The whole thing was reversed in mine. If I clicked install, reboot was triggered and to confirm flash I had to swipe the blue twrp 3.0.2 bar in reverse and many more. Sorry couldn't take pics. And I won't flash it again.
I opened your recovery.img and saw, you didn't port it properly. You didn't change default.prop file. So my phone was being recognized as umi plus. It gave me lot of trouble to flash stock firmware.

Sorry abt it

[Tested]How to Root the Moto X Play

I. Before You Begin
1. This could void the warranty of your device. We won’t be held responsible for anything that happens from doing this tutorial so please proceed at your own risk.
2. You need a Windows based PC in order to do this procedure.
3. You should have Motorola USB drivers installed on your PC. If you don’t, install them first.
4. This should erase all the data stored on your device. So, please backup everything that you’ll need.
5. This should also flash a custom recovery on your device.
How to Root the Motorola Moto X Play
Root the Moto X Play
To root the device, you’ll first unlock the bootloader, flash a custom recovery, and then flash SuperSU using the custom recovery to achieve root access. Here’s how:
II. Downloading Required Files
1. Download Fastboot and save it to your desktop.
Fastboot
2. Download TWRP Recovery and save it to your desktop.
TWRP Recovery
3. Download SuperSU and save it to your desktop.
SuperSU
III. Unlocking the Bootloader on the Motorola Moto X Play
1. Extract files from Fastboot over to your desktop by right-clicking on it and selecting Extract here.
2. Turn off your device.
3. Turn your device back on in fastboot mode. To do that, hold down Volume DOWN and Power buttons together for a few seconds.
4. Your device should now be in fastboot mode.
5. Plug in your device to your PC using a USB cable.
6. Launch a Command Prompt Window on your desktop by holding down Shift and right-clicking anywhere on the screen and selecting Open command window here.
7. Type in the following command into the Command Prompt Window and hit Enter:
Code:
fastboot oem get_unlock_data
8. You should see a string of text on your screen. Copy it to your clipboard removing any spaces so that it is a long string of text.
9. Head over to the Motorola Bootloader Unlock website and get yourself logged-in. If you don’t have an account with them, create one now.
10. One of the steps on that website will ask you to paste the string of text. Just paste the string that you’ve already copied to your clipboard and follow the on-screen instructions.
11. You’ll receive an unlock key to your email address. Copy that key to your clipboard.
12. Now, type in the following command replacing KEY with the actual unlock key that you’ve copied to your clipboard and hit Enter:
Code:
fastboot oem unlock KEY
13. Wait for it to unlock the bootloader on your device.
14. When it’s done unlocking the bootloader, reboot your device by issuing the following command:
Code:
fastboot reboot
15. Your device should reboot.
And there you go.
The bootloader on your Motorola Moto X Play is now unlocked, and you can now flash a custom recovery on your device. Here’s how you can do that:
IV. Flashing a Custom Recovery on the Motorola Moto X Play
1. Turn off your device.
2. Reboot your device into fastboot mode by holding down Volume DOWN and Power buttons together for a few seconds.
3. Connect your device to your PC using a USB cable.
4. Open a Command Prompt Window on your desktop. To do that, hold down Shift and right-click anywhere on your screen and select Open command window here.
5. Type in the following command into the Command Prompt Window and hit Enter. Make sure to replace recovery.img with the actual name of the recovery image that you have downloaded.
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
6. Wait for it to flash a custom recovery on your device.
7. When it’s done flashing a recovery, reboot your device by using the following command:
Code:
fastboot reboot
8. Your device should reboot.
Your Motorola Moto X Play now has a custom recovery using which you can gain root access on your device. Here’s how:
V. Rooting the Motorola Moto X Play
1. Connect your device to your PC using a USB cable.
2. Copy SuperSU .zip from your desktop over to the internal SD card storage on your device.
3. Unplug your device from your PC when SuperSU is copied.
4. Turn off your device.
5. Turn your device back on in recovery mode. To do that, hold down Volume DOWN and Power buttons together.
6. Your device should reboot into bootloader mode.
7. Select Recovery from the options appearing on your screen.
8. Select Install in the recovery menu.
9. Choose SuperSU .zip to be installed on your device.
10. Tap on Swipe to Confirm Flash to confirm flash.
11. Wait for it to flash SuperSU on your device.
12. When it’s done flashing SuperSU, reboot your device by selecting Reboot followed by System in the recovery menu.
13. Your device should reboot.

