This is my first day, mainly wi-fi, should be 18hrs 30m sot for a full charge.
Been out and about today, so wi-fi and mobile data and battery life should work out about 13 hours sot time.

9 days
Great phone

Truly amazing stats! Beats the crap out of my "battery monster" Oukitel K6000 Pro who can only reach ~9h SOT on a daily basis. (100% to 15%)

so far best battery life phone I had

Almost 6 days on a smartphone is just ridiculous ?
Mine lasts about 2-3 days but my SOT time is about 14-18 hours over that time.

^This is much even for P2 bro...Do you read ebooks all the time? Not gaming or downloading stuff via 4G? The average SOT for P2 is ~9-10h.

I would say average is more like 15 hours based on own usage. Over several days. 9-10 only and we have problems in my opinion. Some kind of drain.

Or just an hour or two of gaming. The average for me is 12h SOT, from 100℅ to 15℅ with 2h gaming for over 3 days on a single charge.

just curious at which value you ALL people....setted the luminosity.
i think you set it at leadt at 35/40/50% or it's a non sense to let us know a GREAT sot.... but with a such dim display almost unusable by 80% of people.....
however i'm very envious of your sot... i recently bought a RN3P and it's ok..... but i was undecided between it and p2, but p2 hassomething i really hate.... buttons on display
if lenovo had done the p2 with classic 3 capacitive buttons....... it would be my actual phone.
however i'm really temped to sell my phone and get this.... i themed mine with substratum .. all BLACK..... i know amoled display like p2 would save A LOT of power..... mmmm

the P2 is not without it`s glitches (as most phones) but the battery is a big advantage,I go out with the battery at 50% all day knowing the phone will not run out of charge (on previous phones I always carried a powerbank)
This phone is IMO excellent value for the price.

After nougat update many bugs are solved. Battery remains great

70% auto brightness, wifi and data on all the time, about 60% of time wifi was my main connection

15h is easily achievable with lower brightness, good network connection and no intensive/background apps. The people getting 18h+ who don't show power drain profile i question. Also, I've noticed my stats don't reset if i do a brief charge. Or i could plug in a low current trickle charge from a computer usb. Would look like very slow power drain but i could post u some crazy stats! The most important stat really is the minimum SoT. If you run full brightness as I have been, with a bit of everything, you will get minimum of 11-12h SoT. Still going through a charge now, so will post final stats tomorrow. But 2d+ use, and 12h SoT with maxed settings doing whatever i like is epic from a fast smart phone!!!

8 days on a battery! Epic.
Rom S062_170117_ROW
11h45m SOT! From 95% to 10%.
No gaming, lots of browsing, youtube, downloading stuff.
WiFi only, brightness on auto.

I'm pretty heavy user, no gaming though. Apart from regular calling and messaging, I browse a lot, lot of music, every imaginable form of social media and hours of music, I get an average of 14-16 hours of SOT.
The only problem is with Hike messenger (most probably the app's fault), the SOT reduces by almost half. With below average Hike usage, the SOT I can squeeze out 8-9 hours barely.
Edit: WiFi or Jio 4G always on 24 hours a day. Brightness is manual.

Could probably push 20h SOT with only wifi, 2G, auto sync, gps etc. disabled.

I'm not either. High accuracy mode was on the whole time
Out (on LTE only, no Wifi) and about regular usage (web, news, maps/navigation) - 13%/hour ~7.6 hours SOT
Camera (because the camera is THAT great) + Google photos editing and uploading - 17-25%/hour ~ 4-6 hours SOT
At home on Wifi regular usage- 6-7%/hour ~ 15 hours SOT
So was doing some testing for battery life. Used it till it shut off just a few minutes ago. I had taken a screen shot at 1% about 5min before it powered down figuring it was close. I took the phone off the charger yesterday at about 6:30am. I am not sure why wifi shows as 0% but I have been on wifi most of the day. I really liked the old Android battery screens better that showed wifi and cellular signal strength data as well.
From my experience the SOT is not even the problem. How is the standby battery consumption? The thing is I get 10 hours SOT on my Moto Z Play if I do a lot. BUT if I use the phone only lightly I'll still don't get more than 2 days battery life even though you would expect much more.

