U11+ developer edition, want to relock the bootloader - HTC U11+ Questions & Answers

Hello,
Recently I purchased a new (never used) HTC U11+
The first thing I did was apply all updates which took me to Pie.
However I was annoyed to see that Google Pay and Netflix no longer worked because my phone fails Play Protect.
As I had never rooted or done anything to the phone I was confused.
However I booted into Download mode and saw that my phone was already S-OFF and bootlocker unlocked:

I am stuck. I want to use Netflix and Google Pay. Near as I can tell my bootloader needs to be locked (and maybe I need S-ON too??) for Play Protect to certify.
I have tried:
fastboot flashing lock
and got a warning page -- I chose YES to lock the bootloader. But it did not work. I tried twice. I had to factory reset my phone to get it to work again.
Next thought was to root the phone, but there is no TWRP for U11+ Pie.
Next thought was to side load Magisk root with adb. But I cannot find the Pie RUU for my edition (HTC__622, 2Q4D10000,2.19.400.2 )
Does anyone have any ideas? I found the RUU for 2Q4DIMG 2.19.4002 India and 2Q4DIMG 2.19.401.2 Europe.
Do I need to change the CID and MID on my phone using a hex editor (as described in other posts)?
Many thanks for any help
David

***LOCKED***Security Warning on bootloader

Hi all,
I have tired to flash the new Rom yesterday and during checking the signature device reboot and installer said that it can not proceed.
After reboot phone goes directly into fastboot and gives ***Locked*** with Security Warning massage. I have tried different RUU but it is exactly the same.
Installation is failing on the checking signature.
I have tried Unrevoked3 but it is not able to find the device. Could you please let me know how to do it?

You will certainly get the answer there.
Link does not work:
Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms.
I have tried to find an answer but no luck so far, I am quite new to this. Is there anyone who can point me in the right direction?
Another solution is to try the RUU 2.10.401.8
I had some problems with the same Ruu, but not with the signature, and the previous version worked flawlesly.
What's your CID?
Sent from my HTC Desire S
I have tried few others RUU and every single of them is falling during the installation.
ok I manage to unlock the device finally
But again it is falling during the installation of a new ROM. Do I have to revert back Hboot to 0.98 before installation? if so how to do it?
So the RUU that I recommended completed successfully?
What do you want to do next?
Now you are S-ON, if you want to install custom roms you have to unlock your bootloader with the htcdev method(you will lose your warranty and need to flag manually the boot file) or to downgrade.
Sent from my Samsung Galaxy Tab
I want to downgrade the phone to orginal ROM T-mobile uk. So I could take off the simlock, I have put the unlocking code yesterday but nothing happens. I was advised to downgrade the rom and should be ok.
Could some help me out with my problem please when ever I am trying to upload new rom it is stuck on signature verification.
I will quote Enigmaamit as he said it better than me:

The only way to SIM-unlock your phone yourself is a XTC clip... better ask your phone operator.
I know the diffrance between those two, I have ordered unlocking code. After putting this into device when ever I put into new sim card it stoped nofifing me about it. But it is not able to find a new network. Below what I have receive form operator:
"It said "Successful" but nothing has happened

This has happened to a handful of customers who have all had one thing in common - the phones have been "rooted".
By rooting a handset the owner has removed some of the restrictions on the phone, which allows the owner to install whichever software of the phone that they wish. Unfortunately this has caused some issues when an unlock code has been entered.
It is easily rectified by reinstalling the original operating system that the phone was supplied with, then applying the unlock code and the phone should be unlocked, truly, successfully.
You can then reinstall the software you had on the phone before attempting the unlock and continue using the phone as you wish."
So that is the reason why I am trying to revert any changes.
i for one don't believe this
So their replay is bull**** in that case?
In my opinion yes(i can't say that i am a very experienced user) but i like to think i know some stuff about this.
I can't imagine what custom rom/Ruu version/app will "block" you to sim unlock your phone.
The only restrictions may be made by the phone manufacturer.
So i will try through HTC Clip in that case. But why I can upload any new RUU?
like i said earlier, i had some problems to with the 2.10.401.9 ruu.
Try the 2.10.401.8 it should work, if your phone is branded try a gold card.

