im sharing a solution for the problem in the title
i have faced this problem once and this solution worked
go to section "wipe" then "advanced wipe"
choose the partition with the problem*
and choose "repair or change file system"
then "change file system"
you will find many formats
first choose any one for example "f2fs" wipe
wait untill it finishes then repeat from the begining and choose "ext4"
wait untill it finishes now the "data" partition is fixed**
repeat this method with other partitions if not working

Yes this is the procedure to unencrypt an encrypted data partition. Sometimes you can also just choose to Format Data and get the same result

i know but the problem is that you get this error even when you try to normally wipe data partition
so its a way to get through the problem
I tried everything such as Changing file system Ext2 to Etx4, formating data partition, flashing TWRP again but literally nothing worked! Device Xiaomi Redmi 6 ( Cereus). After I format data my internal storage ( 0 Mb problem ) got fixed but when I booted the device and set up the device and then I boot to TWRP and again the problem shows up 0 MB Problem and then I researched well and I get to know there is a file name Force-Encryption-Disabler or DM-Verity file then I formatted data partition and flashed DM-Verity File and it showed successfully flashed but but but here comes a twist when I set up my device again and I boot into TWRP Recovery it again again again shows 0 MB Internal storage !!! Please help me!!! If you know anything then please lemme know, it will be so grateful !!!

Solution for 0 MB storage in TWRP
Hi Brothers!
It's my first time posting here , so if i make a mistake i am sorry in advance for that.
Solution for 0 MB storage in TWRP is very easy.
You need to boot your phone into TWRP.
In 2nd step you need to go to WIPE option .
Select Data and click on FS Options e.g. trying to change its partition format, most phones use Ext4.
Do same with the Data.
And TADA!!!!
Your problem is solved
I hope it helps you guys getting answer after a long time because i saw it late. Sorry for that.

Hi my YU Yuphoria 5010 started acting up since last week ,when i noticed that the phone was restarting randomly and the settings was missing and even if i clicked on the settings logo in the notification panel, nothing would happen .So i decided to flash a Cusstom ROM instead and boot into recovery. While trying to wipe cache, dalvik and data I got an error message "uable to mount data, cache ,system(invalid argument) and internal memory* was showing up as 0.So i thought my phone was bricked and tried reviving it with the sd card method. But everything else except for system flashed , and got an error FAILED (remote: flash write failure ) just for system .Anyway now I could boot into recovery using fastboot boot command and the internal memory started showing up correcty. The fastboot command is the only way i could get into recovery, if i try power+volume down it would just come up with the empty battery logo. After this i installed qualcomm drivers and manually changed the driver to Qualcomm HS-USB QD Loader 9008 and tried flashing through QFil with a flashable stock ROM and ended up with the error message:"Download Fail:System.Exception: Unable to download Flash Programmer using Sahara Protocol** at QC.QMSLPhone.Phone.QPHONEMS_SaharaArmPrgDownload(String sFileName)** at QC.SwDownloadDLL.SwDownload.QPHONEMSSaharaDownloadArmPrg(UInt64& version, String armPrgPath)
Download Fail:Sahara FailSahara Fail".
But after going through some of the posts I found that my phone might not be bricked in the first place. My device just shows up as 'Android' under Other devices in Device Manager.
The following are the details from device manager.
Device type: Other devices
Manufacturer: Unknown
Location Port_#002.Hub_#003
Problem code : 0000001C
Physical Device Object name: \Device\USBPDO-6

{6a3433f4-5626-40e8-a9b9-dbd9ecd2884b}[6]: <true>
I also tried to restore through TWRP recovery using the back up my brother created on his YU 5010A to no success.Changing the file system type and back to ext4 also didnt help. I use a Windows 10 64bit Laptop.
What could I possibly do to revive my phone?Kindly help.

open TWRP recovery.Go to wipe section and select advanced wipe option here .Now select data and cache from check boxes.then click on change partition format.Select ext4fs .Wipe it then wait for sometime because sometimes it takes approximately 15-20 mins so be patient .It will successfully wipe and then you can see that everything is up to the mark !

I have a YU5510A running Quarkos and YU5010A running AOSP Extended. I also flash a lot of custom Roms but never get any issue.
did you find any solution for this i can only access cyanogen recovery and fastboot mode .

