reinstall some apps" - by a member of xda
Before I introduce you to my phone's problem, here's the background:
1. my phone model: HTC ONE XL
2. rooted, running clean ROM, android 4.0.1
3. I have many of my apps moved to the SD card(internal storage) before the deletion
4. I notice that whenever I move an app to the SD card(internal storage), I would have some (BUT NOT ALL) mass of the app moved. ie. some mass of the app will still stay in phone storage
5. I have some apps in my launcher as "shortcuts" before the deletion
Here's the situation after the deletion:
1. The "shortcuts" are still on my launcher, showing their icons normally but when I click on them, a toast shows "application not installed"
2. I checked my phone storage and found that there's no change in the space occupied by apps. That means the phone storage part of the mass of the apps are still there.
CONCLUSION: although I have deleted the .android_secure folder, the apps that I have moved to the SD card have their remains in the phone storage occupying space and that is totally troll and useless because I cannot use the app with only its remains.
3. The apps that had been moved to the SD card previously no longer exist in the app drawer after the deletion
WHAT I TRIED: I reinstalled the apps with only their remains in the phone storage in order to use the apps again but the newly installed one did not overwrite the old data, so now my phone's phone storage has both
1. old app remains (some parts of mass of the apps), which is totally junk *old app=new app
2. new app mass
My question: How can I identify/remove the old app remains?
I sincerely hope that some android experts could help with my problem thanks
I appreciate your explanitation ofvyour problem. You can usw clean mastervto clear app junk or do a factory reset.

Your method does not work, they aren't just app junk but something more intrinsic.

Even the factory reset option also not helped

Nope, because what I am looking for is a solution WITHOUT factory reset.
its /SDCard/.android_secure
Its not a folder its a file.
In my samsung galaxy core 2 i moves some apps to external storege and some n intermal storage then too .android_secure appeared on external sd card and is of 0.00 bytes.
I deleted that file but my device is workimg properly

You're wrong, ".android_secure" is definitely a folder, which contains lots of .asec files
Hmm it could be a matter of android version.
Tell me which vwrsion of android you arevrunning

Uninstall those apps and do a reboot and after reboot install these apps again. I tried this on my device and it worked.
It should also work on your device
Listen Carefully Senior
He can't uninstall the apps because the apps are from his friend's phone, who rented his micro sd card and backed up his apps to it. Soo What he's trying to say is. "What you did was store the app to your micro sd card and then store it back to your phone." SIMPLE RIGHT?
But since that is the same phone the file or folder (.android_secure) has been removed by default because theres no need to protect an app that isn't there any more. SO WHATS THE PROBLEM?
His friend, the guy who rented the micro sd card, has moved his apps from his phone to the micro sd card and then gave it back to this idiot GphonePrince. SO HERE'S THE BIG DIFFERENCE droid_god.
droid_god
Your phone removed the .android_secure file from your external storage because your phone recognizes what was writen to it. Your phone wrote it in the first place. It happens when you move any app to your external_storage.
GphonePrince
Your phone cannot remove .android_secure folder because your phone cannot recognize what apps your buddy moved to your micro sd card. Your phone is not the owner of the apps stored to the micro sd card.
SO WHAT'S HAPPENING IS
Your phones saying, "whats this ****?"
Your micro sd card is saying, "bro don't touch that, someone forgot it and I'm going to keep it safe until they pick it up you can't just take it."
Your phone agrees with your micro sd card and now your hoping for a little miracle from the xda team
if this is correct let us know so we can get you started on renting sd cards out forever

Hello guys
i am Nikhil and recently purchased a new moto g3 (2015)
i am unable to get my main storage to be my sd card like it was in my Lumia 535 as all my media from wats app is getting saved in my phone memory
i have tried removing the cad and puting it back in to see if it detects but no use
could anyone please assist me/ explain what i am doing wrong
Thanks and Regards

There is a reason why phone memory is called so. You cannot move like the whole whatsapp folder to the sdCard. However, you may use apps like App2SD to move some data onto the sdCard.

Ohh I see
Thanks sir
u may try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/2015-moto-g/general/tutorial-link2sd-make-space-internal-t3195770
Android M will allow this.
if android m can allow than it is great news
Try xCD it helps me with large games from gameloft, it might help you too.
It's an Xposed Module
It allows you to move folders from your internal storage and place them on your external storage
I use it to move my obb game data from sdcard0/android/obb to sdcard1/android/obb and its been working like a charm.
Just install, pick the apps or games you want to move folders for, then move the folder to the same directory on your sdcard, if the folder isn't there, make it.
Copy the data to it, delete it from the internal storage (sdcard0), and reboot or soft reboot, and watch the magic happen

I got an ascend mate 7, and I've been using a lot of apks to move that OBB folder to the SD card and I can't make it work not even with rooted device. Now I bought chaos of ring III and I couldn't even installed it because FF IX is using all my internal memory not even with folder mount I can't use it... and several apks to move that folder and make some space in the internal memory.
Does the SD required anything special? any format 2 partition, I don't know.
Thanks guys in this case I'm a little bit desperate, I hope you understand what I mean.
Thanks.
No way to make it work so sad..
Well. There is an option on the mate 7 which you can choose where do you want the phone to write. I have chosen the external memory. You don't have to be root to do this. I also have installed heavy games like final fantasy 9(3gb). And many more. Just look for that option on storage.

If you choose external memory as your writable disc. All the games data and obb will go to the external. I have a 64gb card running heavy games with no problem.
But if you chose external memory everything will go there and I don't want that.
I went to apk and I moved it to SD card already but it doesn't change anything. I mean it moves the apk that's all. 32mb.
Any other option idea or something?
Thanks.
Well that's the only way to move data and obb.... To the sd as far I know... Also with link to sd pro... But you have to make a partition on the sd. That should help.