[Q] My phone is bricked (or what ever)

Hi
Before starting I want you to know that I have been through 5-10 threads regarding the subject problem and still not know what to do. I am basically a layman to Flashing. The most adventurous thing I have done is downgrading a Sony Xperia Arc S from ICS to Gingerbread using a simple sofware sort of thing called "flashtool" and downloading ......... (i am leaving it blank cuz at the moment I am quite confused. Lets call it its original firmware)
And before I can explain the problem I am confused between the following terms: RECOVERY, ROM, KERNEL and RUU. Kernel i know is a software layer between H/w and OS. But then why we need to flash it seperately???? it should be a part of OS: which i think is called a ROM. RUU is the update to a recovery. but what exactly is the difference between ROM and RECOVERY. both seem to be like some sort of an image file that contains complete OS. Then there are bloody BOOTs that you have to unlock and keep lock at some times. God knows why
Now coming to the problem:
My HTC One X (bought here in Pakistan and should be containing the international firmware, i dont know for sure)
One fine morning a few days ago my phone showed up the update HTC released recently which changes the appearance of the GUI. I was quite happy to see it and immediately selected the option to install the update. The update ran and installed successfully. I used the new GUI for 2 days or so and then suddenly my phone got stoned (or brick or stuck). It turned off when i tried to use it and then started showing

..... i am trying to root the device using hansoon. but for that i need to generate some sort of a code. Now my device is showing up one option named barcode where i can see MB SN and IMEI of the device. is it possible to generate that code using these three???
I think I have posted it in the wrong forum. mods please delete it. I am starting a new thread in the right forum

[Q] HTC One - Return to stock Help!

Hi All,
I'm a novice when it comes to Android so I really need all the help I can get. Thanks in advance to all contributions.
So I had a HTC One that was on firmware 4.2.2 Maximus HD firmware, rooted, and bootloader unlocked.
I attempted to return it back to the same state as it was when I first got the phone.
The phone was from O2 UK originally.
I attempted to follow some guides online, and managed to unroot my phone, and lock my bootloader, and using this RUU
RUU_M7_UL_JB_50_HTC_Europe_1.20.401.1_Radio_4A.13.3227.06_10.27.1127.01_release_308001_signed_2_4
I managed to return to stock... only problem is,I then attempted to get an OTA update and nothing showed up
I then read somewhere that I needed to change my CID which I then changed from HTC__001 to O2___001
but still no luck, no OTA detected.
I then found something online called Guru resets from htc1guru.com so I unlocked my bootloader again.
As it stands, the bootloader is showing this information:
**** Unlocked ****

After unlocking the bootloader, I came to the realisation that I have no idea what im doing
So I decided to come here. Please help me...

New to HTC but not XDA ?s about unlocking s-off etc.

I just picked up an HTC One A9 open box off of Amazon that was labeled as an unlocked phone. After receiving it, it is actually an AT&T branded phone. I'm contemplating returning it, but if I can get it to work like a normal unlocked device I'll keep it. I am on AT&T for my service but despise having any carrier branded devices. I'm coming to the A9 from a Nexus 5 and a Moto X Pure. I got sick of the huge size of the MXP and have been back on my Nexus 5 with the last nightly of CM before it shutdown. I picked the A9 for a few specifics. I got it cheap, it has fingerprint sensor, FM radio (I have a farm in rural OK that has poor cell so the FM radio was a big incentive to buy), smaller screen and expandable storage.
So, I've been reading the A9 sub-forum here and have a few questions if anyone could be kind enough to help me out and clear things up.
1. How can I tell if the device I got is carrier unlocked?
2. Can I unlock the bootloader like normal and install other ROMs?
3. Can I download the official HTC Firmware for unlocked/developer A9 and flash it on what appears to by my AT&T device?
4. S-Off, not sure where to begin. Is this required to flash other ROMs, or just to flash other radios, recoveries etc? If I'm going to have to pay $25 for additional software I'll most likely be returning the device.
5. CyanogenMod now Lineage OS - I was running this on my Nexus and want to do the same with the A9, or at least try it out. Is S-Off required to run CM/LineageOS?
6. FM radio - did AT&T remove the app from their device? I just downloaded NextRadio Free Live FM Radio from the app store and it looks to be able to access the FM tuner and work, but I'd prefer the stock HTC app.
Sorry for so many questions, but it looks like the community here on XDA for this device is pretty small with sparse/spread out information and I'm having trouble finding what I need.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

