Hello,
I have a HTC ONE M9 from A1 Austria that I bought 18 months ago. It was working fine until today after I charged it (I shut it down before charging). When I started the phone, it immediately showed the bootloader without any reason. The configuration of the bootloader is this:
*** Software status: Modified ***
*** Locked ***
*** S-ON ***
*** Security Warning ***
I did select boot to recovery mode and tried factory resetting it (I wiped cache partition too) but without success.... it still starts in the bootloader.
The fun thing is that I didn't even try to root the phone or unlock the bootloader since I bricked an HTC ONE mini by trying to do so. I just charged it...
Could someone tell me how I restore everything to factory preset pls? It would be a pity if I had to reinvest in a new phone.
Looking forward to your answers
Nobody here to help?

Greetings and welcome to assist. I'm not certain if you can install stock firmware if your device is locked from this thread
https://forum.xda-developers.com/one-m9/help/htc-one-m9-stuck-htc-logo-bootloop-t3540558
but you could try flashing stock firmware from this thread

I've semi bricked my Phone, boo hoo. Please help I I'm hoping it is possable to fix.
Stuatus is:
*** LOCKED ***
S-ON
HBOOT 2.00.000
Freezes at the HTC logo when trying to boot.
I reached this situation by installing RUU_Saga_S_HTC_Europe_2.10.401.9_Radio_20.4801.30.0822U_3822.10.08.04_M_release_234765_signed.exe but I did neglect to switch the fastboot option off. Thoug I don't believe this is the issue.
I've tried using an old Vodafone ROM buy downloading a Vodafone RUU, extraxting the rom.zip and copying it to the SD card and renaming it PG88IMG.zip. The Andriod loader picked it up but complained it was an older version than installed software.
Please help. I've looking at pages on XDA and other sites for hours and hours and have got nothing to show for my efforts.
I'm thinking I either need to be able to:
1. Unlock (S off) the phone withough it being bootable, it this possable?
2. Or, find an very recent Vodafhone stock ROM that is compatable with hboot 2.00.002
Though I there may be other way of resolving this.
Many thank
Ivan
Things have moved on (a little).
Using the HTC book unlocker I now have:
*** UNLOCKED ***
S-ON
HBOOT - 2.00.0002
It still won't boot though :0(

It means you have already unlocked the phone and then relocked it again. But since it says Tampered and Security warning you still have custom apps or files in the system partition. Run a One SV RUU, though NOT a One S RUU, as they're completely different phones.
Edit: Could you state your software version number you had previously by any chance? Were you ATT branded or Europe Unbranded?

One SV should be available only in HK/TW(not sure about other region) and is completely different with One S because One SV is LTE available and used with IPS mon instead.
In your case, you'll need to find an One SV RUU and let it reload your phone to factory default. If you can't find any RUU on net because this phone is new and I think no support on XDA though, you have to go back to HTC customer service centre and ask them to do rom reload for you.
You already unlocked the bootloader and broken the warranty, so HTC may ask you a small charge but since you're not asking to replace the phone or do any parts repair, I think the fee should be very small.
One SV is also a good phone but no support on XDA, so I never suggest any guys to get it in HK though it should be the first device to get 4.1.2 OTA in HTC other than the HTC One.
Help

First try to reinstall the original bootloader, you may find it somewhere in XDA... then use a the right RUU from androidfiles . org
Remember that K2 is the key name for the One SV
Do not try and reinstall the bootloader. You might brick your phone. Instead, run an RUU. And if you want you can unlock it later.

Hello all
I am really excited because this my first thread on XDA, anyways lets get right into developing haha!
I brought this HTC ONE XL EVITA (UTL) MIddle Eastern Model last year and I used it for a couple of months. I was so enthusiastic waiting for the over the air update on my device, I think the update was android 4.2.2 at that time; and it was the final over the air update, however all HTC ONE XL EVITA devices received the update except the (UTL) model, and from here everything starts. I decided to root my device and install a cutsom rom on it. I was a beginner at that time so I had twrp installed and tried to flash a bunch of cusom roms without backing up my stock rom. I don't think normal EVITA custom roms are flashable on my (UTL) device, since my device was either stuck on the custom rom's boot logo screen or it turned right back off. I am pretty sure its not a boot loop cause i've done everything correctly. Now I am stick with a device with no rom installed. Finally not to waste more time I know that the device is old but want it back working, so any help would be so appreciable .
My current status if that could help:

*** relocked ***
*** security warning ***

hello everyone. you and i have the same problem.
Hello everybody,
I can't update my phone HTC One A9 to nougat using RUU_HIA_AERO_WHL_N70_SENSE80GP_SPCS_MR_Sprint_WWE_2.18.651.2.exe, an error 10 occurs when updating. After contacting HTC Support, they tell me that my phone have three changes on three parts (the bootloader status (formerly UNLOCKED, now RELOCKED), (2) the security status (S-OFF) and (3) the Recovery tool (TWRP). Since all three have been changed i must proceed restoring the stock features step by step. The first thing they recommend is to restore the Android Recovery tool to the stock recovery.
For the bootloader is OK , it is now relocked, but i cant restore the recovery.
I need your help, my phone is not stable at all.
thanks in advace.

Hello every body
more than 1 month after posting here and i cant find any help from our experts. it seems my problem is so tough.
after reinstalling Htc sync manager and trying to update with RUU it give error 132 signature error.
i am starting to hate HTC. After 8 years of fidelity I think it s time to change my beloved company.
Unlock bootloader again
Change cid to correct version
You may have to do updates manually up to latest to be able to flash 2.18 RUU
Boot phone into download mode
Run the RUU If get an error try suggested manual updates
Good luck

The first post made me lol, HTC CS as bad as usual, they don't know their own product.
Re-locking the bootloader wasn't necessary
Flashing back the stock recovery neither
You are getting error 132 because you are trying to flash a Nougat ruu (2.x.xxx.x) but your phone still runing the Marshmallow firmware (1.x.xxx.x). Normally this is not a problem to update HTC phones using a RUU but this particular model of HTC is problematic because they changed signature key between version 1.x and 2.x which mean even if you are trying to flash the right RUU version for your phone, you'll get a signature error if flashing from marshmallow to nougat.
This is easily fixable, manually update your firmware to Nougat (so your phone will have the new key) using fastboot then flash the Nougat RUU

This thread might help, in particular post #2 faq #4
Hello,
Recently I purchased a new (never used) HTC U11+
The first thing I did was apply all updates which took me to Pie.
However I was annoyed to see that Google Pay and Netflix no longer worked because my phone fails Play Protect.
As I had never rooted or done anything to the phone I was confused.
However I booted into Download mode and saw that my phone was already S-OFF and bootlocker unlocked:

-------------------
I am stuck. I want to use Netflix and Google Pay. Near as I can tell my bootloader needs to be locked (and maybe I need S-ON too??) for Play Protect to certify.
I have tried:
fastboot flashing lock
and got a warning page -- I chose YES to lock the bootloader. But it did not work. I tried twice. I had to factory reset my phone to get it to work again.
Next thought was to root the phone, but there is no TWRP for U11+ Pie.
Next thought was to side load Magisk root with adb. But I cannot find the Pie RUU for my edition (HTC__622, 2Q4D10000,2.19.400.2 )
Does anyone have any ideas? I found the RUU for 2Q4DIMG 2.19.4002 India and 2Q4DIMG 2.19.401.2 Europe.
Do I need to change the CID and MID on my phone using a hex editor (as described in other posts)?
Many thanks for any help
David
