Nexus 4, 4.4.3 KitKAt Bootloop issue - XDA Assist

I need your help! My Nexus 4 on 4.4.3 is stuck in a boot loop! I don't know how this happened; however the [fix root? (Yes)] option in CWM recovery is missing! and I can't boot into safe mode to uninstall an app that I think might be causing this; (My phone died while I was using Hangouts and the bottom LED light flashed twice. That's the last thing I remembered before my phone became....a paper weight. Do you have any suggestions? Is there a way to boot into Safe Mode via. ADB or a button command on KitKat? I freally do not want to factory reset my device. I have too many unupdated apps and pictures and personal things on my phone that I've been building for... well 4 years since I've gotten the phone. Any advice will be appreciated, - Milo

Hi !
Go to fastboot and reflash the cwm recovery
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Copy your stuffs then onto your PC and then flash one of the factory images from here https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/general/ref-nexus-4-stock-ota-urls-t1971169/post33631631
Good luck !

Disaster Recovery - Life after wrong Flash ? OnePlus

Hello all,
2 days ago when on vacation i decided to temper around with my OnePlus one that i recently bought (have bought the Chinese version but it was already rooted and had cyanoged mod on it)
All was fine until i decided to flash Paranoid Android and i posted a question here, about how to bypass the always apearing CyanogenMod Simple Recovery tool.
After trying what everyone suggested and not getting result i had 1 last thing that someone suggested:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=54717885
If you still have not fixed this issue, for some reason when I was flashing my recovery it would NOT work for the life of me until I changed the name of the custom recovery file to 'recovery.img'. Everytime I flash (for example) openrecovery-twrp-blah-bacon.img it would say success, but it kept rebooting into CM fastboot mode.

I misunderstood and i renamed the .zip file from paranoid sources into recovery.img and flash (Kernel) it via some app from play store, i thin it was TRWL
Now my phone is stuck into loading faze and the only thing i can do is enter Fastboot mode.
I tried to do a:
fastboot erase cache
But it did not work, its still stuck in loading and will not do anything.
Could you help me out ? I have a really bad feeling i just lost my phone due to hurrying and not having a pc around to read more.
You can try to fastboot flash recovery(original or proper one that works) but I don't know the exact commands.
In the first case where your recovery would not switch from CM to TWRP/CWR was because you had "Update CM Recovery" enabled in Developer Options. If you ticked that off, then it would have replaced CM Recovery. Its confusing yeah.
So wait... you renamed the .zip to a .img? Thats not good. But at least you can enter fastboot mode so thats at least something. Is your bootloader still unlocked? Are you able to boot into recovery mode? Try fastboot boot <name-of-recovery-for-twrp>.img and see if you can get into recovery.
If you can then perform a wipe and then enable adb sideload within TWRP and then type,
adb sideload <name-of-zip>.zip and then after its done sideloading, reboot
Thanks for the answer.
I managed last night out of 10 flash resets to get the Custom Recovery Tool to booth up.
I was about to give up when i saw it boot and i immediately flashed the CM .zip i had on the phone from last time.
I even managed to get Paranoid android to flash and im very happy.
Thanks for the help

[Q] Freezing phone

hello,
I need help with restoring phone that freezes on startup after leaving the recovery mode. The screen is still just google the words and not in recovery mode install rom. The PC I roolkit Nexus 1.8.6, but I can not install ROM or here, or make boot recovery. I feel like I pulled something Toolkit and thus got ourselves tonight. The phone is unlocked and listening. ROM was 4.4.4 cm hammerhead KTU84P.
Advance thanks for the tip on how to start. M
First of all don't use toolkits. Download the factory images from google and flash those via fastboot. Look at my signature for steps/guides!