Flash stock ROM using fastboot
For yu5010a you got fastboot package
Open flash all.bat
Just remove device code
02x1ebf or anything I don't remember what it was.
Remove it from all lines
Save flash all.bat
Run it

If any one got error in mounting using twrp
Just follow steps
Goto wipe -> advance wipe-> format data->
Type yes
Wait for process completion
Now reboot twrp to recovery
You see everything is mounted successfully.
Note :- with this step you format everything from your phone so don't reboot to system
Now connect phone with pc and copy any downloaded custom ROM in external SD
Flash it

TWRP --> "Wipe" --> "Avanced Wipe"
Mark only 1 partition at a time and try
"Repair or Change File System" --> either "Repair" or "Change File System" (Most commonly "Ext4" but depends on phone)
What is your specific phone model?

Actually the problem is that the storage is showing 0mb and whenever I am doing anything like flashing other rom or trying to format any of the data ,cache or internal it says unable to mount. Even l have tried QFIL to flash the firmware but it's also failed. Please tell me something.
Is the stock recovery working?
TWRP 3 already tried?
Possible simple solution: but you will LOSE EVERY FILE on userdata.
Step 1: Install TWRP
Step 2: Go to Wipe box
Step 3: Select Advanced Wipe
Step 4: Check "DATA" and tap on "Repair or Change File System".
Step 5: Tap Change File System
Step 6: See original format on file system (EXT4). So turn to other (e.g. ext3) and switch back to original
Now /data is mounted back.
You can also try to erase the partitions using fastboot commands
fastboot erase cache
fastboot erase system
fastboot erase userdata

I have done all these several times and as you have said that change ext4 to ext3 then revert to original. I have done this and it is changed to ext3 but not coming to ext4 again. When I restart my phone then automatically they are changed to ext4.
And yes I have also flashed stock recovery and it is working. But now I am in TWRP recovery.

Hi! I did this to my Axon 7 now my phone stuck at "Your device software can't be checked for corruption......" screen. The phone cannot be turned off and pressing power button also not making anything to the device. I afraid that my phone is bricked. Before booting, after I did changing the system file type, TWRP said that no OS installed and it is very weird. Maybe somebody can give me any advice.
Is there a fix that doesn't involve erasing your data?

It worked for me made /data readable but when I rebooted the system (stock) all I got is the xperia screen going on a loop, nothing else. I had to re-installed the system and set-up everything again (system, twrp, magisk) but when I flash twrp and go to recovery I get that /data error again, wiping your internal storage doesn't help I get the same problem. When I install system (stock) I get this message "encrypting..." pop up when it boots the system, new clean install.

Great work! Yea this worked on the Pixel 3. Changed from ext4 and then back to f2fs and after that data was able to mount!
Greatly amazing! Everybody should read it.
Full Thanks.
This DID NOT workerd for me. Formatting data (or change to ext2 and ext4) only gives you TEMPORAL data access. After booting in the System then the data partition gets, again, inaccesible.

So what exactly are you aiming to do. I know if you just flash stock and boot the device, then reboot to fastboot then boot to twrp it should work fine. But if your trying to go straight after ./flash-all.sh then fastboot boot twrp then it wont work because the partition isn't formated yet
I have flashed a new rom on my phone with twrp 3.4.0.0
When I got to the new UI I had no free space (both internal and sdcard)
Back to twrp I took these steps:
1. Boot into TWRP recovery.
2. Select Wipe » Advanced Wipe.
3. Tick/check the Data partition.
4. Select Repair or Change File System button.
5. And lastly select Resize File System button.
that solved the internal storage size, but the storage of sdcard shows 80MB when it should read 128GB.
I tryed the same method for sdcard but it cant be done on sdcard selection.
Is there any solution without formating sdcard?
if not please provide a solution with formating on twrp.
I have searched for a solution but no result...
Please help! i have no time to search right now!

Problem solved by replacing twrp with pitchblack ver.3 and repeating the procedure mentioned.
I was formatting the phone and after pressing " Format data / factory reset ", I though that this option only formats the data and not the actual rom, so i also chose the "format system option", BUT THAT (might have) REMOVED ALL PARTITIONS. now every time i try to flash a zip, it just says 'failed to read command: no error' or 'Timed out waiting for fuse to be ready'.
is there a way to create new partitions from twrp's terminal?
Please help

I was formatting the phone and after pressing " Format data / factory reset ", I though that this option only formats the data and not the actual rom, so i also chose the "format system option", BUT THAT (might have) REMOVED ALL PARTITIONS. now every time i try to flash a zip, it just says 'failed to read command: no error' or 'Timed out waiting for fuse to be ready'.
is there a way to create new partitions from twrp's terminal?
Please help
