Hey everyone,
I bought the Honor 8 this week and immediately got the Nougat update. I'm now on build number FRD-L09C432B360. Everything is working fine, except for the gyroscope which is going crazy. I've done a forum and google search, but the only other evidence of this is on youtube.
Is there any fix for this?

I got the same problem, reverting to any Android 6 rom fixed the problem

I have the same problem on Nougat.
Lot of users has the problem too.
I hope Honor will fix that soon !

I got it also on MM B131 unfortunately.
what gyro issue ? I'm on 7.0 b360 l04 . Explain exactly what you mean

Hello,
It seems that the giro is going crazy (spining) when using google cardboard or google street view.
I downloaded a giro, accelerometer app to do a diagnosis and they seem fine.
When using cardboard design lab app or Caribbean VR app everything seems fine.
Is there any fix for google cardboard on Honor 8 ?

Deactivating some settings in 'smart assistance' should fix your issue. I only kept Smart Key activated and now everything is working perfectly!

I deactivated all smart screen functions.
Performed cache drive wipe.
The issue persists.

just discovered this issue on my honor 8 when I wanted to try a VR headset (google cardboard for example)
I noticed this bug in snapchat on some filters going crazy spining all around
I think there is a missunderstood here with 2 different issue : The one that could be solved by deactivating "smart screen" option is only about landscape rotation I think
The issue of this thread is about VR apps, Youtube VR vids (after you clic on carboard icon), and every kind of app using the 360° + cardboard functionnality of the phone.
(Google street view 360 is ok for me since you can't set it for cardboard, as Youtube VR vids are OK until you clic on cardboard button)
I hope any update will come, but it looks like there is not a lot of people who noticed this issue since it is the only thread I found.
What I tried :
- disabling all smart screen options + wipe cache from recovery menu (non rooted)
- accelerometer calibration
- gyroscope calibration
nothing worked
edit : some apps are working i don't know how and why :
Gravity Pull VR (goes crazy but get fixed by deactivating / activating orientation)
Titans of Space Cardboard VR
ParisVR / CaribbeanVR / ...
Cardboard Design Lab
Still there

Try installing Google VR Services from Playstore.

I've not been able to get stable VR either, tried on cardboard. Installing VR services didn't help. I gave up when I couldn't get the spinning bug fixed.
I've installed the Google VR services but the bug is still there with Google Cardboard.
But on Caribbean VR that works as intended.
The problem seems to be that Google Cardboard thinks that the smartphone is vertical so it's spinning constantly as it does in youtube 360 when it is vertical or that the motion to turn left or right is always triggered ....
I've also tried Trinus VR and the same problem appears.
Just got the phone today, ran all updates and having the same issue with 360 youtube videos en some vr apps. Anybody found a solution?
Anybody got this problem reported to Honor?

This is a bug with Android 7.0, I believe even the pixel had this. It was fixed with the release of Android 7.1 so hopefully Huawei will release an update soon.

It's not an issue with my Nexus 6P in 7.1 neither in 7.0 but it's present on my Mate 9 even with the latest update.
Maybe go to Spotify application in the settings and enable show on lock screen.

I doubt it's that. I also don't have lockscreen controls for Google Play music, and that doesn't appear to have any setting to enable lockscreen controls. It was just there automatically on my Note 3 on Lollipop, but not on my Mate 9.
I have noticed, that Mate 9 doesn't show any notifications on lockscreen, that are alredy during locking. This essentially means, that when song changes in spotify while phone is in sleep mode, and then you wake it up, spotify buttons will be there.
Seems like a bug to me.
It's not a bug. Huawei knows this and the latest update (B138) change log clearly mentions that the issue with third party muzic players on lock screen is fixed.

1. If it's not a bug, then it's intentional. Why would they need to "fix" something that isn't a bug?
2. I'm on B138, and it's not fixed.
Got this problem too on my Mate 8, although Google Play Music controls work on my lockscreen.