Yeah I know but the thing is: compared to standby times of my iPhone 7 Plus the Pixel XL 1 standby was a joke.
I have installed basically the same apps on both devices. So I just hope that Android will finally catch up with Android 8, because up to now all Google initiatives to have better battery life were pretty bad.
That's why I would be interested to hear how this is going on the XL2.
This is going for 9+ hours sot!

Mind sharing your settings/apps? I'm at the same percentage as you but barely getting 2hours sot :/ I don't think I have any battery draining apps installed besides instagram and snapchat. Maybe its standby drain? I lost almost 10% overnight (6 hours) and I'm not sure if this is normal.

You also have 10 hours more off the charger. I think that could easily result in the 1 hour difference in screen on time.

Pretty solid screen on time binge watching stranger things season 2. Honestly I think I could get another hr or more still with 22% left.

Light use endurance

Once in a while, when your significant other yells at you, you might use your phone a bit less. Rate this thread to express how the Google Pixel 2 XL's battery performs under light use. A higher rating indicates that the device goes a long time when you're using the phone sparingly: no gaming or video/audio streaming, light web browsing, some calling and texts, etc.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Out and about (LTE/cell service only) - 13%/hour
At home on Wifi - 6-7%/hour
21h with 4h screen on, 40% left
With what I would consider light usage (email, web browsing, messaging, lots of YouTube) I have really been impressed with the battery life! Over 8hrs screen on time with my first few cycles so far. Based on this, I'm guessing that even with heavier usage (games, etc.) that I would still be pretty happy with the longevity. With very similar usage I was getting around 4-5hrs SOT on my original Pixel XL and was happy with it. Interested to hear how the battery has been for others as well.
I've been very happy. Last night I forgot to charge so I woke up with 48% battery. I plugged in for 25 minutes while getting ready for work. Left the house with 87%. Now, 9 hours later, I have had 2 hours screen on time of mixed wifi/LTE, browsing, email, Facebook, texting, a few pictures and a little YouTube. 20% brightness. Location set to high accuracy, Now Playing turned on, AOD off, Google account sync on. I am at 65%. That's a drain of 22%. Under the same conditions and usage my Nexus 5X would have drained over 40%.
This is the first smartphone I've had (I've had a Nexus One, Galaxy SII, Nexus 5, Nexus 5X and now Pixel 2 XL) that I can say that the battery life is GREAT.

This phone is ridiculous. I haven't charged it since Monday...
I won't pretend I'm a "heavy usage" person with my phone. But I've never been able to get 2 full days of usage from any of my previous phones. Most of them barely lasted 24 hours. This one is going to reach 48+ hours, easy.
I work from home full time so I'm connected to my home wifi almost all the time, which helps. I get out of the house a total of 2-3 hours a day to walk the dog, go to the gym, or meet clients for lunch. So during that time it's on full LTE with no wifi. I tend to use the phone for 2-3 client calls per day (30-60 minutes each while paired with my bluetooth headphones), listening to music at the gym (~60 minutes while paired with my bluetooth headphones), some light usage of social networking apps and Youtube videos throughout the day.
I know battery life consists of a large amount of factors but it's safe to say that with the same usage, this phone outlasts all my previous phones by at least 1.5x. It's fantastic.
Battery life sucks now compared to pre-February security patch.
Light endurance usage: 15% brightness w/auto brightness off just browsing, Facebook and a little texting on wifi. That's no games, Bluetooth off, Location on high accuracy but not doing much (ie no Maps navigation), no video, no music, no camera, no phone calls etc.
Pre February security update:
Screen on: ~10%/hr
Stand by: ~0.3333%/hr
Best battery life: 9 hours SOT over 1 day, 16 hours off the charger
Now (after February and March security updates):
Screen on: ~15%/hr
Stand by: ~0.5%/hr
Best battery life: 6 hours SOT over 1 day off the charger
Stand by battery drain up like 60% and SOT battery drain up like 50%. Very disappointing for a phone that is only 5 months old. If I break it down to a per mAh it's now no better than my Nexus 5X.
After first charge I am getting 2%/h standby drain, hope things will improve
SOT and idle drain still holding strong for my usage patterns. April update + root + Flash kernel. Not a social media user, and don't use many power/ram intensive apps :good:

