Hey folks, first of all, sorry but I couldn't find anything that helped.
I have a Galaxy Note 4 (SM-N910F (international Version); Codename: "trltexx") and had flashed an unofficial version of Cyanogenmod 14.1. Except for a few bugs, it was running fine.
I've then changed to Lineage OS 14.1, obviously unofficial as well. This was running fine too and had less bugs (i.e. camera was working unlike with CM).
Well, then, after about a week or so, the phone became unstable and just won't recover from it since then - at least two weeks.
System and Play Store apps/services began to crash (sometimes several at once), the device restarts/turns off randomly or keeps displaying the boot animation and won't turn on till I take the battery out and put it back in.
The weird thing is, these problems sometimes don't occur at all and everything runs nice and smooth and later, everything starts again and is even worse. It feels like the phone is destroying and recovering itself over and over again.
Right now, I'm running the latest version of Ressurrection Remix OS (V5.8.1./Android 7.1.1).
Well, I'd like to thank you in advance for your answers.

Greetings and welcome to assist. Have you tried asking in the rom threads to see if anyone else is having the same issues ? Unfortunately using cm/lineage based roms can have bugs as they are not based on samsung firmware
Regards
Sawdoctor
Hi, thanks for the answer. I wanted to say that I went down to resurrection remix Rom which is based on Android 6 (Marshmallow).
It's fine now.
Now I'm just looking to find a way to hide my root. Can't use my banking app anymore since I've rooted my device.
Update 2: The phone problems I have described reoccur over and over again. A factory reset via TWRP fixes that and then the phone slowly goes back to the old problems.
I don't know what to do anymore except for doing this over and over again.

Hi guys,
After searching for a few days and doing stuff myself (perhaps not everything for the best), I finally get it over with and ask for advice.
I've got a GT-N8010, since long been running an unofficial CM11 build (since one of these CM11 builds, the device was known as a GT-N8013).
Last week I started looking at the unofficial CM12.0 and CM12.1 builds, those looked promising.
After some info, I flashed to the CM12.1 build. A few minutes later, Android 5.1 in all it glory... everything running fine. Saturday evening I noticed I didn't get root.
Without thinking straight, the next morning I started flashing superuser but as you might imaging, that totally f'ed the system.
Now logically, one could just reflash CM12.1 and be done with it .. somehow I skipped all logic and started tinkering in recovery (TWRP).
After some doing, I managed to even F-up TWRP, it wouldn't boot anymore. The TeamWin logo was visible, screen flashed, logo and back.
No worries, there's still the download mode .. yeah about that ... already in panic mode .. doing more harm than good.
So .. Now I'm at this curious state.
I've managed to get it booting to a stock ROM. TWRP is also running.
The weird stuff I'm encountering now:
The device is semi recognized as a GT-N8000, if it was just that, I really don't care.
I said semi, when I want to flash another ROM (even specifically the CM12.1 for GT-N8000) it always states (in ADB Sideload in TWRP) that the package is not for this device.
There's a whole lot of devices listed, then it states "this device is ." , as in blanco device?
Anyone got an idea how to fix it so I can enjoy the Android 5.1 build again? (and seriously, remove the stock rom would be the first priority)
Thanks.
If the following table is correct then I have a GT-N8013. I'm running KitKat 4.4.2 on it: (N8010XXUDNE4_N8010BTUDNF1_BTU_N8013.tar.md5).
How close can one get to the latest version of Android and still have a working GT-N8013?

GT-N8005 - Wifi+3G
GT-N8010 - Wifi (Except USA)

I've just picked up a used 10.1 (first edition) and am hoping to get it onto 5.1.1 or 6.01.
I see a custom CM ROM from Cyanogen, that states it's 6.0 official, but when I go to the site the release is really old for the 8013, and I'm not sure if it's been grouped in with the more recent beta group that is linked in the thread or if it's not.
I also see an older Cyanogen thread for 12, but that's pre 6.0 and appears to be somewhat abandoned.
My Note 3 is on phronesis 6.0.1, and I would like to get the Note 10.1 to as close to that as possible, without dealing with any major bugs.
Thank you for your assistance.
Some progress.
I managed to update mine to Marshmallow 6.0.1 (cm-13.0-20160523-UNOFFICIAL-n8013.zip) via CWM v6.0.3.6 but Google Apps keeps crashing.
I've tried both open_gapps-arm-6.0-nano-20160721.zip (Open GApps) and gapps-600-base-20151107-1-signed.zip. Both take hours to install and just keep crashing whenever you try to do anything.
Anyone have any luck getting cm-13.0-20160523-UNOFFICIAL-n8013.zip / and GApps.zip working?

