This is the dual-SIM version of the S4. It was confirmed for the Chinese market.
Anyone knows where to get it, be it a Chinese e-retailer or wholesaler or via HK, please, please let me know.

Forgive my ignorance. Does this mean that by rooting to this rom, play store and Google apps will be available?

If you don't mind paying a little extra, you can order this phone at taobao.com thru an agent. I know taobao can be very risky but there are many legit sellers out there. You just need to find the right one. I ordered mine already.
Then for look for an agent at your country who can buy on your behalf and accepts a safe payment method like Paypal. I tried taobaospree.com (China-based agent) before and they're very professional and accepts paypal.
You may also consider buying from etotalk.com. Price is high and they usually accept paypal but for such a huge amount, they only accept money transfer which is very risky.

It means you can install and run Play Store and Google Apps after a successful root. Problem is, there's no available rooting method yet for I9502 variant.

I'm still confused. Based on various websites like this one, it seems that you don't need a rooted phone to install it?
http://crackerpie.com/2013/04/26/update-galaxy-s4-duos-i9502-to-znuamdg-android-4-2-2-jelly-bean-official-firmware/
You just need Odin to install the software, and then it "loses" the root?

The link you provided is the method to manually install the Samsung Galaxy I9502 stock ROM. If for example you mess up your phone by perhaps trying to root it but failed, then guide your provided is what you need to restore the original firwmare so you can use the phone again.
From what I have read, Samsung Galaxy I9502 is only available for Unicom telco in China. "IF" the downloadable official firmware in your link is the same one used by China Unicom, then it will not come with Google Playstore and other Google apps. This is so because as you may already know, access to google is restricted in China.
Another way is if a pre-rooted custom ROM for Samsung Galaxy S4 I9502 is available then a lot of Galaxy I9502 owners will be celebrating.

Hi !
I would like to ask wether there is a confirmed rooting-methode for the 9502 or a prerooted ROM available.
I ordered one 9502 for me and it will come around 6 weeks. So i want to prepare myself for that.
Thanks for hints and help !

Hi.
I have just purchased a GT 9502, and am a little let down. Does this rom have less bloatware, and all the standard account types, etc etc.
I am having a great deal of difficulty in setting up my exchange accounts on this phone.
Thanks, Andrew.

Hi everybody .

This is strictly a China region phone. It's dual SIM however, both slots are not identical in specs.
You can buy it in China ONLY. It is either tied to the China Unicom (dual GSM slots) service provider or China Telecom (one GSM, one CSMA) in China even it is an unlock phone. Its startup flash screen is customed to the service provider.
If you get it in Hong Kong, then it is gray market phone but cost higher. It is the only thing cost higher in HK than in China.

Of course that is not only the China region phone. You can use is almost anywhere (check GSM specs). You can buy it anywhere also as soon as internet trading exists. Moscow, Minsk, NY, Frankfurt etc - physically the phones are already sold there. It is not tied to any provider given it is not bought in China Unicom store (where it is 30-40% more expensive), startup flash screen shows local 3g-Internet provider logo WO on the start and China Unicom logo on the exit (both will be removed in our customized international ROM which is planned to be out in some pair of days.

I got mine from South Africa and I'm two updates behind too. Im seriously considering about rooting and flashing my s4 now. Its a shame because I love the stock rom, but if the updates are coming in so slow, and we get behind by another update, I definitely am flashing.
On a side note, maybe samsung will roll out updates to other areas using the most updated firmwares?

Due to this?? Sorry I am a noob poster and cant post link.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 might come with a large number of new features, but it seems that one of the new features contains a serious smishing (SMS phishing) flaw. Samsung's "cloud backup" feature was found to be improperly secured, and can exploited by malicious software to send fraudulent or fake SMS messages while pretending to be the identify of any contact or organization, without the owner of the phone realizing.
This exploit was discovered by Chinese Internet security firm Qihoo. According to Qihoo, Samsung has already been notified of this issue, and is already in the process of fixing the issue. Qihoo also added that users can avoid being exploited by this vulnerability by turning off the "cloud backup" feature when it's not being used. A temporary fix has also been made by Qihoo 360, and can be deactivated once the security flaw has been patched. Current Samsung Galaxy S4 users of Qihoo's latest Android app are protected against this exploit.
Wonder how long it takes for us Nords to get it.

You will most likely lose Gapps and have to reinstall as the china ROMS, at least on my China Mobile Branded, N9002, do not have and do not allow installation of Google apps. You have to have ROOT to be able to add the apps. Either manually or using Odin.
If you are happy with this can you post a tutorial for the every step you take to root and install gapps. I realy want this device but i found out over google that most users have problem daiily use. Many fc rebbot and instability. Probably this is build only for china and any try to transform the phone into a close international variant fail. Sva rom have problem too with this try but is realy the only custom firmware for this terminal and closest to 9005 international variant.