There was trouble with opening bootloader. I used a opening-tool, which said, that the device bootloader is now open - but it wasn´t. Everything´s ok now. I managed bootloader-opening with cmd.exe.
I think this thread should be titled "tested" instead of "untested".... works great! thanks

Why not? You can get the better system, called CyanogenMod . And after i tested my phone for 3 weeks i dont need warrenty. Works perfect, and cm 12.1 with a new kernel is fantastic.

Hi Rahul, Do you mean I should wait for the marshmallow update to be done and after that I can root or should I wait till the warranty period gets over?
If you root you will be able to get any marshmallow rom that is available for the phone anyway. So don't worry about that nonsense. The warranty however is a different issue. It's all about whether you see the 'risk' as worth it.
Work !!
I root it in ten minute, thanks.
Can it be changed to say 'tested and works great', as it does.

Locked bootloader and root

Hello there,
Im new to huawei and i was wondering if i could get root without unlocking the bootloader like i did on my LG g4.
I own a mtl10 with 5.1.1.
Tried kingroot but no luck.
Inviato dal mio HUAWEI MT7-TL10 utilizzando Tapatalk
No exploits at the moment for lollipop without bootloader unlock
i managed to get my code finally! could you please point me to the best lollipop guide to root?
First off, download all the tools you'll need (this includes adb, fastboot, custom recovery and stock recovery to go back, and supersu) here: adb_fastboot_twrp_su.zip
Extract the files to a folder on your computer (eg. C:\ADB) and open command prompt to the path (type "CD C:\ADB" without quotes to get there)
Next connect your phone to PC/laptop with USB cable & make sure USB debugging is enabled (Settings - Developer Options - USB Debugging - On) and while you're at it you should also copy the su.zip file to your phone (internal memory or SD card is fine)
Now enter the command "ADB DEVICES" and with any luck you should see something like this:
Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.10240]
(c) 2015 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.
C:\WINDOWS\system32>cd c:\adb
c:\adb>adb devices
* daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
* daemon started successfully *
List of devices attached
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx device
c:\adb>
Click to collapse
If it shows a device then you are good to continue
Type "ADB REBOOT BOOTLOADER" and press enter, your phone will reboot to the screen showing you the bootloader is locked.
Type "FASTBOOT OEM UNLOCK xxx" (where xxx is your much longer unlock code you have obtained, hopefully correctly else it won't work)
If successful you should now have unlocked bootloader.
Now you need to install the recovery, type "FASTBOOT FLASH RECOVERY twrp_2.8.7.0_mate7_5.1.img"
If successful you'll see: writing recovery, OKAY, finished
Now type "FASTBOOT REBOOT RECOVERY" and your device will reboot to TWRP, from here you can "Flash ZIP" and point it to the su.zip file saved on your device, once done you can reboot your device and enjoy the benefits of a rooted device.
NOTE: if you plan on installing other ORIGINAL device roms or installing OTA updates in future, you must be on the stock recovery, I've included it in the upload I did for you in case you need it ("FASTBOOT FLASH RECOVERY recovery_stock.img"), also note that installing another rom will remove your root and you'll have to go through all this again (with the exception of unlocking the bootloader, that is only a once off task)
Disclaimer: A good deal of this is coming from memory of when I did it, if I made a mistake I welcome corrections. Don't hold me responsible for problems from my guide, its still your device and you should take care in what you do with it.