I had it crashing initially too, with CM-13.
I reinstalled the ROM, root, twrp, everything. I also made sure to install the latest "Stock" Gapps, before rebooting once the ROM was in place. Since then I have not had any issues.
I did however have some issues using the nano package. Hope that helps.
Still no joy
I still can't get CM-13 to work. I use CWM. I made sure I was using the latest CWM 6.0.4.6.
I booted into CWM, factory reset and cleared cache. Flashed cm-13.0-20160523-UNOFFICIAL-n8013.zip.
I then factory reset and cleared cache again and flashed gapps-600-base-20151107-1-signed.zip.
I then factory reset and cleared cache again and rebooted.
No joy.
What actual gApps and CM-13 did you use? Maybe I need to use the same version of TWRP as you used?
I'm stumped.

I used the ARM 6.0 Stock version for CM 13. http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Google_Apps#Downloads
I ended up swapping to the 2014 model because I got a good deal on a Verizon version (which is locked but oh well), so I don't recall the TWRP that I ran. It sounds like that sometimes gives people issues.
I do recall that using the nano version of gapps was not working for me. Could be a coincidence, but I had constant crashes when I tried using it.
This is the thread I used to grab the ROM and TWRP: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-10-1/development/rom-lollipop-t3269375
It helps to read the installation notes properly
The problem(s) I was having were resolved by using twrp-2.8.7.0-gt-n8013 instead of N8013-CWM-Touch-6.04.6. I also used open_gapps-arm-6.0-stock-20160803 instead of nano but I really think it was TWRP that made everything work.
I'm now running cm-13.0-20160523-UNOFFICIAL-n8013 without any problems.
I consider this thread closed.

How did you get KitKat on n8013. It was never released and no one successfully flashed 4.4 n8010 to n8013. Odin keeps giving an error. Please I've been trying for years now since it's been 2 years since update was released and doesn't look like it'll ever release (**** yoi Samsung with your update **** and regions)
Anyone have any luck? I've had this tablet since 2013 and I stopped using it because it has always been such a laggy sluggish experience. I thought I would try putting an AOSP ROM on it to see if that helped. Everything is so old for this device that it's nearly impossible to find the old files, ROMs, recoverys, etc. I can't even get TWRP or CWM to work on it. Maybe it's not worth the trouble anymore.

Well official only kitkat if you are international (Samsung decided not to release a lot of device updates in the us for kit kat including the s3, galaxy light, and this one). However I think you can get CM 13.1, idk about anything more recent but there is a (slightly) active community for it still left. Its a shame that this flagship tablet was neglected. I hope it doesn't happen with future Samsung ones but I've avoided buying any. I still use mine on jellybean for basic internet browsing and games

Not sure if you're still looking but I just installed Android Nougat v7.1.2 using the instructions provided here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2185119
I have a N8010 that topped out at 4.1.2. I flashed to a N8013 kernel/rom about 2 years ago which maxed out at 4.2.2 . I just recently found that link to the LineageOS build (Formerly Cyanogenmod) when I was contemplating buying a new tablet. The tablet was getting a bit sluggish so I decided to go ahead and blast it out and see what happened. I was VERY pleasantly surprised! Had some issues getting the Recovery flashed but once I did, it was pretty smooth from there. I had backed up all the apps so once I got it booted and restored all the apps, I was surprised how responsive it is. Oh, and you can say goodbye to all those SD card issues that the Note 10.1 had since this version of Android integrates the external SD with the internal SD so everything gets installed on the external card. No need for apps like folder mount, etc.
I highly recommend it. The only issue is that you lose the integrated S-Pen functionality but you can reinstall some of those apps from the play store and bring back a lot of those features. Some 3rd party apps actually work better.
Good luck!
7.1.2 on GT-N80013
I am currently running an unoffical build I picked up here on xda it is an unofficial Lineage OS build. I haven't currently found any bugs... camera works, bluetooth works, wifi works... at least for me. The build number is 14.1-20170810-unnofficial-n8013

I'd appreciate a link to the rom you installed. Thx.
I'm interested as well I'm still running original os. Also wondering if the rom update works well on these tablets since they are older. As Android matures the os gets bigger which can impact performance on older CPUs.