just went 1 day 20 hours with 4 hours SOT and 20% left.
Data or wifi always on. Bluetooth and gps always on
No one listens to music offline only anymore ?
What is the battery consumption e.g. with PowerAMP (or similar players) and listening to music for several hours like in battery % ?
Thanks
Not me. I stream my music and play over Bluetooth. But for reference, the Nexus 6P was rated at 100 hours. So I doubt the Pixel 2 XL would be any worse.

I listen to music offline. For the first several months of having the phone I could play over Bluetooth and I'd use about 7% per hour. Playing over a wired connection used 4% per hour. Now it's like 8% per hour over a wired connection and 12% per hour over Bluetooth. Damn monthly updates.

Compared to what it was for the 1st 3 months, yeah, that's bad. Maybe he never experienced how good battery life was before several of the updates so he doesn't really have a basis for comparison. Like I said, with the same time off the charger and screen on time I have about the same 20% battery left as well but for the first few months that same off the charger and screen on time left me with about 50% left. Draining almost 30% battery for the same use just a few months later is a big deal. Oh, and that's after trying a factory reset which at first (about a half a day) seemed like it helped but quickly showed that it didn't help at all.
What you were getting for the first three months was remarkable for sure but wasn't what everyone gets. Like a lot of things battery life has a bell curve and you were just on the extreme right of it. Now you're "only" getting what the majority, middle part of the bell is getting and unhappy with it. Still doesn't mean it's bad. Now it's just average.

Any other Exynos users getting much below the average quoted SOT?

I'm on day 2 of using my UK Note 20 Ultra and the battery life is leaving a lot to be desired. Today I'm currently sitting at 49% battery with 1 hour 30 minutes screen on time. I'm using it very lightly as I'm mostly desk based while working.
I know the phone is still "Learning usage patterns" but this seems very little usage to be sitting below 50%. Is anyone else seeing similar?

similar scenario for me unfortunately, i got 3 hours SOT which bought it down to 14% before i charged. Will give a week or so to see if it improves before deciding to return it or not.
Yeah you need to give it time and completely discharge the battery before charging again
Same Uk Model, its been absolutely appaling.. the things also getting too hot all the time doing basic stuff but forcing the dim screen. I'm really not too happy with this so far.. just had an update so maybe this will improve things... though as above gonna give it a week or so to see if things settle down.

Same here this thing gets super hot, just light browsing socials the screen gets warm. Just typing this out had lost me 1%. Have you got bad standby drain also? Mines terrible with absolutely nothing running. Samsung are theives not upgrading the chipset in this phone but giving the US brand spanking new Snapdragons?
Today was my 1st day using the note 20 ultra at work and I also had below par battery life, got around 2.5 hours sot during a 12 hour shift at the end of which the battery was below 10%, phone was on medium/low brightness using lte with low reception and my phone also got warm to the touch when browsing.
It takes about a week or more to settle for sure but these early reports are looking really bad @ the Exynos especially in terms of batterylife and unusual heating.
I ended today on 13% battery with 2hrs52mins SOT. Also find the phone gets extremely hot when doing basically anything for an extended period. Can't see me keeping this past the end of the first week, there's so much ground it would have to make up.
should i pull the trigger ? i can save mad money on the exynos version
i mean roms will be amazing for it
which can help it
Overnight about 8h now use battery dropped 12%
I'm not an exynos fan but getting 4:30 SOT and no heat at all. I haven't opened any games yet though just installed them
Just done a rolling video test with the Note 8 and Note 20 ultra. Both on full brightness playing the same set of files.
The Note 8 display is brighter and more colourful. After 3 hours or so the Note 20 ultra has 82% left and the Note 8 has 76%
If you look at the difference in battery capacity (4500 vs 3300) and the difference in screen size then I would say the Note 8 performs better even with the brighter display.
Im currently on snapdragon, but my s10+ was exynos and I never had this drain you guys are experiencing. This is unacceptable. I hope you guys can figure it out.
Remember the battery takes a couple of days to "learn your usage"
I never trust those marketing gimmick said it will learn your usage and batt life will improves... Just put all apps you did not use into deep sleep and frequent use into sleep. That give me 6 to 7 hours SOT 120hz with 10% left
4th day in Exynos. Phone has been on for 3 hours, 45 mins SOT consisting of browsing socials, no apps running in background 75% battery remaining ? This is terrible, can't see it getting better....
This is mine...
I'm getting about the same as my Note 10+. Moderate use all day and still have 30 to 40% left. So I'm happy.