New Firmware 5.0 N9005XXUGPOF3 NEE (Nordic Countries)

Hey,
There is a new firmware 5.0 for our Note 3 : N9005XXUGPOF3
CSC : NEE
Anyone has tried it ?
Changelist is lower than the KSA Version
PDA: N9005XXUGPOF3 CSC: N9005NEEGPOF3 CHANGELIST: 4935104 BUILD DATE: 17.06.2015
PDA: N9005XXUGBOEA CSC: N9005OJVGBOE4 CHANGELIST: 5020004 BUILD DATE: 29.05.2015
Yea but it's builed after BOEA (KSA)
Changelist is more important, not the build date!!!
Gesendet von meinem SM-N9005 mit Tapatalk
And this is lower- changelist
I've seen several official roms released with different rom and kernel filesizes and with same changelist.
Highest changelist may not be the latest version of Android, if the required changes are for specific countries only.
I need the Modem and Bootloader from this rom please.
There is a newer one (higher changelist) and is latest Brazilian's one (see screenshot)
I installed the new firmware. N9005XXUGPOF3_N9005NEEGPOF3_NEE
first impression:
* stable
* google applications have been updated to the latest version
I do not care changelog number.
it's just a number and i don't know what criteria is placed.
I watch the build data and this firmware is the latest. ( Build date : Wed, 17 Jun 2015 09:30:11 +0000 )
Do you know if I can downgrade from this rom to Kitkat ?
Does this update get rid of the delay while clearing recent apps? Heard the last Indian update for Exynos units solved the problem (or at least minimised it), so wondering whether this one does that or not.
Unified Daemon bug is still in this Rom... :/
Are you sure about the Unified Daemon bug? I installed the Nordic ROM two days ago, and usage only shows 17KB. Fair enough on the first day battery drain was fast, but it seems to be settling down and has now lasted longer. Pulled it off charge this morning and after four hours of emailing, surfing, and watching a Netflix movie battery is at 90%.
And for devilsdouble , yes it does get rid of the delay clearing recent apps. I found that annoying too.

Exactly. It's pointless to think that Samsung would build something later in time with a lower changelist. The only difference in changelist is different region, or Carrier implementations. XXU (Europe, or EMEA in a way) has most of the attention, i've always noticed changelist number differences with the Americas version (Brazil, and mostly South America) and also the Asian ones (Malaysia, Philippines, Taiwan, Singapore and Honk-Kong). All that means is that Samsung has split this in to three pools of maintenance who seem to merge once in a while.
Basically i think it's useless to compare the changelist from different regions, for the sake of Modem/Baseband/CSC compatibility, i'd always go with the region your phone is made for initially.
EDIT: anyone got a mirror yet?
I've recieved an official update on my Note3, now my baseband /bootloader /pda/ is N9005XXUGPOF3, while the CSC is N9005NEEGPOF3. I live in Italy
The phone is still stable and smooth, but the battery leakage is crazy.
I would like to root the phone and install twrp to put on some custom rom. Does anybody know if and how I can do it?
I was checking about chainfire root method and i have to choose one of those too,
SM-N9005 (International Qualcomm): CF-Auto-Root-hlte-hltexx-smn9005.zip
(only works on 4.4 bootloaders, if you're still on 4.3 use the old version which you can find here:...)
Which is my bootloader version at this time?
Can I use safely the 4.4 bootloader version?
How should i procede to root the phone?

Clarification on firmwares

Hello
I have the following query about firmwares. Got an S5 which was purchased in Germany (Deutsche Telekom)
Now that 6.0.1 is out, I would like to upgrade to it, but I would like to switch to a different firmware, because I want a firware that is vendor-free, not associated to a specific provider (e.g. not startup logo, no bloatware etc). Just retail, as I would get it if I bought the device 'pay as you go' directly from Samsung.
I can see that there are the following 6.0.1 versions of the firmware for my device:
2016-06-07

The last two (Nordic countries and Germany), don't mention a specific provider. Does that mean that those are 'retail' ROMs, as I described above? Am I good to pick one of those two?
Cheers
Anyone??
My device baseband version is G901FXXU1ANI3 and it's got 4.4.4 on it.
Which, according to sammobile is:
G901FXXU1ANI5/G901FTNL1ANK2/G901FXXU1ANI3/G901FXXU1ANI5 (Netherlands (T-Mobile) - TNL)

Now, can I follow these instructions:
Extract (unzip) the firmware file
Download Odin v3.11.1
Extract Odin ZIP file
Open Odin v3.11.1
Reboot Phone in Download Mode (press and hold Home + Power + Volume Down buttons)
Connect phone and wait until you get a blue sign in Odin
Add the firmware file to AP / PDA
Make sure re-partition is NOT ticked
Click the start button, sit back and wait few minutes

and flash to any 6.0.1 release?

