VOLTE option is missing - Huawei Mate 9 Questions & Answers

Is there way to make VOLTE option appear?
is there some adb cli can enable it???

From my experience it's dependent on the telco carrier supporting it.
My SIM1 is Singapore telco with 4G but no VoLTE support so I did not see any options to enable it
My SIM2 is Malaysian telco. While I was in Msia, I saw the VoLTE option appeared in the Settings of the phone

Which firmware variant are you using?

L29C636

I'm on C636 and T-Mobile USA which supports volte and I don't get an option for it.

mvjunkie: What phone do you have exactly ? I am guessing you have an MHA-L29C567 (aka: US version Mate 9) ?
I have a LON-L29C636 (aka: Mate 9 Pro bought on ebay, region asia/taiwan). I am on T-mobile USA as well. On my phone, i see neither the "VoLTE Calls" option in the menu, nor "4G LTE" indicator in the notification area (instead i see just "4G").
Nobody seems to be able to help understand WHY we can not get VoLTE with this HW/firmware. Aka: Is it a limitation of the firmware ? Would the EU firmware for Mate 9 Pro (LON-L29C432) support VoLTE ? Or does my Mate 9 Pro support VoLTE, but T-Mobile SIM does not enable it ?
T-Mobile USA support told me that if phone supports VoLTE than it would be enabled. I am not sure i can believe that. See also my thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9/help/how-to-check-mate-9-pro-supports-lte-t3562527

I do have the L29 US Version, looks like the pro has the bands to support full LTE on T-Mobile, 2,4,12...So I'm not sure. Have you checked your APN settings? What do they look like?

I have one T-MobileData APN, which i guess came from the T-Mobile SIM. I aded a "T-Mobile US LTE" according to https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-28990, which only differed from the "T-MobielData" APN in small details - but i can not even activate this new APN. I click on it, the phone tries to use it and then switches back to the other APN. No idea why.

There is no LON-L29C567, Huawei is not selling the Mate 9 Pro in north america. Best choice would be C432 (Europe). I was hoping for someone from europe with a Mate 9 Pro to chime in and tell us if they can get VoLTE.

*sigh* This makes it even more confusing to understand why VoLTE will or will not work.
This post in german (try google translate on it), says that the provdier independent Huawei Mate 9 firmware supports VoLTE on t-mobile's parent network in gferrmany. which i assume must be MHA-L29C432.
If you are also right, that VoLTE does not work on MHA-L29C432 with t-mobile USA, then it msu be some choice of the network whether o not to offer VoLTE. And t-mobile USA support was lying/uninformed.
better theories welcome.

Not rooted

If you can't rebrand to US version, I don't think VoLTE will work in the US, unfortunately. VoLTE doesn't work in Japan either.

I got the internacional versión And i dont have the option for lte de Or volte y but in the screenshot i notice the lte And the volte active i dont get it because im a out to get the usa versión Just for the lte i got the mocha Brown And its amazing color so im confuse

i am in the us, on AT&T, but do not see the option for VoLTE. How do i enable the option?

You need to restore the stock usa folders in Cust and Version for volte to function. I rebranded to C636 as well and had already made a backup of my original software and i copied the two usa folders in to the current rom I'm running (KangVIP Slim) and when I restarted VOLTE was there and working. here's a flashable fix I created for you guys to test out.

[Q] Buying a Samsung App in in another country?

I'm interested in buying a Samsung app from the Samsung app store in another country. Is it possible to change the country of the Galaxy Note 10.1 by normal means or by rooting? Thanks in advance for your help since I really need the app!
Root and edit the build prop is the usual method .
Not sure if Market Enabler will work on Note .

Thanks for reply! It seems simple enough to edit and change the file. But what property would I change? I want to emulate a Japanese Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 Wifi. Is there a specific product model for it that I can find? Or is there a country code that I can look for?
Should show country code like .
ro.product.manufacturer=samsung
ro.product.locale.language=en
ro.product.locale.region=GB

Okay, I understand now. Oh. Are there any issues on the account side of things? I'm assuming I should create a new google account with Japan as my country of origin and set that as the account for the device. The apps I want tare not free, so I hope you can use a US credit card.
No need to edit anything, im using market enabler normally

This is the dual-SIM version of the S4. It was confirmed for the Chinese market.
Anyone knows where to get it, be it a Chinese e-retailer or wholesaler or via HK, please, please let me know.
Forgive my ignorance. Does this mean that by rooting to this rom, play store and Google apps will be available?

If you don't mind paying a little extra, you can order this phone at taobao.com thru an agent. I know taobao can be very risky but there are many legit sellers out there. You just need to find the right one. I ordered mine already.
Then for look for an agent at your country who can buy on your behalf and accepts a safe payment method like Paypal. I tried taobaospree.com (China-based agent) before and they're very professional and accepts paypal.
You may also consider buying from etotalk.com. Price is high and they usually accept paypal but for such a huge amount, they only accept money transfer which is very risky.