Note 20 Ultra (Exynos) poor battery life

Anyone here have any tips to increase the battery life of my Note 20 Ultra? Barely get 3.5 hours of SoT despite being a medium power user. Just scrolling through social media and watching youtube. Shouldn't that get me way more SoT than what I currently experience?
Use the function to let the apps go in deep sleep, this will give the battery a big boost, another good thing to do is a full factory reset, I'm getting in between 6-8 hours a day in battery life. (I'm on the android 11 beta though)

I tried the first option already. I also did a factory reset like 3 times. I even sent my device for repair but they couldn't find any issues and it peformed to Samsung standards according to the repair service.
Yet I still average 3.5 hours SoT with below medium usage.
Sold that garbage phone. Now got the Find X2 Pro and I'm getting 6 hours SoT on the first charge with the same usage.
Give the battery some time to optimize. After 3 to 4 weeks the battery has improved on a daily basis. I constantly get around 6 to 8 hours SoT with a full day's use (over 20 hours total usage including spotify background usage of around 2 hours). Over the weekend from morning to evening on the phone, I got 11 hours SoT - 16 hours total usage - mostly streaming netlix and youtube and doing nothing else with the phone. Phone on medium power saving, which is more than what I need for my usage (emails, lots of streaming netflix & youtube, calls etc.). If you do gaming, you should try to leave battery saving on optimized.
Also noticed that same battery tech used in note 10 plus. Friends of mine who use that phone still get amazing battery life after a full year of use. They also saw noticeable battery improvement from after one month of full use. No idea why this happens. Also I exchanged my first one because of the battery issue after 3 weeks of use. With the replacement I gave it a full month and saw a huge improvement!!!
I sold my Note 20 Ultra a few days ago and bought the Oppo Find X2 Pro and on the first day 5-6 hours SoT and now on average 6-7 hours. **** Samsung.

On standby took 3 days no charge. On 4th beta.
I also sold mine exynos... Wlan is okay but if you outdoors and use mobile data (5g off!) the phone cant hold its Charge. Its an amazing phone (looks nice, feels nice, fast, but a little hotter than other phones wich is okay... But if i must charge two times a day... Yes tried factory reset, Medium battery save,debloatin...) its sad that Samsung has gone with this bad exynos...
Surprisingly, despite having google play services at the top of my battery usage and running constantly, I'm surprised how good this is on Exynos. Think I seem to have hit the golden trade off between usage and settings. Had 22 hours standby, 3 hours screen on and approximately 45% battery left. Had 18 hours standby and 6 hours screen on the day following. Adaptive power kicks in at around 11pm and seems to be a very good trade off. No noticeable slowdown whatsoever.
More than happy.
First day
Following day, same charge
I read somewhere that the adaptive battery setting actually makes the battery life worse for some users (i guess this is subjective). Have you run the phone without adaptive battery saving?

On my 10+ running on Pie the only power setting is for the display/cpu power mod, Optimize.
Any other power management screws up functionality and increases battery consumption.
I simple close apps when done, sometimes not even that.
All buckets show as active; Android automatically handles them; no 3rd party power management needed.
Actually solving excessive battery use takes a lot more effort than flipping the Device Care toggles which if active only complicates the task of finding the hogs, causing excessive power usage as well as causing unpredictable behavior with apks. This doesn't show up immediately but over a course of days it seems.
Only fast charging is toggled.
Eventually all 3rd power management apps cause conflicts with the native Android system as far as I have observed.
Just feel good junk that causes problems rather than fixes them.
One may have been part of the cause of a boot loop that cost me 2 back to back reloads...