Bootloop after flashing TWRP recovery

Hello guys,
Here's my problem :
Got my new OnePlus One, and trying to flash TWRP on it, but I encounter some problems...
- Unlocked bootloader successful
- Flashing TWRP 2.7.1.0, no problem so far...
But now, my One is bootlooping on the bootanimation (not the android logo, but the OS bootanimation)...
I tried many things, such as flashing another recovery, but no way When I manually boot into recovery, i got a black screen, and my One reboots...
Actually, i'm trying to restore it as stock using this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/general/guide-return-opo-to-100-stock-t2826541... But it takes very long time to flash userdata_64g.img....
I hope that with stock img's i can restore my One to out-of-the-box state....
Anybody encounter this problem ?
EDIT : just saw this on a thread about recovery/rooting : Disable CM Recovery Protection - On your phone go to Settings > Developer options. Then disable the 'Update recovery with system updates' option.
I didn't disable this option, maybe my problem is due to this ?
Boot into TWRP and clear the cache. Happened to me as well and that's how I fixed it.
Thanks, but i cannot enter into recovery... I only have access to fastboot mode
What happens when you try to enter into recovery?
Hold down Volume Down and the Power button together when the device is off.
Black screen, and my One reboots
I have downloaded cm-11.0-XNPH25R-bacon-signed-fastboot_64GB.zip, i'll try to restore my One to stock using this... I hope that it will restore my One
Ok guys, I finally have restored my OnePlus to stock...
Using the thread with the stock images from cm-11.0-XNPH25R-bacon-signed
Don't know why, but impossible to recover using the XNPH30O stock images I left my phone 3 hours after lauching the adb command "fastboot flash userdata userdata_64g.img, never completed the command....
So let's do it again, I will try to flash again TWRP as soon as I go back to home. And I will desactivate the recovery protect option from parameters... Maybe my softbrick came because of this option that I forgot to desactivate.
Reflash stock then try again!
just in case someone is looking for the cm-11.0-XNPH25R-bacon-signed-fastboot_64GB.zip (i was searching for 1 hour ), you can find it here:

//EDIT
nevermind, silly me, didn't see the link in OP...

[Q] Nexus 5 bricked?

Hi,
Running stock lollipop 5.0.1 on my nexus 5 - boot loader unlocked, no root been like this since 5.0.1 was released. No recent software changes.
Today my nexus turned off itself and now will only show the Google boot screen (white text /lock at the bottom). I can boot into the fast boot recovery (holding down power and volume) but when I click to enter recovery mode I just get a blank screen and nothing happens.
Thought maybe flashing the stock image would fix this but I have no usb access when I connect to my Mac and not recognised in adb command.
Any ideas or solutions would be appreciated if even to reset the tamper flag and lock boot loader to get a warranty replacement.
Thanks.
Looks like you might have had a bad flash.
If all else fails, your saving grace is that you can still get into fastboot. Do you have a customer recovery installed?
If not, install TWRP or CWM and that should get you to a state to backup your data. Even better, you might be able to troubleshoot further.
And if that still doesn't work, you can always flash the factory image from fastboot.
Good Luck!

Factory reset, now stuck at TWRP, can't access fastboot and rescue

Ive been running KangVIP with no problems, however I got some adware which refused to go away, so I attempted to factory reset via the phones menu. It then ended up stuck at the TWRP screen. This has happened before so next I tried to restore a previous backup...not successful. I can't access fastboot and rescue to flash the official recovery.
Anyone got any help? Is there a guide to flashing the stock rom or have I borked my phone?
You can not shut down the device and connect it via USB to a PC and boot while holding volume down button into fastboot mode?
Well then you have ruined your phone.
I'm OP, was unable to get into my usual account last night. I'm not sure how, but holding volume up, down and power seemed to kick start it back to life and I'm back running KangVIP. I don't think I'll be resetting it again for a very long time.

I'm not sure whether it was luck or not, but all I did was to go into TWRP and then chose the Mount option, unmounted everything, then went to Reboot and chose Bootloader - that got me back to fastboot where I was able to flash the stock recovery, do a factory reset and get my phone back.