I'm still confused. Based on various websites like this one, it seems that you don't need a rooted phone to install it?
http://crackerpie.com/2013/04/26/update-galaxy-s4-duos-i9502-to-znuamdg-android-4-2-2-jelly-bean-official-firmware/
You just need Odin to install the software, and then it "loses" the root?

The link you provided is the method to manually install the Samsung Galaxy I9502 stock ROM. If for example you mess up your phone by perhaps trying to root it but failed, then guide your provided is what you need to restore the original firwmare so you can use the phone again.
From what I have read, Samsung Galaxy I9502 is only available for Unicom telco in China. "IF" the downloadable official firmware in your link is the same one used by China Unicom, then it will not come with Google Playstore and other Google apps. This is so because as you may already know, access to google is restricted in China.
Another way is if a pre-rooted custom ROM for Samsung Galaxy S4 I9502 is available then a lot of Galaxy I9502 owners will be celebrating.
Hi !
I would like to ask wether there is a confirmed rooting-methode for the 9502 or a prerooted ROM available.
I ordered one 9502 for me and it will come around 6 weeks. So i want to prepare myself for that.
Thanks for hints and help !

This is strictly a China region phone. It's dual SIM however, both slots are not identical in specs.
You can buy it in China ONLY. It is either tied to the China Unicom (dual GSM slots) service provider or China Telecom (one GSM, one CSMA) in China even it is an unlock phone. Its startup flash screen is customed to the service provider.
If you get it in Hong Kong, then it is gray market phone but cost higher. It is the only thing cost higher in HK than in China.

Of course that is not only the China region phone. You can use is almost anywhere (check GSM specs). You can buy it anywhere also as soon as internet trading exists. Moscow, Minsk, NY, Frankfurt etc - physically the phones are already sold there. It is not tied to any provider given it is not bought in China Unicom store (where it is 30-40% more expensive), startup flash screen shows local 3g-Internet provider logo WO on the start and China Unicom logo on the exit (both will be removed in our customized international ROM which is planned to be out in some pair of days.

I found them back in May, but since this is October and I sold the device in July, I am not even sure. But if you search, you might find something. Sorry.....
Found something on http://www.samsungis.com/Firmwares/SGH-I497.html
will let you know what I findnwhen I get a widows cpio program.
looks like different regions, docs say international version support calling from tablet.

Nothing new. Just older ICS ROMs for the I497 for Mexico, Puerto Rico, and Jamaica. If you look here you will see the same and also new 4.12 versions.
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/
Edit: The newest is a Canadian version.
Do you know if any of them support texting and calling?
the samsung.com/global says i497 can do this, the samsung.com/us says it can't.
I am hopingbthe a load from outside the US will work.
I pulled the files out of the JellyBean 4.1.2 I497VLAMJ2 version. It includes a SecMms_Tablet.apk whis is the samsung messaging app. The ATT version does not include this app. So this ROM may infact give you those options. The ROM includes the Canadian ChatOn app but the region in the build.prop is GB.

I would think you could install this version using Odin.
Just saw this which may interest you. Notice the phone icon on the screen.

arg...Samsung is such a XXXXXXXXXXXXXX
tryied to load a rom and my sgh-497 will not boot.
gets all the way to the chimes and Samsung logo and then nothing.
Sent it to Samsung and their official policy is "too BAD" it was rooted and not it is a paper weight.
Eventhough I want to pay them to reflash it, they will not.
Any suggestions?

Debrand to enable US LTE bands in Indian Honor 6X (BLN-L22)

I bought BLN-L22 Honor 6X from India and now want to use it in US but it does not work with any network on LTE. Any way I can debrand to use US bands ?
Rebranding is only for software, as for bands, it is hardware related so you can't change anything.
Try willmyphonework.net
BLN-L21 is the Intl. model, I don't think yours will work on US bands
Here are the bands that honor 6x support, 1, 3, 7, 8 and 38

I have read and people have verified with other Huawei phone that the hardware is actually capable of supporting all bands but Huawei locks them based on specific region. It can be unlocked by changing oeminfo and then flashing the rom of that region

In that case, try and tell us if it's true
By rebranding you can use VOLTE ,there is not restrictions and hardware support .
@PalakMi and @venugopalu007, I wasn't able to find oeminfo for BLN-L24 (US version) but I rebranded it to BLN-L21 (EU version) which enabled the wcdma band 2. At least now I have 3g working. This also confirms that hardware supports all bands and that they have just been software locked. Hope someone can provide oeminfo file for BLN-L24 (US version)

Yes. Hardware supports but software tweaking is causing the issues for us. Good you were able to debrand. We haven't got the OEM info file for bln-l24 model yet.

Just the difference of LTE bands
AFAIK 6003 should be EU/US model and 6000 would be IN/CN model :fingers-crossed:

Can you be more specific ?
Which bands?
Does one have more than the other?
You can contact the OnePlus support for more information but EU/US have different bands from IN/CN so the 4g can be unusable or instable if you are using a model that doesn't match your region