1- you will need another sim card
2- yes. But you will most likely need to s-off and convert to USA unlocked to get newer firmware. USE ONLY 1.57! Do not upgrade to nougat if you would like to use custom roms or have root.
3-yes, but s-off must be purchased from HTTP://www.theroot.ninja
4-yes you will most likely need to pay the $25 utility from the website above.
5-yes, unless you want to run the one from January 2016
6- yes at&t did remove the app BC they are stupid, you also cannot access it from CyanogenMod or lineagos
Also, I think you can still download CyanogenMod from get.cm. if not hmu, I have a copy.
If you want to know how to convert to USA unlocked, I can help you.
Boot logo is not mean the carrier lock, try your sim it may work.
Try booting into download mode and check the cid and mid. And see if they match the AT&T model, Also see if it is s-off or not. Chances are it is a converted phone. If not then follow the steps mentioned above

Thanks for all the info. I was able to unlock the bootloader but it seems like that was fairly pointless. I downloaded the TWRP and when I try to flash from fastboot it is unable to write the new recovery because S-on. So really there is no way to flash custom ROMs even with an unlocked bootloader without S-off. Am I correct? Before I purchase the S-off tool I'm going to contact Amazon and see what they can do since they clearly mislabeled the item listing. Thanks again for the help. I'll let you know if I decide on doing the conversion.

You don't flash things from fastboot/bootloader. If you want to flash use "ADB reboot download" or boot while holding power+volume down

Good news is I was able to contact Amazon support and tell them about the incorrect item listing. I talked them into giving me a 25% refund on my purchase for the mistake. With that credit I got Sunshine purchased and have succesfully installed SuperSU and completed S-OFF on the latest RUU for AT&T. This evening I'll see if I can complete the conversion process and get over to the unlocked/developer RUU.

One thing!! Don't flash the nougat RUU. Just flash the 1.57 RUU if you want to use custom roms, as anything above 1.57 is newer firmware that is not compatible with custom roms at this time and is not downgradeable.

HTC One A9 updating to nougat problem !

Hello everybody,
I can't update my phone HTC One A9 to nougat using RUU_HIA_AERO_WHL_N70_SENSE80GP_SPCS_MR_Sprint_WWE_2.18.651.2.exe, an error 10 occurs when updating. After contacting HTC Support, they tell me that my phone have three changes on three parts (the bootloader status (formerly UNLOCKED, now RELOCKED), (2) the security status (S-OFF) and (3) the Recovery tool (TWRP). Since all three have been changed i must proceed restoring the stock features step by step. The first thing they recommend is to restore the Android Recovery tool to the stock recovery.
For the bootloader is OK , it is now relocked, but i cant restore the recovery.
I need your help, my phone is not stable at all.

The first post made me lol, HTC CS as bad as usual, they don't know their own product.
Re-locking the bootloader wasn't necessary
Flashing back the stock recovery neither
You are getting error 132 because you are trying to flash a Nougat ruu (2.x.xxx.x) but your phone still runing the Marshmallow firmware (1.x.xxx.x). Normally this is not a problem to update HTC phones using a RUU but this particular model of HTC is problematic because they changed signature key between version 1.x and 2.x which mean even if you are trying to flash the right RUU version for your phone, you'll get a signature error if flashing from marshmallow to nougat.
This is easily fixable, manually update your firmware to Nougat (so your phone will have the new key) using fastboot then flash the Nougat RUU