I recently installed Lineage OS 14 and it is working great.
Tablet is stable, everything works, great battery life.
All devices work gps, etc...
The s-pen will not work like it did stock but there are apps you can get that seem to work better
Squid and Sketch for drawing....squid seems cool if you write with stylus

Bare with me, I'm a total noob and I hold my hands up, I got a galaxy note 8.0, rooted it fine then I went to install CM 13 for it following partially instructions partially my own knowledge and now it's muffed. No matter how many times I tried it wouldn't work and I was messing around with it all night last night and all day today and in my infinat wisdom I removed all OS from it full stop. I have been sat here for 6 hours trying to put cm on it (tried 11, 12 and 13) tried installing stock marshmallow I downloaded from some site, and even some other ROM I can't remember off the top of my head (the logo is a horse's head or something) and yep nothing what so ever i have tried several different boot thingies like twrp and it always fails when I try to install the ROM, I know I should have backed up and I thought I had using titaniumbackup but that went with the OS. It's currently got twrp on it and I can get into that and connect it Odin (I think that's what it's called) but that's all I can do. Is it fixable or is it scrap? >.<
Update, after putting it down and thinking about it from another perspective I worked out a fix, it's back running 4.4.2 and works fine (on my note I will say the latest update of the Google app causes a problem with the system UI if you have Google now as your launcher) I'll update with full details in the morning in hopes that if anyone else has a similar problem this will help.

Hi All,
I have a two Relays that have served me well, and I enjoyed having them, but the time has come to pass them on to someone else. Before I do that, I'd like to update them to the most recent versions of stable-release software that is available for them.
For Cyanogen, I have:
cm-11-20150831 (this is stable)
cm-11-20160523 (this is a nightly build)
For recovery I have:
philz touch 6.48.4
I'd like to replace Philz with a newer TWRP, but the Relay is no longer listed on the TWRP website. I'm also wondering if there was ever a stable CM release newer than the one I have.
Does anyone have sources for the above?
Thanks.
Is there any one still developing for this device? If so, is it possible to get Android Go on it.. might just breathe new life into it and bring it upto date..

Although I'm not a developer I have been working on my SGH T699 from T Mobile. You may already know of the JellyBean and before. Recently I've noticed new builds for the samsung Galaxy S Relay 4G like the Validus 5.0.2 or the Fat Toad. I haven't tried those yet I was trying for a higher version. With 8.0 Oreo it requires partitioning and I need to brush up on that. So I went lower to the 7.0 or the 7.1 Nougat. I started noticing a lot of broken or old links so I had to resort to fishing the internet for most of the packages apparently lost in XDA. I pretty much have all of them and was just starting to try a few out when I ran into problems like I want to keep using the keyboard and Wifi calling or a related Wifi issue. It also crashed, went into bootloop or even soft bricked within a few days. The Roms and packages I've found are highly unstable and I see many had flashing issues. So far I've been tricking my device into taking the flash and even then it doesn't hold long. I'd like 6.0 MarshMallow if I can, maybe 7.1 if they ever get stabler that'd be great. But so far the ROMs for the Galaxy S (relay) are fairly horrible to say the least. I get the impression these so-called developers aren't testing their ROM creations more than 5 minutes and then handing them off to noobs who may be very likely to brick their device trying to get it in and running, only to have it crash repetedly! Or worse, hard-bricked.
I like this device. I think I'll keep working on it.
Casper Young.

Hi, I believe there is, but the thing is that this is like my third ROM on this phone (Decided to install a new one after my bluetooth headphones refused to connect with my phone while being able to connect just fine to literally everything else) & this is the first time I'm having issues like that. Before, when I managed to install the ROM then it was smooth sailing since hence why I'm asking for help. I've spent a few hours trying different ROMS already.

Understood. For some reason that is beyond my comprehension, it seems it is sometimes suggested to install stock and then a different custom ROM. Again, I don't know what it is actually supposed to do, as I've stayed with LineageOS to keep it simple. I'm not saying to stay with stock, just use it to get phone back to default, then start from there.
nuclear option..stock - hahaha )
Gawd Damit, I tried LineageOS too & a bunch of other stuff & it's always the same problem. I'm all out of ideas now.
