New rooting method, anyone tried? - Honor 8 Questions & Answers

Hi, as we know we dont have to unlock bootloader to rooting the phone. But on Honor 8 its only possible to have rooted phone by flashing supersu script by twrp.
So, anyway, you tried kingroot method? (Below link to download). Works on many phones. Then you can remove it by script to have supersu app.
Anyone to test?

Oh, i just seen too. So i clicked " request".
I will looking if they make it available because with this method we will not loss warranty by unlocking bootloader.

I don't think one click root methods work for any newer phones since like Android 4.4 or maybe Android 5.0.
Anyway all you have to do is "fastboot oem relock bootloader xxxxxxxxxxxxxx" (x represents your 14 digit unlock code you get from Huawei website) and your bootloader is relocked. Just remember every time you unlock or relock it factory resets your phone.

But when service will check the phone they will see bootloader status as relocked. So you will loss warranty.

After some time it shows error. But try to click "request" and they will make working method. I used kingroot for my lg g2m and it worked well.

I did click request, twice now. It shies 64 requests. FRD-L04

Yes, your bootloader is locked.. try again via fastboot to unlock it.
You'll need the original key when you are trying it
the Command is something like "fastboot oem unlock *key*".
I know that. Have you seen my problem?? but, thank you anyway! I need to no why i get "wrong password" and what means "frp unlock".

I tried it again. It doesn't work fu****g huawei...
I have taken 4 picures when i tried it. Can you find an issue? I don't think that i have made something wrong...
Thank you
I've had the same problem and it turned out that the first bootloader code i used ( with DC unlocker) is different from the one i got on the Huawei website.
So what i did eventually was to pay for the DC unlocker again.
I also downgraded back to MM, because i did not manually relock the bootloader before updating to N, which apparently locks the bootloader in a different way.
So I suggest dowgrading to MM and unlocking there plus relocking it before updating again,
IF you are sure you have the right / original bootloader code you used before,
or
use a 3rd party tool like DC unlocker to get the code.
You might have to downgrade to MM as well with this method . Not sure
Edit: Fyi, never post your IMEI online

It should either be an exe somewhere or just a bat file.
This tool does the same thing as a command window in the sense of unlocking the bootloader.
As far as I know it won't help with your problem.
Frp ( Factory reset protection) requires you to sign with your google account if enabled or you can't use the phone. ( Theoretically that is, I'm i noob myself so no idea)
But it was "locked" ( same as in your pics that is ) for me as well anf I didn't have a problem with it.

Safety is the enemy of freedom!! -.- Sounds very complicated! (sorry for my bad english). So, i was on android 6.1 and unlocked and rooted it. Than had my problems with root again (maybe the wrong supersu file, or something) Then i have downloaded update.app from hihonor and installed it from the external sd card and everything is working fine on my phone. but i can not unlock it. maybe i have the wrong software for my location ore something like that?
FRP unlock means "You have to unlock"? if its unlocked there will be "FRP unlocked"? i am right?
Maybe i should try the whole procedure from beginning. rollback, update etc.. and then try to unlock. or should i contact huawei?
Thank you and a nice evening *cheers* ^^

I have the same trouble, I obtained my unlock key from huawei (I'm not going to give my imei to someone else), but I get wrong password.
How can I downgrade to MM? I'm on linux, so I cannot use that multitool (also, I prefer to make thing manually).

For downgrade you need a rollback package..
What is your model number and build number??
I have an honor FRD-L09 with build FRD-L09C432B394
I understood that I nned to rollback to emui 4.1 (android MM), then unlock, but after this step I cannot receive ota's so how can I return back to Nougat stock? And you have a trusted download for the needed packages?
I just want to use Titanium Backup to restore all my stuff... and some modifications (pixel launcher, magisk with some modules, viper audio, ad block, something this simple), nothing usually complex!
Thank you!

For downgrade process you don't need to unlock bootloader..when you downgrade you will receive OTA updates..
To use TB you need root..which is required unlock bootloader..
Why you want to go back to MM BTW??

Bottloader Unlock + Nougat update Help

hello guys... I want to unlock bootloader of my BLN-L21 model. I have a few questions before doing anything.
1. If I unlock BL on Marshmallow, will I be able to update to nougat through OTA UPDATE?
2. I have BL unlock code (Obtained through website selecting BEFORE EMUI5.0). Can I use the same code to unlock BL after updating to nougat?
3. I want to download official update package using Firmware Finder. It show 2 firmwares with same serial but one of them is MF and other one is MF-PV. What is the difference b/w the two?

Yes dload is the easiest way if the Settings app is not alerting you of an update. Some users reported that flashing the firmware through TWRP doesn't work. But for me, I tried it before in Marshmallow and it worked. I do not recommend this though. Stick to dload. :highfive:

Actually I can't exactly remember. But yeah I think the update is saved in internal storage. Because once it's downloaded, you can either install it now or later. While downloading the update, check inside the dload folder or any other folder with HW in its name. Check if there is a file there that grows in size as the download progresses.

Android Q on Converted T-Mobile OP7 Pro

As you know finally there is the MSM Tool for converting your T-Mobile branded OP7 Pro to international.
I have fully converted, downloaded the Android Q Developer preview and tried installing it via Local Upgrade has instructions said with no luck.
1. The .Zip file is in the root directory
2. The extension is .Zip and not .Jar
3. Local upgrade recognizes the .zip file but fails to install
Anybody has tried yet? This is what I get.

I saw the video, but the one used on it was an originally International OP7 Pro.
I would love to hear from someone with the T-Mobile variant. Don't think there would be to much of a difference but it's worth trying.

If you flash the beta on the T-Mobile variant the it's the same beta as the unlocked device. You need to be bootloader and SIM unlocked and it will work the same as flashing the International OS or most custom ROMs

Downgrading the android version with Moto firmware is always a risk.
If you downgrade you need to disable updates, OTA updates could brick the device.
Once the bootloader is unlocked, find your
Software Channel, it will be like, Retail, RetUS, Verizon, metroPC
You can find your firmware here
https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/moto/sofiap/official/
download. and Unzip it
Check if your device uses fastbootd
Flash option 1
Find the flashfile.xml in the firmware folder
and use the online flashfile converter to get the flash commands
add the fastboot reboot fastboot commands if you have a fasbootd device.
Flash Option 2
Install LMSA
use the rescue option to download the current firmware for your device
move the LMSA firmware to a different folder
rename the Android 10 firmware folder to the same name as LMSA firmware.
Move that folder to LMSA download folder
Use the rescue option to flash renamed firmware.
There is no guarantee that either method will work, but they should.
On the phone
Toggle off "install updates" option in Dev Options

Yeah, I've heard this is risky, but I'm willing to take the risk because Android 11 ruined my phone and basically added 3 or 4 years to the battery of a phone that I only had for 7 months and was working great before this crap.
And once again, Thanks for this help. I appreciate it very much, even if it doesn't work.
And I had a question before I proceeded. There was an update that came along with Android 11 from Motorola on that same day. The update basically changed my look screen, peek display. Doing all this should get rid of that too and make everything look how it did before the update?

Not yet, I'm sorry. I'm still reading over the info and trying to put everything in order. So unlocking the bootloader is the first step? And is it ok if I use the method on this site?

What about the ADB tool?
Where it says " We recommend not to use the 15 seconds Adb installer on new devices". Like, is my phone considered a newer device lol? I don't really know. Should I go ahead and use the latest version anyway?