Question Pixel 6a - Thoughts at the end of day 2

So you know where I'm coming from, I upgraded from a 3a, but so far...?
The fingerprint reader is ace, and works no matter how sweaty my finger might be. No issues at all. It just works.
Screen is great, and far better than the 3a when it comes to colour temp.
Battery is big! From 100% to 15% today, day 2, and I've managed 7.5 hours SOT. That's with YouTube videos, browsing, a few hours of podcasts over Bluetooth.
Tensor is fast. I mean an abacus is fast compared to the 3a, but still, this thing is smooth, and the phone isn't even notably warm https://nox.tips/ https://xender.vip/.
And finally, this thing feels big compared to the 3a, but way more premium. It doesn't feel cheap.
So while there's lots of negative reviews out there from tech reviewers, hopefully you can find balance in the voice of a normal phone user.
Also coming from a 3a (XL though) I agree on how premium this feels (and is) comparatively. The screen is absolutely improved and the SOC is night an day better.
Thats said, FP under the screen sucks....I REALLY wish this still had the rear mount physical sensor. While I havent had the same nightmare stories others have this is no where near as good a FPR as the 3a was.
Battery is less vs my 3a XL but that had a lot bigger batter vs the normal 3a. Heat is a mixed bag, sometimes its unnoticed and sometimes it gets very toasty. Its a lot better now with my current kernel vs stock, but with added power comes added heat.
All in all though, yes depending on what device youre coming from this is a LOT better. This isnt a premium, flagship device and people need to stop comparing it with them. Its also not a cheap Chinese brand with questionable everything. This is the nicest "A" series device Ive seen/used.
had pixel 6a for 2 weeks, coming from a rugged phone with 5800mah battery, so for me pixel6a battery looks ridiculous, sorry google

I've found battery to be mediocre at best. 6-6.5 hrs onscreen over 12 hours or so. Low brightness, just flipping around social media and web and chat. But that is with LTE only, with some or all WiFi would be different story. Deep sleeping fine. Deep sleep drain is pretty crappy as well.

me with normal use, always 5g with optimal reception, lasted 12h from 100% to 10%. Good point with wifi but I had not the possibility to compare
12 hours on 5g is pretty good with this device stock. Make sure if you havent already, to disable adaptive connectivity, and try LTE vs 5G.

Screen on time with 6a? Unbelievable. Wouldn't even come close. All reports, reviews, anecdotal user reports show this isn't possible. I've been testing it thoroughly for last month and definitely impossible.
No screen on time, just my normal phone use, and Google says It lasts 24h, it's not true

Ahhh sorry. Didn't mean to sound like a ****. I could have just asked if you meant screen on time. Thanks for confirming. Yeah LTE and WiFi when possible, if screen on/battery drain is important should make a big difference.
Out of the box this is one of the worst devices I've used in a LONG time. However, my old OnePlus 8 (dd) had to go. Just to charge I had to hold the cord at an angle, and quick charge stopped working. Then random reboots and freezes killed me. I could tell the phone was on its last legs. Same glitches regardless on stock/custom. Battery lost a lot of charge in one year.
Either way after trade in I paid $188. It's a sidegrade, which is totally fine. Most CPUs perform about the same outside of benchmarks. Battery and heat are my only complaints. Hopefully the 8a/9a are better because the rectangular shape, and camera visor have really grown on me.
Deep sleep 2 hours. Use 20 minutes, battery down to 83% :/ Honestly it's just terrible. The phone gets hot just flipping around FB. Otherwise it's fine. I'll hang onto it for a year and trade it in for 7a hoping they get these issues solved somewhat. We'll have a clue with 7 and 7 Pro. The heat I can deal with but battery life is weak. That also I can deal with but just disappointing given the device is great otherwise.

24 hours off the charger with 4h screen on including 50 min of gps, browsing, YouTube, and some music streaming. Battery down to 43% which is acceptable for my needs.

Have found that PIA VPN was burning huge amount of battery... Much better battery life without it. Looking at about 8 hours onscreen over a 20 hours with LTE.