[GUIDE] How to flash a custom recovery and root a Nokia 6 Retail Phone

WARNING: This method currently doesn't work on Nokia 6 TA-1000 with latest Android O Update! Finding workaround.
Workaround found on leaked Android 8.1 Update, with Magisk Systemless Root Method.
ROOT YOUR PHONE MAY VOID YOUR WARRANTY, DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK
You can download new recovery from this post: https://forum.xda-developers.com/nokia-6/how-to/nokia-6-ta-1000-homebrew-stock-android-t3752006
Changes in new TWRP Recovery 3.2.1-0:
1. Add English Interface.
2. Use Magisk ROOT instead of SuperSU ROOT.
3. You can backup EFS. However you can't backup modem or the procedure will break.
Thanks to @xinkid 's effort, we can finally root Nokia 6 on Android Oreo again.
Procedure for non TA-1000 users:
0. Backup your phone and remove your lock screen password before proceed! If your phone get stuck at "Powered by Android" splash after the procedure, you may need to format userdata.
1. Sideload the PLE-372B ota package in recovery, which you can download from here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/nokia-6/help/nokia-6-ota-update-ddls-t3721424
Refer this guide's part 2 to downgrade.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/nokia-6/how-to/guide-upgrade-downgrade-nougat-oreo-t3752393
2. Flash the service bootloader and grant service permission
Reboot to bootloader, then flash the service bootloader with following commands. Service bootloader file (D1C-emmc_appsboot.mbn attached in this topic)
Code:
fastboot oem dm-verity [md5_of_your_device_serial_number]
fastboot flash aboot D1C-emmc_appsboot.mbn
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot oem dm-verity [md5_of_your_device_serial_number]
For example, if your serial number is PLEABCD123456789, and the md5 checksum of your serial number is 5f47b9a8dc1da1873c12945cf806691e, then type this command:
Code:
fastboot oem dm-verity 5f47b9a8dc1da1873c12945cf806691e
fastboot flash aboot D1C-emmc_appsboot.mbn
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot oem dm-verity 5f47b9a8dc1da1873c12945cf806691e
You can google a website to calculate md5 checksum of a string.
3. Reflash newer firmware basis to your phone except aboot
After you grant service permission, Extract the newer one OTA package on your PC, in this case, PLE-558B.
Everything you need are placed at firmware-update folder that you extracted.
Take PLE-558B for example, type these commands (commands need to be changed if newer firmware released):
Code:
fastboot flash sbl1 D1C-0-558B-sbl1.mbn
fastboot flash keymaster D1C-0-558B-keymaster.mbn
fastboot flash devcfg D1C-0-558B-devcfg.mbn
fastboot flash cmnlib64 D1C-0-558B-cmnlib64.mbn
fastboot flash rpm D1C-0-558B-rpm.mbn
fastboot flash tz D1C-0-558B-tz.mbn
fastboot flash cmnlib D1C-0-558B-cmnlib.mbn
fastboot flash modem D1C-0-558B-NON-HLOS.bin
fastboot flash dsp D1C-0-558B-adspso.bin
fastboot flash default_nv D1C-0-558B-NV-default.mbn
fastboot flash persist D1C-0-558B-00WW-persist.img
fastboot flash hwcfg D1C-0-558B-hwcfg.img
fastboot flash mdtp D1C-0-558B-00WW-mdtp.img
fastboot flash systeminfo fver
fastboot flash sec D1C-0-558B-sec.dat
fastboot flash cda PLE-00WW-013-cda.img
You'll also need the boot img in the extracted ota package:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
Then flash the custom recovery:
fastboot flash recovery nokia-6-ta-1000-8_0-twrp3.2.1-7to-recovery-magisk-root-2018.3.15.img
Power off your phone (case sensitive). Disconnect your phone after execute this command:
fastboot oem HALT
4. Connect your phone to a charger. When charging animation appears, press and hold Volume Up and Power until you see "7to.com" logo. Tap the white cog to choose English language, tap Advanced - Magisk Root, and wait for the procedure complete.
========================SEPARATOR====================
This new guide is only based and tested on Nokia 6 TA-1000. Non TA-1000 (e.g. TA-1021) users need to find their own old OTA package to downgrade.
1. Downgrade the bootloader according to this guide: https://forum.xda-developers.com/nokia-6/how-to/guide-upgrade-downgrade-nougat-oreo-t3752393
If you've flashed my homebrew Android O firmware, skip this step.
2. Use old method below to flash the new recovery again. You must use this recovery, otherwise you can't mount and root.
If you've flashed my homebrew Android O firmware, type this command will allow you to flash recovery:
Code:
fastboot-android oem dm-verity (your_serial_number's_md5_checksum)
3. Use old method below to enter recovery. To load English interface, tap the white cog on the top-right corner, then tap "English" and OK button, just wait few seconds.
4. Tap "Advanced" - "Magisk ROOT" and swipe.
5. If you meet recovery loop after rooted, flash the package misc_initial.zip attached below to escape from recovery loop.
That's it. It's not recommended to receive any newer OTA update since it will overwrite bootloader to patched state.
If you're using TA-1000, you can also try to flash Android 8.1 Homebrew Firmware before rooting.
I'm sorry if you found the guide looks confusing.
Following method for Nougat is archived, only for reference.
Yesterday, I got my own Nokia 6 Retail Phone. Since I’ve already rooted Nokia 5, 6 and 8 Prototype, now it’s time to find out how to root retail Nokia 6 without involving risky Qualcomm EDL Mode.
It works on any variant of Nokia 6 in theory, but I only tested it on D1C/TA-1000.
If there’s a custom recovery for Nokia 2/3/5 released, the guide also works on them. But I’ve tested it on a Nokia 8 retail phone, it doesn’t work on it.
To Nokia 7 and 8 Users, You may want to read this topic: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3729396