Found A Fix!?
I know that on the honor 8 they were broken. Firmware b380 fixes it for the honor 8. I am currently on b183 with my mate 9 and it doesn't work. I have the us unlocked.
Also never had this issue with my HTC 10 when it updated to nougat.

At least for Google Play Music, it's mostly fixed in the latest US firmware (183). The first time you power up the phone to the lock screen after starting music, they aren't there. But if you power it back off, then back on, they are there, and work fine after that.

For me the music controls show up on the lockscreen after it plays the 2nd track onwards.
So you fast forward the first song to the last 10 seconds and lock the screen. When it goes to the next track, the spotify control will pop up on the lockscreen.

Yet strangely, for the newest US update (B183), it's not fixed. Though it is fairly benign since you can just power it off and back on again, and the lock screen controls are there after that.
omg, this is so frustrating, how hard is it to have your Spotify music player displayed on your lock screen...such a basic fundamental need for those commuting, so mighty pissed, slight regret is setting in, I'm missing my Samsung note, I dislike apple because they come across as controlling, now android is morphing into some sort of a control freak also, cannot disable lock screen, now cannot see Spotify, the brightness doesn't auto adjust for the smart sleep cover, had to download an app for that...wtffff....Helppppp

i don't know if is a bug or not,but when i play music (whit google play music or stock music player) and i try to change song in lockscreen,i need to tap few time before phone change song,it seem you have like 20x20 pixel area where next button work like you use a bad Resistive touchscreen . Different play button,much bigger and you can tap even on edge and work fine. You can seen in video.

I can say i touch the screen normally (only in lookscreen i have this problem)

It could be an issue for the protector too.
I have one and sometimes the touch doesn't respond.

Is it possible that you have YouTube with resolution optimization on Boost+? Because in my case, for instance, if I set the resolution optimization for Samsung Internet Browser (Beta), it becomes unable to go full screen with its built-in video player.

I'm also having this problem, it started happening after the last couple of Youtube update. I tried clearing cache and rebooting many times. Guess we have to just wait till Google start getting their ****s together.

I am using Nova Launcher with the Nova Companion for the Google Feed. It was stuttering before and now it runs mch smoother.

Updated to 1.8.10 yesterday and tried using Lens and Assistant this morning but both seem broken. Lens says "thanks for updating, we will be available soon" or something like that. Assistant freezes the phone and won't open at all.
Anyone else have this problem?
Agreed that fps is faster but haven't noticed the other two.
Hmm....the stock "launcher" k8nd of restarts several times a day, like I go to home screen and it displays only loading... For a couple of seconds, then the homescreen apears...like after a fresh boot up?!

Happens to me too. Mostly when I go home after browsing the net.
Battery life after update now halved. Not a good update. I reported to support but doubt there will be a solution. Anyone else having poor battery life ?

I am not experiencing any problems everyone else is describing.
For me updated working very nicely. No issues in launcher and camera quality has been improved specially for selfie camera.
0 issues
Double tap to close the screen still doesn't work.
AOD still doesn't work with third party apps (except for WhatsApp).

A double tap to turn off the screen works but on the lock screen. You will wake up with a double throttle to wake up the screen and extinguish it with a double thump.

It happens randomly. Sometimes it happens after taking pictures with camera. Sometimes happens after trying to unlock my phone. It really happens randomly.
Regarding phone configuration, I have p40 pro and i have installed google applications through googlefier. At the moment I am on latest firmware 11.0.0.176.
Also one more question regarding YouTube:
When I try to cast content through YouTube app on my samsung TV, it wants me to update google play services through play store.
Should i update it, any experiences?

I've been getting it since moving to the newest update 11.0.0.176 too. Found camera and Aurora Store seem to trigger it. I'm using Micro G, no GMS. Not sure if connected but also noted the double press of the down volume button to quick launch the camera also hangs for about 5-10 seconds before opening since the update.