(am I right to assume that all those three 6.0.1 releases are 'stock', since they don't mention a telecom provider..?)
Thanks!
Hello,
You can indeed flash any of the firmwares you mentioned above. The ones with (Vodafone) are carrier branded, the ones without like "Germany" are not branded and it will be as if your phone was sold by Samsung directly.
All the best,
Tzuik
Suppose there is no way for me to tell if any of those firmwares include the MMB29V (fix for the memory leak issue) ??

Can someone clarify to me how to read (and understand!) firmware versioning?
For example: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-G901F/
I am interested in upgrading to 6.0.1 (from 4.4.4)
And I want to pick a 'retail' ROM. I don't want a provider-specific ROM, as I believe there are chances that it will include provider-specific bloatware, which I don't need!
Then, I can narrow down potential 6.0.1 candidates by picking the latest 'Security Patch Level'. Which at this time is 2016-10-01
So far, so good. Let's look at the following two:
Model SM-G901F
Model name GALAXY S5
Country Greece
Version Android 6.0.1
Changelist 7582628
Build date Fri, 07 Oct 2016 07:54:26 +0000
Security Patch Level 2016-10-01
Product code EUR
PDA G901FXXU1CPJ1
CSC G901FEUR1CPE1
---------------------
Model SM-G901F
Model name GALAXY S5
Country Nordic countries
Version Android 6.0.1
Changelist 7582628
Build date Fri, 07 Oct 2016 05:48:37 +0000
Security Patch Level 2016-10-01
Product code NEE
PDA G901FXXS1CPJ5
CSC G901FNEE
Both are 'Retail' ROMS, right?
One is for Greece and the other for Nordic countries. I live in Greece. But what's the difference other than that? Language support? Isn't the Greek ROM contain Scandinavian languages and vice versa?
Changelist (and Security Patch Level) are identical. Build date is also similar.
PDA and CSC codes are different.
Can someone help me understand if there are any actual differences between those two 6.0.1 releases?

Sorry for the late reply mate. here is the deal: If for example you live in the nordic countries, you would prefer downloading that specific version due to language packs included and first boot language. If you install the Greece one, the language at boot will obviously be Greek. Same with GPS fix, there is a special file in each of these ROMs that points to your approximate location for the GPS to know, what satellites will it be looking for at start. If you take Greece and live in the US, it will take a little longer for your initial GPS to get a fix. I think there are also limitations regarding WiFi channels in the Modem files, depending on the selected country.

Thank you tzuik! That's most helpful
Boot language is no concern at all to me (since it can be changed after first boot). Only thing that would interest me here, is that if there is a possibility to have e.g. English language, but with an option for Greek keyboard. I am guessing that's not possible, right? The keyboard language is always fixed to whatever language you chose the system language to be. I am asking this, since I would have liked to have English (UK) as system language, but have the option of Greek keyboard (i.e. for typing for SMS, chat etc)
GPS and Wifi, although not of critical importance, it's nice to have them optimized for my country.
Thanks ever so much

You can have whatever language you prefer on the keyboard, independent of the language of the OS. If you choose the Samsung one, just open settings > Language and input > under "Keyboards and input methods" select "Samsung keyboard" > "+ Input Languages" and you will find a long list where Greek should be as well. Once you select it, it will download the dictionary for it and you can switch between English/Greek when texting by swiping on the Spacebar left or right. You can also install other keyboards like Google, Swype, etc. and you can change the default keyboard in the same menu where it says " Default". They all have different settings and ways to cycle languages so you have to play around and choose whichever fits you best.
Best regards,
Tzuik
Excellent, that will do then!

Region change for Samsung Pay

Hey guys,
I bought my Gear S2 Classic while in America and I live in the UK, when I try and setup Samsung Pay I only get the option to enter a Zip Code which won't work for me over here. Is there anyway I can flash a UK firmware / ROM and make it think it was bought here?
I've got some experience with Odin and custom ROMs etc, but only on phones.
My watch is currently reporting the following:
Model: SM-R732
AP: R732XXU2EQJ2
CP: NO PHONE
CSC: R7320XA2EQJ2
Any help would be great.
Samsung pay not available in UK
Samsung pay is not available in UK, so a firmware update would not help.

A quick Google says it came out in May last year and my bank supports it.
Or is that just for phones and the Gear S3?