First, you need to download OFW of Nokia 6, install OST LA and patch it.
You can download them from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/no...ia-8-official-firmware-links-updated-t3678487
(Although the link is for Nokia 8, firmware for Nokia 6 is still available)

If you own an unlocked prototype device, just skip to step 6.
Click to collapse
1. Open OST LA from INSTALLATION DIRECTORY DIRECTLY instead of Start Menu.
2. Load your OFW you downloaded with extension name nb0.
3. Power off your phone, then connect it to your PC. This will boot your phone to “Download mode” directly, in fact it’s fastboot mode.
4. Click “Edit Phone Info” on OST LA. This will load a service purposed bootloader. When your phone reboots and re-enters the Download mode, the service purposed bootloader is now loaded.
5. You can close OST LA when it prompts “Boot FTM mode fail”, or just kill it in task manager if it’s not responding.
6. Open a command prompt or PowerShell in OST LA Installation Directory, then execute this command to flash a custom recovery:
Code:
.\fastboot-android flash recovery E:\recovery.img
I assume that you put the custom recovery in drive E and named as recovery.img.
You can also use your own fastboot if you want, but I’ll prefer the one provided along with OST LA.
I used the recovery from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/no...veryteamwim-recovery-project-nokia-6-t3650499
7. Type this command but do not execute right now:
Code:
.\fastboot-android reboot
8. Now this step is a little tricky. Press and hold [Volume Up] and [Power] on your phone, then execute the command above at the same time. DO NOT RELEASE both keys on your phone until your phone entered the custom recovery.
9. Now your phone has entered a custom recovery. In this example, we’re using TWRP from Chinese 7to forum, only Chinese is available. I believe most of members on XDA can’t read Chinese, so I’ll attach screenshots. Simply tap “Advanced” – “SuperSU ROOT” will root your phone. If you prefer your own root zip update package, tap “Install Zip” then flash your own zip package in your storage, or tap “Advanced” – “ADB Sideload” then use ADB to sideload a zip package.
You can install the Materialized Theme for TWRP to get English interface from https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/themes/theme-twrp-materialised-dark-light-play-t2915584 by @z31s1g

Currently, DO NOT FLASH Magisk, or your phone will brick as Qualcomm 900E.
You can only use Magisk Root method in latest Android O Update, which I'll cover later.

10. After your phone rooted, you can reboot your phone. DO NOT INSTALL ANY OTA UPDATES OR YOUR PHONE WILL GET STUCK AT STOCK RECOVERY, but I’ll recommend you to disable automatic update in settings.
That’s wraps up the whole guide. Please do feedback if there’s something wrong.

If you're running Windows Vista or Windows 7, you can open a command prompt from installation directory by click right button on the mouse while holding Shift key on the keyboard.
If you're running Windows 8/8.1 or Windows 10, you can open a command prompt or PowerShell from the left corner "File" button. Administrators privilege is optional.
Also, as I mentioned:
You can also use your own fastboot if you want.

IDK but you should have change/put the title of this topic as Nokia 6 - TA 1000 (Chinese variant) rather than Retail Phone.
Well, getting root is definitely a temptation but since I'm just a noob and the HMD hasn't release any official firmware/tool yet to recover the phone if thing goes wrong, I guess I'll wait a little bit longer then.

As I mentioned on the topic, it works on any variant, not only China Variant TA-1000 and Hong Kong Variant TA-1003.
@same6630 tested on a TA-1021 which is a global variant.

HMD released official firmware of Nokia 6 of course, and it's needed to flash a recovery.

Did someone successfully rooted his Nokia 6 TA-1033?
So just to be clear before I do this to my TA-1000; how do I go about to update it later if I want to update it? For example, my TA-1000 still don't have the 7.1.2 update, and the 8.0 update coming later would be something I want as well.
Do I just update through zip files, or will I simply not be able to update?

How to recover from a bricked Mix 2S?

I purchased the Mix 2S in China and waited 15 days to unlock the bootloader. After the waiting period, I attempted to install the Global MIUI 10 8.6.14 ROM and the new system would "fail to find devices" and constantly reboot itself after the security pattern was entered.
Wipe Data was used in MI-Recovery 3.0 and it now only reboots to the MI-Recovery 3.0 main menu!
Connect with MIAssistant does not work since my PC does not recognize that the phone is connected. Attempts to boot to TWRP recovery from adb result in the message: The system has been destroyed, Press power button to shutdown. MiFlashtool 207.4.25.0 shows Erase boot error after attempting to flash the official 9.5 China ROM or Global 9.5 ROM. The only hopeful thing is that it still enters FASTBOOT when the power and lower volume buttons are pressed.
Is there anything that can be done here to restore the phone to its factory state? I want to start over and try this again with the Official Global 9.5 ROM instead of the Global MIUI 10 8.6.14 ROM.
As you can imagine, this has kept me up for hours trying to fix. Any help, suggestions, advice would be so appreciated at this time.
Flash any fastboot ROM via fastboot. The beta is a zip for recovery installation. You could try fastboot boot recovery.img and transfer the zip again and flash it once more before rollback.

When I try fastboot boot recovery.img, I get this screen of death: The system has been destroyed, Press power button to shutdown.
Do an unlock in MI Unlock tool again and repeat the proces.
You locked the bootloader when you flashed global rom. Unlock it again and flash again. But this time select the "erase all" option and NOT "erade and lock". (Take a look at the bottom right of the MI flash tool.

WOW. I forgot about the unlock tool. When I unlocked it again, this time it booted up properly to the NEW MIUI 10 ROM! I don't understand what caused it to work, and I'm not complaining. Thanks for your help, XDA!
If you have the Chinese version you can't relock the booth loader. Because you get in a booth loop.
I am having the same issue
I did everything exactly the same as mentioned by the other gentleman.
My boot loader is locked in the process of flashing the beta global rom.
Now when I try to unlock the boot loader via the unlocked tool, it says my mi account is not bind with the phone.
There is not way I am able to unlock the boot loader. I am not able to boot the phone.
And without unlocking the boot loader it is nt allowing me to flash any rom.
Kindly help.

but i check clean all and lock, then flash complete (mix 2s reboot)
6. display show "The system has been destroyed" (reboot loop)
7. when boot to fastboot can't flash or boot to another image (in pc show : command is not allowed Lock State)
8. then i connect to mi tool for unlock bootloader (in mi tool : show you must Enable Developer Options and USB debugging on)

ROOT/MAGISK Emui 9

Installing Magisk on Android 9/Emui 9 is straight forward and simple.
This is tested and working on my CMR-W09 9.0.1.160.
Follow @topjohnwu clear guide for EMUI 9 and you can't go wrong - https://topjohnwu.github.io/Magisk/install.html
You can use @Apo11on root guide https://forum.xda-developers.com/mediapad-m5/how-to/root-root-guide-huawei-mediapad-m5-t3786157 to find your tablets firmware, how to extract the img and patching the file via Magisk. Remember for EMUI 9 you need the RECOVERY_RAMDIS.img NOT the RAMDISK.img
If your having trouble finding your devices firmware, download Firmware Finder for Huawei from the Google Play Store and find the firmware relevant to your device. Once downloaded (it'll be 3GB plus), transfer over the file to your pc and then use Huawei update extractor to get RECOVERY_RAMDIS.img
Once the file has been installed via ADB, boot into recovery (not erecovery). The tablet appears to boot into recovery but instead boots straight to the home screen. It still boots if you forget to boot via recovery mode but without root/Magisk.
As stated by topjohn, you lose recovery but the process can be reversed by reflashing the stock RECOVERY_RAMDIS.img
Rather than ask others to share patched img's, it's worth doing it yourself as you can learn how to get yourself out of any potential issues.
It is important you read and understand topjohns guide regarding what file to download and what partition to flash it as it is different than installing Magisk on EMUI 8.
Good luck

Do you have to always boot to recovery as stated in the instructions?
I had several instances where I was unable to boot into recovery, always ending up in erecovery, and of course, didn't have root when I rebooted into the system. The only way I found of booting into recovery and not erecovery was precisely with adb (adb reboot recovery). After that, root is working, and rebooting apparently always passes by the recovery, so I always have magisk installed.

Strange that you have issues booting into recovery without using adb. Once you have root I found it easier to install one of those quick reboot apps that give you the option to boot into recovery if you need to restart it.
I´m trying this command, following the instructions of topjohnwu page:
fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk /path/to/patched_boot.img
But I get this error:
error: cannot load '/path/to/patched_boot.img': No such file or directory
Any help? Thx

Put the patched file in the same directory as ADB and do not enter "/path/to/"
Or....read the directions as fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk (put your path here) patched_boot.img
Ok, now here is what I did:
- Extracted the RECOVERY_RAMDIS.img of the Update and transfered it to the tablet
- In the M5 , I opened magisk- Install - Install - Patch Boot Image File. Select the RECOVERY_RAMDIS.img. A file patched-boot.img is created. I move it to the adb folder of my computer
I use this command in my computer :
fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk patched_boot.img
Everything seems to go ok, but in the tablet there is no magisk installed and there is no root
Suggestions?
Thx

After having root, yes. After flashing magisk into the recovery_ramdisk, no, booting with vol-up pressed would always go to erecovery.

I know, but it's not totally clear for me, sorry
So, what I should do to undo the process is:
1 download the emui 9 firmware
2 extract RECOVERY_RAMDIS.img from update.app
3 flash it using the command
fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk /path/to/RECOVERY_RAMDIS.img
Is this correct?
